We present a measurement of the cross section for Z boson production times the branching fraction to tau lepton pairs in collisions at . The measurement is performed in the channel in which one tau lepton decays into a muon and neutrinos, and the other tau lepton decays hadronically or into an electron and neutrinos. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1 collected with the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The sample contains 1511 candidate events with an estimated 20% background from jets or muons misidentified as tau leptons. We obtain , which is consistent with the standard model prediction.  相似文献

The channel is the only kinematically allowed baryonic D decay. It proceeds solely through the W-annihilation topology. Hence, a recent observation of this mode by CLEO will shed light on the dynamics of W-annihilation. At the short-distance level, its branching ratio is very small, of order 10−6, owing to chiral suppression. It receives long-distance contributions through final-state scattering of the leading tree and color-suppressed amplitudes. Assuming that the long-distance enhancement of W-annihilation in the baryonic D decay is similar to that in the mesonic decay, where the latter can be obtained from the analysis of the diagrammatic approach, we find that becomes visible. The observation of this baryonic D decay implies the dynamical enhancement of the W-annihilation topology in the decay.  相似文献

Based on the recent formulation of a general scheme to construct boundary Lax pairs, we develop this systematic construction for the affine Toda field theories (ATFT). We work out explicitly the first two models of the hierarchy, i.e. the sine-Gordon () and the models. The Toda theory is the first non-trivial example of the hierarchy that exhibits two distinct types of boundary conditions. We provide here novel expressions of boundary Lax pairs associated to both types of boundary conditions.  相似文献

The state of CaOH was investigated using optical–optical double resonance spectroscopy. A combined least-squares fit of the double resonance transition data along with optical transition data and the millimeter-wave pure rotational data of the state was performed using an effective Hamiltonian. The spin–rotation constant was determined for the state for the first time. An analysis of these constants showed that the Ca–O bond length and spin–rotation parameter of the state have the smallest values of all the observed 2Σ+ states of CaOH. This evidence suggests the assignment of the state as arising from a Ca+ atomic orbital of mainly 5 character. This atomic orbital assignment was shown to be consistent with both previous work on CaF and recent theoretical calculations on CaOH.  相似文献

Type A -fold supercharge admits a one-parameter family of factorizations into product of first-order linear differential operators due to an underlying symmetry. As a consequence, a type A -fold supersymmetric system can have different intermediate Hamiltonians corresponding to different factorizations. We derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for the latter system to possess intermediate Hamiltonians for the case. We then show that whenever it has (at least) one intermediate Hamiltonian, it can admit second-order parasupersymmetry and a generalized 2-fold superalgebra. As an illustration, we construct a set of generalized Pöschl–Teller potentials of this kind.  相似文献

We propose a new realization of the elliptic quantum group equipped with the H-Hopf algebroid structure on the basis of the elliptic algebra . The algebra has a constructive definition in terms of the Drinfeld generators of the quantum affine algebra and a Heisenberg algebra. This yields a systematic construction of both finite- and infinite-dimensional dynamical representations and their parallel structures to . In particular we give a classification theorem of the finite-dimensional irreducible pseudo-highest weight representations stated in terms of an elliptic analogue of the Drinfeld polynomials. We also investigate a structure of the tensor product of two evaluation representations and derive an elliptic analogue of the Clebsch–Gordan coefficients. We show that it is expressed by using the very-well-poised balanced elliptic hypergeometric series .  相似文献

In this paper we construct two free field realizations of the elliptic affine Lie algebra where . The first realization provides an analogue of Wakimoto’s construction for Affine Kac–Moody algebras, but in the setting of the elliptic affine Lie algebra. A search for leptoquarks has been performed in 310 pb−1 of data from collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The topology analyzed consists of acoplanar jets with missing transverse energy. The data show good agreement with standard model expectations, and a lower mass limit of 136 GeV has been set at the 95% C.L. for a scalar leptoquark decaying exclusively into a quark and a neutrino.  相似文献

We analyse the optical properties of GaN homoepitaxies grown on semipolar ()- and ()- orientated GaN substrates. We find the optical anisotropy of the GaN films to be strictly ruled by the angle between the growth plane and the 0001 direction of the crystal. This anisotropy offers a wide range of applications in the domain of surface emitting devices like VCELs and cavity polariton lasers based on GaN but also for similar structures relying on ZnO-related materials.  相似文献

A search for pair production of first-generation leptoquarks (LQ) is performed with data collected by the DØ experiment in collisions at at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. In a sample of data corresponding to 1 fb−1 the search has been performed on the final states with two electrons and two jets or one electron, two jets and missing transverse energy. We find our data consistent with standard model expectations. The results are combined with those found in a previous analysis of events with two jets and missing transverse energy to obtain scalar LQ mass limits. We set 95% C.L. lower limits on a scalar LQ mass of 299 GeV, 284 GeV and 216 GeV for β=1, β=0.5 and β=0.02 respectively, where β is the LQ branching ratio in the eq channel. This improves the results obtained with a lower luminosity sample from Run II of the Tevatron. Lower limits on vector LQ masses with different couplings from 357 GeV to 464 GeV for β=0.5 are also set using this analysis.  相似文献

The free field partition function for a generic U(N) gauge theory, where the fundamental fields transform in the adjoint representation, is analysed in terms of symmetric polynomial techniques. It is shown by these means how this is related to the cycle polynomial for the symmetric group and how the large N result may be easily recovered. Higher order corrections for finite N are also discussed in terms of symmetric group characters. For finite N, the partition function involving a single bosonic fundamental field is recovered and explicit counting of multi-trace quarter BPS operators in free super-Yang–Mills discussed, including a general result for large N. The partition function for quarter BPS operators in the chiral ring of super-Yang–Mills is analysed in terms of plane partitions. Asymptotic counting of BPS primary operators with differing R-symmetry charges is discussed in both free super-Yang–Mills and in the chiral ring. Also, general and explicit expressions are derived for SU(2) gauge theory partition functions, when the fundamental fields transform in the adjoint, for free field theory.  相似文献

We report experimental results on an anisotropic magnetotransport of a bilayer electron system at the Landau level filling factor under tilted magnetic fields. We find that the magnetoresistance changes when the direction of applied in-plane field B is changed with respect to the direction of the current while keeping the strength of B fixed. This anisotropy only appears at the ground state where interlayer electron tunneling is permitted. Therefore, this phenomenon indicates that bilayer systems at with interlayer tunneling inherently have a dissipation mechanism related to the direction of the in-plane field.  相似文献

Quantitative absorption spectra for several hydrocarbon fuels in the liquid phase at are presented. Measurements of toluene, n-dodecane, n-decane, and three samples of gasoline were made over the spectral region 2700–3200 to support the development of mid-infrared laser-absorption diagnostics for measurements of fuel vapor in the presence of liquid films and aerosols. A procedure for quantitative Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) absorption measurements of strongly absorbing liquids is described and the resulting absorption spectra are compared with previously measured absorption spectra in the vapor phase. The measured absorption spectra for liquid gasoline are shown to scale with the volume percent of olefin, alkane, and aromatic hydrocarbons in each sample. Finally, the observed frequency shift of in the spectra of vapor and liquid hydrocarbons is discussed, including the potential for measurements of fuel vapor in the presence of liquid films.  相似文献

The continuous-wave laser properties of an efficient diode-pumped Nd:GdVO4 crystal operating at formed with a simple plane-concave cavity have been studied. With the incident pump power of 21 W, an output power of 6.9 W was obtained, giving an optical conversion efficiency of 32.8% and a slope efficiency of 35.3%. The infrared structure of MHV gluon amplitudes in planar limit for super Yang–Mills theory is considered in the next-to-leading order of PT. Explicit cancellation of the infrared divergencies in properly defined cross-sections is demonstrated. The remaining finite parts for some inclusive differential cross-sections in planar limit are calculated analytically. In general, contrary to the virtual corrections, they do not reveal any simple structure.  相似文献

We report the observation of levels in the state of CH2 via optical–optical double resonance spectroscopy. Direct transitions between the lowest singlet state and the state are allowed by symmetry, but weak because they correspond to a two electron excitation in the single configuration approximation to the electronic wavefunction. The observed transitions involve sequential single photon absorptions at visible and near infrared wavelengths using state intermediate levels. Recent ab initio results (S.N. Yurchenko et al., J. Mol. Spectrosc. 208 (2001), 136) predicted the positions of some of the levels which are confirmed by the present results. The new spectra provide accurate energies for rotational levels in the , l = 0 level of the state.  相似文献
