Let k be an algebraically closed base field of characteristic zero. The category equivalence between central simple algebras and irreducible, generically free PGL n -varieties is extended to the context of central simple algebras with involution. The associated variety of a central simple algebra with involution comes with an action of , where τ is the automorphism of PGL n given by τ (h) = (h −1)transpose. Basic properties of an involution are described in terms of the action of on the associated variety, and in particular in terms of the stabilizer in general position for this action.  相似文献

In the Heisenberg group framework, we obtain a geometric inequality for stable solutions of in a domain . More precisely, if we denote the horizontal intrinsic Hessian by Hu, the mean curvature of a level set by h, its imaginary curvature by p, the intrinsic normal by ν and the unit tangent by υ, we have that
for any . Stable solutions in the entire satisfying a suitably weighted energy growth and such that are then shown to have level sets with vanishing mean curvature. F. Let A be an algebra over a field of characteristic zero with an additional structure of superalgebra or algebra with involution. The ordinary representation theory of the hyperoctahedral group is exploited in order to study the super-identities or the star-identities of A. One associates to A a sequence -characters and one of the main objective of the theory is to determine their decomposition into irreducibles. Here we classify the super-identities and the star-identities in case the corresponding multiplicities are bounded by one. This is strictly related to the varieties of algebras whose lattice of subvarieties is distributive. A. Giambruno was partially supported by MIUR of Italy. S. Let S be an infinite set of rational primes and, for some pS, let be the compositum of all extensions unramified outside S of the form , for . If , let be the intersection of the fixed fields by , for i = 1, . . , n. We provide a wide family of elliptic curves such that the rank of is infinite for all n ≥ 0 and all , subject to the parity conjecture. Similarly, let be a polarized abelian variety, let K be a quadratic number field fixed by , let S be an infinite set of primes of and let be the maximal abelian p-elementary extension of K unramified outside primes of K lying over S and dihedral over . We show that, under certain hypotheses, the -corank of sel p ∞(A/F) is unbounded over finite extensions F/K contained in . As a consequence, we prove a strengthened version of a conjecture of M. Larsen in a large number of cases.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and a formation of finite groups. We say that a subgroup H of G is -supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup T of G such that G = TH and is contained in the -hypercenter of G/H G . In this paper, we use -supplemented subgroups to study the structure of finite groups. A series of previously known results are unified and generalized. If is any ring or semi-ring (e.g., ) and G is a finite abelian group, two elements a, b of the group (semi-)ring are said to form a factorization of G if ab = rΣ gG g for some . A factorization is called quasiperiodic if there is some element gG of order m > 1 such that either a or b – say b – can be written as a sum b 0 + ... + b m−1 of m elements of such that ab h = g h ab 0 for h = 0, ... , m − 1. Hajós [5] conjectured that all factorizations are quasiperiodic when and r = 1 but Sands [15] found a counterexample for the group . Here we show however that all factorizations of abelian groups are quasiperiodic when and that all factorizations of cyclic groups or of groups of the type are quasiperiodic when . We also give some new examples of non-quasiperiodic factorizations with for the smaller groups and . Received: May 12, 2006. Revised: October 3, 2007.  相似文献

It is shown that an elliptic scattering operator A on a compact manifold with boundary with operator valued coefficients in the morphisms of a bundle of Banach spaces of class () and Pisier’s property (α) has maximal regularity (up to a spectral shift), provided that the spectrum of the principal symbol of A on the scattering cotangent bundle avoids the right half-plane. This is accomplished by representing the resolvent in terms of pseudodifferential operators with -bounded symbols, yielding by an iteration argument the -boundedness of λ(A−λ)−1 in for some . To this end, elements of a symbolic and operator calculus of pseudodifferential operators with -bounded symbols are introduced. The significance of this method for proving maximal regularity results for partial differential operators is underscored by considering also a more elementary situation of anisotropic elliptic operators on with operator valued coefficients.  相似文献

We prove some new a priori estimates for H 2-convex functions which are zero on the boundary of a bounded smooth domain Ω in a Carnot group . Such estimates are global and are geometric in nature as they involve the horizontal mean curvature of ∂Ω. As a consequence of our bounds we show that if has step two, then for any smooth H 2-convex function in vanishing on ∂Ω one has

Let $E = K{\left\langle {y_{1} ,...,y_{n} } \right\rangle }Let be the exterior algebra. The (cohomological) distinguished pairs of a graded E-module N describe the growth of a minimal graded injective resolution of N. R?mer gave a duality theorem between the distinguished pairs of N and those of its dual N *. In this paper, we show that under Bernstein–Gel’fand–Gel’fand correspondence, his theorem is translated into a natural corollary of local duality for (complexes of) graded -modules. Using this idea, we also give a -graded version of R?mer’s theorem. To the memory of Professor Tetsushi Ogoma.  相似文献

We present a randomized method to approximate any vector from a set . The data one is given is the set T, vectors of and k scalar products , where are i.i.d. isotropic subgaussian random vectors in , and . We show that with high probability, any for which is close to the data vector will be a good approximation of , and that the degree of approximation is determined by a natural geometric parameter associated with the set T. We also investigate a random method to identify exactly any vector which has a relatively short support using linear subgaussian measurements as above. It turns out that our analysis, when applied to {−1, 1}-valued vectors with i.i.d. symmetric entries, yields new information on the geometry of faces of a random {−1, 1}-polytope; we show that a k- dimensional random {−1, 1}-polytope with n vertices is m-neighborly for The proofs are based on new estimates on the behavior of the empirical process when F is a subset of the L 2 sphere. The estimates are given in terms of the γ 2 functional with respect to the ψ 2 metric on F, and hold both in exponential probability and in expectation. A circular distribution is a Galois equivariant map ψ from the roots of unity μ to an algebraic closure of such that ψ satisfies product conditions, for ϵμ and , and congruence conditions for each prime number l and with (l, s) = 1, modulo primes over l for all , where μ l and μ s denote respectively the sets of lth and sth roots of unity. For such ψ, let be the group generated over by and let be , where U s denotes the global units of . By modifying a construction for Hadamard (Menon) difference sets we construct two infinite families of negative Latin square type partial difference sets in groups of the form where p is any odd prime. One of these families has the well-known Paley parameters, which had previously only been constructed in p-groups. This provides new constructions of Hadamard matrices and implies the existence of many new strongly regular graphs including some that are conference graphs. As a corollary, we are able to construct Paley–Hadamard difference sets of the Stanton-Sprott family in groups of the form when is a prime power. These are new parameters for such difference sets.   相似文献

Let be a sequence of letters taken in a finite alphabet Θ. Let be a scoring function and the corresponding score sequence where X i = s(A i ). The local score is defined as follows: . We provide the exact distribution of the local score in random sequences in several models. We will first consider a Markov model on the score sequence , and then on the letter sequence . The exact P-value of the local score obtained with both models are compared thanks to several datasets. They are also compared with previous results using the independent model.  相似文献

We study several deformation functors associated to the normalization of a reduced curve singularity . The main new results are explicit formulas, in terms of classical invariants of (X, 0), for the cotangent cohomology groups T i , i  =  0,1,2, of these functors. Thus we obtain precise statements about smoothness and dimension of the corresponding local moduli spaces. We apply the results to obtain explicit formulas, respectively, estimates for the -codimension of a parametrized curve singularity, where denotes the Mather–Wall group of left-right equivalence.  相似文献

Let be the modular curve associated to a congruence subgroup Γ of level N with , and let be its canonical model over . The main aim of this paper is to show that the endomorphism algebra of its Jacobian is generated by the Hecke operators T p , with , together with the “degeneracy operators” D M,d , D t M,d , for .
