为了改善不同类型光纤熔接时的模场失配,通过调整普通光纤熔接机的熔接参数,对模场直径较小的光纤进行加热扩芯,实现了10/130μm大模场面积双包层光纤和6/125μm单模光纤的低损耗熔接,光纤耦合效率可达到91%,并成功应用于自主研发的小型1064nm光纤激光器中。对利用光纤熔接机加热扩芯制作模场适配器进行了理论分析,并用1064nm光纤激光器测量其实际传输损耗。实验结果表明:采用普通光纤熔接机,适当的调整熔接参数,可以有效地提高大模场面积光纤到单模光纤的耦合效率,为制作模场适配器提供了一种简单实用的方法。  相似文献

本文分析一种由两层低折射率孔组成的大模场光纤的模式特性,采用多极法和有限元方法数值计算并分析了内层孔与外层孔尺寸变化对光纤基模与高阶模的束缚损耗与弯曲损耗的影响,设计获得了一种具有较高的高阶模和基模损耗比同时允许一定程度弯曲的大模场光纤,结果表明:当内层孔直径为34μm,外层孔直径为24 μm时,其基模束缚损耗为0.00017 dB m,而高阶模束缚损耗为1.39 dB/m;光纤的基模模场面积为2450.9μm2,当弯曲半径为1.2m 时,弯曲损耗为0.106 dB/m.  相似文献

扩芯光纤原理及其在光器件耦合中的应用   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
介绍了两种可以增大单模光纤模场直径并出射准直平行光束的扩芯光纤(ECF)的原理和制作方法。分析了单模光纤熔接渐变折射率多模光纤法通过改变渐变折射率多模光纤的长度和自聚焦参量实现模场扩大缩小的原理,制作的扩芯光纤模场直径扩大到16.6μm,出射光束平行效果较好,轴向耦合容限比单模光纤扩大了近6倍。加热扩芯光纤则是通过控制加热温度和加热时间直接使单模光纤掺杂物质发生扩散,从而实现扩束和光束准直,模场直径达到15.4μm,横向、轴向耦合容限都比单模光纤有很大提高。因此扩芯光纤可以简化单模光纤的耦合对准过程,用来制作新型的单模光纤或掺铒光纤连接器,也可以用于其它光器件中与单模光纤的准直。  相似文献

运用平面波展开法分析As2S3、Ge20Se65Sb15和As2Se3硫系玻璃光纤在不同空气填充率下的带隙分布图,分析结果表明三种材料在空气填充率提高到0.75时,光子带隙与空气线均出现交汇模式,且带隙宽度大,纤芯空气孔中适宜进行激光传输.运用有限元法分析不同纤芯孔直径的Ge20Se65Sb15硫系玻璃空芯光子带隙光纤的基模限制损耗和有效模场面积,结果表明纤芯直径9.2μm时限制损耗最低,模场面积较小.通过优化光纤的结构参量,适合于4.3μm波长处高功率中红外激光传输的空芯光子带隙光纤,其限制损耗为0.00472dB/m,有效模场面积为58.046μm2.  相似文献

设计了一种双芯高双折射光子晶体光纤,采用多极法(multipole method)和光纤的模式耦合理论研究了光纤的双折射、耦合长度以及色散特性.数值研究发现,对于空气孔节距 Λ=1.2 μm,空气孔直径d=1.0 μm的光纤,在1.55 μm处双折射度为1.24×10-2;对应x偏振模的耦合长度为21.6 μm,对应y偏振模的耦合长度为24.3 μm. 这种具有高保偏度和极短耦合长度的双芯光子晶体光纤对于微型光子器件的研制具有重 关键词: 光子晶体光纤 双芯 双折射 耦合长度  相似文献

硫系玻璃光子晶体光纤在中远红外激光传输领域具有广阔的应用前景。制备了红外波段具有优良透过特性的Ge30Sb8Se62硫系玻璃,并以此为基质材料设计了一种适合于高功率中红外激光传输的带隙型光子晶体光纤。利用平面波展开法和有限元法分析了不同结构下该光纤的光子带隙、模场面积和限制损耗特性。通过优化光纤的结构参数,获得了在10.6μm处限制损耗小于0.1dB/m的大模场(模场面积大于100μm2)光子晶体光纤。  相似文献

提出了一种光纤波导折射率渐变的新型锥形(Taper)耦合器件,其原理是基于光纤中Ge缺陷在紫外光照射下而产生的光致折射率的变化。利用光纤在高压、低温下渗氢技术使单模光纤的光致折射率变化△n达6×10-3数量级;通过控制曝光条件就可以在光纤中产生一定规律的锥形结构,使单模光纤的模场半径由4.8μm缩小到3.2μm。由耦合波理论分析表明该器件具有较好的基模传输特性。  相似文献

光子晶体光纤(PCF)与普通单模光纤(SMF)的低损耗熔接技术是光子晶体光纤走向实用化必须解决的关键技术问题。提出一种基于光纤拉锥模场匹配技术的光子晶体光纤低损耗熔接的新方法,利用熔融拉锥机对模场不匹配的两类PCF进行预处理,结合常规电弧放电熔接技术对三种不同类型的PCF与SMF的熔接损耗进行实验研究。在实验中通过精确控制熔融拉锥机各种参数,实现了不同模场直径PCF和SMF的模场匹配,该方案同时通过优化各种电弧放电参数,使熔接后的损耗降到了0.3dB以下,实现了PCF-SMF之间低损耗、高强度的熔接,满足了不同模场PCF实际应用的要求,具有很好的潜在应用价值。  相似文献

制备了一种外径远小于常规G.652光纤的大模场抗弯曲单模光纤。通过设计凹陷包层的预制棒结构,提高光缆光纤的抗弯曲性能,同时保持与G.652光纤相似的模场直径。测试结果显示光纤涂层外径为180μm、模场直径为9.1μm,且在7.5 mm半径单圈弯曲下,其宏弯损耗低于0.4 dB@1 550 nm,长期环境性能附加衰减不大于0.03 dB/km。利用这种新型光纤制备的光缆可节约44%的空间,能有效地铺设于拥挤和狭窄的通道中。  相似文献

An optical coupler distributes light from a main fiber to one or more branch fibers. Optical signals can also be passed bidirectionally along a single fiber [1]. Usually couplers are passive devices which are attached to other components in a system by means of optical fiber connectors, or may be joined to them by splicing. Several basic coupler designs have been discussed in the literature, each having some advantages and disadvantages. The biconical taper coupler [2] consists of two fibers that are fused and subsequently tapered. These fibers may have step or graded index profiles. Beam-splitter types [3] (consisting of discrete components) are generally expensive. Mixing rods are simple and can be ruggedly constructed, but an extra 3dB loss above packing fraction loss is incurred when used with graded index fibers [4].  相似文献

Low-loss splicing of index-guiding microstructured optical fibers (MOFs) and conventional single-mode fibers (SMFs) can be achieved by enlarging the mode field diameter of MOFs, which leads to an optimum mode field match at the joint interface. We study analytically the low-loss fusion splicing between an MOF and an SMF by expanding the modal field of MOF, using the controlled air-hole collapse method. Our method is simple and offers analytical solution for light coupling between MOFs and SMFs. Comparisons with available experimental and simulation results have also been included.  相似文献

To reduce interface loss between optical fibers and devices in telecommunication systems, the development of an optical-fiber-based device that can be fused directly with fibers is important. A novel optical modulator consisting of a bare fiber core surrounded by magnetic fluids instead of by a SiO2 cladding layer is proposed. Applying a magnetic field raises the refractive index of the magnetic fluid. Thus we can control the occurrence of total reflection at the interface between the fiber core and the magnetic fluid when light propagates along the fiber. As a result, the intensity of the outgoing light is modulated by variation in field strength. Details of the design, fabrication, and working properties of such a modulator are presented.  相似文献

A double tapered optical fiber sensor based on evanescent field-effect and surface modification technology was introduced in this work. Whether the liquid and gas molecules had polarities or not, they all could be detected by the sensors modified in different silane coupling agents. At the same time, the sensing characters of the single mode optical fiber with three different tapering lengths were researched, and it came to a conclusion that the optical fiber sensor had stronger evanescent field effect and higher sensitivity when length of tapered fiber was 30 mm. The functionalized tapered fibers modified by 3-aminopropyltrimethoxy silane (APTES) or 3-methylpropenylacyloxy propyltrimethoxy silane (MPAPTES), were employed to detect the polar or nonpolar molecules which had corresponding features. Further, the results of quantitative tests showed that the fiber optic sensor was sensitive to the change of the ethanol concentration and the characteristic peaks of the absorption power spectra could reach to 3–5 dB.  相似文献

为提高半导体光放大器与单模光纤耦合效率,建立了半导体放大器的锥形脊结构模型。在该模型下利用有限元数值模拟方法分析,计算了波导区折射率、锥尖宽度、条形波导尺寸、渐变折射率波导层对锥形脊结构模式扩展的影响。通过完善锥形脊结构参量的设计,获得了锥形脊结构半导体光放大器与单模光纤95%的耦合效率。  相似文献

塑料光纤的微分模延迟数据对研究塑料光纤的色散特性具有非常重要的意义。采用频域相移法测量了不同长度的两种折射率分布塑料光纤:阶跃型塑料光纤(SI—POF)和渐变型塑料光纤(GI—POF)的微分模延迟曲线。实验结果表明,由于短光纤可以忽略模式耦合和模式损耗,1m塑料光纤的微分模延迟测量值与理论计算值吻合得非常好。因此,频域相移法可以简单、方便、精确地测量塑料光纤的微分模延迟。此外,通过比较不同长度塑料光纤的微分模延迟曲线的变化,可在一定程度上分析光纤中存在的模式耦合。  相似文献

We design and model a highly compact and tunable optical add-drop multiplexer (OADM) device that consists of long-period gratings and piezoelectric ceramic fiber stretchers. The proposed OADM shows that 50 dense wavelength-division multiplexing channel signals can be selected in the wavelength range from 1526.25 to 1563.75 nm with 0.75-nm channel spacing, which covers the whole C-band gain spectrum of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier. The cross talk between channels is less than -39 dB, and the total insertion loss of the device is approximately 0.24 dB, which includes the splicing losses, the mode mismatching loss, and the expected losses in the two side-by-side coupled fibers.  相似文献
