It is proposed to employ a variable winding tension designed to give a required initial stress distribution. The program is constructed on the basis of solutions describing the loss of tension associated with winding and the softening of the resin during heat treatment. The problems are solved in the elastic formulation. Programs are obtained for three cases: constant tension in a ring sill on the mandrel, compensation of the stresses that develop after removal from the mandrel, and compensation of the thermoelastic stresses that develop during cooling.Institute of Polymer Mechanics, Academy of Sciences of the Latvian SSR, Riga. We consider the axial compression of a thin elastic cylinder placed about a hard cylindrical core. Treating the core as an obstacle, we prove upper and lower bounds on the minimum energy of the cylinder that depend on its relative thickness and the magnitude of axial compression. We focus exclusively on the setting where the radius of the core is greater than or equal to the natural radius of the cylinder. We consider two cases: the “large mandrel” case, where the radius of the core exceeds that of the cylinder, and the “neutral mandrel” case, where the radii of the core and cylinder are the same. In the large mandrel case, our upper and lower bounds match in their scaling with respect to thickness, compression, and the magnitude of pre‐strain induced by the core. We construct three types of axisymmetric wrinkling patterns whose energy scales as the minimum in different parameter regimes, corresponding to the presence of many wrinkles, few wrinkles, or no wrinkles at all. In the neutral mandrel case, our upper and lower bounds match in a certain regime in which the compression is small as compared to the thickness; in this regime, the minimum energy scales as that of the unbuckled configuration. In this study, modelling and identification of prestress state in functionally graded plate within the framework of the Timoshenko theory are discussed. With the help of variational principles, statements of boundary problems for stationary vibration of inhomogeneous prestressed plates have been derived taking into account various factors of prestress state. The comparative analysis of classical and nonclassical models has been conducted. The effect of the prestress state factors on the solution characteristics has been estimated. New approaches to solving the inverse problems on a reconstruction of inhomogeneous prestress functions in a functionally graded plate have been proposed on the basis of derivation of reciprocity relations and iterative regularization. The results of numerical reconstruction experiments are presented; practical recommendations on a selection of frequency range for the purpose of getting the highest reconstruction accuracy are given.  相似文献

A method is proposed for determining the residual stresses and strains in wound glass-reinforced plastic products. The fabrication process is divided into five stages: winding, heating polymerization, cooling, and removal from the mandrel. The initial stresses that develop during winding and the subsequent stress increment associated with heating are taken into account. Polymerization is treated as a process during which the mechanical and thermophysical properties of the material change. Chemical shrinkage of the resin and its filtration through the fiberglass are disregarded. Equations are derived for the residual radial and peripheral stresses in the finished product, for the residual change in inside diameter, and for the temperature at which the product is released from the mandrel during the cooling process. The experimental data relating to two types of wound products are discussed. The results of a computation of the residual stresses and the residual changes in inside diameter are compared with the experimental data.Moscow Power Engineering Institute. The dependence of the dynamic coefficient of friction of resin-impregnated glass tape on the sliding speed over the mandrel surface and the viscosity of the resin is derived. The formulas obtained are confirmed by the results of experiments which indicate a linear dependence of the coefficient of friction on the sliding speed of the tape over a metal mandrel. Graphically, this dependence is expressed by straight lines with a common origin and a slope that increases with the viscosity of the resin. The coefficient of friction of glass tape sliding over a prewound layer at low speeds also has a linear dependence. The aging of polyethylene under natural conditions as a function of level of prestress was investigated. The aging process was studied in terms of change in physicomechanical indicators, the optical density in terms of the 1720-cm?1 absorption band, and the temperature at which gas begins to evolve during thermal-oxidizing degradation of polyethylene. It is shown that variation in the strength properties of polyethylene during natural aging is associated with variation in the concentration of broken chemical bonds, and also that prestress in the region "prior to the formation of a neck in the specimen" accelerates, and in the region "after the formation of a neck" slows the process of atmospheric aging. A model that takes into account the effect of internal stress in polyethylene on its aging rate under natural conditions is proposed.  相似文献

The effect of prestressing the reinforcing fibers in either of two mutually perpendicular directions on the elastic characteristics of woven-glass reinforced plastics has been experimentally investigated. It is shown that an increase in the elastic characteristics in the prestress direction is accompanied by a decrease in the direction at right angles. Applying the same prestress in both directions considerably improves the moduli of elasticity (Ex, Ey). E. Sanchez‐Palencia We derive a linearized prestressed elastic shell model from a nonlinear Kirchhoff model of elastic plates. The model is given in terms of displacement and micro‐rotation of the cross‐sections. In addition to the standard membrane, transverse shear, and flexural terms, the model also contains a nonstandard prestress term. The prestress is of the same order as flexural effects; hence, the model is appropriate when flexural effects dominate over membrane ones. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the solutions by Lax–Milgram theorem and compare solution with the solution of the standard shell model via numerical examples. The pull-in instability and the vibration for a prestressed circular electrostatically actuated microplate are investigated in consideration of the Casimir force. Based on von Kármán’s nonlinear bending theory of thin plates, the governing equations for the whole analysis are decomposed into two two-point boundary value problems. For static deformation of the plate, the geometric nonlinearity is involved and the pull-in parameters are obtained by using the shooting method through taking the applied voltage or Casimir parameter as an unknown. This algorithm is also used to study the small amplitude free vibration about the predeformed bending configuration following an assumed harmonic time mode, and the variation of the prestress and Casimir parameters dependent fundamental natural frequency with the applied voltage is presented. Several case studies are compared with available published simulations to confirm the proposed method. The influences of various parameters, such as the initial gap-thickness ratio, Casimir effect, prestress on the pull-in instability behavior and the natural frequency are examined.  相似文献

The effect of the parameters of heat treatment and programmed winding under tension on the residual stresses in thin-walled coiled parts made from glass plastic by the "dry" winding of a heated glass strip on an unheated mandrel is studied experimentally. The flow of a non-Newtonian fluid in an annular extruder channel formed by two coaxial cylinders is investigated theoretically. Complex shear conditions are created by the pressure difference between the ends of the channel and the rotation of the cylinders in opposite directions at constant speeds. An expression is obtained for the rate of flow of a polymer melt regarded as a non-Newtonian fluid. The flow of a polyethylene melt at 140° C through an extruder head with a rotating mandrel has been experimentally investigated. The effect of curvature of the fibers on the modulus of elasticity of unidirectional glass-reinforced plastics (GRP) in tension has been investigated on the basis of the theory of layered reinforced media with random initial irregularities [1,2]. It is shown experimentally that relatively minor distortion of the fibers during manufacture may result in important changes in the modulus of elasticity. A model is proposed for determining the effect of fiber curvature on Young's modulus; experiments on specimens with a given regular fiber curvature indicate good agreement with the theory. The kinetics of the temperature residual stresses and strains in thick-walled reinforced-plastic cylinders and rings have been experimentally investigated employing a special procedure for continuously monitoring the internal strains and stresses in the various zones of the semifinished product during the heat treatment stage. The effect of the resin polymerization (polycondensation) temperature and the mandrel material on the magnitude and distribution of the temperature stresses is considered. Conclusion The proposed model of formation of the reinforcing framework in the manufacture of an axisymmetric shell by the CPW method makes it possible to numerically determine the thicknesses and rates of filling the layers, reinforcement angles as a function of the main parameters of the technological process, geometry of the mandrel, and characteristics of the reinforcing filament.
