By an ABC-hit, we mean a triple (a,b,c) of relatively prime positive integers such that a+b=c and rad(abc)<c. Denote by N(X) the number of ABC-hits (a,b,c) with c?X. In this paper we discuss lower bounds for N(X). In particular we prove that for every ?>0 and X large enough N(X)?exp((logX)1/2−?).  相似文献

A Riemannian metric g with Ricci curvature r is called nontrivial quasi-Einstein, in a sense given by Case, Shu and Wei, if it satisfies (−a/f)∇df+r=λg, for a smooth nonconstant function f and constants λ and a>0. If a is a positive integer, it was noted by Besse that such a metric appears as the base metric for certain warped Einstein metrics. This equation also appears in the study of smooth metric measure spaces. We provide a local classification and an explicit construction of Kähler metrics conformal to nontrivial quasi-Einstein metrics, subject to the following conditions: local Kähler irreducibility, the conformal factor giving rise to a Killing potential, and the quasi-Einstein function f being a function of the Killing potential. Additionally, the classification holds in real dimension at least six. The metric, along with the Killing potential, form an SKR pair, a notion defined by Derdzinski and Maschler. It implies that the manifold is biholomorphic to an open set in the total space of a CP1 bundle whose base manifold admits a Kähler-Einstein metric. If the manifold is additionally compact, it is a total space of such a bundle or complex projective space. Additionally, a result of Case, Shu and Wei on the Kähler reducibility of nontrivial Kähler quasi-Einstein metrics is reproduced in dimension at least six in a more explicit form.  相似文献

As it is well-known, a Minkowski space is a finite dimensional real vector space equipped with a Minkowski functional F. By the help of its second order partial derivatives we can introduce a Riemannian metric on the vector space and the indicatrix hypersurface S:=F−1(1) can be investigated as a Riemannian submanifold in the usual sense. Our aim is to study affine vector fields on the vector space which are, at the same time, affine with respect to the Funk metric associated with the indicatrix hypersurface. We give an upper bound for the dimension of their (real) Lie algebra and it is proved that equality holds if and only if the Minkowski space is Euclidean. Criteria of the existence is also given in lower dimensional cases. Note that in case of a Euclidean vector space the Funk metric reduces to the standard Cayley-Klein metric perturbed with a nonzero 1-form.As an application of our results we present the general solution of Matsumoto's problem on conformal equivalent Berwald and locally Minkowski manifolds. The reasoning is based on the theory of harmonic vector fields on the tangent spaces as Riemannian manifolds or, in an equivalent way, as Minkowski spaces. Our main result states that the conformal equivalence between two Berwald manifolds must be trivial unless the manifolds are Riemannian.  相似文献

Let (M, g) be a Riemannian manifold and TM its tangent bundle. In [5] we have investigated the family of all Riemannian g-natural metrics G on TM (which depends on 6 arbitrary functions of the norm of a vector u TM). In this paper, we continue this study under some additional geometric properties, and then we restrict ourselves to the subfamily {G=a.gs + b.gh + c.gv, a, b and c are constants satisfying a > 0 and a(a + c) – b2 > 0}. It is known that the Sasaki metric gs is extremely rigid in the following sense: if (TM, gs) is a space of constant scalar curvature, then (M, g) is flat. Here we prove, among others, that every Riemannian g-natural metric from the subfamily above is as rigid as the Sasaki metric.  相似文献

We study the Gevrey solvability of a class of complex vector fields, defined on Ω?=(−?,?)×S1, given by L=∂/∂t+(a(x)+ib(x))∂/∂x, b?0, near the characteristic set Σ={0}×S1. We show that the interplay between the order of vanishing of the functions a and b at x=0 plays a role in the Gevrey solvability.  相似文献

We give a Riemannian structure to the set Σ of positive invertible unitized Hilbert-Schmidt operators, by means of the trace inner product. This metric makes of Σ a nonpositively curved, simply connected and metrically complete Hilbert manifold. The manifold Σ is a universal model for symmetric spaces of the noncompact type: any such space can be isometrically embedded into Σ. We give an intrinsic algebraic characterization of convex closed submanifolds M. We study the group of isometries of such submanifolds: we prove that GM, the Banach-Lie group generated by M, acts isometrically and transitively on M. Moreover, GM admits a polar decomposition relative to M, namely GM?M×K as Hilbert manifolds (here K is the isotropy of p=1 for the action ), and also GM/K?M so M is an homogeneous space. We obtain several decomposition theorems by means of geodesically convex submanifolds M. These decompositions are obtained via a nonlinear but analytic orthogonal projection , a map which is a contraction for the geodesic distance. As a byproduct, we prove the isomorphism NM?Σ (here NM stands for the normal bundle of a convex closed submanifold M). Writing down the factorizations for fixed ea, we obtain ea=exevex with exM and v orthogonal to M at p=1. As a corollary we obtain decompositions for the full group of invertible elements G?M×exp(T1MK.  相似文献

In this work we introduce the notion of a para-harmonic bundle, i.e. the generalization of a harmonic bundle [C.T. Simpson, Higgs-bundles and local systems, Inst. Hautes Etudes Sci. Publ. Math. 75 (1992) 5-95] to para-complex differential geometry. We show that para-harmonic bundles are solutions of the para-complex version of metric tt-bundles introduced in [L. Schäfer, tt-bundles in para-complex geometry, special para-Kähler manifolds and para-pluriharmonic maps, Differential Geom. Appl. 24 (1) (2006) 60-89]. Further we analyze the correspondence between metric para-tt-bundles of rank 2r over a para-complex manifold M and para-pluriharmonic maps from M into the pseudo-Riemannian symmetric space GL(r,R)/O(p,q), which was shown in [L. Schäfer, tt-bundles in para-complex geometry, special para-Kähler manifolds and para-pluriharmonic maps, Differential Geom. Appl. 24 (1) (2006) 60-89], in the case of a para-harmonic bundle. It is proven, that for para-harmonic bundles the associated para-pluriharmonic maps take values in the totally geodesic subspace GL(r,C)/Uπ(Cr) of GL(2r,R)/O(r,r). This defines a map Φ from para-harmonic bundles over M to para-pluriharmonic maps from M to GL(r,C)/Uπ(Cr). The image of Φ is also characterized in the paper.  相似文献

Let X and Y be topological spaces, let Z be a metric space, and let f:X×YZ be a mapping. It is shown that when Y has a countable base B, then under a rather general condition on the set-valued mappings Xxfx(B)∈Z2, BB, there is a residual set RX such that for every (a,b)∈R×Y, f is jointly continuous at (a,b) if (and only if) fa:YZ is continuous at b. Several new results are also established when the notion of continuity is replaced by that of quasicontinuity or by that of cliquishness. Our approach allows us to unify and improve various results from the literature.  相似文献

An automorphism of an undirected simple graph is called a shift if it maps every vertex to an adjacent one. For all finite groups G, we determine the minimum nonzero valency of a Cayley graph on G that does not admit a shift. We also get a classification of groups with all involutions central and such that for every pair a,b of elements of the group, one of ab=ba, aba−1=b−1, bab−1=a−1 or a2=b±2 holds.  相似文献

We prove that admissible functions for Fubini-Study metric on the complex projective space PmC of complex dimension m, invariant by a convenient automorphisms group, are lower bounded by a function going to minus infinity on the boundary of usual charts of PmC. A similar lower bound holds on some projective manifolds. This gives an optimal constant in a Hörmander type inequality on these manifolds, which allows us, using Tian's invariant, to establish the existence of Einstein-Kähler metrics on them.  相似文献

Recently Candel [A. Candel, Eigenvalue estimates for minimal surfaces in hyperbolic space, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 359 (2007) 3567-3575] proved that if M is a simply-connected stable minimal surface isometrically immersed in H3, then the first eigenvalue of M satisfies 1/4?λ(M)?4/3 and he asked whether the bound is sharp and gave an example such that the lower bound is attained. In this note, we prove that the upper bound can never be attained. Also we extend the result by proving that if M is compact stable minimal hypersurface isometrically immersed in Hn+1 where n?3 such that its smooth Yamabe invariant is negative, then (n−1)/4?λ(M)?n2(n−2)/(7n−6).  相似文献

Let ø(x) be a truncated normal pdf over the interval [a,b], that is, assume ø(x)=exp[-(x–μ)2/2σ2]/∝baexp[-(x–μ)2/2σ2]dx for - ∞<a?x?b?< + ∞ and zero elsewhere. Suppose that X1,X2,…,Xn is a random sample of size n from this truncated distribution. Using known properties of exponential families of distributions and the system of Legendre polynomials over the interval [-1,1], we examine the maximum likelihood estimation of the parameters μ and σ2.  相似文献

A metric space (X,d) has the Haver property if for each sequence ?1,?2,… of positive numbers there exist disjoint open collections V1,V2,… of open subsets of X, with diameters of members of Vi less than ?i and covering X, and the Menger property is a classical covering counterpart to σ-compactness. We show that, under Martin's Axiom MA, the metric square (X,d)×(X,d) of a separable metric space with the Haver property can fail this property, even if X2 is a Menger space, and that there is a separable normed linear Menger space M such that (M,d) has the Haver property for every translation invariant metric d generating the topology of M, but not for every metric generating the topology. These results answer some questions by L. Babinkostova [L. Babinkostova, When does the Haver property imply selective screenability? Topology Appl. 154 (2007) 1971-1979; L. Babinkostova, Selective screenability in topological groups, Topology Appl. 156 (1) (2008) 2-9].  相似文献

We construct a sphere fibration over a finite aspherical Poincaré complex X, which we call the tangential end fibration, under the condition that the universal cover of X is forward tame and simply connected at infinity. We show that it is tangent to X if the formal dimension of X is even or, when the formal dimension is odd, if the diagonal XX×X admits a Poincaré embedding structure.  相似文献

Let ? = 〈a, b|a[a, b] = [a, b]ab[a, b] = [a, b]b〉 be the discrete Heisenberg group, equipped with the left-invariant word metric d W (·, ·) associated to the generating set {a, b, a ?1, b ?1}. Letting B n = {x ∈ ?: d W (x, e ?) ? n} denote the corresponding closed ball of radius n ∈ ?, and writing c = [a, b] = aba ?1 b ?1, we prove that if (X, ‖ · ‖X) is a Banach space whose modulus of uniform convexity has power type q ∈ [2,∞), then there exists K ∈ (0, ∞) such that every f: ? → X satisfies $$\sum\limits_{k = 1}^{{n^2}} {\sum\limits_{x \in {B_n}} {\frac{{\left\| {f(x{c^k}) - f(x)} \right\|_X^q}}{{{k^{1 + q/2}}}}} } \leqslant K\sum\limits_{x \in {B_{21n}}} {(\left\| {f(xa) - f(x)} \right\|_X^q + \left\| {f(xb) - f(x)} \right\|_X^q)} $$ . It follows that for every n ∈ ? the bi-Lipschitz distortion of every f: B n X is at least a constant multiple of (log n)1/q , an asymptotically optimal estimate as n → ∞.  相似文献

By X(n), n?1, we denote the n-th symmetric hyperspace of a metric space X as the space of non-empty finite subsets of X with at most n elements endowed with the Hausdorff metric. In this paper we shall describe the n-th symmetric hyperspace S1(n) as a compactification of an open cone over ΣDn−2, here Dn−2 is the higher-dimensional dunce hat introduced by Andersen, Marjanovi? and Schori (1993) [2] if n is even, and Dn−2 has the homotopy type of Sn−2 if n is odd (see Andersen et al. (1993) [2]). Then we can determine the homotopy type of S1(n) and detect several topological properties of S1(n).  相似文献

We establish a boundary connected sum theorem for asymptotically hyperbolic Einstein metrics, and also show that if the two metrics have scalar positive conformal infinities, then the same is true for this boundary join. This construction is also extended to spaces with a finite number of interior conic singularities, and as a result we show that any 3-manifold which is a finite connected sum of quotients of S3 and S2×S1 bounds such a space (with conic singularities); putatively, any 3-manifold admitting a metric of positive scalar curvature is of this form.  相似文献

For a natural number m?0, a map from a compactum X to a metric space Y is an m-dimensional Lelek map if the union of all non-trivial continua contained in the fibers of f is of dimension ?m. In [M. Levin, Certain finite-dimensional maps and their application to hyperspaces, Israel J. Math. 105 (1998) 257-262], Levin proved that in the space C(X,I) of all maps of an n-dimensional compactum X to the unit interval I=[0,1], almost all maps are (n−1)-dimensional Lelek maps. Moreover, he showed that in the space C(X,Ik) of all maps of an n-dimensional compactum X to the k-dimensional cube Ik (k?1), almost all maps are (nk)-dimensional Lelek maps. In this paper, we generalize Levin's result. For any (separable) metric space Y, we define the piecewise embedding dimension ped(Y) of Y and we prove that in the space C(X,Y) of all maps of an n-dimensional compactum X to a complete metric ANR Y, almost all maps are (nk)-dimensional Lelek maps, where k=ped(Y). As a corollary, we prove that in the space C(X,Y) of all maps of an n-dimensional compactum X to a Peano curve Y, almost all maps are (n−1)-dimensional Lelek maps and in the space C(X,M) of all maps of an n-dimensional compactum X to a k-dimensional Menger manifold M, almost all maps are (nk)-dimensional Lelek maps. It is known that k-dimensional Lelek maps are k-dimensional maps for k?0.  相似文献

In this note we study the moduli space of minimal Legendrian submanifolds in the standard sphere S2n−1. We show that new examples of minimal Legendrian submanifolds can be constructed, if we can solve a certain equation for a function on a nearby glued Legendrian submanifold. As a step toward solving this equation, we prove short-time existence for a particular gradient flow on the space of immersed Legendrian submanifolds. A new necessary condition for a Lagrangian embedding into is given.  相似文献

For a smooth projective variety X of dimension n, on the product of Chow varieties Ca(XCna−1(X) parameterizing pairs (A,B) of an a-cycle A and an (na−1)-cycle B in X, Barry Mazur raised the problem of constructing a Cartier divisor supported on the locus of pairs with AB≠0?. We introduce a new approach to this problem, and new techniques supporting this approach.  相似文献
