Following the studies on the effect of double bonds in the surfactant hydrophobic tail on the formation of mixed surfactant aggregates, we studied the viscosity and density of the system Sodium 10-undecenoate (SUD)–decyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB)–water. We found that the partial molar volume (pmv) and intrinsic viscosity of both, micellised and unmicellised mixtures, are non-ideal, dependent on the mixture composition and related to structural changes in micelles. These phenomena are caused by the presence of the double bond at the distal extreme of the SUD molecule, which has some affinity with water by formation of hydrogen bonds. In particular, as far as we know, this is the first report on non-ideal behavior of the pmv in mixed micelles.  相似文献

The mixed surfactant system sodium 10-undecenoate (SUD)-dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) was studied by computational simulation to determine the composition and structure of the mixed microstructures. Results were contrasted with experimental data obtained from literature and our own laboratory. The modelization predicts spherical or cylindrical micelles with a preferential composition of SUD-DTAB of about 1:2, while the system predicts a lamellar structure with a proportion of 1:1 when SUD is replaced by the saturated soap sodium undecanoate. The model also predicts the deep inclusion of bromide ions in the micelle Stern layer. All predictions were in agreement with previous experimental results.  相似文献

Micelle formation of dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) was examined in the presence of α,ω-alkanediols applying conductivity measurements. Octanediol and hexanediol promoted the formation of mixed micelles of DTAB and the alcohol, but butanediol interfered with micellization. Analysis of the critical micelle concentration (cmc) based on the lattice model for mixed solution with the Bragg–Williams approximation indicated an unfavorable interaction between alcohol and water and a favorable interaction between the alcohol and surfactant, with the exception of butanediol. The exchange energy between alcohol and water was 0.5kT higher for alkanediol (C2n(OH)2) than for the corresponding regular alcohol (CnOH), which is believed to have resulted from the smaller mixing entropy for the alkanediol than for the corresponding regular alcohol. It was inferred from the analysis that the cmc increase for C4(OH)2 was caused by favorable interaction with water but unfavorable interaction with the micellar surfactant.  相似文献

The ion–dipole interaction between dodecyltrimethylammonium cations and nonionic surfactant molecules in adsorbed films and micelles was investigated by concentrating on the difference in the degree of counterion binding by employing dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride (DTAC)–octyl methyl sulfoxide (OMS) and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB)–OMS mixtures. The phase diagrams of adsorption and micelle formation were constructed and then the nonideal mixing of different species of surfactants was demonstrated in terms of the excess Gibbs free energies of adsorption and micelle formation, and the surface excess areas. Furthermore the dependence of them on the counterion was clearly shown. All these results were found to support our previous view that the direct interaction between surfactant cation and the dipole of the hydrophilic part of a nonionic surfactant is essential in cationic-nonionic surfactant mixtures, i.e., the DTAC system with a lower counterion biding has more negative excess thermodynamic quantities than the DTAB system with a higher one.  相似文献

The physicochemical properties of the, - type (bolaform) surfactant, eicosane-1, 20-bis(triethylammonium bromide) (C20Et6), in aqueous solution have been investigated by means of surface tension, electrical conductivity, dye solubilization, and time-resolved fluorescence quenching (determination of average micelle aggregation number). Using electrical conductivity, the critical micelle concentration of C20Et6 was found to be 6.0×10–3 mol dm–3 and the ionization degree of C20Et6 micelle was found to be 0.42. From surface tension measurments, the molecular area of C20Et6 at the air-water interface was about twice that of normal type surfactants such as dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB). The solubilizing power of micellar solution of C20Et6 toward Orange OT was 1.0×10–2 mole of dye per mole of surfactant, i. e., slightly smaller than that of DTAB. The micelle aggregation number,N, was found to be 17±2 by time-resolved fluorescence quenching. C20Et6 showed a very small temperature dependence ofN, much less than for normal surfactants.  相似文献

Surface tensions of aqueous solution of eicosapolyenoic acids (EA) with 25 double bonds were measured by use of a Du Nöuy tensiometer at pH 7.80 and 25°C, and the effects of double bond on the surface properties of EA were investigated. The value of critical micelle concentration of EA increased twofold with increasing number of double bonds. The free energy for the adsorption per double bond at the air-water interface was estimated as 2.47 kJ (double bond)–1, and the negative value of free energy for the adsorption of EA molecule decreased with increasing number of double bonds.  相似文献

This work reports a novel method for the reduction of sulfoxides with silanes catalyzed by high valent oxo-rhenium(V) and (VII) complexes. The catalytic system PhSiH3/ReIO2(PPh3)2 (1 mol %) proved to be highly efficient for the reduction of a wide range of sulfoxides in excellent yields under mild conditions. This novel methodology is also highly chemoselective, tolerating several functional groups such as –CHO, –CO2R, –Cl, –NO2, and double or triple bonds.  相似文献

The conductances of trimethyltetradecylammonium bromide (TTAB) + trimethylhexa decylammonium bromide (HTAB) and TTAB + trimethyldodecylammonium bromide (DTAB) mixtures over the entire mole fraction range were measured in aqueous poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) containing 1–10 wt% PVP at 30 °C. Each conductivity (κ) curve for the TTAB + HTAB mixtures showed two breaks corresponding to two aggregation processes over the whole mole fraction range, except in the case of pure TTAB, where a single break corresponding to the conventional critical micelle concentration (cmc) was observed. In the case of TTAB + DTAB mixtures, each κ curve at a particular mole fraction of TTAB showed only one break, which was quite close to a similar one in pure water. In TTAB + HTAB mixtures, the first break is called the critical aggregation concentration. It is close to the conventional cmc and is attributed to the polymer-free micelle formation, whereas the second break is due to the polymer-bound micellar aggregates. However, no polymer-bound micellar aggregation process was observed in the case of TTAB + DTAB mixtures. Therefore, the presence of micelle–PVP interactions in the TTAB + HTAB case have been attributed to the stronger hydrophobicity of HTAB or TTAB + HTAB micelles in comparison to that of single or mixed micelles of TTAB + DTAB mixtures. From the conductivity data, various micelle parameters in the presence of PVP have been computed and discussed in terms of micelle–polymer interactions. The mixing behavior of TTAB +  HTAB corresponding to the first break, and that of TTAB + DTAB mixtures in the presence of PVP, is close to ideal and is also identical to that in pure water. Tunnel-exchange states of a tetrameric mixed-valence (MV) d1–d1–d1–d2 cluster are considered. Energy levels of distorted pseudotetrahedral conjiprations with rhombic and trigonal symmetry are calculated. It is demonstrated that the correlation diagrams of planar systems are symmetric with respect to the sign of the double exchange parameter. A strong double exchange always results in the ferromagnetic ground state of planar systems. The following types of spectrum defamations of the d1–d1–d1–d2 tetramer from tetrahedral to planar systems have been found: a) with a weak positive double exchange, deformation of a tetrahedral system does not lead to any change of spin of the antiferromagnetic ground state of the cluster; b) with a strong positive double exchange, the defonnation alters the antiferromagnetic ground (S = 1/2) state of the tetrahedral system to the ferromagnetic (S = 5/2) state of the planar system, or to an intermediate (S = 3/2) state; c) with a negative double exchange, irrespective of its absolute value, the tetrahedral system deformation does not alter the spin of the ground state. With a weak double exchange, this ground state remains antiferromagnetic, and with a strong double exchange, it is ferromagnetic or intermediate.Moldova State University. The structure and dynamics of a catanionic vesicle are studied by means of femtosecond up‐conversion and dynamic light scattering (DLS). The catanionic vesicle is composed of dodecyl‐trimethyl‐ammonium bromide (DTAB) and sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS). The DLS data suggest that 90 % of the vesicles have a diameter of about 400 nm, whereas the diameter of the other 10 % is about 50 nm. The dynamics in the catanionic vesicle are compared with those in pure SDS and DTAB micelles. We also study the dynamics in different regions of the micelle/vesicle by varying the excitation wavelength (λex) from 375 to 435 nm. The catanionic vesicle is found to be more heterogeneous than the SDS or DTAB micelles, and hence, the λex‐dependent variation of the solvation dynamics is more prominent in the first case. The solvation dynamics in the vesicle and the micelles display an ultraslow component (2 and 300 ps, respectively), which arises from the quasibound, confined water inside the micelle, and an ultrafast component (<0.3 ps), which is due to quasifree water at the surface/exposed region. With an increase in λex, the solvation dynamics become faster. This is manifested in a decrease in the total dynamic solvent shift and an increase in the contribution of the ultrafast component (<0.3 ps). At a long λex (435 nm), the surface (exposed region) of a micelle/vesicle is probed, where the solvation dynamics of the water molecules are faster than those in a buried location of the vesicle and the micelles. The time constant of anisotropy decay becomes longer with increasing λex, in both the catanionic vesicle and the ordinary micelles (SDS and DTAB). The slow rotational dynamics (anisotropy decay) in the polar region (at long λex) may be due to the presence of ionic head groups and counter ions.  相似文献

Critical micelle concentrations were determined by conductance measurements for decyl-, dodecyl-, tetradecyl- and hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide in water at 25, 60, 95, 130, and 160°C. The results are discussed in terms of the equilibrium model and the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann model for micelle formation. The free energies of transferring a methylene group from water to the oil-like interior of the micelle are found to be –781 at 25°C, –796 at 60°C, –819 at 95°C, –815 at 130°C, and –787 at 160°C cal-mol–1.  相似文献

Pyrazolines are characterized by valence vibrations at the following frequencies: C=N (1580–1627 cm–1), H-C3=N (3040–3063 cm–1), H-N (3270–3305 cm–1) and CH3-N (2780–2805 cm–1). Lowering of the frequencies of the valence vibrations of C=N in pyrazolines, when compared with the magnitudes characteristic of alkyledene amines and oximes, is regarded as a consequence of coupling with the unshared electron pair of the neighboring nitrogen atom. By means of the IR spectra, it is possible to determine the position of the double bonds in the pyrazoline ring, to distinguish between pyrazolines substituted and nonsubstituted in positions 1 and 3, and to establish the presence of geminate (twin) methyl groups and methyl groups in position 1.  相似文献

Sodium oleate (NaOL, C18H33O2Na)–sodium linoleate (NaLin, C18H31O2Na) mixtures were studied in the micellar and in the air/water interface states at 298.15 K. Three aggregation steps were found: a premicellar aggregation, the critical micelle concentration (CMC), and a structural change of micelles. Micelles, both at the CMC and at the structural change concentration, are richer in oleate than the overall mixture composition. Micelles are strongly non-ideal and the interaction is repulsive. The non-ideal behavior and the dependence of the micelle ionization degree with micelle composition are explained on the basis of the interaction of the π electrons of the surfactants’ chains with water at the hydrocarbon/water micellar interface. The air/solution adsorbed monolayer is also non-ideal, but the interaction is attractive and there is a preferential composition with a mole fraction of sodium oleate of about 0.7. The surface pseudophase behaves as if oleate were the solvent and linoleate a strongly soluble solute. This behavior and the dependence of the average area per adsorbed molecule were explained on the basis of the interaction of the double bonds with water. At the air/solution interface, the linoleate molecule area was similar to that of a heterogemini surfactant having a spacer with seven carbon atoms.  相似文献

Summary 1. It has been established that the epoxidation of cembrene with perbenzoic and peracetic acids takes place stereospecifically at each of the trisubstituted double bonds with the formation of 4S,5R-, 7S,8S-, and 11S,12S-monoepoxycembrenes, the structures and absolute configurations of which have been established by spectral methods.2. Epoxidation of cembrene at the C11–C12 double bonds under the conditions used takes place preferentially as compared with epoxidation at the C7–C8 double bond.Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry, Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.  The aqueous catanionic system dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB)–disodiumdodecanephosphonate (DSDP) was studied by potentiometry, conductivity, surface tension, spectrometry and dye solubilization. No precipitation of neutral salts was found in the entire range of compositions studied. Up to four transitions were detected. The first transition, at about 0.001 mol dm−3, was probably related to a state change in the adsorption monolayer at the air/water interface. The second, at about 0.0065 mol dm−3, was probably related to the formation of ion pairs. The third transition was the critical micelle concentration which was analyzed with the pseudophase separation model and regular solution theory. The interaction between DTAB and DSDP molecules in micelles was weaker than in other cationic–anionic surfactant mixed micelles. Large, probably rodlike, micelles formed at the fourth transition at higher surfactant concentration. No vesicles or lamellar liquid crystals were detected. The adsorbed monolayer at the air/water interface was also studied by means of regular solution theory. It was much richer in DTAB than the micelles and the intermicellar solution. The interaction between DTAB and DSDP molecules at the air/water interface was very low. The results were explained on the basis of steric factors. In this work, from the discussion on water structure and clusters, it can be deduced that the OH stretching vibration is closely related to local hydrogen-bonded network for a water molecule, and different OH vibrations can be assigned to OH groups engaged in various hydrogen bonding. At ambient condition, the main local hydrogen bonding for a molecule can be classified as DDAA (double donor–double acceptor), DDA (double donor–single acceptor), DAA (single donor–double acceptor) and DA (single donor–single acceptor) and free OH vibrations. As for water at 290 K and 0.1 MPa pressure, the OH stretching region of the Raman spectrum can be deconvoluted into five sub-bands, which are located at 3014, 3226, 3432, 3572, and 3636 cm−1, and can be assigned to νDAA-OH, νDDAA-OH, νDA-OH, νDDA-OH, and free OH2 symmetric stretching vibrations, respectively.  相似文献

To evaluate the effect of preferential surface adsorption of bromide ions on the synergism of homologous cationic surfactant mixtures reported previously, the surface tension of the aqueous solutions of the hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (HTAC)-dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) system was measured as a function of the total molality of surfactants and the relative proportion of DTAB at 298.15 +/- 0.05 K under atmospheric pressure. The excess Gibbs energies calculated from them were -2.6 kJ mol(-)(1) in the mixed adsorbed film and -2.0 kJ mol(-)(1) in the mixed micelle, respectively. A useful analytical procedure to evaluate the composition of individual ions (hexadecyltrimethylammonium, dodecyltrimethylammonium, chloride, and bromide ions) in the adsorbed film and micelle was developed and applied.  相似文献

Two fluorescent molecular sensors CS1 and CS2 were designed and synthesized to probe the aggregate behavior of anionic surfactant SDS. CS1 was based on the photo-induced electron transfer (PET) mechanism, while CS2 was founded on the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) mechanism. The photophysical properties of CS1–2 in anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) solution were studied by fluorescence and UV–vis methods. The experimental results show that significant absorption and emission spectral responses of CS1 were observed with the addition of SDS: the absorbance and fluorescence intensity decreased first and then increased. The plot of fluorescence intensity of CS1 versus SDS concentration showed two break points, which might be ascribed to the critical micellar concentration (cmc) and the formation of premicelle (cac) aggregate, respectively. But the solution’s color of CS2 changed from yellow to red with increasing SDS concentrations. The large red-shift in both absorption (50 nm) and emission (55 nm) spectra of CS2 was resulted from the protonation of the electron accepting moiety (NC nitrogen), which enhanced the “push–pull” interaction of the ICT fluorophore. This was facilitated by the increase of local H+ concentration around SDS premicelle and micelle. As a consequence, pKa values of CS1 and CS2 were elevated in SDS micelle.  相似文献

Conclusions The preparative catalytic cyclopropanation of unsaturated hydrocarbons with diazoethane has been achieved for the first time. Addition of the ethylidene fragment to the C=C double bond occurs in a nonstereoselective manner and leads to the formation of the corresponding methylcyclopropanes in 55–70% total yields. In the presence of CuCl, all double bonds of unsaturated hydrocarbons are cyclopropanated with equal facility, whereas in the presence of (PhCN)2PdCl2, preferential regioselective cyclopropanation of strained endocyclic and terminal double bonds is observed, just as was true in the case of reactions with diazomethane. For Communication No. 4, see [1].Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 6, pp. 1338–1343, June, 1987.  相似文献

Summary. Three new complexes, namely [(nicotinic acid)2H]+I, [(2-amino-6-methylpyridine)H]+ (NO3), and the 1:1 complex between 1-isoquinoline carboxylic acid (zwitter ion form) and L-ascorbic acid were synthesized. The IR spectra revealed different types of hydrogen bonds in these compounds. The X-ray structure determination has shown the first compound to consist of a packing of [(nicotinic acid)2H]+ cations and I anions. In the dimeric cation the two nicotinic acid molecules (zwitter ions) are connected through hydrogen bonds (O–HO). Each dimer is further engaged in other hydrogen bonds with adjacent dimers giving 2D layers. The I ion is located at the inversion center. In the second compound the cation and anion are connected via hydrogen bonds formed between oxygen atoms of the NO3 anion and NH and NH2 of the cation generating a layer structure. All atoms are coplanar on mirror planes. In the 1:1 complex the two molecules are connected through hydrogen bonds formed between the two oxygen atoms of the carboxylate group of 1-isoquinoline carboxylic acid (zwitter ion) and the oxygen atoms of the two adjacent hydrogen groups of the L-ascorbic acid molecule. These complex molecules are engaged in other hydrogen bonds with each other forming a 2D system normal to the long b-axis of the unit cell.  相似文献
