OH radical number density in multiple atmospheric pressure microwave plasma jets is measured using UV cavity ringdown spectroscopy of the OH (A–X) (0–0) band at 308 nm. The plasma cavity was excited by a 2.45 GHz microwave plasma source and plasma jets of 2–12 mm long were generated by using three different plasma gases, argon (Ar), Ar/N2, and Ar/O2. Comparative characterization of the plasma jets in terms of plasma shape, stability, gas temperature, emission intensities of OH, NO, and N2, and absolute number density of the OH radical was carried out under different plasma gas flow rates and powers at various locations along the plasma jet axis. With three different operating gases, the presence of OH radicals in all of the plasma jets extended to the far downstream. As compared to the argon plasma jets, the plasma jets formed with Ar/N2 and Ar/O2 are more diffuse and less stable. Plasma gas temperatures along the jet axis were measured to be in the range of 470–800 K for all of the jets formed in the different gas mixtures. In each plasma jet, OH number density decreases along the jet axis from the highest OH density in the vicinity of the jet tip to the lowest in the far downstream. OH density ranges from 1.3 × 1012 to 1.1 × 1016, 4.1 × 1013 to 3.9 × 1015, and 7.0 × 1012 to 4.6 × 1016 molecule/cm3 in the Ar, Ar/N2, and Ar/O2 plasma jets, respectively. The OH density dependence on plasma power and gas flow rate in the three plasma jets is also investigated.  相似文献

Excitation of H+, H2 +, H3 +, He+, and Ar+ ions by impact on graphite and Al2O3 was investigated by means of emission spectroscopy in the 50–1000 eV energy range of the projectiles. Emission of Balmer series from excited neutral hydrogen is observed for both targets. In addition, for the Al2O3 target a continuum emission is observed. The continuum probably originates from excited MnOm molecules produced in the collision cascade, when surface atoms bound by ionic bonds are released after the bond breaking caused by neutralization. The spectra obtained under Ar+ -bombardment show Ar II lines emitted by backscattered ions.  相似文献

Quantitative spectral and microwave measurements of vibrational temperatures and electron densities were performed for 2400 MHz non-isothermic pulse excited discharges in flowing nitrogen and argon at pressures (60–2700) Pa. A detailed analysis of the N2 vibrational states population for the N2 C3Πu, X1Σg+ electronic states has been carried out. The basic difficulties encountered when comparing the spectroscopically determined values of vibrational temperatures with corresponding quantities of the ground electronics state are mentioned and the time resolved dependences of the translational gas temperature in N2 during the microwave pulse is evaluated. The steady state in the nitrogen pulse excited microwave plasma is reached within 3 · 10?4 s, but generally, this time depends on the gas pressure in the discharge tube. In the Ar + N2 mixtures the excitation conditions are complicated by the metastable argon atoms (3P2,0) creating the nonequilibrium populations of electronic, vibrational and rotational N2 states.  相似文献

The He-Ar-Cu+ IR laser operates in a hollow-cathode discharge, typically in a mixture of helium with a few-% Ar. The population inversion of the Cu+ ion levels, responsible for laser action, is attributed to asymmetric charge transfer between He+ ions and sputtered Cu atoms. The Ar gas is added to promote sputtering of the Cu cathode. In this paper, a hybrid modeling network consisting of several different models for the various plasma species present in a He-Ar-Cu hollow-cathode discharge is applied to investigate the effect of Ar concentration in the gas mixture on the discharge behavior, and to find the optimum He/Ar gas ratio for laser operation. It is found that the densities of electrons, Ar+ ions, Arm * metastable atoms, sputtered Cu atoms and Cu+ ions increase upon the addition of more Ar gas, whereas the densities of He+ ions, He2 + ions and Hem * metastable atoms drop considerably. The product of the calculated Cu atom and He+ ion densities, which determines the production rate of the upper laser levels, and hence probably also the laser output power, is found to reach a maximum around 1–5 % Ar addition. This calculation result is compared to experimental measurements, and reasonable agreement has been reached. This paper considers the electrical and optical characterization of glow discharge pulsed plasma in N2/H2 gas mixtures at a pressures range between 0.5 and 4.0 Torr and discharge current between 0.2 and 0.6 A. Electron temperature and ion density measurements were performed employing a double Langmuir probe. They were found to increase rapidly as the H2 percentage in the mixture was increased up to 20%. This increase slows down as the H2 percentage in the gas mixture was increased above 20% at the same pressure. Emission spectroscopy was employed to observe emission from the pulsed plasma of a steady-state electric discharge. The discharge mainly emits within the range 280–500 nm. The emission consists of N2 (C-X) 316, 336, 358 nm narrow peaks and a broad band with a maximum at λmax = 427 nm. Also lines of N2, N2 + and NH excited states were observed. All lines and bands have their maximum intensity at the discharge current of 0.417 A. The intensities of the main bands and spectral lines are determined as functions of the total pressure and discharge current. Agreement with other theoretical and experimental groups was established.  相似文献

Early afterglows of N2‐H2, Ar‐N2‐H2 and Ar‐N2‐O2 flowing microwave discharges are characterized by optical emission spectroscopy. The N and O atoms and the N2 (A) metastable molecule densities are determined by optical emission spectroscopy after calibration by NO titration for N and O‐atoms and measurements of NO and N2 band intensities. If an uncertainty of 30% is estimated on N‐atomic density, an inaccuracy of one order of magnitude is obtained on the O and N2 (A) densities. In N2‐(0.05‐2.5%)H2 and Ar‐(1‐50%)N2‐(0.05‐2.5%) H2 gas mixtures, the O‐atoms are coming from O2 impurities in the discharge. Concentrations of N and O‐atoms and of N2 (A) densities are compared to the ones obtained in Ar‐(5‐50%)N2‐(0.2‐2.5%) O2 gas mixtures in which a controlled amount of O2 is added. The spatial inhomogeneity of pulsed atmospheric pressure discharge in argon is investigated using the electron number density Ne diagnostics procedure applied to asymmetrically broadened Ar I lines. A dedicated fitting procedure is used for describing Ar I 703.0 nm line shape recorded from argon gas discharge and H I (at 486.13 and 656.28 nm) lines recorded from Ar-H2 gas mixture discharge. The results revealed the change in Ne in both axial and radial directions. The additional Ar I lines at 614.5, 710.7, 731.2, and 731.6 nm, recorded from integral spatial radiation, are analysed as well to confirm the results from the plasma column region. The possibility of using AlO (B2+–X2+) and CN (B2+–X2+) molecular bands for gas temperature Tg measurements in this type of gas discharge source is demonstrated and Tg used as an input parameter for the Ne diagnostics procedure. For the proper identification of molecular band spectral lines, the Fortrat parabolas are constructed. The results obtained from Ar I 703.0 nm line indicate three different Ne values, with Ne1 ≈ 0.6 × 1016 cm−3, Ne2 ≈ 3.6 × 1016 cm−3, and Ne3 ≈ 19 × 1016 cm−3 measured from the plasma column. These Ne values increase in the cathode and anode region.  相似文献

We report adiabatic potential energy curves of the Li2 + molecule. Our curves are tabulated according to internuclear distance from 2 a0 to 100 a0. We compare our theoretical results with the ones calculated by other authors and potential energy curves derived from experiments. For the ground state and 17 excited states we calculate spectroscopic parameters and compare them with parameters obtained by other authors. For the first time we present three new minima for 32Σu +, 42Σu + and 22Πg excited states. In our approach we use the configuration interaction method where only the valence electrons of Li atoms are treated explicitly. The core electrons are represented by pseudopotential. All calculations are performed by means of MOLPRO program package.  相似文献

A low-pressure DC plasma discharge sustained in a 1.6%Ar–2.7%N2–95.3%CO2 ternary mixture is studied. This plasma was generated in a total pressure range from 1.0 to 4.0 Torr, a power of 6.3 W and a 12 l/min flow rate of gases. The electron temperature was found to be 8.41 eV and the ion density, in the order of 109 cm−3. The species observed in the plasma mixture were CO2, CO2+, CN, CO, CO+, O2, O2+, N2, N2+, NO, C+, Ar and Ar+. At the pressure range in the present study, the species observed do not change their intensity due to an increase in the pressure and they separate in two groups according to their emission intensity: the band of the first group (CO2, CO2+ and CN) is approximately a factor of 3 more intense than that of the second group (CO, CO+, O2, O2+, N2, N2+, NO, C+, Ar and Ar+). The behavior of the emission intensities may be correlated to the constant ion density and electron temperature measured. Also, we observed the same constant behavior in the ratios of the neutral and positive species intensities to that of the N2 intensity, as a function of pressure. This may suggest that the different rate coefficients and cross sections of elastic collision, excitation and de-excitation of electronic or vibrational levels, inelastic and superelastic collisions of electrons with the gas phase and products, neutral–neutral interactions, resonant charged transfer processes, recombination, to mention some, to produce these species change in the same proportion, as a function of the pressure to keep the relative ratios of the species almost constant.  相似文献

Optical emission spectroscopy experiments are carried out by recording the radiation from the γ transitions of nitrogen monoxide in an air inductively coupled plasma in interaction with a water-cooled metallic flat plate at moderate pressure. The calibrated results allow to derive the vibrational and rotational temperatures of the NO(A 2 Σ +) excited state as well as its densities in the free jet and within the boundary layer by comparison with calculated spectra. Those results are compared with previous ones concerning temperatures and densities of the ground states of the majority species (N2, O2 and NO) that were obtained by laser techniques. As for the NO(X 2 Π) ground state, vibration and rotation of the excited state are found out of equilibrium. The NO(A 2 Σ +) excited state is found to be populated by an energy transfer from the metastable N2( A3\varSigma +uA^{3}\varSigma ^{+}_{u}). The steady state of the plasma allows using this property to derive N2( A3\varSigma +uA^{3}\varSigma ^{+}_{u}) densities and N2 electronic excitation temperatures. Close to the wall, a production of excited NO by a catalytic process is also considered involving N2( A3\varSigma +uA^{3}\varSigma ^{+}_{u}) as source of adsorbed atoms. The present results confirm that the kinetic temperature cannot be compared to the rotational temperature derived from optical emission spectroscopy in such plasma conditions.  相似文献

The green emission intensity of ZnGa2O4:Ge4+, Li+, Mn2+ excited by the vacuum ultraviolet line of 147 nm reaches 70% of commercial green Zn2SiO4:Mn2+. The vacuum ultraviolet excitation spectra consist of four peaks. In a plasma display test bed filled with Ar and Ne plasma discharged by a radio-frequency generator of 13.6 MHz, ZnGa2O4:Ge4+, Li+, Mn2+ and commercial Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ phosphor screens show a linear increase in luminance with increasing self bias voltages. Increasing gas pressures cause the luminance to increase. Also, on increasing the self bias voltages and the gas pressures, the current densities of ZnGa2O4:Ge4+, Li+, Mn2+ phosphor screens are increased; this is the same behavior as that of the commercial phosphor.  相似文献

During excitation of N2, NO and N2O molecules by fast neutral 11S helium atoms, highly excited molecular states are formed which yield, through predissociation, autoionizing nitrogen atoms. The energy of electrons released in autoionization was measured and the energy and plausible spectroscopic assignment of autoionizing levels was determined. The excited levels belong to Rydberg series converging to the N+(1D) series limit. Besides molecular states derived by correlation of the final atoms, highly excited molecular parent states are also discussed.  相似文献

Ionizing collisions of long lived excited particles with atoms and molecules are studied by a cross beam technique. For the first time reactions of atoms in high Rydberg states are included in the investigation. In this paper we report relative cross sections for the production of the ions RH+, RH 2 + , and H 2 + by collisions of excited rare gas atoms R* with H2. With HD as the target molecule the isotope effect for the production of RD+ and RH+ has been determined. In the case of argon and krypton, ions are produced only by the high Rydberg states, whereas in the case of helium and neon only the metastable states contribute to a measurable extent. The data indicate, that the reaction mechanism is different in principle for metastable and highly excited atoms. Simple models are proposed to explain the experimental results.  相似文献

The electronic and geometric structure of rare gas clusters doped with rare-gas atoms Rg = Xe, Kr or Ar is investigated with fluorescence excitation spectroscopy in the VUV spectral range. Several absorption bands are observed in the region of the first electronic excitations of the impurity atoms, which are related to the lowest spin-orbit split atomic 3P1 and 1P1 states. Due to influence of surrounding atoms of the cluster, the atomic lines are shifted to the blue and broadened (“electronical cage effect”). From the known interaction potentials and the measured spectral shifts the coordination of the impurity atom in ArN, KrN, NeN and HeN could be studied in great detail. In the interior of KrN and ArN the Xe atoms are located in substitutional sites with 12 nearest neighbours and internuclear distances comparable to that of the host matrix. In NeN and HeN the cluster atoms (18 and 22, respectively) arrange themselves around the Xe impurity with a bondlength comparable to that of the heteronuclear dimer. The results confirm that He clusters are liquid while Ne clusters are solid for N≥ 300. Smaller Ne clusters exhibit a liquid like behaviour. When doping is strong, small Rgm-clusters (Rg = Xe, Kr, Ar, m≤10 2) are formed in the interior sites of the host cluster made of Ne or He. Specific electronically excited states, assigned to interface excitons are observed. Their absorption bands appear and shift towards lower energy when the cluster size m increases, according to the Frenkel exciton model. The characteristic bulk excitons appear in the spectra, only when the cluster radius exceeds the penetration depth of the interface exciton, which can be considerably larger than that in free Rgm clusters. This effect is sensitive to electron affinities of the guest and the host cluster.  相似文献

Boron trifluoride (BF3) proportional counters are used as detectors for thermal neutrons. They are characterized by high neutron sensitivity and good gamma discriminating properties. Most practical BF3 counters are filled with pure boron trifluoride gas enriched up to 96% 10B. But BF3 is not an ideal proportional counter gas. Worsening of plateau characteristics is observed with increasing radius due to impurities in gas. To overcome this problem, counters are filled with BF3 with an admixture of a more suitable gas such as argon. The dilution of BF3 with argon causes a decrease in detection efficiency, but the pulse height spectrum shows sharper peaks and more stable plateau characteristics than counters filled with pure BF3. The present investigations are undertaken to study the pulse height distribution and other important factors in BF3+Ar filled signal counters for neutron beam applications. Tests are performed with detectors with cylindrical geometry filled with BF3 gas enriched in 10B to 90%, and high purity Ar in different proportions. By analysing pulse height spectra, a value of 6.1 ± 0.2 has been obtained for the branching ratio of the 10B(n,α) reaction.   相似文献

Results are presented from experimental studies of the radiation emitted from a plasma produced in vacuum after irradiating a polycrystalline target by 1.06-μm laser radiation with an intensity of (3–5)×108 W/cm2. Plasma radiation from regions located at distances of 1 and 7 mm from the target is analyzed. It is shown that the main contribution to the plasma radiation in the 220–600 nm spectral range is made by transitions from the excited states of single-charged Ag+ and S+ ions. The atomic component of plasma radiation is represented by intense spectral lines corresponding to transitions from the Rydberg states of Ag and Ga atoms, whereas no resonance lines of these atoms are observed.  相似文献

A spectroscopic study of ambient air plasma, initially at room temperature and pressures ranging from 32 to 101 kPa, produced by high-power transverse excitation atmospheric (TEA) CO2 laser (λ=9.621 and 10.591 μm; τ FWHM≈64 ns; power densities ranging from 0.29 to 6.31 GW cm−2) has been carried out in an attempt to clarify the processes involved in laser-induced breakdown (LIB) air plasma. The strong emission observed in the plasma region is mainly due to electronic relaxation of excited N, O and ionic fragments N+. The medium-weak emission is due to excited species O+, N2+, O2+, C, C+, C2+, H, Ar and molecular band systems of N 2+(_{2}^{+}( B 2\varSigma u+^{2}\varSigma _{\mathrm{u}}^{+} –X 2\varSigma g+)^{2}\varSigma _{\mathrm{g}}^{+}) , N2(C3 Π u–B3 Π g), N 2+(_{2}^{+}( D2 Π g–A2 Π u) and OH(A2 Σ +–X2 Π). Excitation temperatures of 23400±700 K and 26600±1400 K were estimated by means of N+ and O+ ionic lines, respectively. Electron number densities of the order of (0.5–2.4)×1017 cm−3 and (0.6–7.5)×1017 cm−3 were deduced from the Stark broadening of several ionic N+ and O+ lines, respectively. Estimates of vibrational and rotational temperatures of N 2+_{2}^{+} electronically excited species are reported. The characteristics of the spectral emission intensities from different species have been investigated as functions of the air pressure and laser irradiance. Optical breakdown threshold intensities in air at 10.591 μm have been measured.  相似文献

A plasma obtained in argon near the surface of ferroelectric BaTiO3 ceramics has been examined in this work. It was found that the population densities of the excited Ar II doublet levels are greater than those of the excited Ar II quartet levels. This fact is related to the specific conditions of argon atoms excitation in the electric field of the ferroelectric domains. There is a possibility of ionization with simultaneous excitation of the neutral argon atoms.  相似文献
