In this paper the magnetic properties of ferromagnetic thin layers are studied by calculating the partition function for the magnetic system inKirkwood's approximation of the second order. The results obtained for the Curie temperature and the magnetization are in somewhat better agreement with the experiment than those obtained by Valenta.

We consider some models of classical statistical mechanics which admit an investigation by means of the theory of dominant ground states. Our models are related to the Gibbs ensemble for the multidimensional SOS model with symmetric constraints x m/2. The main result is that for 0, where 0 does not depend onm, the structure of thermodynamic phases in the model is determined by dominant ground states: for an evenm a Gibbs state is unique and for an oddm the number of space-periodic pure Gibbs states is two.  相似文献

The theory of new type detectors based on the quenching of secondary emission in direct-gap semiconductors (lines of Raman light scattering due to interaction between free and bound excitons in the crystal, and also bands of edge radiation) caused by IR or submillimeter radiation is proposed. The results obtained are confirmed by the experiment performed for CdS crystal excited by ultraviolet radiation of mercury lamp, at liquid helium temperature.  相似文献

The periodic domain structures on unfavourably oriented surface layers of ferromagnetic materials were studied both experimentally and theoretically. The connection between the surface structure and the crystallographic orientation of the crystals was confirmed. All the terms contributing to the total energy of the surface layer were calculated. A general solution of the potential problem is given for arbitrary periodic distribution of the charges.

We introduce o(p+1q+1)-invariant bilinear differential operators on the space of tensor densities on Rn generalizing the well-known bilinear sl2-invariant differential operators in the one-dimensional case, called Transvectants or Rankin–Cohen brackets. A method is described for measuring the relative quantum efficiency of the internal photo-electric effect in semi-conductors by simultaneously measuring the photo-magnetoelectric and photo-conductive effect. The results of measurements on indium antimonide are given. The quantum efficiency begins to increase if the energy of the photon exceeds 0·47 eVat room temperature. The quantum efficiency as a function of the energy of the photon is analysed on the basis of the conception of impact ionization and it is shown that a study of the structure of this curve can supply information on the, band structure of a semi-conductor in the region of high energies of electrons and holes.

By expressing classical electron theory in terms of charge-field functional structures, it is shown that a finite formulation of the classical electrodynamics of point charges emerges in a simple and elegant fashion. The classical charge-field form of microscopic electron theory plays the role of a covering theory for renormalized classical electron theory, with the distinct advantage that this is accomplished by adynamic subtraction mechanism, built into the theory. We then generalize this formalism into a hole-theoretic, second-quantized Dirac formulation, in order to construct a charge-field quantum electrodynamic theory, and discuss its basic properties. We find, in addition to the possibility that the finiteness of the classical theory may be propagated into the quantum field theory, that interacting photon states are generated as a secondary manifestation of electron-positron quantization, and do not require the usual free canonical quantization scheme. We discuss the possibility that this approach may lead to a better formulation of quantum electrodynamics in the Heisenberg picture and suggest a crucial experimental test to distinguish this new charge-field quantum electrodynamics QEMED from the standard QED formulation. Specifically QEMED predicts that the Einstein principle of separability should be found to be valid for correlated photon polarization measurements, in which the polarizers are changed more rapidly than a characteristic photon travel time. Such an experiment (Aspect, 1976) can distinguish between QEMED and QED in a complete and clear-cut fashion.  相似文献

A kinetic theory for the constitutive Theological relations of rapid granular shear flow of hard circular disks, characterized by a coefficient of restitutione and a surface roughness coefficient, is formulated. From a set of general constitutive equations for single-particle dynamical variables, the approximate expressions for the limit of small and large dimensionless dissipative parameterR t are obtained. HereR t is defined as the ratio /, where is the fluctuation of translational velocity from the mean flow velocity, is the diameter of a disk, and is the shear rate. At smallR t the theoretical predictions can be compared with exact computer simulation results of granular dynamics that are also reported. The agreement between theory and simulation is better than expected; the present theory is accurate up to high packing density in this region ofR t .  相似文献

We study the Sine-Gordon field theory at 2=8. We prove that the theory is renormalizable but not superrenormalizable and we show how the perturbative renormalization procedure works in this case where the interaction is not polynomial. To go beyond the perturbative results we investigate the -functional equation for this theory and discuss in what sense at 2=8 the theory is lacking the asymptotic freedom and how it is asymptotic free for 2<8 in a appropriate region of the coupling constants.  相似文献

The neutron density in the vicinity of a black cylindrical rod partly inserted in a bare reactor is calculated and illustrated by a numerical example. The starting point is a two-group diffusion theory approximation. While the dependence of the effect of the rod on the insertion depth can be calculated simply by means of perturbation theory, the question of the neutron density estimate in the vicinity of the rod is considerably more difficult and in some considerations the estimate of the neutron density caused by the presence of the rod is indispensable. The method makes it possible to determine the reactivity value of the rod in dependence on the insertion depth and especially the neutron density deformation in the vicinity of the rod.

We consider a new expression for the dependence of mass on velocity, more general than the corresponding law of the special theory of relativity (STR). The deviations from the STR become large with increasing rest mass. One should therefore measure the dependence of mass on velocity for objects with a large rest mass. The theory predicts that particles with real mass can travel with hyperlight velocities. The space-time picture discussed here is close to Mach's conception: It is assumed that the dynamical behavior of a particle in uniform translational motion is due to the action of all the other masses in the universe. Space-time is eliminated as an active cause and, in contrast to the STR, is not absolute within the theory discussed here. It turns out that effects based on the new transformation formulas (from the coordinates and time in a stationary frame to the coordinates and time in a moving frame) are identical to those expected from the Lorentz transformations. For example, it is known that rapidly moving mesons decay with a longer half-life than stationary mesons and the STR describes this effect quantitatively. However, there is no strong evidence for the validity of the STR because the theory given in this paper predicts the same result.  相似文献

The influence of fringing on betatron oscillations in an accelerator with a sectioned magnet. I
A study is made of betatron oscillations in stray fields at the edges of magnets of an accelerator having a small radius. Two approximations of the course of stray fields, chosen on the basis of measurements, help in the construction of non-linear equations of motion of the particle. Transformation matrices of the boundary regions are derived. The case when an equilibrium trajectory encloses a general angle with the edge of the magnet is also treated.

Conclusions The main difference between the- nucleus and the nucleon-nucleus interaction is in the spin dependence. The spin-spin and spin-orbit interaction is an order of magnitude weaker for the-nucleus than for the nucleon-nucleus system. If we want to emphasize the difference between hypernuclei and nuclei in an oversimplifying manner, we may say that the particle in the nucleus behaves like a spinless neutron.This radical difference in the behaviour of particles and nucleons in nuclear matter presents a sensitive test for the models of nuclear matter. Hypernuclear spectroscopy if studied in detail, a program just begun, promises to give valuable information on the effective properties of the quasiparticles in the nucleus and their interactions, both basic ingredients of nuclear models.Rather surprisingly, hypernuclei live long enough to observe individual states, as can be deduced from the berylium results. These results should be verified as soon as possible. If they are confirmed, this will challenge experimentalists to determine the -nucleus interaction in the same way as done for particles and the theorists to explain why the strong decay of particles in the nucleus is hindered.Invited talk at the symposium Mesons and Light Nuclei, Liblice, Czechoslovakia, June 1981.  相似文献

The general theory of the preceding paper is applied to a concrete case. The spin wave interaction operator, s , is derived by quantizing a phenomenological expression, which expresses the contribution to the energy of the magnetic sample, caused by fluctuations in the anisotropic and exchange interaction. The influence of thermally excited spin waves on the absorption of energy from a high-frequency field and the justification for the application of the general results of the preceding paper are discussed on the basis of the form of the operator s . The interaction operator of the magnetic sample with the h-f field is also determined, and it is used to give a definite form to the expression for the resonance curve of the imaginary part of the susceptibility '. Using the matrix elements of the operator s we calculate the quantitiy, which formally corresponds to the width of the resonance -curve. The magnitude of is estimated numerically and our results are compared with those obtained by A. M. Clogston et al. and E. Schlömann for the line width in monocrystals and the shape of the resonance curve in polycrystals respectively. The expression obtained on the basis of the theory of the preceding paper for the frequency shift diverges in our case. The way in which to avoid this divergence is indicated.

A study is made of the influence of successive asymmetrical magnetization reversal on the magnetic state of open samples, where the macroscopic demagnetization field has a significant effect during magnetization reversal and leads to a sort of rotation of the asymmetrical loops performed one after another. This effect is similar to reptation, which was studied experimentally by Nguyen van Dang [1–4] and theoretically explained by Néel [5, 6]. The quantitative expression of the rotation of asymmetrical loops in open samples as a function of the number of loops and amplitude of the disymmetry is similar to that with the reptation effect.
