Two novel chromogenic 1,3-alternate calix[4]azacrown (1) and calix[4]-bis-azacrown (2) in which an indoaniline chromophore was attached on the nitrogen atom of the azacrown unit with one methylene spacer were synthesized. The 1H NMR spectrum of the ligand 1 and Ca2+ proved that the metal ion is entrapped by the calix[4]azacrown unit and by the conjugated indoaniline system. From the UV/vis band shifts upon metal ion complexation, Zn2+ ion was found to give the largest band shifts compared to other metal cations, indicating that Zn2+ ion (K(a) = 18 760 M(-)(1) for 1 and K(a) = 19 930 M(-1) for 2) was selectively encapsulated by the calix[4]azacrown cavity with assistance of the pendent indoaniline sidearm.  相似文献

A series of 1,3-alternate chromogenic azo-coupled calix[4]biscrowns in which the crown size varied with crown-5 and crown-6 have been synthesized. From the results of UV/vis band shift upon metal ion complexation, metal ions were entrapped only by the upper crown loop, causing the hypsochromic shift on the UV/vis spectra. Calix[4]bis(crown-5)(crown-6) revealed K(+) ion selectivity while calix[4]bis(crown-6)(crown-6) showed Cs(+) ion selectivity caused by a size complementarity between hosts and guest ions. From the UV band shift of 4 in which the NO(2) group is replaced by the NH(2) group, we observed bathochromic shift upon the metal ion addition, indicating that the metal ion is encapsulated in the lower crown ring because of strengthened pi-cation interaction by introducing the electron-donating NH(2) unit regardless of the steric hindrance between two azo-phenyl groups adjacent to the crown ring.  相似文献

Calix[4]arenes constrained to the 1,3-alternate conformation and functionalized at the upper rim with four and two tert-butylnitroxides have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography, magnetic resonance (EPR and (1)H NMR) spectroscopy, and magnetic studies. The 1,3-alternate nitroxide tetraradical and diradical provide unique polyradical scaffolds for dissection of the through-bond and through-space intramolecular exchange couplings. In addition, detailed magnetic studies of the previously reported calix[4]arene nitroxide tetraradical, which possesses cone conformation in solution, reveal conformational dependence of exchange coupling. Through-bond coupling between the adjacent nitroxide radicals is mediated by the nitroxide-m-phenylene-CH(2)-m-phenylene-nitroxide coupling pathway, and through-space coupling is found between the diagonal nitroxide radicals at the conformationally constrained N...N distance of 5-6 A. Magnetic studies of the calix[4]arene polyradical scaffolds in frozen solutions show that the through-bond exchange coupling in the 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene tetraradical is antiferromagnetic, while that in cone calix[4]arene tetraradical is ferromagnetic. The through-space exchange couplings are antiferromagnetic in both cone and 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene tetraradical, as well as in the 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene diradical. The exchange coupling constants (|J/k|) are of the order of 1 K.  相似文献

The preparation of new 25,27-bis(alkyloxy)calix[4]arenes-crown-6 in the cone, partial-cone and 1,3-alternate conformation is reported. We have also investigated the alkylation of the cone monoalkylated calix[4]arene-crown-6 achieved using Cs 2 CO 3 . This reaction afforded a mixture of cone and partial-cone calix[4]arenes-crown-6 having an alkyl chain anti or syn to the polyether ring. Conformations have been probed using 1 H, 13 C, 2D-NMR and NOESY analysis, and using X-ray crystallography. Extraction experiments using a two-phase solvent method involving cesium picrate were performed for these newly synthesized conformers. They reveal and confirm the strong preference for the 1,3-alternate conformers. The affinity of 1,3-alternate calixarenes for Cs + has been assessed by complexation measurements (log g ) using a spectrophotometric technique. No significant Cs + extraction difference was observed in relation to the nature of the alkyl chains on the aromatic rings. 1 H NMR studies of the 1,3-alternate calixarene Cs + complexes confirms the cation's spacial position between the two aromatic rings, due to cation- ~ interactions.  相似文献

Four nano-baskets of calixarene including cone 25,27-di(carboxymethoxy)calix[4]arene-crown-5, 1,3-alternate 25,27-di[carboxymethoxy]-calix[4]arene-crown-5, cone 25,27-bis[carboxymethoxy]calix[4]arene-crown-6 and 1,3-alternate 25,27-di[carboxymethoxy]-calix[4]arene-crown-6 were synthesized and their binding abilities towards alkali and alkaline earth metals as well as some lanthanides were studied using differential pulse voltammetry. The novelty of this study was investigation of those macrocyclic complexes by voltammetric behaviors of two acidic moieties in each scaffold during complexation of crown ether ring. Their voltammetric behaviors were closely related to the complex formation by entrapment of cation into crown ether cavity and ion–dipole interaction between cation and acidic moieties in calixcrowns. The results revealed the selective changes in voltammetric behavior of synthesized scaffolds toward the cations. Moreover, the position of crown ether in 1,3-alternate instead of cone enhanced the domain of binding ability to more cations. Furthermore, it was shown that those carboxylic acid moieties, which were far from the crown ether ring in the 1,3-alternate, did not affected by encapsulated cations in the coordination space of crown ether and showed no voltammetric behavior.  相似文献

Five novel 1,3-alternate calix[4]azacrown ethers having 2-picolyl, 3-picolyl, and benzyl unit on the nitrogen atom were synthesized and used as ionophores for transition metal-selective polymeric membrane electrodes. The electrode based on 2-picolyl armed 1,3-alternate calix [4] azacrown ether exhibited Nernstian response toward copper (II) ion over a concentration range (10(-4.5) M-10(-2.5) M). The detection limit was determined as 10(-5) M in pH 7 and the selectivity coefficients for possible interfering cations were evaluated. Anions in the sample solution strongly affected the electrode response.  相似文献

1,3-Alternate calix[4]arene crown-5 (1) and corresponding biscrown-5 (2) were synthesized and the complexation behavior with alkali metal ions examined. For both 1 and 2, potassium ion was selectively extracted from aqueous phase into organic phase over other alkali metal ions based on two phase extraction experiment. The complexation ratio between calix[4]arene biscrown-5 (2), in which two crown cavities connect to the calix[4]arene framework by 1,3-alternate fashion and potassium metal ion is found to 1:1 by proton NMR spectroscopy and extraction equilibria. Association constants (logKa) for 1 and 2 were determined to give 2.51 and 3.49, respectively.  相似文献

A series of stilbene-bridged calix[4]arenes was synthesized through an intramolecular reductive McMurry coupling of bisbenzaldehyde calix[4]arene in high yields. Tetra- and pentaethylene glycol chains were tethered to the phenolic groups of calix[4]arene to form stilbene-bridged calix[4]arene crown-5 and crown-6, respectively. The presence of stilbene bridge over the calix[4]arene rim effectively prevented the connection of the polyether chains in the cone conformation resulting in the exclusive formation of 1,3-alternate stilbene-bridged calix[4]arene crown product. Compared to the cone analogues, the 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene crown ethers showed a greater extraction ability and selectivity toward Cs+.  相似文献

Deprotonation of calix[6]arenes with barium in methanol followed by the addition of [Ti(OPr(i))(4)] or [Zr(OBu(n))(4)] is effective in the formation of novel dimeric 2:1 barium-titanium(IV)/zirconium(IV) calix[6]arene complexes. In these complexes a central Ti(IV)/Zr(IV) coordinated in the exo-position connects the two calix[6]arenes in the 1,3-alternate conformation, each with an endo-barium sharing common phenolate groups with the titanium/zirconium centre and participating in cation-pi interactions. A homometallic barium calix[6]arene dimer was also prepared wherein the calix[6]arenes are in the 1,3-alternate conformation with each coordinating one endo- and one exo-barium centre. The exo-barium cations connect the two calix[6]arenes through bridging methanol ligands. In this and the heterometallic complexes, cation-pi complexation of the Ba(2+) ion within the 1,3 alternate conformation of calix[6]arene facilitates the formation of the dimeric complexes in methanol. In contrast, the smaller Sr(2+) ion did not form similar complexes in methanol, and the formation of an analogous 2:1 strontium-titanium calixarene complex required the use of the more sterically demanding donor alcohol, isopropanol, the resulting complex being devoid of cation-pi interaction. The results show (i) that a subtle interplay of solvation strength, coordination array type and cavity/cation size influences the accessibility of heterobimetallic complexes based on calix[6]arenes, and (ii) a synergistic endo-exo binding behaviour.  相似文献

An excimer-based, binuclear, on-off switchable calix[4]crown chemosensor   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
A new fluorescent chemosensor with two different types of cation binding sites on the lower rims of a 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene (1) is synthesized. Two pyrene moieties linked to a cation recognition unit composed of two amide groups form a strong excimer in solution. For 1, the excimer fluorescence is quenched by Pb2+, but revived by addition of K+ to the Pb2+ ligand complex. Thus, metal ion exchange produces an on-off switchable, fluorescent chemosensor. Computational results show that the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals (LUMO) of the two pyrene moieties interact under UV irradiation of 1 and its K+ complex, while such HOMO-LUMO interactions are absent in the Pb2+ complex.  相似文献

The experimental IR and Far IR spectra of the calix[4]arene, p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene, thialcalix[4]arene and p-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene were examined at different temperatures and interpreted. The band frequencies and intensities in the IR spectra of the calix[4]arene and thialcalix[4]arene were calculated. The absorption curves of the four possible calix[4]arene conformations: cone, partial cone, 1,2- and 1,3-alternate were computed. The bands characteristic for each conformation are defined and assigned. The obtained spectra-structure correlation can be used for the characteristic of calixarenes conformation.  相似文献

A novel fluorescent on-off switchable chemosensor 1 with two different types of cationic binding sites is synthesized, which is composed of a triazole-modified calix[4]crown in the 1,3-alternate conformation. Among 15 metal ions examined, the fluorescence of 1 was strongly quenched by Hg2+, Cu2+, Cr3+, and Pb2+; however, the revival of emission from the strongly quenched 1.Pb2+ complex was achievable by the addition of K+, Ba2+, or Zn2+ ions. Thus, metal ion exchange can trigger an on-off switchable fluorescent chemosensor.  相似文献

For an assessment of the outcomes from use of an appropriately "preorganized" calixarene-based ionophore versus its conformationally mobile prototype, solvent extraction propensities of flexible calix[4]arene di-[N-(X-sulfonyl)carboxamides] for alkali, alkaline earth metal cations, Pb2+, Ag+ and Hg2+ are compared with those for seven new rigid analogs fixed in the cone, partial cone and 1,3-alternate conformations. For each of the metal ions, the preferred calix[4]arene conformation was determined from the NMR spectra for the metal salt of the flexible ligand. Except for Ag+, flexible calix[4]arene di-[N-(X-sulfonyl)carboxamides] were found to provide greater metal ion extraction efficiency and better selectivity than the corresponding "preorganized" ionophores.  相似文献

A calix[4]pyrrole incorporating four appended tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) units has been synthesized, and its receptor abilities toward neutral electron-deficient guests, such as 1,3,5-trinitrobenzene, tetrafluoro-p-benzoquinone, and tetrachloro-p-benzoquinone, have been studied in solution by UV-vis and 1H NMR spectroscopies as well as in the solid-state by X-ray crystallography. In its 1,3-alternate conformation a 1:2 sandwich-like complex-stabilized by charge transfer and hydrogen bonding interactions-is formed between the tetra-TTF calix[4]pyrrole and the guest molecules. However, upon addition of chloride ions to the complex the 1,3-alternate conformation is changed in favor of a cone conformation which serves to effect a release of the guests from the tetra-TTF calix[4]pyrrole.  相似文献

The cation-pi interaction influence on the conformation and binding of calix[4]arenes to alkali-metal cations has been studied using a dehydroxylated model. The model allows for the separation of cooperative cation-pi and electrostatic forces commonly found in the binding motifs found in calixarene complexes. Starting from the four well-known calix[4]arene conformations, six conformers for this dehydroxylated model (cone, partial cone, flattened cone, chair, 1,2-alternate, and 1,3-alternate) have been characterized by geometry optimization and frequency analysis using the Becke three-parameter exchange functional with the nonlocal correlation functional of Lee, Yang, and Parr and the 6-31G(d) basis set. Without the stabilization provided by the hydroxyl hydrogen bonds in calix[4]arene, neither the cone nor the 1,2-alternate conformation is computed to be a ground-state structure. The partial cone, flattened cone, chair, and 1,3-alternate conformers have been identified as ground-state structures in a vacuum, with the partial cone and the 1,3-alternate as the lowest energy minima in the aromatic model. The C(4)(v)() cone conformation is found to be a transition structure separating the flattened cone (C(2)(v)()) conformers. The energetic and structural preferences of the calix[4]arene model change dramatically when it is bound to Li(+), Na(+), and K(+). The number of pi-faces, the positioning of these pi-faces with respect to the cations, and the nature of the cation were studied as factors in the binding strength. A detailed study of the distances and angles between the aromatic ring centroids and the cations reveals the energetic advantages of multiple weak cation-pi interactions. The geometries are often far from the optimal cation-pi interaction in which the cation approaches in a perpendicular path the aromatic ring center, where the quadrupole moment is strongest. The results reveal that multiple weaker nonoptimal cation-pi interactions contribute significantly to the overall binding strength. This theoretical analysis underscores the importance of neighboring aromatic faces and provides new insight into the significance of cation-pi binding, not only for calix[4]arenes, but also for other supramolecular and biological systems.  相似文献

A series of novel tetrahomodioxacalix[4]biscrowns with crown-2, crown-3, crown-4, crown-5, and crown-6 units were synthesized. Conformations of each product are dependent on the base used and their conformation stabilities. All conformations were proven by NMR spectra and/or X-ray crystal structures. The 1,3-alternate homodioxacalix[4]biscrown-4 (4b) shows the best selectivity for K+, whereas the 1,3-alternate homodioxacalix[4]crown-5 (5) does for Cs+. Those selectivities are attributable to electrostatic interaction between the metal ion and the crown ring, as well as a pi-metal complexation. However, the C-1,2-alternate conformation does not take the metal ions regardless of the crown species as a result of steric hindrance from the methylene bridge of an ArCH2Ar unit.  相似文献

A new fluorogenic, dansyl group-containing derivative of 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene-bis(crown-6-ether) provides optical recognition of Tl+ with selectivity over many other metal cations, including Na+, K+, Ca2+, Ag+, Hg2+ and Pb2+, and embodies the first example of a calixarene-based fluorescent Tl+-chemosensor.  相似文献

A new class of synthetic receptors for anions can be prepared by arranging urea hydrogen-bond donor groups on a simple metal-organic scaffold. The complex cation [PtL4]2+ (L = 8-(n-butylurea)iso-quinoline) can adopt four conformations reminiscent of calix[4]arene-based receptors; "cone", "partial cone", "1,2-alternate", or "1,3-alternate". 1H NMR solution data and solid-state X-ray structures show that a "1,2-alternate" conformation is used to bind spherical halide ions while a "cone" conformation is involved in strong binding with the tetrahedral oxy-anions such as the sulfate ion; even in a strongly competitive solvent such as DMSO.  相似文献

Di-ionizable calix[4]arene-1,3-crown-4 compounds locked in 1,3-alternate, cone, and partial-cone conformations are synthesized for evaluation in metal ion separations. The ionizable functions include carboxylic acid and N-(X)sulfonyl carboxamide groups in which the acidity is tuned by variation of the electron-withdrawing ability of X. Similar synthetic routes were employed for preparation of the cone and 1,3-alternate ligand series. A different preparative route utilizing protection and deprotection was required to obtain the partial-cone analogues. Ligand conformations were confirmed by their proton and/or carbon NMR spectra. X-ray diffraction verified an unusual 1,2-alternate conformation in the solid-state for one synthetic intermediate. Effects of ligand conformation and ionizable group variations on competitive solvent extractions of alkali and alkaline earth metal cations from aqueous solutions into chloroform were assessed. Single species solvent extractions of Hg2+ and Pb2+ were also performed.  相似文献
