The mechanism for the large suppression of complete fusion in the 9Be+208Pb reaction has been investigated through measurement of sub-barrier breakup of 9Be. Excluding breakup through the 8Be ground state, whose lifetime is too long, a prompt breakup component remains, having sufficient probability to explain the observed suppression of complete fusion. This appears to be associated with interactions at the nuclear surface. The fusion suppression is predicted to be almost proportional to the charge of the target nucleus, making it most significant in reactions with heavy nuclei.  相似文献

Heavy-ion collision simulations in various classical models are discussed. Heavy-ion reactions with spherical and deformed nuclei are simulated in a classical rigid-body dynamics (CRBD) model which takes into account the reorientation of the deformed projectile. It is found that the barrier parameters not only on the initial orientations of the deformed nucleus, but also on the collision energy and the moment of inertia of the deformed nucleus. Maximum reorientation effect occurs at near- and below-barrier energies for light deformed nuclei. Calculated fusion cross-sections for 24Mg + 208Pb reaction are compared with a static-barrier-penetration model (SBPM) calculation to see the effect of reorientation. Heavy-ion reactions are also simulated in a 3-stage classical molecular dynamics (3S-CMD) model in which the rigid-body constraints are relaxed when the two nuclei are close to the barrier thus, taking into account all the rotational and vibrational degrees of freedom in the same calculation. This model is extended to simulate heavy-ion reactions such as6Li + 209Bi involving the weakly-bound projectile considered as a weakly-bound cluster of deuteron and 4He nuclei, thus, simulating a 3-body system in 3S-CMD model. All the essential features of breakup reactions, such as complete fusion, incomplete fusion, no-capture breakup and scattering are demonstrated.  相似文献

Fusion, breakup and scattering for the 9Be + 144Sm system at near barrier energies are investigated by different approaches. We show that at energies above the barrier there is a small complete fusion suppression when compared with predictions from a double folding potential and with a similar tightly bound system. At sub-barrier energies there is no significant deviation from the predictions using coupled channel calculations that do not include the breakup channel. The energy dependence of the optical potential does not show the usual threshold anomaly found in tightly bound systems. From a simultaneous analysis of fusion and scattering data we estimate the distance where breakup starts to occur.  相似文献

Results for the cross section and average angular momentum for complete fusion at energies around the Coulomb barrier are presented for 7Li with 165Ho. Comparison of the cross sections with a one-dimensional barrier penetration model, using a potential consistent with the measured elastic scattering, showed a reduction above the barrier and an enhancement below it. An increase in the measured average angular momentum, , above the barrier and its consistency with that obtained from the fusion excitation function for weakly bound nuclei, is reported. These results together with a reanalysis of existing data conclusively demonstrate that the effect of breakup on fusion is coherent, like coupling to any nonelastic channel.  相似文献

Spectra and angular distributions have been measured for the light particles emitted from the reactions induced by 36 MeV 6Li and 7Li ions on targets of 12C, 13C and 27Al. Some measurements were also performed at beam energies of 28 and 32 MeV. The spectra are dominated by broad peaks centered at energies corresponding to the beam velocity, a characteristic of projectile breakup. A simple breakup model roughly reproduces the shapes of the measured spectra and angular distributions. The total cross sections observed for projectile breakup average about 600 mb and are almost as large as the fusion cross sections. The 7Li breakup yields are somewhat larger than those for 6Li, the same trend that was previously observed for the Li-induced fusion cross sections on C. As a result the measured total reaction cross sections induced by 7Li ions are about 200 mb larger than those of 6Li on the same targets. This difference is not predicted by conventional optical model calculations.  相似文献

On the basis of a volume of fluid(VOF) liquid/liquid interface tracking method, we apply a two-dimensional model to investigate the dynamic behaviors of droplet breakup through a splitting microchannel. The feasibility and applicability of the theoretical model are experimentally validated. Four flow regimes are observed in the splitting microchannel, that is, breakup with permanent obstruction, breakup with temporary obstruction, breakup with tunnels, and non-breakup. The results indicate that the increase of the capillary number Ca provides considerable upstream pressure to accelerate the droplet deformation, which is favorable for the droplet breakup. The decrease of the droplet size contributes to its shape changing from the plug to the sphere, which results in weakening droplet deformation ability and generating the nonbreakup flow regime.  相似文献

Complete fusion excitation functions for 11,10B+159Tb and 6,7Li+159Tb have been reported at energies around the respective Coulomb barriers. The measurements show significant suppression of complete fusion cross-sections at energies above the barrier for 10B+159Tb and 6,7Li+159Tb reactions, when compared to those for 11B+159Tb. The comparison shows that the extent of suppression of complete fusion cross-sections is correlated with the α-separation energies of the projectiles. Also, the measured incomplete fusion cross-sections show that the α-particle emanating channel is the favoured incomplete fusion process. Inclusive measurement of the α-particles produced in 6Li+159Tb reaction has been carried out. Preliminary CDCC calculations carried out to estimate the α-yield following 6Li breaking up into α+d fail to explain the measured α-yield. Transfer processes seem to be important contributors.  相似文献

The availability of precisely measured fusion excitation functions have allowed the determination of experimental fusion barrier distributions. This concept is utilised in 9Be+208Pb reaction, to reliably predict the expected complete fusion cross-sections. However, the measured cross-sections are found to be only 68% of those predicted. The large cross-sections observed for incomplete fusion products support the interpretation that this suppression of fusion is caused by 9Be breaking up into charged fragments before reaching the fusion barrier.  相似文献

A study of the kinematics of the $ \alpha$ -d coincidences in the 6Li + 59Co system at a bombarding energy of E lab = 29.6 MeV is presented. With exclusive measurements performed over different angular intervals it is possible to identify the respective contributions of the sequential and direct projectile breakup components. The angular distributions of both breakup components are fairly well described by the Continuum-Discretized Coupled-Channels framework (CDCC). Furthermore, a careful analysis of these processes using a semiclassical approach provides information on both their lifetime and their distance of occurrence with respect to the target. Breakup to the low-lying (near-threshold) continuum is delayed, and happens at large internuclear distances. This suggests that the influence of the projectile breakup on the complete fusion process can be related essentially to the direct breakup to the 6Li high-lying continuum spectrum.  相似文献

The phenomenon of spiral breakup in a 2D and a 3D excitable medium is described. Differences between breakup in two dimensions and in three dimensions are discussed. Spiral breakup in an anatomical model of the ventricles of the heart is also studied. The patterns of excitation in the heart are presented at different wavelengths together with their electrocardiograms. The energy spectra and angular distributions of products in the reaction27Al(14N,X) have been measured at 116 MeV bombarding energy. It is shown that the energy spectra of the products lighter than the projectile, are well described by a three-body breakup calculation. The experimental total breakup cross-section estimated in the present work, together with Glas-Mosel calculation of the fusion cross-section, are in a reasonable agreement with the optical model total reaction cross-section.  相似文献

For a three-body model Hamiltonian, the scattering eigenfunction that corresponds to an incident deuteron is expanded in terms of eigenfunctions of the neutron-proton relative Hamiltonian, as suggested by Johnson and Soper. In this expansion, breakup is represented by an integral over the continuum of neutron-proton scattering states. Only states of zero relative angular momentum are included; the validity and advantages of this approximation are discussed. The continuum is divided into five discrete channels, whose coupling to each other and to the deuteron channel is treated by solving coupled differential equations with appropriate boundary conditions. It is found necessary to use a simple WKB method to take account of the long-range coupling among breakup channels; this method introduces potential matrices W and S that describe local and derivative coupling of the channels. The reaction of breakup on the elastic channel is neglected.The properties of W and S and the breakup wavefunction are examined for the case of 22.9 MeV deuterons incident on a target of mass number A ≈ 40. The Coulomb interaction is ignored, and a local Gaussian shape is used for both the real and imaginary parts of the nucleon-nucleus optical potential.It is found that a rather broad spectrum of n-p continuum states is excited, especially for low center-of-mass angular momentum. This result weakens the justification for the Johnson-Soper adiabatic theory, which emphasizes breakup into states of low relative energy.The breakup part of the wavefunction at zero n-p separation is comparable with the elastic part, but is important only over a surprisingly short range in the center-of-mass coordinate, with the result that breakup cross sections are quite small. Nevertheless, breakup produces major modifications of (d, p) cross sections. These modifications can to some extent be simulated by the Johnson-Soper method. The breakup wavefunctions show several interesting effects in their dependence on angular momentum and radius.  相似文献

We describe how the method of detection of delayed K x‐rays produced by the electron capture decay of the residual nuclei can be a powerful tool in the investigation of the effect of the breakup process on the complete fusion (CF) cross‐section of weakly bound nuclei at energies close to the Coulomb barrier. This is presently one of the most interesting subjects under investigation in the field of low‐energy nuclear reactions, and the difficult experimental task of separating CF from the incomplete fusion (ICF) of one of the breakup fragments can be achieved by the x‐ray spectrometry method. A DWBA formalism is presented for the quasi-free breakup of 3He into elastic, inelastic and particle-transfer channels. The model assumes that only a subset of the projectile interacts strongly with the target while the remaining fragment acts as a spectator. The full DWBA is reduced to a rather transparent quasi-free reaction mechanism. Distortion of the spectator wave function due to the Coulomb field of the target is included. Calculations of angular correlations and projected energy spectra resulting from processes involving the binary breakup of 3He on 28Si at E(3He) = 52 MeV are, apart from a normalization factor, in good agreement with the data.  相似文献

Theoretical predictions for the nucleon-induced deuteron breakup process based on solutions of the three-nucleon Faddeev equation including such relativistic features as the relativistic kinematics and boost effects are presented. Large changes of the breakup cross section in some complete configurations are found at higher energies. The predicted relativistic effects, which are mostly of dynamical origin, seem to be supported by existing data.  相似文献

Excitation functions for evaporation residues of the system 16O + 165Ho have been measured up to 100 MeV. Recoil range distribution of long lived reaction products were measured at 16O beam energy of 100 MeV. Detailed Monte Carlo simulation of recoil range distributions of products were performed with the help of PACE2 code, in order to extract the contributions of incomplete fusion in the individual channels. The results clearly show the incomplete fusion contributions in the tantalum and thulium products. This is confirmed by the predictions of breakup fusion model of the incomplete fusion.  相似文献

Three different types of experiments have been performed to explore the complete and incomplete fusion dynamics in heavy-ion collisions. In this respect, first experiment for the measurement of excitation functions of the evaporation residues produced in the 20Ne + 165Ho system at projectile energy ranges ≈2–8 MeV /nucleon has been done. Measured cumulative and direct cross-sections have been compared with the theoretical model code PACE-2, which takes into account only the complete fusion process. It has been observed that, incomplete fusion fraction is sensitively dependent on projectile energy and mass asymmetry between the projectile and the target systems. Second experiment for measuring the forward recoil range distributions of the evaporation residues produced in the 20Ne + 165Ho system at projectile energy ≈8 MeV /nucleon has been done. It has been observed that, some evaporation residues have shown additional peaks in the measured forwardrecoil range distributions at cumulative thicknesses relatively smaller than the expected range of the residues produced via complete fusion. The results indicate the occurrence of incomplete fusion involving the breakup of 20Ne into 4He + 16O and /or 8Be + 12C followed by one of the fragments with target nucleus 165Ho. Third experiment for the measurement of spin distribution of the evaporation residues produced in the 16O + 124Sn system at projectile energy ≈6 MeV /nucleon, showed that the residues produced as incomplete fusion products associated with fast α and 2 α-emission channels observed in the forward cone, are found to be distinctly different from those of the residues produced as complete fusion products. The spin distribution of the evaporation residues also inferred that in incomplete fusion reaction channels input angular momentum (J 0) increases with fusion incompleteness when compared to complete fusion reaction channels. Present observation clearly shows that the production of fast forward α-particles arises from relatively larger angular momentum in the entrance channel leading to peripheral collision.  相似文献

在Greenberg-Hasting元胞自动机模型中引入了正常元胞和老化元胞,并规定只有老化元胞存在早期后除极化现象且早期后除极化可以激发其他元胞.在正常元胞和老化元胞均匀分布的情况下,研究了早期后除极化对螺旋波演化行为的影响,重点探讨了早期后除极化导致的螺旋波破碎方式.数值模拟结果表明:早期后除极化在比率约为26.4%的少数情况下不对螺旋波产生影响,在其他情况下则会对螺旋波产生各种影响,包括使螺旋波漫游、漂移、波臂发生形变以及导致螺旋波破碎和消失等.观察到早期后除极化通过传导障碍消失和通过转变为反靶波消失,早期后除极化导致螺旋波破碎有8种方式,包括非对称破缺导致的破碎、对称破缺导致的破碎、同时激发双波导致的破碎、非对称激发导致的破碎、整体传导障碍导致的破碎、整体快速破碎等.分析发现这些螺旋波破碎现象都与早期后除极化产生回火波有关,得到螺旋波破碎的总比率通常约为13.8%,但是在适当选取老化元胞密度和早期后除极化的激发下,螺旋波破碎比率可达到32.4%,这些结果与心律失常致死的统计结果基本一致,本文对产生这些现象的物理机理做了简要分析.  相似文献

A model for substorm breakup is developed, based on (1) the relaxation of stretched (closed) dipolar field lines, and (2) the formation of an incipient current wedge within a single arc structure. It is argued that the establishment of a coupled current structure within a single arc leads to a quasistable system, i.e. the prebreakup regime. Perturbation of the prebreakup structure leads to an instability criterion. It is found, consistent with observations, that the narrower auroral arcs at lower L shells undergo the most explosive poleward expansion. According to this model, the precise location at which breakup occurs depends on the O+ density in the plasma sheet, the level of magnetic activity (Kp), and the intensity of the substorm westward electrojet in the ionosphere. An enhancement of any of these features will cause breakup to occur at lower L shells. Comparison of the proposed model with the Heppner-Maynard polar-cap potential model indicates that breakup is restricted to the west of the Harang discontinuity, consistent with observations from the Viking satellite  相似文献
