A new series of photoactivated DNA oxidizing agents in which an acridine moiety is covalently linked to viologen by an alkylidene spacer was synthesized, and their photophysical properties and interactions with DNA, including DNA cleaving properties, were investigated. The fluorescence quantum yields of the viologen-linked acridines were found to be lower than that of the model compound 9-methylacridine (MA). The changes in free energy for the electron transfer reactions were found to be favorable, and the fluorescence quenching observed in these systems is explained by an electron transfer mechanism. Intramolecular electron transfer rate constants were calculated from the observed fluorescence quantum yields and singlet lifetime of MA and are in the range from 1.06x10(10) s(-1) for 1 a (n=1) to 6x10(8) s(-1) for 1 c (n=11), that is, the rate decreases with increasing spacer length. Nanosecond laser flash photolysis of these systems in aqueous solutions showed no transient absorption, but in the presence of guanosine or calf thymus DNA, transient absorption due to the reduced viologen radical cation was observed. Studies on DNA binding demonstrated that the viologen-linked acridines bind effectively to DNA in both intercalative and electrostatic modes. Results of PM2 DNA cleavage studies indicate that, on photoexcitation, these molecules induce DNA damage that is sensitive to formamidopyrimidine DNA glycosylase. These viologen-linked acridines are quite stable in aqueous solutions and oxidize DNA efficiently and hence can be useful as photoactivated DNA-cleaving agents which function purely by the co-sensitization mechanism.  相似文献

In order to understand the roles of protein matrix in electron transfer processes (ET) within biological systems, a heme-based donor (Zn-heme: ZnPP)-sensitizer (Ru2+(bpy)3)-acceptor (cyclic viologen: BXV4+) triad 1 was used as a probe molecule. Two semi-synthetic systems, Cyt-b562(1) and Mb(1), in which the triad is incorporated into cytochrome b562 (Cyt-b562) or into myoglobin (Mb), were constructed by cofactor reconstitution. These two semi-synthetic proteins were compared with the triad itself (i.e., without the protein matrix) using absorption spectroscopy, steady state emission and excitation studies, laser flash photolysis experiments, and molecular modeling. Photoexcitation of the ZnPP moiety of Cyt-b562(1) or Mb(1) leads to a direct ET from the triplet state of ZnPP state (3ZnPP) to BXV4+ to generate a final charge-separated (CS) state, Cyt-b562(Zn+)-Ru2+-BXV3+* or Mb(Zn+)-Ru2+-BXV3+*. On the other hand, direct ET from the excited ZnPP moiety to the BXV4+ moiety is also involved in 1 in the absence of the protein matrix, but the excited state of ZnPP involved is not 3ZnPP, but the singlet excited state (1ZnPP) in this pathway. When the Ru2+(bpy)3 moiety of Cyt-b562(1) or Mb(1) is excited, a stepwise ET relay occurs with the ion-pair, Cyt-b562(Zn)-Ru3+-BXV3+* or Mb(Zn)-Ru3*-BXV3+*, as an intermediate, leading to the same final CS state as that generated in the direct ET pathway. The lifetimes of the corresponding final CS states were determined to be 300 ns for 1 in the absence of the protein matrix, 600-900 ns for Cyt-b562(1) and 1.1-18 micros for Mb(1), the values of which are greatly affected by the protein matrix. Molecular modeling study of the three systems consistently explained the differences of their photophysical behavior.  相似文献

Rate constants of photoinduced electron-transfer oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids with a series of singlet excited states of oxidants in acetonitrile at 298 K were examined and the resulting electron-transfer rate constants (k(et)) were evaluated in light of the free energy relationship of electron transfer to determine the one-electron oxidation potentials (E(ox)) of unsaturated fatty acids and the intrinsic barrier of electron transfer. The k(et) values of linoleic acid with a series of oxidants are the same as the corresponding k(et) values of methyl linoleate, linolenic acid, and arachidonic acid, leading to the same E(ox) value of linoleic acid, methyl linoleate, linolenic acid, and arachidonic acid (1.76 V vs SCE), which is significantly lower than that of oleic acid (2.03 V vs SCE) as indicated by the smaller k(et) values of oleic acid than those of other unsaturated fatty acids. The radical cation of linoleic acid produced in photoinduced electron transfer from linoleic acid to the singlet excited state of 10-methylacridinium ion as well as that of 9,10-dicyanoanthracene was detected by laser flash photolysis experiments. The apparent rate constant of deprotonation of the radical cation of linoleic acid was determined as 8.1 x 10(3) s(-1). In the presence of oxygen, the addition of oxygen to the deprotonated radical produces the peroxyl radical, which has successfully been detected by ESR. No thermal electron transfer or proton-coupled electron transfer has occurred from linoleic acid to a strong one-electron oxidant, Ru(bpy)3(3+) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) or Fe(bpy)3(3+). The present results on the electron-transfer and proton-transfer properties of unsaturated fatty acids provide valuable mechanistic insight into lipoxygenases to clarify the proton-coupled electron-transfer process in the catalytic function.  相似文献

Interaction of beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) with a few novel electron donor acceptor dyads 1a-c and 2a-c, having aryl and flexible methylene spacer groups, has been investigated through photophysical, chiroptical, electrochemical, NMR, and microscopic techniques. Dyads 1a and 1c, with p-tolyl and biphenyl spacer groups, respectively, exhibited significantly decreased fluorescence quantum yields and lifetimes in the presence of beta-CD, while negligible changes were observed for dyad 1b with an o-tolyl spacer. In contrast, spacer-length-dependent significant enhancement in fluorescence quantum yields and lifetimes was observed for dyads 2a-c, with flexible polymethylene (n = 1, 3, 11) spacer groups. Association constants of beta-CD encapsulated complexes have been determined and the contrast behavior observed in these systems is explained through an electron transfer (kET) mechanism based on calculated favorable change in free energy (DeltaGET = -1.27 eV) and the redox species characterized through laser flash photolysis studies. Rates of kET have been estimated and are found to increase ca. 2-fold in the case of dyads 1a and 1c when encapsulated in beta-CD, while significantly decreased kET values were observed for the dyads 2a-c with flexible spacer (ca. 9-fold for 2c). As characterized through cyclic voltammetry, 2D NMR [correlated (COSY) and nuclear Overhauser enhancement (NOESY) spectroscopy], and laser flash photolysis studies, the beta-CD encapsulation of dyads with aliphatic spacer groups leads to the conformational unfolding of a sandwich type of structure, whereas dyads with rigid aryl spacer groups undergo unusual planarization as compared to the uncomplexed dyads, resulting in enhanced electron-transfer reaction between the donor and acceptor moieties.  相似文献

Photoinduced electron transfer from a variety of electron donors including alkylbenzenes to the singlet excited state of acridine and pyrene is accelerated significantly by the presence of scandium triflate [Sc(OTf)(3)] in acetonitrile, whereas no photoinduced electron transfer from alkylbenzenes to the singlet excited state of acridine or pyrene takes place in the absence of Sc(OTf)(3). The rate constants of the Sc(OTf)(3)-promoted photoinduced electron-transfer reactions (k(et)) of acridine to afford the complex between acridine radical anion and Sc(OTf)(3) remain constant under the conditions such that all the acridine molecules form the complex with Sc(OTf)(3). In contrast to the case of acridine, the k(et) value of the Sc(OTf)(3)-promoted photoinduced electron transfer of pyrene increases with an increase in concentration of Sc(OTf)(3) to exhibit first-order dependence on [Sc(OTf)(3)] at low concentrations, changing to second-order dependence at high concentrations. The first-order and second-order dependence of k(et) on [Sc(OTf)(3)] is ascribed to the 1:1 and 1:2 complexes formation between pyrene radical anion and Sc(OTf)(3). The positive shifts of the one-electron redox potentials for the couple between the singlet excited state and the ground-state radical anion of acridine and pyrene in the presence of Sc(OTf)(3) as compared to those in the absence of Sc(OTf)(3) have been determined by adapting the free energy relationship for the photoinduced electron-transfer reactions. The Sc(OTf)(3)-promoted photoinduced electron transfer from hexamethylbenzene to the singlet excited state of acridine or pyrene leads to efficient oxygenation of hexamethylbenzene to produce pentamethylbenzyl alcohol which is further oxygenated under prolonged photoirradiation of an O(2)-saturated acetonitrile solution of hexamethylbenzene in the presence of acridine or pyrene which acts as a photocatalyst together with Sc(OTf)(3). The photocatalytic oxygenation mechanism has been proposed based on the studies on the quantum yields, the fluorescence quenching, and direct detection of the reaction intermediates by ESR and laser flash photolysis.  相似文献

A series of soluble metal-organic polymers that contain Ru(II)- and Os(II)-polypyridine complexes interspersed within a pi-conjugated poly(3-octylthiophene) backbone are prepared. Detailed electrochemical and photophysical studies are carried out on the polymers and two model complexes to determine the extent that the metal-polypyridine units interact with the pi-conjugated system. The results indicate that there is a strong electronic interaction between the metal-based chromophores and the pi-conjugated organic segments, and consequently the photophysical properties are not simply based on the sum of the properties of the individual components. In the Ru(II) polymers, the metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) excited state is slightly higher in energy than the 3 pi,pi* state of the poly(3-octylthiophene) backbone. This state ordering results in a material that displays only a weak MLCT luminescence and a long-lived transient absorption spectrum that is dominated by the 3 pi,pi* state. In the Os(II) polymer the MLCT state is lower in energy than the polythiophene-based 3 pi,pi* state and the "unperturbed" MLCT emission is observed. Finally, all of the metal-organic polymers undergo photoinduced bimolecular electron-transfer (ET) reactions with the oxidative quencher dimethyl viologen. Transient absorption spectroscopy reveals that photoinduced ET to dimethyl viologen produces the oxidized polymers, and in most cases, the transient spectra are dominated by features characteristic of a poly(3-octylthiophene) polaron.  相似文献

Metal-to-ligand charge-transfer sensitized upconverted fluorescence in noncovalent triplet energy transfer assemblies is investigated using Ir(ppy)3 as the sensitizer (ppy=2-phenylpyridine) and pyrene or 3,8-di-tert-butylpyrene as the triplet acceptor/annihilator. Upconverted singlet fluorescence from pyrene or 3,8-di-tert-butylpyrene resulting from triplet-triplet annihilation (TTA) is observed following selective excitation of Ir(ppy)3 in deaerated dichloromethane solutions using 450-nm laser pulses. In both systems, the TTA process is confirmed by the near quadratic dependence of the upconverted fluorescence intensity on incident light power, measured by integrating the upconverted delayed fluorescence kinetic traces as a function of incident excitation power. At the relatively high concentrations of pyrene that were utilized, pyrene excimer formation was detected by its characteristic broad emission centered near 470 nm. In essence, selective excitation of Ir(ppy)3 ultimately resulted in the simultaneous sensitization of both singlet pyrene and pyrene excimers, and the latter degrades the energy stored in the pyrene singlet excited state. Furthermore, in the case of di-tert-butylpyrene/Ir(ppy)3, the formation of excimers is successfully blocked because of the presence of the sterically hindering tert-butyl groups. The current work demonstrates that sensitized TTA is indeed accessible to chromophore systems beyond those previously reported, suggesting the generality of the approach.  相似文献

Bichromophoric compound 3 beta-((2-(methoxycarbonyl)bicyclo[2.2.1]hepta-2,5-diene-3-yl)carboxy)androst-5-en-17 beta-yl-[2-(N-carbazolyl)acetate] (NBD-S-CZ) was synthesized and its photochemistry was examined by fluorescence quenching, flash photolysis, and chemically induced dynamic nuclear polarization (CIDNP) methods. Fluorescence quenching measurements show that intramolecular electron transfer from the singlet excited state of the carbazole to the norbornadiene group in NBD-S-CZ occurs with an efficiency (Phi SET) of about 14 % and rate constant (kSET) of about 1.6 x 10(7) s-1. Phosphorescence and flash photolysis studies reveal that intramolecular triplet energy transfer and electron transfer from the triplet carbazole to the norbornadiene group proceed with an efficiency (TET + TT) of about 52 % and rate constant (kTET + kTT) of about 3.3 x 10(5) s-1. Upon selective excitation of the carbazole chromophore, nuclear polarization is detected for protons of the norbornadiene group (emission) and its quadricyclane isomer (enhanced absorption); this suggests that the isomerization of the norbornadiene group to the quadricyclane proceeds by a radical-ion pair recombination mechanism in addition to intramolecular triplet sensitization. The long-distance intramolecular triplet energy transfer and electron transfers starting both from the singlet and triplet excited states are proposed to proceed by a through-bond mechanism.  相似文献

The lowest excited state of aromatic carbonyl compounds (naphthaldehydes, acetonaphthones, and 10-methylacridone) is changed from the n,pi triplet to the pi,pi singlet which becomes lower in energy than the n,pi triplet by the complexation with metal ions such as Mg(ClO(4))(2) and Sc(OTf)(3) (OTf = triflate), which act as Lewis acids. Remarkable positive shifts of the one-electron reduction potentials of the singlet excited states of the Lewis acid-carbonyl complexes (e.g., 1.3 V for the 1-naphthaldehyde-Sc(OTf)(3) complex) as compared to those of the triplet excited states of uncomplexed carbonyl compounds result in a significant increase in the redox reactivity of the Lewis acid complexes vs uncomplexed carbonyl compounds in the photoinduced electron-transfer reactions. Such enhancement of the redox reactivity of the Lewis acid complexes leads to the efficient C-C bond formation between benzyltrimethylsilane and aromatic carbonyl compounds via the Lewis-acid-promoted photoinduced electron transfer. The quantum yield determinations, the fluorescence quenching, and direct detection of the reaction intermediates by means of laser flash photolysis experiments indicate that the Lewis acid-catalyzed photoaddition reactions proceed via photoinduced electron transfer from benzyltrimethylsilane to the singlet excited states of Lewis acid-carbonyl complexes.  相似文献

Novel bifunctional conjugates 1-3, with varying polymethylene spacer groups, were synthesized, and their DNA interactions have been investigated by various biophysical techniques. The absorption spectra of these systems showed bands in the regions of 300-375 and 375-475 nm, corresponding to acridine and acridinium chromophores, respectively. When compared to 1 (Phi(f) = 0.25), bifunctional derivatives 2 and 3 exhibited quantitative fluorescence yields (Phi(f) = 0.91 and 0.98) and long lifetimes (tau = 38.9 and 33.2 ns). The significant quenching of fluorescence and lifetimes observed in the case of 1 is attributed to intramolecular electron transfer from the excited state of the acridine chromophore to the acridinium moiety. DNA-binding studies through spectroscopic investigations, viscosity, and thermal denaturation temperature measurements indicate that these systems interact with DNA preferentially through intercalation of the acridinium chromophore and exhibit significant DNA association constants (K(DNA) = 10(5)-10(7) M(-1)). Compound 1 exhibits chromophore-selective electron-transfer reactions and DNA binding, wherein only the acridinium moiety of 1 interacts with DNA, whereas optical properties of the acridine chromophore remain unperturbed. Among bifunctional derivatives 2 and 3, the former undergoes DNA mono-intercalation, whereas the latter exhibits bis-intercalation; however both of them interact through mono-intercalation at higher ionic strength. Results of these investigations demonstrate that these novel water-soluble systems, which exhibit quantitative fluorescence yields, chromophore-selective electron transfer, and DNA intercalation, can have potential use as probes in biological applications.  相似文献

When a viologen-linked Mn(III)porphyrin complex with a short methylene-chain, in which a viologen is covalently linked by the methylene-chain into one phenyl group of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrinatomanganese(III)chloride (Mn(III)(tpp)Cl), was used as a catalyst for a monooxygenation of cyclohexene in an air-equilibrated acetonitrile solution containing insoluble zinc powder as a reductant, more cyclohexene oxide was obtained as a single product than when Mn(tpp)Cl was used as a catalyst. Benzoic acid as a cleaving reagent of the dioxygen double-bond and 1-methylimidazole as a ligand to Mn porphyrin were further contained in the reaction mixture. This result implies that the viologen moiety in the viologen-linked Mn(III)porphyrin acted effectively as a mediator for electron transfer from zinc powder to the Mn(III)porphyrin moiety in the epoxidation cycle activating molecular dioxygen reductively. Though Mn(tpp)Cl was remarkably demetallated by H+ ion from benzoic acid during the epoxidation reaction in the mixed system of Mn(III)(tpp)Cl and viologen, the demetallation of the viologen-linked Mn porphyrin with the short methylene-chain was partly prevented because the reduction of a Mn(II)porphyrin-dioxygen adduct was easily caused by fast intramolecular electron-transfer between the two moieties of the viologen and the Mn porphyrin, proceeding the epoxidation cycle smoothly.  相似文献

The synthesis, characterization and photophysical properties of two perfluoroalkyl (5,10,15,20-tetrakis-[trifluoromethyl]- and [heptafluoropropyl]-porphyrin) and two perfluoroaryl (5,10,15,20-tetrakis-[2,6-difluorophenyl]- and [pentafluorophenyl]-porphyrin) are described, with reference to their potential in both photodynamic therapy (PDT) and in vivo imaging by fluorescence and 19F nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Absorption and fluorescence spectra, fluorescence lifetimes and triplet-singlet difference spectra are reported. Triplet yields have been obtained by flash photolysis and pulse radiolysis, whereas yields of sensitized singlet oxygen formation have been determined by time-resolved phosphorimetry. All four compounds show high yields of triplet formation and singlet oxygen sensitization. The spectral properties, stability and attractive solubility characteristics of the perfluoroalkyl derivatives make them particularly suitable candidates for future study for applications in PDT.  相似文献

The spectroscopic and photophysical properties for a series of bis-adduct derivatives of C60 have been studied using a combination of time-resolved and steady state techniques, including picosecond single photon counting and laser flash photolysis. The electronic absorption and fluorescence spectra are red shifted with respect to those of C60. As with the parent fullerene, the main deactivation channel of the excited singlet state is intersystem crossing with the yields of singlet oxygen ranging from 0.63 to 0.97. Our results demonstrate that the photophysical properties depend on the addition pattern of the addends.  相似文献

Product analyses and nanosecond time-resolved spectroscopy on laser flash photolysis were studied for the photoinduced electron-transfer reaction of 3,4-di(alpha-styryl)furan (6a). A combination of these results, kinetic, density functional theoretical (DFT), and time-dependent DFT analyses enabled assignment of the absorption to the tetramethyleneethane (TME)-type radical cation (7a*+, lambda(max) = 392 nm) and the corresponding singlet biradical ((1)7a**, lambda(max) = 661 nm). These two intermediates were mechanistically linked to each other with a facile back electron-transfer reaction. The present studies provide a new method for the generation of aryl-substituted TME-type intermediates.  相似文献

Abstract— –The spectroscopic properties of riboflavin tetrabutyrate have been studied in lecithin lipo-somes and several detergent micellar systems. The results indicate that the flavin chromophore is located close to the liposome-water interphase rather than in the hydrophobic region. By varying the number of flavins contained in each liposome and employing fluorescence spectroscopy and steady state photolysis techniques, the possible existence of two distinct environments for the flavin chromophore was demonstrated. Several basic photochemical properties of riboflavin tetrabutyrate in liposomes and micellar systems were investigated using laser flash and microsecond flash photolysis techniques.  相似文献

The aerobic riboflavin (Rf)-sensitized visible-light irradiation of Trolox (TX), a polar-solvent-soluble model for vitamin E, has been studied employing stationary photolysis, polarographic detection of oxygen uptake, stationary and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, and laser flash photolysis. Results indicate that in methanolic solution, no dark complexation exists between Rf and TX. The latter quenches singlet and triplet states of Rf, with rate constants of 6.2 x 10(9) M(-1) s(-1) and 4.7 x 10(9) M(-1) s(-1), respectively. The photodecomposition of Rf, a known process taking place from triplet Rf, has been found to depend on the concentration of dissolved TX: at >/=30 mM very slight Rf photodecomposition occurs due to the massive quenching of excited singlet Rf, while at TX concentrations < or =1 mM triplet Rf is photogenerated and subsequently quenched either by oxygen, giving rise to O(2)((1)Delta(g)), or by TX, yielding semireduced Rf through an electron transfer process. Complementary experiments performed in pure water employing superoxide dismutase and sodium azide inhibition of the oxygen uptake, in coincidence with flash photolysis data, indicate that superoxide anion and singlet molecular oxygen are generated, likely by the reaction of the anion radical from Rf with dissolved oxygen, also yielding neutral, ground state Rf or by energy transfer from triplet Rf to ground-state oxygen, respectively. The final result is that both TX and Rf are photodegraded, likely through oxidation with activated oxygen species. In the absence of oxygen no degradation of TX can be detected, but Rf photodegradation is favoured because Rf regeneration is avoided.  相似文献

The reconstituted zinc-myoglobin (ZnMb) dyads, ZnMb-[M(II)(edta)], have been prepared by incorporating a zinc-porphyrin (ZnP) cofactor modified with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (H(4)edta) into apo-Mb. In case of the monomeric ZnP(edta) cofactor coordinated by one pyridine molecule, ZnP(py)(edta), a spontaneous 1:1 complex with a transient metal ion was formed in an aqueous solvent, and the photoexcited singlet state of ZnP, (1)(ZnP)*, was quenched by the [Cu(II)(edta)] moiety through intramolecular photoinduced electron-transfer (ET) reaction. The rate constant for the intramolecular quenching ET (k(q)) at 25 degrees C was successfully obtained as k(q) = 5.1 x 10(9) s(-1). In the case of Co(2+), Ni(2+), and Mn(2+), intersystem crossing by paramagnetic effect was mainly considered between (1)(ZnP)* and the [M(II)(edta)] complex. For the ZnMb-[M(II)(edta)] systems, the intramolecular ET reaction between the excited singlet state of (1)(ZnMb)* and the [Cu(II)(edta)] moieties provided the slower quenching rate constant, k(q) = 2.1 x 10(8) s(-1), compared with that of the ZnP(py)(edta) one. Kinetic studies also presented the efficient fluorescence quenching of the (1)(ZnMb)*-[Co(II)(edta)] dyad. Our study clearly demonstrates that wrapping of the ZnP cofactor by the apoprotein matrix and synthetic manipulation at the Mb surface ensure metal ion-sensitive fluorescent dynamics of ZnMb and provides valuable information to elucidate the complicated mechanism of the biological photoinduced ET reactions of hemoproteins.  相似文献

The electron transfer from the benzophenone ketyl radical in the excited state (BPH(.-)(D(1))) to several quenchers (Qs) was investigated using nanosecond/picosecond two-color two-laser flash photolysis and nanosecond/nanosecond two-color two-laser flash photolysis. The electron transfer from BPH(.-)(D(1)) to Qs was confirmed by the transient absorption and fluorescence quenching measurements. The intermolecular electron-transfer rate constants were determined using the Stern-Volmer analysis. The driving force dependence of the electron-transfer rate was revealed.  相似文献

A series of water-soluble 1,4,5,8-naphthalene diimide derivatives has been prepared and their redox and photophysical properties characterized. From laser flash photolysis studies, the triplet excited state of N,N'-bis[2-(N-pyridinium)ethyl]-1,4,5,8-naphthalene diimide (NDI-pyr) was found to undergo oxidative quenching with the electron donors DABCO, tyrosine, and tryptophan as expected from thermodynamics. Interestingly, the reactivities of naphthalene diimides (NDI) possessing alpha- and beta-carboxylic acid substituents (R = -CH2COO-, -C(CH3)2COO-, and -CH2CH2COO-) were strikingly different. In these compounds, the transient produced upon 355 nm excitation did not react with the electron donors. Instead, this transient reacted rapidly (k > 10(8)-10(9) M-1 s-1) with known electron acceptors, benzyl viologen and ferricyanide. The transient spectrum of the carboxyalkyl-substituted naphthalimides observed immediately after the laser pulse was nearly identical to the one-electron-reduced form of 1,4,5,8-naphthalene diimide (produced independently using the bis-pyridinium-substituted naphthaldiimide). From our studies, we conclude that the transient produced upon nanosecond laser flash photolysis of NDI-(CH2)nCOO- is the species produced upon intramolecular electron transfer from the carboxylate moiety to the singlet excited state of NDI. In separate experiments, we verified that the singlet excited state of NDI-pyr does, indeed, react intermolecularly with acetate, alanine, and glycine. The process is further substantiated using thermodynamic driving force calculations. The results offer new prospects of the efficient photochemical production of reactive carbon-centered radicals.  相似文献

Photophysical properties of the pyrene chromophore covalently bound to poly(acrylic acid) were used to investigate the interactions of a pyrene substituted poly(acrylic acid) (1) with poly(vinyl amine hydrochloride) (PVAm), poly(1-aminoacrylic acid) (PDA), and poly(1-acetylaminoacrylic acid) (PADA) in aqueous solutions. A number of photophysical parameters were obtained from fluorescence emission and excitation spectra, the deconvolution of decay curves for pyrene monomer, and excited state complex fluorescence and the quenching of pyrene monomer fluorescence by nitromethane in polymer solutions. These photophysical parameters were considered to reflect the inter- and intrapolymer interactions in solutions of 1 , PVAm, PDA, and PADA. The formation of interpolymer complexes between 1 and PVAm was noticed at low (< 4) as well as high (> 8) values, whereas PDA and 1 formed interpolymer complexes at low pH only. No interpolymer complex formation was detected in solutions of 1 and PADA under low or high pH conditions. The structures of interpolymer complexes formed between 1 and PVAm under low and high pH conditions were found to be determined by the conformation of 1 . There were significant differences in the interpolymer interactions of 1 and PDA in comparison to those of 1 and PVAm; in particular, the fluorescence from the excited state complex was enhanced in solutions of 1 and PVAm but quenched in solutions of 1 and PDA. The investigations of terpolymer solutions of 1 , PVAm, and PADA indicated that the nature of interpolymer complexes formed in terpolymer solutions was determined by Coulombic interactions of the amino and carboxylic group containing polymers.  相似文献
