The effect of partially filled poly ethylene (PE) foam core on the behavior of torsional buckling of an isotropic, simply supported piezoelectric polymeric cylindrical shell made from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), and subjected to combined electro-thermo-mechanical loads has been analyzed using energy method. The shell is reinforced by armchair double walled boron nitride nanotubes (DWBNNTs). The core is modeled as an elastic environment containing Winkler and Pasternak modules. Using representative volume element (RVE) based on micromechanical modeling, mechanical, electrical and thermal characteristics of the equivalent composite were determined. Critical buckling load is calculated using strains based on Donnell theory, the coupled electro-thermo-mechanical governing equations and principle of minimum potential energy. The results indicate that buckling strength increases substantially as harder foam cores are employed i.e. as Ec/Es is increased. The most economic in-fill foam core is at η = 0.6, as cost increases without much significant improvement in torsional buckling at higher η’s.  相似文献

Summary The problem considered here is that of a thin-walled circular cylindrical shell whose external surface is submitted to uniform fluid pressure. The condition under which bifurcation will occur in the shell beyond the elastic limit is examined and the true tangent modulus formula for the plastic buckling is established. Numerical results are presented for the critical pressure, covering both elastic and plastic ranges of buckling.
Zusammenfassung Einige Betrachtungen über das Verzweigungsproblem einer dünnen Kreiszylinderschale mit homogen verteiltem Aussendruck führen zu einem exakten Ausdruck für die kritische Last im elastisch-plastischen Bereich. Verschiedene numerische Resultate für die kritische Last im elastischen sowie im plastischen Bereich werden angegeben.

本文在轴对称变形的假设前题下,通过将扩展了的Marguerre’s方程化为差分方程,对其上作用荷载面积不同时的固支弹性薄扁球壳的屈曲问题作了一些探讨.由此发现,固支薄扁球壳在外界冲击荷载作用下,在λ(=2[3(1-v~2)]~(1/4)(H/h)~(1/2))的某一范围内发生了跳跃屈曲,并得到轴对称跳跃屈曲荷载随壳体上荷载作用面积的增大而提高的结论.  相似文献

The phenomenon of static collapse, henceforth called ‘buckling’, is first illustrated by the behavior of a fairly thick cylindrical shell, which under axial compression deforms at first axisymmetrically and later nonaxisymmetrically. Thus, static buckling encompasses two modes of behavior, nonlinear collapse at the maximum point in a load versus deflection curve and bifurcation buckling. Accurate prediction of critical loads corresponding to either mode in the plastic range of material behavior requires a simultaneous accounting for moderately large deflections and nonlinear, irreversible, path-dependent material. A survey is given of plastic buckling, which spans three areas: asymptotic analysis of postbifurcation behavior of perfect and imperfect simple structures, general nonlinear analysis of arbitrary structures, and nonlinear analysis for collapse at a maximum load and bifurcation buckling of shells of revolution. In the survey of general nonlinear structural analysis, some emphasis is given to strategies for solving the governing nonlinear equations incrementally. Numerous examples, generated primarily with the STAGS computer program, which was developed by Almroth and his colleagues, reveal many complex modes of buckling behavior.  相似文献
