A new quasi-Newton algorithm for the solution of general box constrained variational inequality problem (GVI(l, u, F, f)) is proposed in this paper. It is based on a reformulation of the variational inequality problem as a nonsmooth system of equations by using the median operator. Without smoothing approximation, the proposed quasi-Newton algorithm is directly applied to solve this class of nonsmooth equations. Under appropriate assumptions, it is proved that the algorithmic sequence globally and superlinearly converges to a solution of the equation reformulation and also of GVI(l, u, F, f). Numerical results show that our new algorithm works quite well.  相似文献

This paper is intended to study the vector variational inequalities on Hadamard manifolds. Generalized Minty and Stampacchia vector variational inequalities are introduced involving generalized subdifferential. Under strongly geodesic convexity, relations between solutions of these inequalities and a nonsmooth vector optimization problem are established. To illustrate the relationship between a solution of generalized weak Stampacchia vector variational inequality and weak efficiency of a nonsmooth vector optimization problem, a non-trivial example is presented.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper addresses a class of inequality constrained variational inequalities and nonsmooth unilateral variational problems. We present mixed formulations arising from Lagrange multipliers. First we treat in a reflexive Banach space setting the canonical case of a variational inequality that has as essential ingredients a bilinear form and a non-differentiable sublinear, hence convex functional and linear inequality constraints defined by a convex cone. We extend the famous Brezzi splitting theorem that originally covers saddle point problems with equality constraints, only, to these nonsmooth problems and obtain independent Lagrange multipliers in the subdifferential of the convex functional and in the ordering cone of the inequality constraints. For illustration of the theory we provide and investigate an example of a scalar nonsmooth boundary value problem that models frictional unilateral contact problems in linear elastostatics. Finally we discuss how this approach to mixed formulations can be further extended to variational problems with nonlinear operators and equilibrium problems, and moreover, to hemivariational inequalities.  相似文献

The set-valued variational inequality problem is very useful in economics theory and nonsmooth optimization. In this paper, we introduce some gap functions for set-valued variational inequality problems under suitable assumptions. By using these gap functions we derive global error bounds for the solution of the set-valued variational inequality problems. Our results not only generalize the previously known results for classical variational inequalities from single-valued case to set-valued, but also present a way to construct gap functions and derive global error bounds for set-valued variational inequality problems.  相似文献

Nonconvex and nonsmooth optimization problems arise in advanced engineering analysis and structural analysis applications. In fact the set of inequality and complementarity relations that describe the structural analysis problem are generated as optimality conditions by the quasidifferential potential energy optimization problem. Thus new kind of variational expressions arise for these problems, which generalize the classical variational equations of smooth mechanics, the variational inequalities of convex, nonsmooth mechanics and give a solid, computationally efficient explication of hemivariational inequalities of nonconvex, nonsmooth mechanics. Moreover quasidifferential calculus and optimization software make this approach applicable for a large number of problems. The connection of quasidifferential optimization and nonsmooth, nonconvex mechanics is discussed in this paper. A number of representative examples from elastostatic analysis applications are treated in details. Numerical examples illustrate the theory.  相似文献

We consider a nonlinear elliptic problem driven by the partial p-Laplacian and with a nonsmooth potential (hemivariational inequality). Using variational techniques based on nonsmooth analysis and degree theoretic arguments for operators of the monotone type, we establish the existence of at least three distinct nontrivial smooth solutions.  相似文献

We consider a semilinear eigenvalue problem with a nonsmooth potential (hemivariational inequality). Using a nonsmooth analog of the local Ambrosetti–Rabinowitz condition (AR-condition), we show that the problem has a nontrivial smooth solution. In the scalar case, we show that we can relax the local AR-condition. Finally, for the resonant λ?=?λ 1 problem, using the nonsmooth version of the local linking theorem, we show that the problem has at least two nontrivial solutions. Our approach is variational, using minimax methods from the nonsmooth critical point theory.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the weak sharp solutions for nonsmooth variational inequalities and give a characterization in terms of error bound. Some characterizations of solution set of nonsmooth variational inequalities are presented. Under certain conditions, we prove that the sequence generated by an algorithm for finding a solution of nonsmooth variational inequalities terminates after a finite number of iterates provided that the solutions set of a nonsmooth variational inequality is weakly sharp. We also study the finite termination property of the gradient projection method for solving nonsmooth variational inequalities under weak sharpness of the solution set.  相似文献

We prove the existence of two bifurcation branches for a variational inequality in a case when the corresponding asymptotic problem is nonsymmetric. We use a nonsmooth variational framework and a blow-up argument which allows to find multiple critical points possibly at the same level. An application to plates with obstacle is presented.  相似文献

Inexact implicit methods for monotone general variational inequalities   总被引:32,自引:0,他引:32
Solving a variational inequality problem is equivalent to finding a solution of a system of nonsmooth equations. Recently, we proposed an implicit method, which solves monotone variational inequality problem via solving a series of systems of nonlinear smooth (whenever the operator is smooth) equations. It can exploit the facilities of the classical Newton–like methods for smooth equations. In this paper, we extend the method to solve a class of general variational inequality problems Moreover, we improve the implicit method to allow inexact solutions of the systems of nonlinear equations at each iteration. The method is shown to preserve the same convergence properties as the original implicit method. Received July 31, 1995 / Revised version received January 15, 1999? Solving a variational inequality problem can be equivalently reformulated into solving a unconstraint optimization problem where the corresponding objective function is called a merit function. An important class of merit function is the generalized D-gap function introduced in [N. Yamashita, K. Taji, M. Fukushima, Unconstrained optimization reformulations of variational inequality problems, J. Optim. Theory Appl. 92 (1997) 439-456] and Yamashita and Fukushima (1997) [17]. In this paper, we present new fractional local/global error bound results for the generalized D-gap functions of nonsmooth variational inequality problems, which gives an effective estimate on the distance between a specific point to the solution set, in terms of the corresponding function value of the generalized D-gap function. Numerical examples and a simple application to the free boundary problem are also presented to illustrate the significance of our error bound results.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a generalized variational inequality problem which involves the integrable cost mapping and a nonsmooth mapping with convex components. We propose a new gradient-type method which determines a stepsize by using the smooth part of the cost function. Thus, the method does not utilize analogs of derivatives of nonsmooth functions. We show that its convergence does not require additional assumptions.  相似文献

We propose an iterative algorithm for solving a semicoercive nonsmooth variational inequality. The algorithm is based on the stepwise partial smoothing of the minimized functional and an iterative proximal regularization method. We obtain a solution to the variational Mosolov and Myasnikov problem with boundary friction as a limit point of a sequence of solutions to stable auxiliary problems.  相似文献

We consider nonsmooth solutions of the system of Euler-Lagrange equations corresponding to a variational problem with several unknown functions of several variables and with a quadratic functional. The propagation of weak discontinuities is described by the equations of the method of singular characteristics developed by Melikyan. The onset and interaction of weak discontinuities of the solution caused by nonsmooth initial conditions are studied by numerical-analytic methods. We develop two computer programs for shock-fitting and shock-capturing computations. The approach was earlier applied by the authors to the analysis of a variational wave equation, namely, to the solution of the Euler-Lagrange equation for a variational problem with a single unknown function.  相似文献

This paper concerns with the study of a differential variational–hemivariational inequality (DVHVI, for short) in infinite-dimensional Banach spaces. We first introduce the new concept of gap functions for the variational control system of (DVHVI). Then, we consider two kinds of gap functions which are regularized gap function and Moreau–Yosida regularized gap function, respectively, and examine the relevant properties of the gap functions. Moreover, two global error bounds which depend implicitly on the regularized gap function and the Moreau–Yosida regularized gap function, accordingly, are obtained. Finally, in order to illustrate the applicability of the theoretical results, we investigate a coupled dynamic system which is formulated by a nonlinear reaction–diffusion equation described by a time-dependent nonsmooth semipermeability problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we couple regularization techniques of nondifferentiable optimization with the h‐version of the boundary element method (h‐BEM) to solve nonsmooth variational problems arising in contact mechanics. As a model example, we consider the delamination problem. The variational formulation of this problem leads to a hemivariational inequality with a nonsmooth functional defined on the contact boundary. This problem is first regularized and then discretized by an h‐BEM. We prove convergence of the h‐BEM Galerkin solution of the regularized problem in the energy norm, provide an a priori error estimate and give a numerical examples. In this work, we present a novel power penalty method for the approximation of a global solution to a double obstacle complementarity problem involving a semilinear parabolic differential operator and a bounded feasible solution set. We first rewrite the double obstacle complementarity problem as a double obstacle variational inequality problem. Then, we construct a semilinear parabolic partial differential equation (penalized equation) for approximating the variational inequality problem. We prove that the solution to the penalized equation converges to that of the variational inequality problem and obtain a convergence rate that is corresponding to the power used in the formulation of the penalized equation. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the theoretical findings.  相似文献

Necessary and sufficient conditions are established for properly efficient solutions of a class of nonsmooth nonconvex variational problems with multiple fractional objective functions and nonlinear inequality constraints. Based on these proper efficiency criteria. two multiobjective dual problems are constructed and appropriate duality theorems are proved. These proper efficiency and duality results also contain as special cases similar rcsults fer constrained variational problems with multiplei fractional. and conventional objective functions, which are particular cases of the main variational problem considered in this paper  相似文献

In this paper, we give some sufficient conditions for the local uniqueness of solutions to nonsmooth variational inequalities where the underlying functions are H-differentiable and the underlying set is a closed convex set/polyhedral set/box/polyhedral cone. We show how the solution of a linearized variational inequality is related to the solution of the variational inequality. These results extend/unify various similar results proved for C 1 and locally Lipschitzian variational inequality problems. When specialized to the nonlinear complementarity problem, our results extend/unify those of C 2 and C 1 nonlinear complementarity problems.  相似文献
