Rational homotopy types of simply connected topological spaces have been classified by weak equivalence classes of commutative cochain algebras (Sullivan) and by isomorphism classes of minimal commutative A -algebras (Kadeishvili). We classify rational homotopy types of the space X by using the (noncommutative) singular cochain complex C*(X, Q), with additional structure given by the homotopies introduced by Baues, {E 1,k } and {F p,q}. We show that if we modify the resulting B -algebra structure on this algebra by requiring that its bar construction be a Hopf algebra up to a homotopy, then weak equivalence classes of such algebras classify rational homotopy types. __________ Translated from Sovremennaya Matematika i Ee Prilozheniya (Contemporary Mathematics and Its Applications), Vol. 43, Topology and Its Applications, 2006.  相似文献

Let X be a topological space. The homology of the iterated loop space HΩnX is an algebra over the homology of the framed n-disks operad HfDn [E. Getzler, Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras and two-dimensional topological field theories, Comm. Math. Phys. 159 (2) (1994) 265-285; P. Salvatore, N. Wahl, Framed discs operads and Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras, Q. J. Math. 54 (2) (2003) 213-231]. We explicitly determine this HfDn-algebra structure on H(ΩnX;Q). We show that the action of H(SO(n)) on the iterated loop space HΩnX is related to the J-homomorphism and that the BV-operator on H(Ω2X) vanishes on spherical classes only in characteristic other than 2.  相似文献

Let A be a semisimple and regular commutative Banach algebra with structure space Δ(A). Continuing our investigation in [E. Kaniuth, Weak spectral synthesis in commutative Banach algebras, J. Funct. Anal. 254 (2008) 987-1002], we establish various results on intersections and unions of weak spectral sets and weak Ditkin sets in Δ(A). As an important example, the algebra of n-times continuously differentiable functions is studied in detail. In addition, we prove a theorem on spectral synthesis for projective tensor products of commutative Banach algebras which applies to Fourier algebras of locally compact groups.  相似文献

Cohomologies of Lie algebras are usually calculated using the Chevalley-Eilenberg cochain complex of skew-symmetric forms. We consider two cochain complexes consisting of forms with some symmetric properties. First, cochains C*(L) are symmetric in the last 2 arguments, skew-symmetric in the others and satify moreover some kind of Jacobi condition in the last 3 arguments. In characteristic 0, its cohomologies are isomorphic to the cohomologies of the factor-complex C*(L,L’)/C*+1(L,K). Second, a symmetric version Cλ*(A) is defined for an associative algebra A. It is a subcomplex of the cyclic cochain complex. These symmetric cochain complexes are used for the calculation of 3-cohomologies of Cartan Type Lie algebras with trivial coefficients.  相似文献

A thickening of a finite CW-complex X is by definition a compact manifold M of the same simple homotopy type as X. We give a model for the cochain complex of the boundary of that manifold, C *M), as a module over the cochain algebra C *(X). We also show how to construct an algebraic model of the rational homotopy type of δC *(M) from a model of X. Using this rational model, we prove a new formula for the rational Lusternik–Schnirelmann category of X. Received: 24 September 1999  相似文献

It is well known that the forgetful functor from symmetric operads to nonsymmetric operads has a left adjoint Sym1 given by product with the symmetric group operad. It is also well known that this functor does not affect the category of algebras of the operad. From the point of view of the author's theory of higher operads, the nonsymmetric operads are 1-operads and Sym1 is the first term of the infinite series of left adjoint functors Symn, called symmetrisation functors, from n-operads to symmetric operads with the property that the category of one object, one arrow, …, one (n−1)-arrow algebras of an n-operad A is isomorphic to the category of algebras of Symn(A).In this paper we consider some geometrical and homotopical aspects of the symmetrisation of n-operads. We follow Getzler and Jones and consider their decomposition of the Fulton-Macpherson operad of compactified real configuration spaces. We construct an n-operadic counterpart of this compactification which we call the Getzler-Jones operad. We study the properties of Getzler-Jones operad and find that it is contractible and cofibrant in an appropriate model category. The symmetrisation of the Getzler-Jones operad turns out to be exactly the operad of Fulton and Macpherson. These results should be considered as an extension of Stasheff's theory of 1-fold loop spaces to n-fold loop spaces n?2. We also show that a space X with an action of a contractible n-operad has a natural structure of an algebra over an operad weakly equivalent to the little n-disks operad. A similar result holds for chain operads. These results generalise the classical Eckman-Hilton argument to arbitrary dimension. Finally, we apply the techniques to the Swiss-Cheese type operads introduced by Voronov and prove analogous results in this case.  相似文献

Let K(n) be the nth Morava K-theory at a prime p, and let T(n) be the telescope of a vn-self map of a finite complex of type n. In this paper we study the K(n)*-homology of ΩX, the 0th space of a spectrum X, and many related matters. We give a sampling of our results.Let PX be the free commutative S-algebra generated by X: it is weakly equivalent to the wedge of all the extended powers of X. Let A be a finite-dimensional basic connected associative algebra over an algebraically closed field, and T(A)=A ? DA its trivial extension by its minimal injective cogenerator. We prove that T(A) is representation-finite of Cartan class Δ if and only if A is an iterated tilted algebra of Dynkin class Δ. The proof also yields a construction procedure for iterated tilted algebras of Dynkin type.  相似文献

A Π-algebra A is a graded group with all of the algebraic structure possessed by the homotopy groups of a pointed connected topological space. We study the moduli space R(A) of realizations of A, which is defined to be the disjoint union, indexed by weak equivalence classes of CW-complexes X with , of the classifying space of the monoid of self homotopy equivalences of X. Our approach amounts to a kind of homotopical deformation theory: we obtain a tower whose homotopy limit is R(A), in which the space at the bottom is BAut(A) and the successive fibres are determined by Π-algebra cohomology. (This cohomology is the analog for Π-algebras of the Hochschild cohomology of an associative ring or the André-Quillen cohomology of a commutative ring.) It seems clear that the deformation theory can be applied with little change to study other moduli problems in algebra and topology.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to classify the quasi-isomorphism classes of 1-connected minimal free cochain algebras over a commutative ring. Our tool to address this problem is a “certain” long sequence, called the Whitehead exact sequence, which we construct for every such algebra. We introduce the notion of coherent isomorphisms between these exact sequences and we show that two 1-connected minimal free cochain algebras are quasi-isomorphic if and only if their respective Whitehead exact sequences are coherently isomorphic.  相似文献

We prove that an isometry T between open subgroups of the invertible groups of unital Banach algebras A and B is extended to a real-linear isometry up to translation between these Banach algebras. While a unital isometry between unital semisimple commutative Banach algebras need not be multiplicative, we prove in this paper that if A is commutative and A or B are semisimple, then (T(eA))−1T is extended to an isometric real algebra isomorphism from A onto B. In particular, A−1 is isometric as a metric space to B−1 if and only if they are isometrically isomorphic to each other as metrizable groups if and only if A is isometrically isomorphic to B as a real Banach algebra; it is compared by the example of ?elazko concerning on non-isomorphic Banach algebras with the homeomorphically isomorphic invertible groups. Isometries between open subgroups of the invertible groups of unital closed standard operator algebras on Banach spaces are investigated and their general forms are given.  相似文献

Let A be a DGA over a field and X a module over H(A). Fix an A-structure on H(A) making it quasi-isomorphic to A. We construct an equivalence of categories between An+1-module structures on X and length n Postnikov systems in the derived category of A-modules based on the bar resolution of X. This implies that quasi-isomorphism classes of An-structures on X are in bijective correspondence with weak equivalence classes of rigidifications of the first n terms of the bar resolution of X to a complex of A-modules. The above equivalences of categories are compatible for different values of n. This implies that two obstruction theories for realizing X as the homology of an A-module coincide.  相似文献

Let A and B be algebras, and let T be the dual extension algebra of A and B. We provide a different method to prove that T is Koszul if and only if both A and B are Koszul. Furthermore, we prove that an algebra is Koszul if and only if one of its iterated dual extension algebras is Koszul, if and only if all its iterated dual extension algebras are Koszul. Finally, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for a dual extension algebra to have the property that all linearly presented modules are Koszul modules, which provides an effective way to construct algebras with such a property.  相似文献

We show that the sum over planar tree formula of Kontsevich and Soibelman transfers C-structures along a contraction. Applying this result to a cosimplicial commutative algebra A over a field of characteristic zero, we exhibit a canonical C-structure on Tot(A), which is unital if A is; in particular, we obtain a canonical C-structure on the cochain complex of a simplicial set.  相似文献

Let A be a commutative unital Banach algebra with connected maximal ideal space X. We show that the Gelfand transform induces an isomorphism between the group of commutative Galois extensions of A with given finite Abelian Galois group, and the corresponding group of extensions of C(X). This result is applied, when X is sufficiently nice, to construct a separable projective finitely generated faithful Banach A-algebra whose maximal ideal space is a given finitely fibered covering space of X.  相似文献

Let A be a uniform algebra on a compact space X. An inner function is a function in A unimodular on X. For three algebras of type H we prove A is generated by its inner functions. Whenever A is generated by its inner functions we prove the unit ball of A is the closed convex ball of the inner functions.  相似文献

A monadic algebraA has finite degreen ifA/M has at most 2 n elements for every maximal idealM ofA and this bound is obtained for someM. Every countable monadic algebra with a finite degree is isomorphic to an algebra Γ(X, S) whereX is a Boolean space andS is a subsheaf of a constant sheaf with a finite simple stalk. This representation is used to prove that every proper equational class of monadic algebras has a decidable first-order theory.  相似文献

We consider algebras in a modular tensor category C. If the trace pairing of an algebra A in C is non-degenerate we associate to A a commutative algebra Z(A), called the full centre, in a doubled version of the category C. We prove that two simple algebras with non-degenerate trace pairing are Morita-equivalent if and only if their full centres are isomorphic as algebras. This result has an interesting interpretation in two-dimensional rational conformal field theory; it implies that there cannot be several incompatible sets of boundary conditions for a given bulk theory.  相似文献

The classical Eckmann-Hilton argument shows that two monoid structures on a set, such that one is a homomorphism for the other, coincide and, moreover, the resulting monoid is commutative. This argument immediately gives a proof of the commutativity of the higher homotopy groups. A reformulation of this argument in the language of higher categories is: suppose we have a one object, one arrow 2-category, then its Hom-set is a commutative monoid. A similar argument due to A. Joyal and R. Street shows that a one object, one arrow tricategory is ‘the same’ as a braided monoidal category. In this paper we begin to investigate how one can extend this argument to arbitrary dimension. We provide a simple categorical scheme which allows us to formalise the Eckmann-Hilton type argument in terms of the calculation of left Kan extensions in an appropriate 2-category. Then we apply this scheme to the case of n-operads in the author's sense and classical symmetric operads. We demonstrate that there exists a functor of symmetrisation Symn from a certain subcategory of n-operads to the category of symmetric operads such that the category of one object, one arrow, … , one (n−1)-arrow algebras of A is isomorphic to the category of algebras of Symn(A). Under some mild conditions, we present an explicit formula for Symn(A) which involves taking the colimit over a remarkable categorical symmetric operad. We will consider some applications of the methods developed to the theory of n-fold loop spaces in the second paper of this series.  相似文献
