The aim of the present study is to determine the impact the finite size of dust particles has on the static and dynamic characteristics of the dust component of a plasma. Taking into account both the finite dimensions of dust grains and the plasma screening, a model expression is chosen for the interdust interaction potential. The static structure factor of dust particles is evaluated by iteratively solving the reference hypernetted‐chain approximation, which inherently contains the hard sphere model handled within the Percus–Yevick closure. The self‐consistent method of moments is then engaged to relate the static and dynamic structure factors by assuming that the second derivative of the dynamic structure factor with respect to the frequency vanishes at the origin. Thus, an analytical expression for the dynamic structure factor is validated over quite a broad domain of dusty plasma non‐ideality and grains packing fraction. The calculated spectrum of dust‐acoustic waves reveals the appearance of the roton minimum, which becomes less pronounced when the packing fraction of dust particles rises. It is also predicted that the wavenumber position of the roton minimum is de facto independent of the size of dust particles. New analytical expressions for the dust‐acoustic wave spectrum and decrement of damping are proposed and thoroughly checked.  相似文献

The bi-Yukawa effective interaction potential with different screening constants is employed to calculate dust static correlation functions in the hyper-netted chain approximation and to generalize the theory of dust acoustic waves within the non-perturbative moment approach complemented by hydrodynamic considerations. For the bi-Yukawa interaction potential the sound speed becomes significantly wavenumber-dependent, an additional soft diffusion-like mode is predicted, and the static dielectric function is shown to take negative values. The results can be applied to non-equilibrium dusty plasmas at elevated pressure.  相似文献

Propagation of both low and high frequency waves in a plasma consisting of electrons, ions, positrons and charged dust particles have been theoretically studied. The characteristics of dust acoustic wave propagating through the plasma has been analysed and the dispersion relation deduced is a generalization of that obtained by previous authors. It is found that nonlinear localization of high frequency electromagnetic field in such a plasma generates magnetic field. This magnetic field is seen to depend on the temperatures of electrons and positrons and also on their equilibrium density ratio. It is suggested that the present model would be applicable to find the magnetic field generation in space plasma.  相似文献

We have performed numerical analysis of the one-dimensional dynamics of the cylindrical/spherical dust ion acoustic shock waves in unmagnetized dusty plasma consisting of positive ions, immobile dust particles, and nonextensive distributed cold and hot electrons. A multiple-scale expansion method is used to derive Burgers Equation (BE) and modified Burgers equation (MBE) by including higher order nonlinearity. The basic characteristics of the shock waves have been analysed numerically and graphically for different physical parameters relevant to Saturn' E ring through 2D figures. The parametric dependence of dust ion acoustic shock waves on some plasma parameters nonextensive index, density, and temperature of cold and hot electrons, concentration of dust particles, thermal effects and kinematic viscosity of ions is explored. Furthermore, it is found that the nonplanar geometry effects have an important impact on the establishment of shock waves. The amplitude of the wave decreases faster as one departs away from the axis of the cylinder or centre of the sphere. Such decaying behaviour continues as time progresses. It is also found that an increasing dust concentration decreases the amplitude of the dust ion acoustic shock waves.  相似文献

Laser-excited waves in a two-dimensional dust plasma crystal have been observed experimentally in a parallel plate rf discharge. The measured dispersion relation is compared with theoretical models. Agreement is found with dust lattice waves, whereas deviations from dust acoustic waves exist. From the dispersion relation of a dust lattice wave the screening of the particles in the rf sheath is determined.  相似文献

A theoretical investigation has been carried out to study the effect of strong electrostatic interaction on the dust acoustic shock structures in strongly coupled dusty plasma with dust charge fluctuations. The fluid approach is employed,in which the strong electrostatic interaction is modeled by effective electrostatic temperature.A Burger-like equation, the coefficients of which are significantly modified by effects of strong coupling and dust charge Ructuation,is derived. It is shown that the combined effects of dust charge Ructuation, the ion/electron temperature, the ion/electron population, and strong coupling effect modify the basic properties of the dust acoustic waves in such a strongly coupled dusty plasma. The results of this work are compared with those observed by some laboratory experiments.  相似文献

The nonlinear characteristics of the dust acoustic(DA)waves are studied in a homogeneous, collisionless, unmagnetized, and dissipative dusty plasma composed of negatively charged dusty grains, superthermal electrons, and nonextensive ions.Sagdeev pseudopotential technique has been employed to study the large amplitude DA waves. It(Sagdeev pseudopotential)has an evidence for the existence of compressive and rarefractive solitons. The global features of the phase portrait are investigated to understand the possible types of solutions of the Sagdeev form.On the other hand, the reductive perturbation technique has been used to study small amplitude DA waves and yields the Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers(Kd V-Burgers)equation that exhibits both soliton and shock waves. The behavior of the obtained results of both large and small amplitude is investigated graphically in terms of the plasma parameters like dust kinematic viscosity, superthermal and nonextensive parameters.  相似文献

A theory of ion-sound waves in a dusty electron-positron-ion plasma is developed. It is shown in the linear approximation that periodic waves exist in a bounded range of parameters. The expression for the sound velocity is derived and the dependence of the velocity on the space charge of dust particles is analyzed. In the nonlinear theory, the general exact solution is obtained, which is then analyzed using the Bernoulli pseudopotential method. Particular solutions are obtained in the form of nonlinear periodic waves, large-amplitude periodic waves (superlinear waves), and solitary compression and rarefaction waves (solitons).  相似文献

The propagation of linear and nonlinear dust ion acoustic waves (DIAWs) are studied in a collisionless magnetized plasma which consists of warm ions having anisotropic thermal pressure, nonthermal (energetic) electrons and static dust particles of positive and negative charge polarity. The anisotropic ion pressure is defined using double adiabatic Chew‐Golberger‐Low (CGL) theory. In the linear regime, the propagation properties of the two possible modes are investigated via ion pressure anisotropy, dust particle polarity and nonthermality of electrons. Using reductive method Zakharov‐Kuznetsov (ZK) equation is derived for the propagation of two dimensional electrostatic dust ion acoustic solitary waves in dusty plasmas. It is found that both compressive and rarefactive solitons are formed in presence of nonthermal electrons using Cairn's distribution [R.A. Cairns, A.A. Mamun, R. Bingham, R.O. Dendy, R. Bostrom, C.M.C. Nairn and P.K. Shukla, Geophys.Res. Lett. 22 , 2709 (1995)] in the system. The ion pressure anisotropy, nonthermality of electrons and charge polarity of the dust particles have significant effects on the amplitude and width of the dust ion acoustic solitary waves in such anisotropic nonthermal magnetized dusty plasmas. The numerical results are also presented for illustration. Our finding is applicable to space dusty plasma regimes having anisotropic ion pressure and nonthermal electrons. ABSTRACT

In framework of the extended Poincaré–Lighthill–Kuo, the properties of dust acoustic (DA) solitary wave’s interaction are investigated in four-component quantum dusty plasma. Two Korteweg–de Vries equations describing the colliding DA solitary waves are derived by eliminating the secularities. By knowing the explicit form of the solitary wave solutions, the leading phase changes, trajectories and phase shifts are obtained, accordingly. The effects of various physical parameters such as the quantum mechanical parameters, the charge ratio between positive and negative dust particles, the mass ratio between negative and positive dust particles and the ratio of electron to ion temperatures are studied extensively. Our findings showed that these parameters play a significant role on the characteristics and basic features of DA solitary waves such as phase shifts in trajectories due to collision. The obtained results may be beneficial to understand well the collision of DA solitary waves that may occur in laboratory plasmas, space plasma as well as in plasma applications.  相似文献

Master equations for spherical dust structures are solved numerically using the asymptotic solutions at the center of the structures for the case of absence of external ionization and small diffusions. The structures are determined by a single parameter, the external plasma flux at the surface of the structure. The equilibrium states that are possible in a limited range of this parameter are investigated numerically. It is demonstrated that in the range of existence of equilibria the structures are changing their shapes and type of distributions inside the structures. For large external fluxes the ion and dust distributions can have peaks inside the structures while for low external fluxes the dust distribution has a single maximum at the structure center. The lower is the external flux supporting the structure the larger is its size. An increase of the external flux decreases the accumulation of dust and ions at the center. The total number of dust confined by the structure is larger for larger size structures. Estimates of dust crystallization inside structures are given. The role of diffusion is calculated by perturbations and is shown to be small in all structure regions except the structure edges. In the perturbation theory we use the exact expressions of the diffusion coefficients calculated previously numerically. The regions with dust density peaks inside the structures have been calculated with two order of magnitude larger precision that allows to resolve the structure parameter dependencies inside the peaks. It is shown that although in peaks the gradients of all parameters are increased the diffusion flux is still small and that the continuity and hydrodynamic approach are applicable within an accuracy about several %‐s (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. ABSTRACT

Nonlinear propagation of dust-ion-acoustic shock waves in an unmagnetized, collisionless four-component quantum plasma containing electrons, positrons, ions and negatively charged dust grains affected by dust charge variations and viscosity of ions is studied using quantum hydrodynamic model. Considering dust charge variation give rise to calculating of charging currents of the plasma particles. These currents have been calculated with orbit limited motion theory and using Fermi-distribution functions or Boltzmann–Maxwell distribution depending on quantum or classical particles, respectively. The basic characteristics of quantum dust-ion-acoustic shock waves are investigated by deriving Korteweg–de Vries–Burgers equation under the reductive perturbation method. Depending on the relative values of the dispersive and dissipative coefficients, oscillatory and monotonic shock waves can propagate in the plasma model. The effect of chemical potential and density of dust particles on the shock wave’s height and thickness is investigated. In addition, the critical value of H (Hc) is calculated and it is shown that for R?>?0 compressive shock waves and for R?<?0 rarefactive ones can exist. The present study is applicable to researchers on quantum nonlinear structures in dense astrophysical objects and ultra-small micro- and nano-electronic devices.  相似文献

The effect of dust size distribution in ultracold quantum dusty plasmas are investigated in this paper. How the dispersion relation and the propagation velocity for the quantum dusty plasma vary with the system parameters and the different dust distribution are studied. It is found that as the Fermi temperature of the dust grains increases the frequency of the wave increases for large wave number dust acoustic wave. The quantum parameter of Hd also increases the frequency of the large wave number dust acoustic wave. It is also found that the frequency ω0 and the propagation velocity v0 of quantum dust acoustic waves all increase as the total number density increases. They are greater for unusual dusty plasmas than those of the usual dusty plasma.  相似文献

Previous considerations of dust acoustic waves is demonstrated to be inconsistent ‐ the required equilibrium state for perturbations was not defined since balance of plasma fluxes was neglecting. The self‐consistent treatment shows that plasma flux perturbations are accompanying any collective waves propagating in dusty plasmas and can play an important role in wave dispersion, wave damping and can create instabilities. This is illustrated by the derivation of dispersion relation for dust acoustic modes taking into account the plasma flux balances and plasma flux perturbations by waves. The result of this approach shows that the dust acoustic waves with linear dependence of wave frequency on the wave number exist only in restricted range of the wave numbers. Only for wave numbers larger than some critical wave number for low frequency modes the frequency can be have approximately a linear dependence on wave number and can be called as dust acoustic wave but the phase velocity of these waves is different from that which can be obtained neglecting the flux balance and depends on grain charge variations which are determined by the balance of fluxes. The presence of plasma fluxes previously neglected is the main typical feature of dusty plasmas. The dispersion relation in the range of small wave numbers is found to be mainly determined by the change of the plasma fluxes and is quite different from that of dust acoustic type, namely it is found to have the same form as the well known dispersion relation for the gravitational instability. This result proves in general way the existence of the collective grain attractions of negatively charged grains for for large distances between them and for any source of ionization. The attraction of grains found from dispersion relation of the dust acoustic branch coincides with that found previously for pair grain interactions using some models for the ionization source. For the existing experiments the effective Jeans length for such attraction is estimated to be about 8 – 10 times larger than the ion Debye length and the effective gravitational constant for the grain attraction is estimated to be several orders of magnitude larger than the usual gravitational constant. The grain attraction at large inter‐grain distances described by the gravitationlike grain instability is considered as the simplest explanation for observed dust cloud clustering, formation of dust structures including the plasma crystals. Characteristic features of low frequency transverse wave propagating in a magnetised dusty plasma have been analysed considering the effect of dust-charge fluctuation. The distinctive behaviours of both the left circularly polarised and right circularly polarised waves have been exhibited through the analysis of linear and non-linear dispersion relations. The phase velocity, group velocity, and group travel time for the waves have been obtained and their propagation characteristics have been shown graphically with the variations of wave frequency, dust density and amplitude of the wave. The change in non-linear wave number shift and Faraday rotation angle have also been exhibited with respect to the plasma parameters. It is observed that the effects of dust particles are significant only when the higher order contributions are considered. This may be referred to as the ‘dust regime’ in plasma.  相似文献

The nonlinear propagation of small amplitude dust‐acoustic (DA) solitary waves in magnetized dusty plasma consisting of negatively charged mobile dust fluid, and Boltzmann‐distributed electrons and ions with two distinct temperatures following a q‐nonextensive distribution are investigated. In this article, a number of nonlinear equations, namely, the Korteweg–de‐Vries (K‐dV) equations, have been derived by employing the reductive perturbation technique that is valid for a small but finite amplitude limit. The effects of nonextensivity of ions with two distinct temperatures and dust concentration on the amplitude and width of DA solitary waves are investigated theoretically. It is observed that both the nonextensive and low‐temperatures ions significantly modify the basic properties and polarities of DA solitary waves. It is shown that both positive and negative potential DA solitons occur in this case. The implications of these results to some astrophysical environments and space plasmas (e.g., stellar polytropes, peculiar velocity distributions of galaxies, and collisionless thermal plasma), and laboratory dusty plasma systems are briefly mentioned.  相似文献
