In this paper, using the equilibrium equations and boundary conditions of elastic stability problem of and the method of mathematical theory of elasticity, we solve some elastic stability problems, which were studied by Ишлынский[2] and Войцеховская[3,4],and obtained more reasonable results than theirs.  相似文献

Consider the perturbed nonautonomous linear delay differential equation x(t) = - a(t)x(t-τ) + F(t, x1, t ⩾ 0 where x1(s)=x(t+s) for −δ≤s≤0. Suppose that a(t) ∈ C([0,∞), (0,∞)), τ≥0,F:[0, ∞) x C[−δ,0] → R is a continuous functions and F(t,0) ≡ 0. Here C[−δ,0] is the space of continuous functions Φ: [−δ,0] → R with ∥Φ∥<H for the norm | Φ |, where |·| is any norm in R and 0<H≤+∞. Most of the known papers [1–5,7] have been concerned with the local or global asymptotic behavior of the zero solution of Eq. (*) when a(t) is independent of t i. e., a(t) is autonomous. The aim in this paper is to derive the sufficient conditions for the global attractivity of the zero solution of of Eq. (*) When a(t) is nonautomous. Our results, which extend and improve the known results, are even “sharp”. At the same time, the method used in this paper can be applicable to the perturbed nonlinear equation. Heat transfer by laminar flow in a vertical pipe with twisted-tape inserts   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Heat transfer for laminar flow of water in an air-cooled vertical copper pipe with four twisted-tape inserts was determined experimentally. The tests were executed for laminar flow within 110 ≤ Re ≤ 1500, 8.1 ≤ Gz ≤  82.0 and 1.62 ≤ y ≤ 5.29. The correlation equation for heat transfer was defined for the tested range. The obtained results were compared to the results of other authors. Received on 28 April 1998  相似文献

An approximate solution ω = A[ω, μ] of the nonlinear integral Nekrasov equation is obtained by successive replacement of the kernel of the integral operator by a close one. The solution is sought not directly at the bifurcation point μ1 = 3 of the linearized equation ω = μL[ω] but at the point μ = 1 at which operator A[ω, μ], remaining nonlinear in ω, is linear in μ. __________ Translated from Prikladnaya Mekhanika i Tekhnicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 48, No. 6, pp. 50–56, November–December, 2007.  相似文献

In this work, we study the temperature-induced development of “dynamically arrested” states in dense suspensions of “soft colloids” (multi-arm star polymers and/or block-copolymers micelles) by means of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Temperature increase in marginal solvents results in “soft sphere” swelling, dynamical arrest, and eventually crystallization. However, two distinct “dynamically arrested” states were found, one almost amorphous (“glassy”) and one with a considerable degree of crystallinity, yet lower than that of the fully equilibrated crystal. It is remarkable that even that latter state permitted self-diffusion in the timescale of the simulations, an effect that underlies the importance of the “ultra-soft” nature of inter-particle potential. The “number of connections” criterion for crystallinity proved to be very successful in identifying the ultimate thermodynamic trend from the very early stages of the α-relaxation. The electrorheological (ER) behavior and stress transient response of dilute solutions of a side-chain liquid-crystalline polysiloxane (LCP) in 4,4′-n-octylcyanobiphenyl (8CB) is studied. In the flow-tumbling regime of 8CB, i.e. from T = 34–38 °C, the stress transients of both 8CB and LCP/8CB solutions show oscillatory responses, but with shorter oscillation periodicities for the solution. In the flow-aligning regime of 8CB, i.e. at 39 and 40 °C, a transformation to flow-tumbling is observed in the stress transients of the LCP/8CB solution. In both cases, analysis of the transient responses indicates that the change in Leslie viscosity coefficients on dissolving the LCP are δα2 < 0 and δα3 > 0. The amplitude of the ER response, defined as the viscosity difference between the on and off states, Δη = ηon − ηoff, is only weakly affected by the dissolution of LCP. These rheological results can be interpreted consistently using a modified version of a hydrodynamic theory by Brochard, provided an additional dissipation mechanism is included, which derives from the presence of an elastic torque between director rotation and LCP orientation.  The dynamic flow behavior of polyamide-6 (PA-6) and a nanocomposite (PNC) based on it was studied. The latter resin contained 2 wt% of organoclay. The two materials were blended in proportions of 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 wt% PNC. The dynamic shear rheological properties of well-dried specimens were measured under N2 at T=240 °C, frequency ω=0.1–100 rad/s, and strains γ=10 and 40%. At constant T, γ, and ω the time sweeps resulted in significant increases of the shear moduli. The γ and ω scans showed a complex rheological behavior of all clay-containing specimens. At γ=10% the linear viscoelasticity was observed for all compositions only at ω>1 rad/s, while at γ=40% only for 0 and 25 wt% of PNC. However, the effect was moderate, namely decreasing G′ and G′′ (at ω=6.28 rad/s; γ=50%) by 15 and 7.5%, respectively. For compositions containing >25 wt% PNC two types of non-linearity were detected. At ω≤ωc=1.4 ± 0.2 rad/s yield stress provided evidence of a 3-D structure. At ω > ωc, G′ and G′′ were sensitive to shear history – the effect was reversible. From the frequency scans at ω > ωc the zero-shear relative viscosity vs concentration plot was constructed. The initial slope gave the intrinsic viscosity from which the aspect ratio of organoclay particles, p=287 ± 9 was calculated, in agreement with the value calculated from the reduced permeability data, p=286. De Visscher  Alex 《Nonlinear dynamics》2020,99(3):1871-1891
For the electrically actuated microbeam subjected to a combination of DC and AC voltage loadings, we studied the nonlinear dynamical responses and internal resonance analytically. The flexible boundary condition is considered. The modal interaction due to three-to-one internal resonance between the first and second modes is highlighted. The method of multiple scales is employed to get the modulation equation, which describes the amplitude and phases of the involving modes. Then, the equilibrium solutions of the modulation equation are calculated and their stability is examined. The frequency and force response curves reflecting the primary resonance (the first mode) are presented. We find that the first and second modes in the proposed model are coupled, and hence the energy transfer can occur between the involving modes. Moreover, it is found that the response of the system may encounter Hopf bifurcation for some specific parameters. As for simulation, the Galerkin scheme is applied to verify the analytical results in terms of time history, phase-plane portrait, Fourier spectrum, and Poincare section. The simulation results are in good agreement with the analytical ones.  相似文献

This paper concerns the regularity of a capillary graph (the meniscus profile of liquid in a cylindrical tube) over a corner domain of angle α. By giving an explicit construction of minimal surface solutions previously shown to exist (Indiana Univ. Math. J. 50 (2001), no. 1, 411–441) we clarify two outstanding questions. Solutions are constructed in the case α = π/2 for contact angle data (γ1, γ2) = (γ, π − γ) with 0 < γ < π. The solutions given with |γ − π/2| < π/4 are the first known solutions that are not C2 up to the corner. This shows that the best known regularity (C1, ∈) is the best possible in some cases. Specific dependence of the H?lder exponent on the contact angle for our examples is given. Solutions with γ = π/4 have continuous, but horizontal, normal vector at the corners in accordance with results of Tam (Pacific J. Math. 124 (1986), 469–482). It is shown that our examples are C0, β up to and including the corner for any β < 1. Solutions with |γ − π/2| > π/4 have a jump discontinuity at the corner. This kind of behavior was suggested by numerical work of Concus and Finn (Microgravity sci. technol. VII/2 (1994), 152–155) and Mittelmann and Zhu (Microgravity sci. technol. IX/1 (1996), 22–27). Our explicit construction, however, allows us to investigate the solutions quantitatively. For example, the trace of these solutions, excluding the jump discontinuity, is C2/3.  相似文献

The basic formulas of classical equilibrium statistical mechanics are derived from well-known theorems in measure theory and ergodic theory. The method used is a generalization of the methods of Khinchin and Grad and deals with several, in fact a “complete set”, of “invariants” or “integrals of the motion”. Most of the results are simple corollaries of Birkhoff's ergodic theorem, and since time-averages are used, the whole approach is characterized by an absence of statistical “ensembles” and probability notions. In the course of the development a “generalized temperature” is introduced, and a generalization of the second law of thermodynamics is derived. Formulas for the “microcanonical”, “canonical”, and “grand canonical” distributions appear as special cases of the general theory.  相似文献

The Simha–Somcynsky (S–S) equation of state (eos) was used to compute the free volume parameter, h, from the pressure–volume–temperature (PVT) dependencies of eight molten polymers. The predicted by eos variation of h with T and P was confirmed by the positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy; good agreement was found for h(P = constant) = h(T) as well as for h(T = constant) = h(P). Capillary shear viscosity (η) data of the same polymers (measured at three temperatures and six pressures up to 700 bars), were plotted as logη vs 1/h, the latter computed for T and P at which η was measured. In previous works, such a plot for solvents and silicone oils resulted in a “master curve” for the liquid, in a wide range of T and P. However, for molten polymers, no superposition of data onto a “master curve” could be found. The superposition could be obtained allowing the characteristic pressure reducing parameter, P*, to vary. The necessity for using a “rheological” characteristic pressure reducing parameter, P*R = κP*, with κ = 1 to 2.1 indicates that the free volume parameter extracted from the thermodynamic equilibrium data may not fully describe the dynamic behavior. After eliminating possibility of other sources for the deviation, the most likely culprit seems to be the presence of structures in polymer melts at temperatures above the glass transition, T g. For example, it was observed that for amorphous polymers at T ≅ 1.52T g the factor κ = 1, and the deviation vanish.  相似文献

Nonlinear rheology was examined for concentrated suspensions of spherical silica particles (with radius of 40 nm) in viscous media, 2.27/1 (wt/wt) ethylene glycol/glycerol mixture and pure ethylene glycol. The particles were randomly and isotropically dispersed in the media in the quiescent state, and their effective volume fraction φeff ranged from 0.36 to 0.59. For small strains, the particles exhibited linear relaxation of the Brownian stress σB due to their diffusion. For large step strains γ, the nonlinear relaxation modulus G(t,γ) exhibited strong damping and obeyed the time-strain separability. This damping was related to γ-insensitivity of strain-induced anisotropy in the particle distribution that resulted in decreases of σB/γ. The damping became stronger for larger φeff. This φeff dependence was related to a hard-core volume effect, i.e., strain-induced collision of the particles that is enhanced for larger φeff. Under steady/transient shear flow, the particles exhibited thinning and thickening at low and high γ˙, respectively. The thinning behavior was well described by a BKZ constitutive equation using the G(t,γ) data and attributable to decreases of a Brownian contribution, σB/γ˙. The thickening behavior, not described by this equation, was related to dynamic clustering of the particles and corresponding enhancement of the hydrodynamic stress at high γ˙. In this thickening regime, the viscosity growth η+ after start-up of flow was scaled with a strain γ˙t. Specifically, critical strains γd and γs for the onset of thickening and achievement of the steadily thickened state were independent of γ˙ but decreased with increasing φeff. This φeff dependence was again related to the hard-core volume effect, flow-induced collision of the particles enhanced for larger φeff. Received: 26 June 1998 Accepted: 9 December 1998  相似文献

For a nonsmooth positively one-homogeneous convex function φ:ℝ n → [0,+∞[, it is possible to introduce the class ?φ (ℝ n ) of smooth boundaries with respect to φ, to define their φ-mean curvature κφ, and to prove that, for E∈?φ (ℝ n ), κφL E) [9]. Based on these results, we continue the analysis on the structure of δE and on the regularity properties of κφ. We prove that a facet F of δE is Lipschitz (up to negligible sets) and that κφ has bounded variation on F. Further properties of the jump set of κφ are inspected: in particular, in three space dimensions, we relate the sublevel sets of κφ on F to the geometry of the Wulff shape ?φ≔{φ≤ 1 }. Let φ:ℝ n → [0,+∞[ be a given positively one-homogeneous convex function, and let ?φ≔{φ≤ 1 }. Pursuing our interest in motion by crystalline mean curvature in three dimensions, we introduce and study the class ?φ (ℝ n ) of “smooth” boundaries in the relative geometry induced by the ambient Banach space (ℝ n , φ). It can be seen that, even when ?φ is a polytope, ?φ(ℝ n ) cannot be reduced to the class of polyhedral boundaries (locally resembling ∂?φ). Curved portions must be necessarily included and this fact (as well as the nonsmoothness of ∂?φ) is the source of several technical difficulties related to the geometry of Lipschitz manifolds. Given a boundary δE in the class ?φ(ℝ n ), we rigorously compute the first variation of the corresponding anisotropic perimeter, which leads to a variational problem on vector fields defined on δE. It turns out that the minimizers have a uniquely determined (intrinsic) tangential divergence on δE. We define such a divergence to be the φ-mean curvature κφ of δE; the function κφ is expected to be the initial velocity of δE, whenever δE is considered as the initial datum for the corresponding anisotropic mean curvature flow. We prove that κφ is bounded on δE and that its sublevel sets are characterized through a variational inequality.  相似文献

Rheological and mechanical properties of aqueous mono-disperse silica suspensions (Ludox? HS40) are investigated as a function of particle volume fraction (ϕ p ranging from 0.22 to 0.51) and water content, using shear rate tests, oscillatory methods, indentation and an ultrasonic technique. As the samples are progressively dried, four regimes are identified; they are related to the increasing particle content and the existence and behaviour of the electrical double layer (EDL) around each particle. For 0.22 ≤ ϕ p ≤ 0.30), the suspensions are stable due to the strong electrostatic repulsion between particles and show Newtonian behaviour (I). As water is removed, the solution pH decreases and the ionic strength increases. The EDL thickness therefore slowly decreases, and screening of the electrostatic repulsion increases. For 0.31 ≤ ϕ p ≤ 0.35, the suspensions become turbid and exhibit viscoelastic (VE) shear thinning behaviour (II), as they progressively flocculate. For 0.35 ≤ ϕ p ≤ 0.47, the suspensions turn transparent again and paste-like, with VE shear thinning behaviour and high elastic modulus (III). At higher particle concentration, the suspensions undergo a glass transition and behave as an elastic brittle solid (IV, ϕ p = 0.51).  相似文献

The accuracy of large-eddy simulation (LES) of a turbulent premixed Bunsen flame is investigated in this paper. To distinguish between discretization and modeling errors, multiple LES, using different grid sizes h but the same filterwidth Δ, are compared with the direct numerical simulation (DNS). In addition, LES using various values of Δ but the same ratio Δ/h are compared. The chemistry in the LES and DNS is parametrized with the standard steady premixed flamelet for stochiometric methane-air combustion. The subgrid terms are closed with an eddy-viscosity or eddy-diffusivity approach, with an exception of the dominant subgrid term, which is the subgrid part of the chemical source term. The latter subgrid contribution is modeled by a similarity model based upon 2Δ, which is found to be superior to such a model based upon Δ. Using the 2Δ similarity model for the subgrid chemistry the LES produces good results, certainly in view of the fact that the LES is completely wrong if the subgrid chemistry model is omitted. The grid refinements of the LES show that the results for Δ = h do depend on the numerical scheme, much more than for h = Δ/2 and h = Δ/4. Nevertheless, modeling errors and discretization error may partially cancel each other; occasionally the Δ = h results were more accurate than the h ≤ Δ results. Finally, for this flame LES results obtained with the present similarity model are shown to be slightly better than those obtained with standard β-pdf closure for the subgrid chemistry.  相似文献

ROSSBY WAVES WITH THE CHANGE OF β   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
In this paper, the change of the Rossby parameter β with latitude is considered and the parameter γ≡-dβ/dy=2sinφ/a2 is introduced and the β-plane approximation is extended into f=f00y-γ0y2/2 which includes the parameter γ. Such approximation closes further to practice especially in the high latitude regions. We give emphasis to the research of the effect of the parameter γ on the Rossby waves. It is seen that the effect of the parameter γ is remarkable in the high latitude regions. It can produce the Rossby waves caused by the pure parameter γ. And the phase speed formula of Rossby waves with the change of ft is generally given, which is degenerated into the well-known Rossby formula when γ0=0. The researches also point out that when the change of β is regarded, even if the basic current u is a linear function of y the unstable modes can also take place. However, the parameter γ usually plays a stable part in the Rossby waves and it does affect the longitudinal scale and the structure of constant phase lines(trough-ridge lines)of Rossby waves and slow down the growing or decaying of Rossby waves.  相似文献

We prove the existence of a weak solution to the steady Navier–Stokes problem in a three dimensional domain Ω, whose boundary ∂Ω consists of M unbounded components Γ1, . . . , Γ M and NM bounded components Γ M+1, . . . , Γ N . We use the inhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition on ∂Ω. The prescribed velocity profile α on ∂Ω is assumed to have an L 3-extension to Ω with the gradient in L 2(Ω)3×3. We assume that the fluxes of α through the bounded components Γ M+1, . . . , Γ N of ∂Ω are “sufficiently small”, but we impose no restriction on the size of fluxes through the unbounded components Γ1, . . . , Γ M .  相似文献
