The grown crystal was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction and FT-IR studies. The direct band gap energy was found to be 5.4 eV. The SHG efficiency of the sample is 3 times higher than that of KDP crystal. The laser damage threshold of the grown crystal was 5.7 GW/cm2. The grown crystal was thermally stable up to 141 °C. Low dielectric constant at higher frequency was found by dielectric measurements. The activation energy was calculated from Arrhenius relation and it was found to be 0.088 eV. Negative photoconducting nature was obtained by photoconductivity measurements.  相似文献

In this work, a new semi-organic nonlinear optical material of Potassium boro-oxalate (KBO) is synthesized and subsequently a single crystal of size 7 × 5 × 3 mm3 is grown from the aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at ambient temperature. Characterizations are performed on the single crystals to study the structural, thermal, linear and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of the as-grown single crystals. Crystal and molecular structure of KBO are solved by direct method and further refinement is performed by full-matrix least-square method employing SHELXL-2014 software. Single crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) studies revealed that the grown crystal associates to triclinic crystal family with non-centrosymmetric space group P1. The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum reflected the presence of various functional groups in the title compound. The Ultraviolet-visible-near infrared (UV-VIS-NIR) absorption and transmission spectrum are recorded to capture the suitability of the grown single crystals for various optical and NLO applications. The thermal decomposition and thermal stability of the KBO single crystals up to 187°C are investigated by TGA-DTG (Thermo Gravimetric - Differential Thermo Gravimetric), TGA-DTA (Thermo Gravimetric-Differential Thermal analysis) and DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) curves. Kurtz-Perry powder technique is employed to explore the SHG (Second Harmonic Generation) efficiency of the KBO single crystals. SHG efficiency of KBO is found to be comparable to KDP.  相似文献

We have grown organic nonlinear optical 4-methoxy benzaldehyde-N-methyl-4-stilbazolium tosylate (MBST) crystals by slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were analyzed by powder XRD, FTIR, NMR, UV, Thermal, mechanical and dielectric measurements. Lattice parameters and crystallinity of the crystal is confirmed by the XRD studies. The FTIR and NMR studies give the details about the various functional groups present. In order to study the optical quality of the crystal, the UV-vis absorption spectrum was recorded and cut-off wavelength was determined. Melting point of the crystal is found from the differential scanning calorimetry. The powder SHG studies were done with the Kurtz powder technique and the NLO efficiency is 17.2 times greater than that of urea. The surface of the grown crystal was analyzed with etching. Laser damage threshold studies have been carried out for the crystal using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser of 10 ns pulses.  相似文献

Single crystals of glycine nitrate [(C2H6NO2)+ · (NO3)] were grown using submerged seed solution method. The crystals were characterized by using single crystal X-ray diffraction and density measurements. Spectroscopic, thermal and optical studies were carried out for analyzing the presence of the functional groups, thermal stability, decomposition and transparency of the sample. These studies showed that the crystals are thermally stable upto 145 °C and transparent for the fundamental and second harmonic generation of Nd:YAG (λ = 1064 nm) laser. Second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency was investigated to explore the NLO characteristics of this material. Microhardness and dielectric studies were also carried out.  相似文献

A series of l-amino acids, isoleucine, valine, glutamine, methionine, arginine, cystine and aspargine are employed to form picrates with picric acid (1:1). A comparison of cell parameters reveals that expected picrates are formed only in the case of l-valine and l-isoleucine. l-Isoleucinium picrate (LIP), a new nonlinear optical material was grown from aqueous medium by the slow evaporation of equimolar mixture of l-isoleucine and picric acid. The structure of the grown crystal as determined by single crystal XRD diffraction analysis reveals that it belongs to the monoclinic system with space group P21 and the cell parameter values are, a = 9.970(3) Å; b = 6.425(2) Å; c = 12.871(4) Å; β = 109.54(3)°; V = 770.0(4) Å3; Z = 2. The presence of functional groups in the LIP is confirmed by FT-IR vibrational patterns and the good crystallinity indicated by powder X-ray diffraction method. The relative second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency measurements reveal that the LIP is a highly efficient nonlinear optical (NLO) material having an activity 16 times as that of the reference material potassium dihydrogen phosphate. The optical transparency has been studied using UV–vis spectrophotometer and the absorption is minimum in the visible region. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses reveal the purity of the sample and no decomposition is observed up to the melting point.  相似文献

SCN ligand based organometallic non-linear optical mercury cadmium chloride thiocyanate (MCCTC) crystals are grown from water plus methanol mixed solvent by slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals are confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. MCCTC exhibits a SHG efficiency which is nearly 17 times more than that of KDP. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss and ac conductivity measurements of the sample have been carried out for different frequencies (100 Hz to 5 MHz) and, temperatures (308–388 K) and the results are discussed. Photoconductivity study confirms that the title compound possesses negative photoconducting nature. The surface morphology of MCCTC was also investigated.  相似文献

Transparent crystals of α-glycine with barium nitrate and calcium nitrate (GBC) have been grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. Crystals of size 22 × 25 × 4 mm3 have been obtained in 3-4 weeks time. The solubility of GBC has been determined in water. The grown crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with cell parameters a = 12.7321 A.U, b = 13.7752 A.U and c = 8.6002 A.U with unit cell volume of 1508.36 (A.U)3. Comparative IR and Raman studies indicate a molecule with a lack of center of symmetry. A wide transparency window useful for optoelectronic applications is indicated by the UV Studies. Using Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm), the optical second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency of GBC is found to be 0.702 times than that of standard KDP. On exposure to light the GBC crystals exhibit positive photoconductivity. I-V characteristics, dielectrics studies, electrical and Vickers micro hardness measurement have been carried out. The GBC crystal exhibits more mechanical strength compared to the reported GSN crystals.  相似文献

Nonlinear optical (NLO) materials are useful in many of the industrial applications. New NLO chalcone derivative (2E)-3-[4-(methylsulfanyl)phenyl]-1-(4-nitrophenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (4N4MSP) crystals have been grown by slow evaporation technique at ambient temperature. The grown crystals were subjected to single crystal X-ray diffraction study. The crystal has noncentrosymmetric structure in the orthorhombic system with space group Aba2 and unit cell parameters a=14.0647(15) Å, b=33.738(4) Å and c=6.0039(6) Å. To confirm the presence of various functional groups in the compound, FT-IR spectrum was recorded. The crystal was subjected to TGA/DTA analysis to find its thermal stability. The grown crystals were characterized for their optical transmission and mechanical hardness. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the crystal is obtained by classical powdered technique using Nd:YAG laser and its value is 28.57 times that of urea. The laser damage threshold for 4N4MSP crystal was determined using Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The refractive index values for green and red wavelengths were measured by Brewster angle technique. The dielectric and electrical measurements were carried out to study the different polarization mechanism and conductivity of the crystal. Good thermal, mechanical, transmission and SHG response make it desirable for the NLO applications.  相似文献

Semiorganic nonlinear optical material of dichloro(beta-alanine)cadmium(II) (DCBAC) have been synthesized and single crystals were grown by solvent evaporation method at room temperature. The lattice parameters of the grown crystals are determined by single crystal XRD. The modes of vibration of different molecular groups present in the sample were identified by the FTIR spectral analysis. Thermal stability of the crystal was investigated using thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The dielectric constants of the crystal were studied as a function of frequency and the results are discussed. The grown crystals are subjected to microhardness studies and the variation of the microhardness with the applied load is studied. The optical transmission spectra and second harmonic generation (SHG) were investigated to study its linear and nonlinear optical properties. The nonlinear optical (NLO) property of the crystal was confirmed by powder second harmonic generation (SHG) test. SHG efficiency is comparable to that of KDP.  相似文献

A new nonlinear optical semiorganic crystal, benzyltributylammonium trichlorobarium(II) monohydrate was grown by slow evaporation solution growth method at ambient temperature. The powder X-ray diffraction pattern of the crystal confirms its crystallinity. The absorption spectrum of the material shows a peak at 265 nm and no absorption observed in the entire visible region indicates that the compound can be used as a nonlinear optical material. The optical transmittance spectrum of the grown crystal shows a lower cut-off wavelength at 235 nm with transparency of 88%. Thermal stability of the crystal was studied by thermogravimetry-differential thermogravimetry and differential thermal analyses (TG-DTG and DTA). The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis shows thermal anomalies in the heating and cooling cycles that indicates the occurrence of a first order phase transition. The various characteristics absorption chemical bands and BaCl3 vibration were assigned through fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectral analysis. The second harmonic generation efficiency (SHG) of the grown crystal was analyzed by Kurtz–Perry powder technique using Nd:YAG laser. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the compound decrease with increase in frequency.  相似文献

Transparent crystals of novel non-linear optical material comprising of glycine sodium-zinc sulfate (GSZS) have been grown in our laboratory from solution by slow evaporation technique. Transparent crystals of dimensions (8 × 7 × 4 mm3) have been obtained in 3-4 weeks time. The solubility in water shows linear variation in temperatures range from 300 K to 350 K. The GSZS crystal exhibits orthorhombic symmetry with a = 5.418 A.U., b = 6.084 A.U and c = 3.497 A.U. The intense XRD peak is found at 25.43°. The presence of functional groups has been studied by FTIR analysis and verified by laser Raman spectra. Lower cutoff wavelength and enhanced transparency window with a typical energy gap of 5.85 eV are suggested by the UV measurements. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of GSZS is found to be 0.62 times than that of standard KDP using modified Kurtz and Perry technique. The GSZS crystal exhibits a normal dielectric behavior.  相似文献

Single crystal x-ray diffraction analysis reveals the unit cell parameters of the grown crystal are a = 9.494(4) Å, b = 9.864(2) Å, c = 19.501(7) Å and it belongs to monoclinic system with noncentrosymmetric space group. Optical transmittance of the grown crystal has been studied by UV-Vis-NIR spectrum. The optical properties of FNS have been studied by means of optical transmittance measurements in the wavelength range of 190–1100 nm The optical constants were calculated from the optical transmittance (T) data such as refractive index (n), extinction coefficient (k) and reflectance (R). The optical band gap (Eg) of FNS is 3.27 eV with direct transition. The complex dielectric (?) constant of the grown FNS crystal was determined. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the grown FNS crystal has been studied by using Kurtz-Perry powder technique and it shows 12 times relatively greater than KDP.  相似文献

Structural parameters of the grown LKS crystal were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. LKS crystal belongs to hexagonal system with non-centrosymmetric space group P63. The functional elements presented in the compound were analyzed by ICP-OES test. Thermal property of the sample was evaluated by tracing TGA and DSC plots. UV–Vis spectral studies revealed the lower cut-off wavelength, transparency and band gap (4.9 eV) of LKS crystal. Multi-shot laser damage threshold value of LKS crystal was found to be 4.2 GW/cm2. Using Kurtz and Perry powder technique, the second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency was found. The photoluminescence, dielectric, mechanical and etching studies were also studied to test the LKS crystal for NLO application.  相似文献

Amino acid based crystals exhibit excellent nonlinear and electro-optical properties. A new nonlinear optical single crystal l-phenylalaninium trichloroacetate (LPTCA) belonging to the amino acid group was grown by the slow evaporation solution growth method. The grown crystals have been subjected to powder X-ray diffraction studies to identify the crystalline nature. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study showed that LPTCA belongs to monoclinic crystal system. Fourier transform infrared study is used to confirm the presence of various functional groups in the grown crystal. Optical transparency of the grown crystals was investigated by UV-vis-NIR spectrum. The lower optical cutoff wavelength for this crystal is observed at 254 nm and energy band gap is 4.89 eV. Thermal properties of the LPTCA crystal were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) techniques, which indicate that the material does not decompose before melting. The melting point of grown crystal was observed to be 136 °C in a melting point apparatus. The existence of nonlinear optical (NLO) property of LPTCA was confirmed by second harmonic generation test using Nd:YAG laser fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm.  相似文献
