Solution enthalpies of adamantan-1-ol, 2-methyl- butan-2-ol, and 3-methylbutan-1-ol have been measured at 298.15 K, in a set of 16 protogenic and non-protogenic solvents. The identification and quantification of solvent effects on the solution processes under study were performed using quantitative-structure property relationships. The results are discussed in terms of solute–solvent–solvent interactions and also in terms of the influence of compound’s size and position of its hydroxyl group.  相似文献

Molecular-dynamics simulations are presented for the diffusion-controlled bimolecular reaction A+B<==>C in two and three dimensions. The reactants and solvent molecules are modeled as spheres interacting via continuous potential-energy functions. The interaction potential between two reactants contains a deep well that results in a reaction. When the solvent concentration is low and the reactant dynamics is essentially ballistic, the system reaches equilibrium rapidly, and the reaction follows classical kinetics with exponential decay to the equilibrium. When the solvent concentration is high the particles enter the normal diffusion regime quickly and nonclassical behavior is observed, i.e., the reactant concentrations approach equilibrium as t(-d/2) where d is the dimensionality of space. When the reaction well depth is large, however, the reaction becomes irreversible within the simulation time. In this case the reactant concentrations decay as t(-d/4). Interestingly this behavior is also observed at intermediate times for reversible reactions.  相似文献

Uniform, spherical CuCl particles were obtained by mixing aqueous solutions of CuCl 2 and ascorbic acid in the presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as dispersing agent. The size and the uniformity of the resulting particles depended on the volume ratio of the reactant solutions, their concentrations, the distribution of the stabilizers, and the mixing method. The single jet precipitation yielded large spheres of broad size distributions, while the particles obtained by the double jet technique were rather uniform in size. The final colloidal CuCl particles were formed by the aggregation of nanocrystals, initially generated in the system. Depending on the pH of the reaction mixture, these particles slowly change to large CuCl crystals on aging in the mother liquor.  相似文献

Much progress has been made in modeling the reaction of Brownian particles with spherical traps. Previously, work has focused on the effective reaction rate of systems of particles that diffuse freely until they are trapped by spheres in the dispersion. A particularly effective and efficient method to describe the reacting system is based on first-passage time distributions, from which an effective reaction rate coefficient of the suspension can be determined. The analysis presented here addresses reaction and diffusion in systems in which particles can undergo reaction in the continuous phase as well as reaction at the sphere surface. The first-passage method is extended to allow reaction or decay of the diffusing species in the continuous phase. The diffusion path is divided into a series of first-passage regions and is considered the probability of the particle being consumed in each of these regions. This allows the determination of the total reaction rate of the suspension (continuous phase reaction plus trapping) and the relative consumption rate in each phase. The extended method is applied to a model system of concentric spheres with a known continuum solution. It is shown to be accurate for consumption of reactant in the continuous phase from approximately 0 to approximately 100%. The method then is applied to a suspension of spheres.  相似文献

A microemulsion electrokinetic chromatographic (MEEKC) method was developed for the separation of six catechins, specific marker phytochemicals of Cistus species. The MEEKC method involved the use of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as surfactant, heptane as organic solvent and butan-1-ol as co-solvent. In order to have a better stability of the studied catechins, the separation was performed under acidic conditions (pH 2.5 phosphate buffer). The effects of SDS concentration and of the amount of organic solvent and co-solvent on the analyte resolution were evaluated. The optimized conditions (heptane 1.36% (w/v), SDS 2.31% (w/v), butan-1-ol 9.72% (w/v) and 50 mM sodium phosphate buffer (pH 2.5) 86.61% (w/v)) allowed a useful and reproducible separation of the studied analytes to be achieved. These conditions provided a different separation profile compared to that obtained under conventional micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MECK) using SDS. The method was validated and applied to the determination of catechin and gallocatechin in lyophilized extracts of Cistus incanus and Cistus monspeliensis.  相似文献

Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) particles in the micron size range were obtained by the dispersion polymerization. Cellulose acetate butyrate and dibenzoyl peroxide were used as steric stabilizer and initiator, respectively. The ultimate particle size could be adjusted by the selection of a suitable polymerization medium consisting of an alcohol added to toluene and by varying their relative amounts. The particle size increased with increasing solubility parameter of the mixture, i.e., by decreasing the toluene/2-methylpropan-1-ol, toluene/butan-2-ol, and toluene/3-methylbutan-1-ol ratio. The particle size decreased with increasing concentration of the stabilizer and/or initiator. At the same time, the particle size distribution became narrower. Particles prepared from polymerization mixtures purged with nitrogen before the start of polymerization were smaller, and of narrower distribution, than those prepared from nitrogen-non-purged mixtures. Equilibrium swelling of particles in toluene decreased with the decreasing content of toluene in the polymerization mixture. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The synthesis of ORganically MOdified SILica (ORMOSIL) particles has been carried out using both the hydrolytic and non-hydrolytic sol-gel routes. The hybrid (nano)composites are organically modified with an alkyl or aryl group covalently bonded to silicon. Hybrids have been synthesised in an aqueous sol-gel process by a modified Stöber route, producing spherical nanoparticles with diameters in the range 50–300 nm. The size of the particles can be controlled by control of certain reaction parameters. Smaller ormosil nanoparticles can be synthesised by a base-catalysed emulsion polymerisation route, by varying the type and concentration of surfactant and precursor feed rate. In this case, particles in the size range 3.5–10 nm can be obtained. Hybrids have been synthesised from hyperbranched polyesters by encapsulation in a silica matrix using the hydrolytic sol-gel route. Optimisation of the reaction conditions allows the hybrids to be produced as isolated sub-micron spherical particles. Ormosil particles have also been synthesised using the non-hydrolytic sol-gel route, which may lead to products of different morphologies because of the different polarity of the reaction medium. Different reaction conditions were studied in order to optimise the size and shape of the particles, including choice of solvent, use of surfactants and addition of polystyrene. Dimethylsulfoxide acts as a novel oxygen donor for the catalyst-free formation of colourless silsesquioxanes.  相似文献

Accurate second-order rate constants were measured at 5 K intervals in the temperature range 298.15-328.15 K for the quaternisation reaction of triethylphosphine with iodoethane in methanol, ethanol, propan-1-ol and butan-1-ol. These data are complemented previously reported rate constants for the quaternisation reaction of triethylamine with iodoethane in the same solvents and at similar temperatures. Each of these two reaction series is analysed in terms of the isokinetic relationship (IKR) with respect to solvent variation and of the isosolvent relationship (ISoR) with respect to temperature variation, using in the latter case five different empirical solvent scales. Statistically validated IKR and ISoR have been found for both reaction series. The resulting isokinetic temperatures of 347 K (phosphine series) and of 730 K (amine series) are discussed in terms of Linert's theory of the isokinetic relationship. The best ISoR correlation is obtained using the Dimroth-Reichardt E(T)(N) solvent scale for the phosphine series and the Kamlet-Taft alpha(KT) solvent scale for the amine series. It is demonstrated that no real solvent can be envisaged as having the characteristics of an isokinetic solvent. The selectivity of the nucleophiles triethylphosphine and triethylamine in the attack on iodoethane is examined by treating together both reaction series in terms of the isoselective relationship (ISeR). The isoselective temperature with respect to solvent is found to be 289 K, which is close to the value of 302 K predicted by Exner and Giese's formula on the basis of the individual isokinetic temperatures. A novel ISeR analysis with respect to temperature is performed. It reveals that the alpha(KT) scale is the most appropriate solvent scale for describing this selectivity series, and that it is feasible to find an isoselective solvent. A new equation is developed for predicting the isoselective solvent parameter from individual isosolvent parameters and is shown to yield realistic values. The present similarity analysis shows that there are significant differences between the courses of these quaternisation reactions. On the basis of the experimentally determined isoparameter values, in liquid alcohols as solvent it is proposed that the reaction between triethylphosphine and iodoethane follows a classic bimolecular nucleophilic substitution pathway, whereas the desolvation of triethylamine molecules has to be taken into account to describe the mechanism of the original Menshutkin reaction.  相似文献

Dynamic light scattering and viscometry measurements have been carried out on three AB diblock copolymers in water/propan-2-ol mixtures. The A moieties in each case were poly(2-vinylpyridine-1-oxide) for which both water and propan-2-ol are good solvents. The B Moieties were either polystyrene or polydimethylsiloxane, for which both water and propan-2-ol are poor solvents, but water is the worse solvent. In all cases, the hydrodynamic size of the micelles (assumed spherical) was found to increase with increasing water content in the solvent mixture; the aggregation number was also found to increase. The former finding is in agreement with the theoretical predictions of Munch and Gast, but not the latter.  相似文献

The liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE), or solid–liquid equilibrium (SLE) of more than 20 binary systems containing 1-hexyloxymethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)-imide [C6H13OCH2MIM][Tf2N] with alcohol (butan-1-ol, or hexan-1-ol, or octan-1-ol), water and ketone (3-pentanone, or cyclopentanone) and of 1-hexyloxymethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate [C6H13OCH2MIM][BF4] with alcohol (methanol, or ethanol, or butan-1-ol, or hexan-1-ol, or octan-1-ol), water and ketone (3-pentanone, or cyclopentanone) have been measured. The solubility of dialkoxy-imidazolium salts: (1) 1,3-dihexyloxymethyl-imidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)-imide [(C6H13OCH2)2IM][Tf2N] in alcohol (butan-1-ol, or hexan-1-ol, or octan-1-ol, or decan-1-ol), in water and hydrocarbon (benzene, hexane and cyclohexane); (2) 1,3-dihexyloxymethyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate [(C6H13OCH2)2IM][BF4] in alcohol (hexan-1-ol, or octan-1-ol, or decan-1-ol) and water have been measured. Measurements were carried out by using a dynamic method from T = 275 K to the boiling point of the solvent. In this work a systematic study of the impact of different factors on the phase behaviour of hexyloxy-imidazolium-based ionic liquids with polar and nonpolar solvents has been presented. Most of the examined systems showed immiscibility in the liquid phase with an upper critical solution temperature (UCST), or complete solubility of the ionic liquid at room temperature in many solvents. An increase in the alkyl chain length of alcohol resulted in an increase in the UCST. The choice of anion was shown to have large impact on the solubility: by changing the anion [Tf2N] to [BF4], the solubility dramatically decreased and the UCST increased. By contrast, increasing hydrogen bonding opportunities with the solvent by replacing a methyl group with the second alkoxy-group on the imidazolium ring results in an increase of the solubility.  相似文献

The development of a general method to fabricate spherical semiconductor and metal particles advances their promising electrical, optical, magnetic, plasmonic, thermoelectric, and optoelectric applications. Herein, by using CuO as an example, we systematically demonstrate a general bottom-up laser processing technique for the synthesis of submicrometer semiconductor and metal colloidal spheres, in which the unique selective pulsed heating assures the formation of spherical particles. Importantly, we can easily control the size and phase of resultant colloidal spheres by simply tuning the input laser fluence. The heating-melting-fusion mechanism is proposed to be responsible for the size evolution of the spherical particles. We have systematically investigated the influence of experimental parameters, including laser fluence, laser wavelength, laser irradiation time, dispersing liquid, and starting material concentration on the formation of colloidal spheres. We believe that this facile laser irradiation approach represents a major step not only for the fabrication of colloidal spheres but also in the practical application of laser processing for micro- and nanomaterial synthesis.  相似文献

The pulsed CO2 laser-induced decompositions of propan-2-ol, butan-2-ol, pentan-2-ol, pentan-3-ol, and hexan-2-ol in the gas phase have been investigated. Like ethanol which we examined previously [1] the absorption cross section of propan-2-ol for pulsed 9R14 radiation increases with pressure at low pressures, an effect attributed to rotational hole-filling. In contrast the absorption cross section of butan-2-ol (10R24) has only a small pressure dependence and those of pentan-2-ol (9R26), pentan-3-ol (10R14), and hexan-2-ol (9P20) show little or no variation with pressure in the range 0.1–5.0 torr. Decomposition products have been investigated at low pressure where the excitation of the alkanols was essentially collision free. The observed products for all the alkanols can be rationalized on the basis of primary dehydration and C? C fission channels, with minor contributions from other molecular eliminations. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Excess enthalpies (H E ) for mixtures of cyclohexanone with propan-1-ol. propan-2-ol, butan-1-ol, butan-2-ol and 2-methyl propan-1-ol at 298.15 K have been measured over the entire composition range. All mixed endothermically with the maximum values ofH E occurring at equimole fraction. Comments about the molecular interactions contributing to the excess enthalpies of a cyclic ketone + an alcohol are made on the basis of these results.  相似文献

The kinetics of the oxidation of a series of alcohols (viz., ethanol, propan-2-ol, butan-1-ol, butan-2-ol, heptan-4-ol, decan-2-ol, propan-1,3-diol, butan-2,3-diol, cyclohexanol, benzyl alcohol, and borneol) with the oxoammonium salt 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl chlorite in acetonitrile was studied by spectrophotometry. The products of oxidation of primary alcohols are the corresponding aldehydes and carboxylic acids, and the products of oxidation of secondary alcohols are ketones. The reaction rate is described by the second order equation. The rate constants and activation parameters were determined. The rate constant as a function of the alcohol nature is described by the one-parameter Taft equation.  相似文献

In this paper, particles of calcium tungstate as a model compound were prepared by a reverse micelle??s method. The morphology of particles was tuned from rod to spindle-like and spherical by altering the temperature and concentration of reactants. A volume per single particle and a total number of particles were calculated to explain quantitatively the mechanism of influence of reaction conditions on the process. It was found that the reactant concentration had no effect on the number of particles. With increasing temperature or reaction time, the number of particles decreased, whereas the particle volume increased. The bulk water in the micelles seemed actually affect the size of particles.  相似文献

This paper is focused on modeling of sorption and desorption kinetics as well as on equilibrium butan-1-ol vapor sorption in blended poly(dimethylsiloxane)-benzyl-3-butylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate membranes. Based on the generalized Fick’s second law, on time-dependent boundary conditions and on two models of equilibrium sorption, the diffusion coefficients of butan-1-ol were calculated from the experimental data using the finite difference modeling. Although anomalous sorption occurred at higher concentrations of butan-1-ol, the diffusion coefficients calculated from the data on sorption and desorption kinetics were in a good agreement. The increase of the ionic liquid content in poly(dimethylsiloxane) elevated the butan-1-ol equilibrium concentration in the membrane, and, at the same time, decreased the values of butan-1-ol diffusion coefficient.  相似文献

Competitive interactions within diverse mixed populations of chemically active sites are prevalent throughout nature, science, and engineering. Their effects are readily seen in the distribution of dead and surviving aerobic cells within a thick biofilm and particle shape changes during the growth and coarsening of crystals. Even in the most dilute case, competition for a reactant requires at least two spheres/cells, and the solution of the two-spherical sink problem is of interest for several reasons. The solution accurately describes lower cell concentration behavior (10(8) cells/l), and like the Smoluchowski diffusion-reaction treatment for a single sphere, the analysis is extremely helpful in understanding the fundamental phenomena of the effect on the first spherical sink of the presence of a second different spherical sink. In addition these exact solutions are required for the systematic extension to higher density behavior by rigorous expansions in the spherical sink densities. The method of the twin spherical expansion is used with a formal matrix elimination scheme to generate an exact solution for two distinct spherical sinks of differing sizes and kinetics. The two sinks exist in a medium, which supplies a reactant to the sinks via Fickian diffusion. The two sinks compete for the same reactant with different first-order reactions occurring at the surface of each sink. Earlier work focused on two spherical sinks of the same size with identical surface reaction kinetics. This work has been advanced to allow for diversity in the theory of cellular or reactive sink competition. A number of interesting higher order interactive phenomena are observed in this paper when the different reactive sinks are in close proximity. (c) 2004 American Institute of Physics.  相似文献

A microemulsion electrokinetic chromatographic (MEEKC) method has been developed and validated for determination of resibufogenin and cinobufagin in toad venom and in traditional Chinese medicine prepared from the venom. The MEEKC method involved use of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as surfactant, heptane as organic solvent, and butan-1-ol as co-solvent. To improve the separation, the effect of temperature and running buffer pH were evaluated. The optimized conditions (heptane 0.81% (w/w), SDS 3.31% (w/w), butan-1-ol 6.61% (w/w), and 10 mmol L−1 sodium tetraborate buffer, pH 9.2, and 298 nm as the detection wavelength) enabled useful and repeatable separation of the analytes.  相似文献
