Positron lifetime spectra were re-measured for a series of synthetic zeolites using a large time window of observation. Magnetic quenching experiments were also performed for the zeolites, and it has been confirmed that both the 4 and the 3 components are due to o-Ps. The annihilation rate of the third component, 3, showed a good correlation with the size of the largest voids, which is similar to the correlation reported for other compounds. However the annihilation rate of the longest-lived component, 4, showed a poor correlation with the void size. The 3 component has thus been assigned to o-Ps in the regular voids of the zeolites, and the 4 component to that escaped to inter-particle open spaces.  相似文献

The object of the present paper is to study the MHD effects on the laminar flow of a viscous, incompressible and conducting fluid in an annulus with arbitrary time-varying pressure gradient and arbitrary initial velocity in presence of a radial magnetic field. The contact process is a model of spread of an infectious disease. Combining with the result of ref. 1, we prove that the critical exponents take on the mean-field values for sufficiently high dimensional nearest-neighbor models and for sufficiently spread-out models with d>4:() c as c and ()( c)–1 as c, where () and () are the spread probability and the susceptibility of the infection respectively, and c is the critical infection rate. Our results imply that the upper critical dimension for the contact process is at most 4.  相似文献

The uniform nearest particle system (UNPS) is studied, which is a continuoustime Markov process with state space . The rigorous upper bound (mf) = ( – 1)/ for the order parameter 2, is given by the correlation identity and the FKG inequality. Then an improvement of this bound (mf) is shown in a similar fashion; C( – 1)/|log( – 1) for >1. Recently, Mountford proved that the critical value c=1. Combining his result and our improved bound implies that if the critical exponent exists, it is strictly greater than the mean-field value 1 in the weak sense.  相似文献

Sum-frequency mixing (3=1+2) of UV laser radiation (1=266 nm and 213 nm) and tunable coherent infrared light (2=1.2–2.6 m) in lithium borate (LBO) generates radiation at short wavelengths (3=188–242 nm). The UV radiation at 1 is produced by the fourth and fifth harmonic of a pulsed Nd-YAG laser. The infrared light is generated with an optical parametric oscillator of beta barium borate. The phase-matching angle is measured as function of 3 and compared with calculated values. For UV laser radiation at shorter wavelengths (173 nm1213 nm) the calculations predict an extension of the tuning range of the sum-frequency generated at 3 to wavelengths as short as the LBO transmission cutoff at 160 nm.  相似文献

For real a correspondence is made between the Julia setB forz(z)2, in the hyperbolic case, and the set of-chains±(±(±..., with the aid of Cremer's theorem. It is shown how a number of features ofB can be understood in terms of-chains. The structure ofB is determined by certain equivalence classes of-chains, fixed by orders of visitation of certain real cycles; and the bifurcation history of a given cycle can be conveniently computed via the combinatorics of-chains. The functional equations obeyed by attractive cycles are investigated, and their relation to-chains is given. The first cascade of period-doubling bifurcations is described from the point of view of the associated Julia sets and-chains. Following Bondi static, spherically symmetric equilibrium configurations with a core and an envelope have been considered. It has been shown that for any configurations with nonnegative pressure and density and with a surface red-shiftz s 4.77 arbitrarily large central red-shiftsz c are possible in the limiting case of arbitrarily large radius. The effects of imposition of further constraints in the form of a real speed of sound not exceeding the speed of light are also examined. It is seen that for a given limiting sound-to-light-speed ratio . (i) There exists a limiting surface red-shiftz s() 1.71. (ii) A configuration withz s >z s() is not possible, (iii) A configuration withz s=z s() has a unique and finitez c=z c(). (iv) Forz s<z s() arbitrarily large central red-shifts can be obtained for configurations with arbitrarily large radii.  相似文献

Hydrogen molecules are excited by two 193 nm-photons [X1 g + E,F1 g + ;Q02(1)] generated with a commerical oscillator-amplifier ArF laser. Stimulated emission is subsequently observed in the IR (=752.4 nm to 836.6 nm;E, FB) and in the VUV (=134.0 nm to 160.9 nm;BX) with a VUV conversion efficiency of 0.2%. The rotational fine-structure, the saturation behaviour, pump depletion as well as SRS-onset on and off two-photon resonance are investigated.  相似文献

As in Part I of this paper, we consider the problem of the energy exchanges between two subsystems, of which one is a system of harmonic oscillators, while the other one is any dynamical system ofn degrees of freedom. Such a problem is of interest both for the realization of holonomic constraints of classical mechanics, and for the freezing of the internal degrees of freedom in molecular collisions. The results of Part I, which referred to the particular case =1, are here extended to the more difficult case >1. For the rate of energy transfer we find exponential estimates of Nekhoroshev's type, namely of the form exp (*/)1/a , where is a positive real number giving the size of the involved frequencies, and * anda are constants. For the particularly relevant constanta we find in generala=1/ however, in the particular case when the frequencies are equal (collision of identical molecules), we finda=1 independently of , as conjectured by Jeans in the year 1903.  相似文献

The measurements of diffuse reflectance spectra in the range of 400; 2500 nm and of photoacoustic spectra in the range of 350; 800 nm were used for the study of the influence of iron (III) oxide and lathanum oxide additions on the band structure of polycrystalline lead zirconate — lead titanate solid solutions. The molar ratio of zirconium and titanium in the studied solid solutions was 60 40, and the concentrations of the dopants werex FeO1.5, andy LaO1.5, werex 0; 0·05 mol, andy 0; 0·10 mol, respectively. The diffuse reflectance spectra were expressed in terms of the Kubelka-Munk function values versus incident electromagnetic radiation energy. These dependences were decomposed into partial absorption bands using a computer. Transitions of charged carriers between energy levels or bands which differ mutually by the energy of 0·9, 1·2–1·3, 1·6, 1·65–1·7, 2·4–2·5, 2·75–2·8, 2·9–3·2, 3·4–3·8 eV, were identified. Their intensities depend on the concentration of Fe and/or on La in the Pb(Zr0.60 Ti0.40) solid solutions.The authors are very grateful to Mrs. Iva Havlasová, Vra Andrsová, Ing. We study ergodic Jacobi matrices onl 2(Z), and prove a general theorem relating their a.c. spectrum to the spectra of periodic Jacobi matrices, that are obtained by cutting finite pieces from the ergodic potential and then repeating them. We apply this theorem to the almost Mathieu operator: (H , , u)(n)=u(n+1)+u(n–1)+ cos(2n+)u(n), and prove the existence of a.c. spectrum for sufficiently small , all irrational 's, and a.e. . We present a modified London model suggested by Brandt [1–3] which introduces a finite vortex core size appropriate for isotropic superconductors in which the average internal field is less than approximately (1/4)H c2. TheSR lineshape resulting from this model possesses a distinctive shape due to the magnetic penetration depth and the vortex core diameter (approximately equal to twice the coherence length ). However, for a given lineshape, there is a large range of values of and which produce nearly the same lineshape. Lineshape smearing caused by disorder in the vortex lattice increases uncertainty in values for and . If well-determined values of either (T) or (T) are not available from another technique, both of them can be determined bySR measurements alone if runs in more than one applied field at the same temperature are fit with and as shared parameters. We also present our method of estimating the degree of disorder in the vortex lattice.  相似文献

The contact process onZ has one phase transition; let c be the critical value at which the transition occurs. Let N be the extinction time of the contact process on {0,...,N}. Durrett and Liu (1988), Durrett and Schonmann (1988), and Durrett, Schonmann, and Tanaka (1989) have respectively proved that the subcritical, supercritical, and critical phases can be characterized using a large finite system (instead ofZ) in the following way. There are constants 1() and 2() such that if < c , lim N N /logN = 1/1(); if > c , lim N log N /N = 2(); if = c , lim N N /N= and lim N N /N 4=0 in probability. In this paper we consider the asymmetric contact process onZ when it has two distinct critical values c1< c2. The arguments of Durrett and Liu and of Durrett and Schonmann hold for < c1 and > c2. We show that for [ c1< c2), lim N N /N=-1/, (where i is an edge speed) and for = c2, lim N log N /logN=2 in probability.  相似文献

The classical non-linear Schrödinger equation associated with a symmetric Lie algebra =km is known to possess a class of conserved quantities which from a realization of the algebrak []. The construction is now extended to provide a realization of the Kac-Moody algebrak[, –1] (with central extension). One can then define auxiliary quantities to obtain the full algebra [, –1]. We consider the following problem as a model for the slow passage through a steady bifurcation: dy/dt = (t) y – y3 +, where is a slowly increasing function oft given by= i + t ( i,<0). Both and are small parameters. This problem is motivated by laser experiments as well as theoretical studies of laser problems. In addition, this equation is a typical amplitude equation for imperfect steady bifurcations with cubic nonlinearities. When=0, we have found that=0 is not the point where the bifurcation transition is observed. This transition appears at a value = j > 0. We call j the delay of the bifurcation transition. We study this delay as a function of i, the initial position of, and, the imperfection parameter. To this end, we propose an asymptotic study of this equation as 0, small but fixed. Our main objective is to describe this delay in terms of the relative magnitude of and. Since time-dependent imperfections are always present in experiments, we analyze in the second part of the paper the effect of a small-amplitude but time-periodic imperfection given by (t) = cos(t).  相似文献

We study the change of an quasienergy spectrum upon variation of the weight of a perturbation in the Floquet operatorF=F 0e–iV . Employing ideas from level dynamics and random matrix-theory we show that the distribution of nearest-neighbor spacings can display effectively irreversible behavior. A photometric and fluorimetric study of the acid-base behavior of 2,2-diquinolyl and 2,2,2-terpyridyl was performed. In sulfuric acid medium, the doubly charged 2,2-diquinolynium ion undergoes the first dissociation atH 0=0.20±0.09, as determined by fluorimetry (ex=336 nm, em=424 nm). Photometric titration is less accurate because of the overlapping of the absorption spectra. The second dissociation constant of 2,2-diquinolyl was determined by fluorimetric titration (ex=336 nm, em=420 nm), obtaining a value of 3.67±0.03. The triply charged 2,2,2-terpyridyl molecule was found to undergo the first dissociation atH 0=–7.17±0.04, as determined by fluorimetric titration (ex=316 nm, em=350 nm), in aqueous sulfuric acid medium. Photometric titration (=335 nm) was performed in the presence of 6.5% ethanol because of the low solubility of the compound in water. In this ethanolicwater medium, a value of the dissociation constant atH 0=–7.39±0.03 was calculated. The second dissociation constant was determined to be 2.81±0.12 by photometric titration at 285 nm, and values of 4.03±0.26 and 4.16±0.20 were found for the third dissociation constant by photometric titrations at 320 and 295 nm, in 10% ethanol, in close agreement with previously reported values. The fluorimetric titration profile obtained by exciting at 274 nm and measuring the fluorescence emission at 350 nm, in the zone betweenH 0=–3 and pH=10, is complicated by the several equilibria involved.  相似文献

The electrical resistivity (T) and the thermal conductivity (T) have been measured for UCu5 in the temperature range between 0.02 and 20 K. Two distinct anomalies in (T) are due to previously established phase transitions at approximately 15 and 1 K, respectively. They indicate considerable changes in the electronic structure of this compound, implying sizeable truncations of the Fermi surface with decreasing temperature at both transitions. In almost the entire covered temperature range the thermal conductivity is dominated by phonon contributions. Its temperature dependence is fairly well reproduced by a calculation considering phonon scattering by electrons and by point defects. At very low temperatures, asT approaches 0 K, the Wiedemann-Franz law e L 0 T, where e is the electronic part of (T) andL 0 is the Lorenz number, is almost perfectly fulfilled.  相似文献
