A filter in a semigroup is a subsemigroup whose complement is an ideal. (Alternatively, in a quasiordered semigroup, a slightly more general definition can be given.) We prove a number of results related to filters in a semigroup and the lattice of filters of a semigroup. For instance, we prove that every complete algebraic lattice can be the lattice of filters of a semigroup. We prove that every finite semigroup is a homomorphic image of a finite semigroup whose lattice of filters is boolean and which belongs to the pseudovariety generated by the original semigroup. We describe filter lattices of some well-known semigroups such as full transformation semigroups of finite sets (which are three-element chains) and free semigroups (which are boolean).  相似文献

We prove that the class of the lattices embeddable into subsemigroup lattices of n-nilpotent semigroups is a finitely based variety for all n < ω. Repnitski? showed that each lattice embeds into the subsemigroup lattice of a commutative nilsemigroup of index 2. In this proof he used a result of Bredikhin and Schein which states that each lattice embeds into the suborder lattices of an appropriate order. We give a direct proof of the Repnitski? result not appealing to the Bredikhin-Schein theorem, so answering a question in a book by Shevrin and Ovsyannikov.  相似文献

We deal with a general streaming semigroup arising in transport theory. We show that in general such a semigroup has a direct decomposition into three simpler semigroups one of which extends to a group. A general spectral theory of them is given and is partly derived from that of a class of positive semigroups on Banach lattices.  相似文献

In this paper we describe the least fundamental adequate good congruence on an arbitrary typeW semigroupS as well as the largest superabundant full subsemigroup ofS and the largest full subsemigroup ofS which is a band of cancellative monoids. TypeW semigroups were introduced in [3] and a structure theorem for those semigroups was obtained. Here we introduce weak typeW semigroups by replacing the idempotent-connected property in typeW by one of its consequences. A structure theorem is obtained for such semigroups.  相似文献

We consider the automaticity of subsemigroups of free products of semigroups, proving that subsemigroups of free products, with all generators having length greater than one in the free product, are automatic. As a corollary, we show that if S is a free product of semigroups that are either finite or free, then any finitely generated subsemigroup of S is automatic. In particular, any finitely generated subsemigroup of a free product of finite or monogenic semigroups is automatic.  相似文献

We introduce the concept of presentation for subsemigroups of finitely generated commutative semigroups, which extends the concept of presentation for finitely generated commutative semigroups. We show that for every subsemigroup of a finitely generated commutative semigroup there are special presentations which solve the word problem in the given subsemigroup. Some properties like being cancellative, reduced and/or torsion free are studied under this new point of view. This paper was supported by the project DGES PB96-1424.  相似文献

A structure theorem for bisimple orthodox semigroups was given by Clifford [2]. In this paper we determine all homomorphisms of a certain type from one bisimple orthodox semigroup into another, and apply the results to give a structure theorem for any semilattice of bisimple orthodox semigroups with identity in which the set of identity elements forms a subsemigroup. A special case of these results is indicated for bisimple left unipotent semigroups.  相似文献

An associate inverse subsemigroup of a regular semigroup S is a subsemigroup T of S containing a least associate x* of each xS, in relation to the natural partial order ≤. In [1] the authors describe the structure of regular semigroups with an associate inverse subsemigroup, satisfying two natural conditions.
