New 100 GeV/cpp data are used to find moments of the difference between the pp and pp topological cross sections. The mean multiplicity for annihilations at 100 GeV/c is estimated to be 9.06 ± 0.56, and the value of the quantity 〈n〉/D to be 2.75 ± 0.33. It is shown that Rn = {σn(pp) ? σn(pp)}/σn(pp) appears at 100 GeV/c to have acquired an asymptotic form, Rn = s?αβn, with α and β constant.  相似文献

No perturbation between two valence states of NO has ever been identified, although many valence-Rydberg and several Rydberg-Rydberg perturbations have been extensively studied. The first valence-valence crossing to be experimentally documented for NO is reported here and occurs between the 15N18O B2Π (v = 18) and B2Δ (v = 1) levels. No level shifts larger than the detection limit of 0.1 cm?1 are observed at the crossings near J = 6.5 [B 2Π(F1) ~ B′ 2Δ(F2)] and J = 12.5 [B 2Π(F1) ~ B′ 2Δ(F1)]; two crossings involving higher rotational levels could not be examined. Semi-empirical calculations of spin-orbit and Coriolis perturbation matrix elements indicate that although the electronic part of the B 2Π ~ B′ 2Δ interaction is large, a small vibrational factor renders the 15N18O B (v = 18) ? B′ (v = 1) perturbation unobservable. Semi-empirical estimates are given for all perturbation matrix elements of the operators Σia?ili·si and B(L±S? ? J±L?) which connect states belonging to the configurations (σ2p)2(π2p)412p), (σ2p)(π2p)412p)2, and (σ2p)2(π2p)312p)2.  相似文献

We make a theoretical and phenomenological study of correlations between neutral and charged pions in multiparticle production in the framework of the so-called σ, π, ? and ?-? models. Following the method of Drijard and Pokorski, we express the predictions of various models in terms of the negative multiplicity distribution, which is known experimentally. In particular we compute the average number of π0, n0 (n_), and the integral of π0?π0 correlations, f02(n_), as a function of the number of negative pions; we study also the total multiplicity distribution P(N) and its first two moments Nand Dtot2. We show that with the present experimental accuracy neither n0(n_) allow us to discriminate between the different models.  相似文献

We measured the total cross section for pp scattering at s = 52.8 GeV at the CERN ISR, using the direct, total-rate method. The result obtained, σtot(pp) = 44.70 ± 0.53 mb, shows that, in common with σtot(pp), this cross section also starts to rise in the ISR energy range. We remeasured the total cross section for pp scattering at the same energy, obtaining σtot(pp) = 43.26 ± 0.33 mb, and found for the difference, Δσtot = σtot(pp) ? σtot(pp), a value of 1.44±0.45 mb.  相似文献

Cross section of the multipomeron production of heavy showers is calculated and found at very high energy in the form σ′AB = [1 ? (sOs)γ] σABtot. It is shown that the multiperipheral part of the total cross section decreases at s → ∞: σAB(0) = σABtot ? σ′AB = (sOs)γ·σABtot where the constant γ can be obtained from ISR data on proton spectra. It is found to be numerically very small γ ~ 10?2. It follows that at accessible energies the value of σ′AB ≈ (γlnssO)· σABtot must be small, logarithmically increasing with energy. This prediction can be checked experimentally on new accelerators.  相似文献

From the scaling law for the s-channel partial wave amplitudes, which guarantees simultaneously t-channel unitarity at threshold t = 4μ2 and s-channel unitarity, we derive: (i) The intercept α(0) of the Pomeron is always one, if α(4μ2) > 1. (ii) The total and the elastic cross sections are bounded from below for s → ∞.

Dependence of static dielectric susceptibility and correlation length of charge density waves (CDW) with weak defects on parameter of incommensurability with lattice is investigated. Amorphous Fe40Ni40B20 (VITROVAC 0040) alloy has been investigated using 57Fe Mössbauer Spectroscopy. The Curie temperature Tc is found to be well defined and is 695 ± 1 K. The quadrupole splitting just above Tc is 0.64 mm sec?1. The crystallization temperature is 698 ± 2 K, close to but definitely above Tc. The average hyperfine field Heff(T) of the glassy state shows a temperature dependence of Heff(0)[1 ? B32(T/Tc)32 ? C52(T/Tc)52 ? …] indicative of the existence of spin wave excitations. The values of B32 and C52 are found to be 0.40 and 0.06, respectively, for T/Tc ? 0.72. At temperatures close to Tc, Heff(T) varies as (1 ? T/Tc)β where β is one of the critical exponents and its value is found to be 0.29 ± 0.02.  相似文献

Double-scattering effects are studied in π?d interactions at 360 GeV/c. The partial cross sections σN?d), σN(“π?p”) and σN(“π?n”) are presented. The double-scattering probability per πd collision is found to be ? = 0.15 ± 0.02. We have extracted the partial cross section XN of the double-scattering plus interference contributions, and find that XN obeys KNO scaling. The data are compared with various theoretical predictions.  相似文献

In this note we determine the oscillator strengths for the dipole absorption of neutral bound excitons in direct gap semiconductors, using our previously obtained 35-term Page and Fraser type wave function, and taking into account the detailed electronic structure as well as the electron-hole exchange interaction.The envelope part of the oscillator strengths varies considerably with the electron-hole mass ratio σ = m1em1h, and is maximum for the (D0, X)- complex when σ = 0.4. For typical σ-values (σ? 0.1–0.2), ?(D0,X) ? 10?(A0,X). But when σ approaches zero, the overlapping of the electron and the hole envelope wave functions of the (A0,X)-complex decreases progressively so that the oscillator strength also decreases and tends to zero.In the case of zinc-blende materials (Td) and positive spin-orbit coupling at k = 0, we confirm that the line strength for transitions to or from J = 126) or J = 527 + Γ8) level of the (A0, X)-complex is equal to one quarter of the line strength to or from the J = 328) level.In the case of CdS, where our computed values are only in qualitative agreement with the experimental values, we discuss the use of the phenomenological result of Rashba.  相似文献

Hyperfine structure of the (0, 0, 1) - (1, 0, 1) transition of methanol has been investigated by beam absorption and of the (J, 1, 3?) → (J, 1, 3+) transitions for J = 2, 3, and 6 by beam-maser spectroscopy. The best-fit results for the spin-rotation and spin-spin coupling constants CJKτ±(i) and DJKτ±(i), respectively, are in kHz1: C101(1) = 2.4(10), C101(2) = ?0.6(10), D101(1) = ?13.8(9), D101(2) = 7.0(9), C213?(1) = ?5.0(10), C213?(2) = ?5.5(10) and (CJ13?(2) - CJ13+(2)) = 0.98(9).  相似文献

The cyclotron resonance of inversion-layer electrons on (100)p-type Si is found to depend sensitively on an externally applied compressive stress. At low temperatures (T ? 10 K) we observe a considerable increase of the cyclotron mass m1c with stress S along the [001] direction. The effect is most strongly observed at low electron densities ns. For S~1.5 × 109dynecm2 and ns~2 × 1011cm-2 we obtain m1c~0.4 m0 instead of the expected 0.2m0. Along with this change of m1c a strong narrowing of the resonance is noted. Raising the temperature gives an additional ns- dependent increase of m1c.  相似文献

The magnetic moments of the 12+ isomers in 192, 196, 198, 200, 206Pb and of the 332+ isomer in 205Pb have been measured using the PAD technique. The results for the g-factors are: g(192) = ?0.173(2), g(196) = ?0.1600(15), g(198) = ?0.1552(15), g(200) = ?0.1512(15), g(206) = ?0.1496(18), and g(205) = ?0.148(5). As all states have a rather pure (νi132)?n configuration, the values reflect directly the νi132 orbital. They show a decrease towards the more neutron-deficient isotopes attributed to the reduced core polarisation as a result of decreasing occupation of the i132 neutron shell. The measured systematics are discussed regarding core polarisation, mesonic corrections, and small admixtures of core-excited states to the i132 wave function.  相似文献

The threshold behaviour of pion production presented in our earlier work is successfully compared with the new SPEAR data. By using duality and sum rules we derive FT(π+)(x) ≈ FL(π+)(x) ≈ FT(π0)(x) ? FL(π0)(x) for x near 1. An accompanying results is σπA2(s) ≈ 2σπω(s) ≈ 4σππ(s) ≈ 9(m?2/s)3σμμ for large s.  相似文献

The cross-channel isospin amplitude ∣M012 is measured in the single reaction γn → ?0(pπ?) at 7.5 GeV assuming the ?0 dominance model. A low-mass enhancement is found for ∣M0122 in the range of m(pπ?) of ~1.2 to ~1.7 GeV. The reaction strongly violates s-channel helicity conservation but is consistent with t-channel helicity conservation. The ∣M012 features are found to be very similar to those obtained in previous analyses of πp → π(Nπ) reactions.  相似文献

The difference in g-factors for the 61+ and 81+(πh922) states in 210Po has been measured as (g6 ? g8)g8 = 2.0 ± 0.7%. This result represents a small violation of additivity. A value of g8 = 0.909 ± 0.011, independent of g6, was also obtained.  相似文献

The average multiplicity in deep inelastic electro- and neutrinoproduction at large ω(ωs/Q2 + 1) is related in Feynman's version of the parton model to the average multiplicities in high-energy electron-positron annihilation and hadron-hadron scattering. The relation is: 〈n(s, Q2)〉ePP ~ Ce+e?ln(Q2M1⊥2) + Chln(ω ? 1), where Ce+e? and Ch are, respectively, the coefficients of ln(s/M1⊥2) in the multiplicities from e+-e? and P-P in to hadrons, and M1⊥ is an average transverse mass.  相似文献

Masses of all the glueballs which are created by 6- or 7-link operators are calculated to order g?8 in pure SU(3) hamiltonian lattice gauge theory. Several low-lying states are found with masses m(0++1)~ 1.4 ms, m(0++7) ~ 1.7 ms (1 and 7 stand for radial excitations and ms is the mass of the lowest 0++ state), m(0??) ~ 2.2 ms, m(1+?1) ~ m(1.6 ms, m(1?+) ~ 1.8 ms, m(1??) ~ 2.2 ms and m(2++) ~ 1.3 ms. These values are obtained at the point g?2 ? 0.8, which lies near the scaling region.  相似文献

We measured the differential cross section for p?p and pp elastic scattering in the momentum-transfer range 0.01 <|t| < 1.0 GeV2 at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings with center-of-mass energy s = 52.8 GeV. Fitting the differential cross section with an exponential [Aexp (bt)], we found bpp = 13.92 ± 0.59 GeV?2 for |t| < 0.05 GeV2, whilst for |t| > 0.09 GeV2, bpp = 10.68 ± 0.26 GeV?2. Using the optical theorem, we obtained for the total cross section σtot(pp)= 44.86 ± 0.78 mb and, by integrating the differential cross section, we obtained for the total elastic cross section σel(pp) = 7.89 ± 0.28 mb. Calculations of σtot combining elastic-rate and total-rate measurements are also given. All of these measurements were also performed for pp scattering at the same energy, and the results for both reactions are compared.  相似文献

A study is presented of the inclusive production cross sections of K(892) vector mesons in pp interactions at 12 and 24 GeV/c and in π+p interactions at 16 GeV/c. The K inclusive cross section is ~0.9 mb for both pp at 24 GeV/c and π+p interactions at 16 GeV/c. For pp interactions, σ(K1+) and σ(K1?) are seen to rise with energy, showing a threshold behaviour. In both pp and π+p interactions, σ(K1+) largely exceeds σ(K1?) at these energies and this excess is interpreted as K1+ production by beam and target fragmentations. The decays of K1±0 yield ~30% of the K0 observed in the final states. The pT2 dependence of both K1+ and K1? cross sections is described by an exponential with slope of ~3.3 (GeV/c)?2. The longitudinal momentum spectra for K1+ in 16 GeV/cπ+p and 24 GeV/c pp interactions are similar in shape in the target hemisphere. The K1? spectra are similar over the whole kinematic region when viewed in the quark c.m.s. and point to a central production mechanism. Comparing K1+ and ρ0 production, striking similarities are found.  相似文献
