Vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW) involves the routing of a set of vehicles with limited capacity from a central depot to a set of geographically dispersed customers with known demands and predefined time windows. The problem is solved by optimizing routes for the vehicles so as to meet all given constraints as well as to minimize the objectives of traveling distance and number of vehicles. This paper proposes a hybrid multiobjective evolutionary algorithm (HMOEA) that incorporates various heuristics for local exploitation in the evolutionary search and the concept of Pareto's optimality for solving multiobjective optimization in VRPTW. The proposed HMOEA is featured with specialized genetic operators and variable-length chromosome representation to accommodate the sequence-oriented optimization in VRPTW. Unlike existing VRPTW approaches that often aggregate multiple criteria and constraints into a compromise function, the proposed HMOEA optimizes all routing constraints and objectives simultaneously, which improves the routing solutions in many aspects, such as lower routing cost, wider scattering area and better convergence trace. The HMOEA is applied to solve the benchmark Solomon's 56 VRPTW 100-customer instances, which yields 20 routing solutions better than or competitive as compared to the best solutions published in literature.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel three-phase heuristic/algorithmic approach for the multi-depot routing problem with time windows and heterogeneous vehicles. It has been derived from embedding a heuristic-based clustering algorithm within a VRPTW optimization framework. To this purpose, a rigorous MILP mathematical model for the VRPTW problem is first introduced. Likewise other optimization approaches, the new formulation can efficiently solve case studies involving at most 25 nodes to optimality. To overcome this limitation, a preprocessing stage clustering nodes together is initially performed to yield a more compact cluster-based MILP problem formulation. In this way, a hierarchical hybrid procedure involving one heuristic and two algorithmic phases was developed. Phase I aims to identifying a set of cost-effective feasible clusters while Phase II assigns clusters to vehicles and sequences them on each tour by using the cluster-based MILP formulation. Ordering nodes within clusters and scheduling vehicle arrival times at customer locations for each tour through solving a small MILP model is finally performed at Phase III. Numerous benchmark problems featuring different sizes, clustered/random customer locations and time window distributions have been solved at acceptable CPU times.  相似文献

A central problem of branch-and-bound methods for global optimization is that often a lower bound do not match with the optimal value of the corresponding subproblem even if the diameter of the partition set shrinks to zero. This can lead to a large number of subdivisions preventing the method from terminating in reasonable time. For the all-quadratic optimization problem with convex constraints we present optimality cuts which cut off a given local minimizer from the feasible set. We propose a branch-and-bound algorithm using optimality cuts which is finite if all global minimizers fulfill a certain second order optimality condition. The optimality cuts are based on the formulation of a dual problem where additional redundant constraints are added. This technique is also used for constructing tight lower bounds. Moreover we present for the box-constrained and the standard quadratic programming problem dual bounds which have under certain conditions a zero duality gap.  相似文献

Most solution methods for the vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW) develop routes from the earliest feasible departure time. In practice, however, temporary traffic congestion make such solutions non-optimal with respect to minimizing the total duty time. Furthermore, the VRPTW does not account for driving hours regulations, which restrict the available travel time for truck drivers. To deal with these problems, we consider the vehicle departure time optimization (VDO) problem as a post-processing of a VRPTW. We propose an ILP formulation that minimizes the total duty time. The results of a case study indicate that duty time reductions of 15% can be achieved. Furthermore, computational experiments on VRPTW benchmarks indicate that ignoring traffic congestion or driving hours regulations leads to practically infeasible solutions. Therefore, new vehicle routing methods should be developed that account for these common restrictions. We propose an integrated approach based on classical insertion heuristics.  相似文献

This paper proposes a three-stage method for the vehicle-routing problem with time window constraints (VRPTW). Using the Hungarian method the optimal customer matching for an assignment approximation of the VRPTW, which is a travel time-based relaxation that partially respects the time windows, is obtained. The assignment matching is transformed into feasible routes of the VRPTW via a simple decoupling heuristic. The best of these routes, in terms of travelling and vehicle waiting times, form part of the final solution, which is completed by the routes provided by heuristic methods applied to the remainder of the customers. The proposed approach is tested on a set of standard literature problems, and improves the results of the heuristic methods with respect to total travel time. Furthermore, it provides useful insights into the effect of employing optimal travel time solutions resulting from the assignment relaxation to derive partial route sets of the VRPTW.  相似文献

This paper deals with the job-shop scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times. We propose a new method to solve the makespan minimization problem to optimality. The method is based on iterative solving via branch and bound decisional versions of the problem. At each node of the branch and bound tree, constraint propagation algorithms adapted to setup times are performed for domain filtering and feasibility check. Relaxations based on the traveling salesman problem with time windows are also solved to perform additional pruning. The traveling salesman problem is formulated as an elementary shortest path problem with resource constraints and solved through dynamic programming. This method allows to close previously unsolved benchmark instances of the literature and also provides new lower and upper bounds.  相似文献

A school bus scheduling problem   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper introduces a school bus scheduling problem wherein trips for each school are given. A trip consists of a sequence of bus stops and their designated school. Each school has its fixed time window within which trips should be completed. A school bus can serve multiple trips for multiple schools. The school bus scheduling problem seeks to optimize bus schedules to serve all the given trips considering the school time windows. We first model the problem as a vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW) by treating a trip as a virtual stop. Two assignment problem based exact approaches are then proposed for special cases and a heuristic algorithm is proposed for more general cases. Benchmark problems and computational experiments are presented. Computational experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.  相似文献

We propose a Lagrangian heuristic for facility location problems with concave cost functions and apply it to solve the plant location and technology acquisition problem. The problem is decomposed into a mixed integer subproblem and a set of trivial single-variable concave minimization subproblems. We are able to give a closed-form expression for the optimal Lagrangian multipliers such that the Lagrangian bound is obtained in a single iteration. Since the solution of the first subproblem is feasible to the original problem, a feasible solution and an upper bound are readily available. The Lagrangian heuristic can be embedded in a branch-and-bound scheme to close the optimality gap. Computational results show that the approach is capable of reaching high quality solutions efficiently. The proposed approach can be tailored to solve many concave-cost facility location problems.  相似文献

We analyze a business model for e-supermarkets to enable multi-product sourcing capacity through co-opetition (collaborative competition). The logistics aspect of our approach is to design and execute a network system where “premium” goods are acquired from vendors at multiple locations in the supply network and delivered to customers. Our specific goals are to: (i) investigate the role of premium product offerings in creating critical mass and profit; (ii) develop a model for the multiple-pickup single-delivery vehicle routing problem in the presence of multiple vendors; and (iii) propose a hybrid solution approach. To solve the problem introduced in this paper, we develop a hybrid metaheuristic approach that uses a Genetic Algorithm for vendor selection and allocation, and a modified savings algorithm for the capacitated VRP with multiple pickup, single delivery and time windows (CVRPMPDTW). The proposed Genetic Algorithm guides the search for optimal vendor pickup location decisions, and for each generated solution in the genetic population, a corresponding CVRPMPDTW is solved using the savings algorithm. We validate our solution approach against published VRPTW solutions and also test our algorithm with Solomon instances modified for CVRPMPDTW.  相似文献

In this paper we address the stochastic cyclic scheduling problem in synchronous assembly and production lines. Synchronous lines are widely used in the production and assembly of various goods such as automobiles or household appliances. We consider cycle time minimisation (or throughput rate maximisation) as the objective of the scheduling problem with the assumption that the processing times are independent random variables. We first discuss the two-station case and present a lower bounding scheme and an approximate solution procedure for the scheduling problem. For the general case of the problem, two heuristic solution procedures are presented. An extension of the two-station lower bound to the general case of the problem is also discussed. The performance of the proposed heuristics on randomly generated problems is documented, and the impact of scheduling decisions on problems with different levels of variability in processing times are analysed. We also analyse the problem of sequence determination when the available information is limited to the expected values of individual processing times.  相似文献

The wafer probing scheduling problem (WPSP) is a variation of the parallel-machine scheduling problem, which has many real-world applications, particularly, in the integrated circuit (IC) manufacturing industry. In the wafer probing factories, the jobs are clustered by their product types, which must be processed on groups of identical parallel machines and be completed before the due dates. Further, the job processing time depends on the product type, and the machine setup time is sequence dependent on the orders of jobs processed. Since the wafer probing scheduling problem involves constraints on job clusters, job-cluster dependent processing time, due dates, machine capacity, and sequence dependent setup time, it is more difficult to solve than the classical parallel-machine scheduling problem. In this paper, we formulate the WPSP as an integer programming problem. We also transform the WPSP into the vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW), a well-known network routing problem which has been investigated extensively. An illustrative example is given to demonstrate the proposed transformation. Based on the provided transformation, we present three efficient algorithms to solve the WPSP near-optimally.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the wafer probing scheduling problem (WPSP) to sequence families of jobs on identical parallel machines with due date restrictions. The machine set-up time is sequentially dependent on the product types of the jobs processed on the machine. The objective is to minimize the total machine workload without violating the machine capacity and job due date restrictions. The WPSP is a variation of the classical parallel-machine scheduling problem, that can be transformed into the vehicle-routing problem with time windows (VRPTW). One can therefore solve the WPSP efficiently using existing VRPTW algorithms. We apply four existing savings algorithms presented in the literature including sequential, parallel, generalized, and matching based savings, and develop three modifications called the modified sequential, the compound matching based, and the modified compound matching-based savings algorithms, to solve the WPSP. Based on the characteristics of the wafer probing process, a set of test problems is generated for testing purposes. Computational results show that the three proposed modified algorithms perform remarkably well.  相似文献

The Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (VRPTW) is a combinatorial optimization problem. It deals with route planning and the distribution of goods from a depot to geographically dispersed customers by a fleet of vehicles with constrained capacities. The customers’ demands are known and each customer has a time window in which it has to be supplied. The time windows are assumed to be soft, that means, violations of the time windows are allowed, but associated with penalties. The problem is to organize the vehicle routes optimally, i.e. to minimize the total costs, consisting of the number of used vehicles and the total distance, and the penalties simultaneously. Thus, the problem is formulated as a bicriterion minimization problem and heuristic methods are used to calculate approximations of the Pareto optimal solutions. Experimental results show that in certain cases the allowance of penalties leads to significant savings of the total costs.  相似文献

In this article we introduce the vehicle routing problem with coupled time windows (VRPCTW), which is an extension of the vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW), where additional coupling constraints on the time windows are imposed. VRPCTW is applied to model a real-world planning problem concerning the integrated optimization of school starting times and public bus services. A mixed-integer programming formulation for the VRPCTW within this context is given. It is solved using a new meta-heuristic that combines classical construction aspects with mixed-integer preprocessing techniques, and improving hit-and-run, a randomized search strategy from global optimization. Solutions for several randomly generated and real-world instances are presented.  相似文献

The simple assembly line balancing problem is a classical integer programming problem in operations research. A set of tasks, each one being an indivisible amount of work requiring a number of time units, must be assigned to workstations without exceeding the cycle time. We present a new lower bound, namely the LP relaxation of an integer programming formulation based on Dantzig–Wolfe decomposition. We propose a column generation algorithm to solve the formulation. Therefore, we develop a branch-and-bound algorithm to exactly solve the pricing problem. We assess the quality of the lower bound by comparing it with other lower bounds and the best-known solution of the various instances from the literature. Computational results show that the lower bound is equal to the best-known objective function value for the majority of the instances. Moreover, the new LP based lower bound is able to prove optimality for an open problem.  相似文献

In this study, we consider the multi-item economic lot-sizing problem with remanufacturing and uncapacitated production. By observing that the problem comprises several independent single-item problems, we show how very high quality feasible solutions and bounds can be obtained by solving each item separately using an effective recently proposed approach. Computational experiments demonstrate that our approach improves the best known feasible solutions and lower bounds for all the available instances. In addition, we show that 86 instances can be solved to optimality and the remaining open gap is below 0.5% for almost all the unsolved instances.  相似文献

This paper describes an exact algorithm for solving a problem where the same vehicle performs several routes to serve a set of customers with time windows. The motivation comes from the home delivery of perishable goods, where vehicle routes are short and must be combined to form a working day. A method based on an elementary shortest path algorithm with resource constraints is proposed to solve this problem. The method is divided into two phases: in the first phase, all non-dominated feasible routes are generated; in the second phase, some routes are selected and sequenced to form the vehicle workday. Computational results are reported on Euclidean problems derived from benchmark instances of the classical vehicle routing problem with time windows.  相似文献

We examine the problem of scheduling a given set of jobs on a single machine to minimize total early and tardy costs without considering machine idle time. We decompose the problem into two subproblems with a simpler structure. Then the lower bound of the problem is the sum of the lower bounds of two subproblems. A lower bound of each subproblem is obtained by Lagrangian relaxation. Rather than using the well-known subgradient optimization approach, we develop two efficient multiplier adjustment procedures with complexity O(nlog n) to solve two Lagrangian dual subproblems. A branch-and-bound algorithm based on the two efficient procedures is presented, and is used to solve problems with up to 50 jobs, hence doubling the size of problems that can be solved by existing branch-and-bound algorithms. We also propose a heuristic procedure based on the neighborhood search approach. The computational results for problems with up to 3 000 jobs show that the heuristic procedure performs much better than known heuristics for this problem in terms of both solution efficiency and quality. In addition, the results establish the effectiveness of the heuristic procedure in solving realistic problems to optimality or near optimality.  相似文献

This paper provides a review of the recent developments that had a major impact on the current state-of-the-art exact algorithms for the vehicle routing problem (VRP). The paper reviews mathematical formulations, relaxations and recent exact methods for two of the most important variants of the VRP: the capacitated VRP (CVRP) and the VRP with time windows (VRPTW). The paper also reports a comparison of the computational performances of the different exact algorithms for the CVRP and VRPTW.  相似文献
