In this paper we consider the single machine scheduling problems with exponential sum-of-logarithm-processing-times based learning effect. By the exponential sum-of-logarithm-processing-times based learning effect, we mean that the processing time of a job is defined by an exponent function of the sum of the logarithm of the processing times of the jobs already processed. We consider the following objective functions: the makespan, the total completion time, the sum of the quadratic job completion times, the total weighted completion time and the maximum lateness. We show that the makespan minimization problem, the total completion time minimization problem and the sum of the quadratic job completion times minimization problem can be solved by the smallest (normal) processing time first (SPT) rule, respectively. We also show that the total weighted completion time minimization problem and the maximum lateness minimization problem can be solved in polynomial time under certain conditions.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the scheduling problem with a general exponential learning effect and past-sequence-dependent (p-s-d) setup times. By the general exponential learning effect, we mean that the processing time of a job is defined by an exponent function of the total weighted normal processing time of the already processed jobs and its position in a sequence, where the weight is a position-dependent weight. The setup times are proportional to the length of the already processed jobs. We consider the following objective functions: the makespan, the total completion time, the sum of the δ ? 0th power of completion times, the total weighted completion time and the maximum lateness. 相似文献

In this paper, we consider the single machine scheduling problems with an actual time-dependent deterioration effect. By the actual time-dependent deterioration effect, we mean that the processing time of a job is defined by increasing function of total actual processing time of jobs in front of it in the sequence. We show that even with the introduction of an actual time-dependent deterioration to job processing times, makespan minimization problem, total completion time minimization problem, the total lateness, and the sum of the quadratic job completion times minimization problem remain polynomially solvable, respectively. We also show that the total weighted completion time minimization problem, the discounted total weighted completion time minimization problem, the maximum lateness minimization problem, and the total tardiness minimization problem can be solved in polynomial time under certain conditions.  相似文献

The paper deals with single machine scheduling problems with setup time considerations where the actual processing time of a job is not only a non-decreasing function of the total normal processing times of the jobs already processed, but also a non-increasing function of the job’s position in the sequence. The setup times are proportional to the length of the already processed jobs, i.e., the setup times are past-sequence-dependent (p-s-d). We consider the following objective functions: the makespan, the total completion time, the sum of the δth (δ ≥ 0) power of job completion times, the total weighted completion time and the maximum lateness. We show that the makespan minimization problem, the total completion time minimization problem and the sum of the δ th (δ ≥ 0) power of job completion times minimization problem can be solved by the smallest (normal) processing time first (SPT) rule, respectively. We also show that the total weighted completion time minimization problem and the maximum lateness minimization problem can be solved in polynomial time under certain conditions.  相似文献

Single-machine scheduling with both deterioration and learning effects   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper considers a single-machine scheduling problem with both deterioration and learning effects. The objectives are to respectively minimize the makespan, the total completion times, the sum of weighted completion times, the sum of the kth power of the job completion times, the maximum lateness, the total absolute differences in completion times and the sum of earliness, tardiness and common due-date penalties. Several polynomial time algorithms are proposed to optimally solve the problem with the above objectives.  相似文献

In this paper, we bring into the scheduling field a general learning effect model where the actual processing time of a job is not only a general function of the total actual processing times of the jobs already processed, but also a general function of the job’s scheduled position. We show that the makespan minimization problem and the sum of the kth power of completion times minimization problem can be solved in polynomial time, respectively. We also show that the total weighted completion time minimization problem and the maximum lateness minimization problem can be solved in polynomial time under certain conditions.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the single-machine scheduling problems with both learning and deterioration effects. By the effects of learning and deterioration, we mean that job processing times are defined by functions of their starting times and positions in the sequence. It is shown that even with the introduction of learning effect and deteriorating jobs to job processing times, single-machine makespan minimization problem and the sum of the θth power of job completion times minimization problem remain polynomially solvable, respectively. But for the following objective functions: the weighted sum of completion times and the maximum lateness, this paper proves that the WSPT rule and the EDD rule can construct the optimal sequence under some special cases, respectively.  相似文献

We consider parallel-machine job scheduling problems with precedence constraints. Job processing times are variable and depend on positions of jobs in a schedule. The objective is to minimize the maximum completion time or the total weighted completion time. We specify certain conditions under which the problem can be solved by scheduling algorithms applied earlier for fixed job processing times.  相似文献

In this paper we study some single-machine scheduling problems with learning effects where the actual processing time of a job serves as a function of the total actual processing times of the jobs already processed and of its scheduled position. We show by examples that the optimal schedules for the classical version of problems are not optimal under this actual time and position dependent learning effect model for the following objectives: makespan, sum of kth power of the completion times, total weighted completion times, maximum lateness and number of tardy jobs. But under certain conditions, we show that the shortest processing time (SPT) rule, the weighted shortest processing time (WSPT) rule, the earliest due date (EDD) rule and the modified Moore’s Algorithm can also construct an optimal schedule for the problem of minimizing these objective functions, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a single machine scheduling problem with deteriorating jobs. By deteriorating jobs, we mean that the processing time of a job is a simple linear function of its execution starting time. For the jobs with chain precedence constraints, we prove that the weighted sum of squared completion times minimization problem with strong chains and weak chains can be solved in polynomial time, respectively.  相似文献

Surrogate duality bounds for the job shop scheduling problem are obtained by replacing certain constraints by their weighted sum and strengthening the aggregate constraint by iterating over all possible weights. The constraints successively considered for this purpose are the capacity constraints on the machines and the precedence constraints determining the machine order for each job. The resulting relaxations are investigated from a theoretical and a computational point of view.  相似文献

This paper studies the single machine past-sequence-dependent (p-s-d) delivery times scheduling with general position-dependent and time-dependent learning effects. By the general position-dependent and time-dependent learning effects we mean that the actual processing time of a job is not only a function of the total normal processing times of the jobs already processed, but also a function of the job’s scheduled position. We consider the following objective functions: the makespan, the total completion time, the sum of the θθth (θ?0θ?0) power of job completion times, the total lateness, the total weighted completion time, the maximum lateness, the maximum tardiness and the number of tardy jobs. We show that the problems of minimization of the makespan, the total completion time, the sum of the θθth (θ?0θ?0) power of job completion times and the total lateness can be solved by the smallest (normal) processing time first (SPT) rule, respectively. We also show that the total weighted completion time minimization problem, the discounted total weighted completion time minimization problem, the maximum lateness minimization problem, the maximum tardiness minimization problem and the total tardiness minimization problem can be solved in polynomial time under certain conditions.  相似文献

We use genetic programming to find variants of the well-known Nawaz, En-score and Ham (NEH) heuristic for the permutation flow shop problem. Each variant uses a different ranking function to prioritize operations during schedule construction. We have tested our ideas on problems where jobs have release times, due dates, and weights and have considered five objective functions: makespan, sum of tardiness, sum of weighted tardiness, sum of completion times and sum of weighted completion times. The implemented genetic programming system has been carefully tuned and used to generate one variant of NEH for each objective function. The new NEHs, obtained with genetic programming, have been compared with the original NEH and randomized NEH versions on a large set of benchmark problems. Our results indicate that the NEH variants discovered by genetic programming are superior to the original NEH and its stochastic version on most of the problems investigated.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a generalized version of the classical preemptive open shop problem with sum of weighted job completion times objective. The main result is a (2+)-approximation algorithm for this problem. In the last section we also discuss the possibility of improving our algorithm.  相似文献

A bi-criteria group scheduling problem in a flow shop with sequence-dependent setup time is investigated in this paper. Manufacturing cell and flow shop are two popular scenarios in industry. Dynamic job releases and machine availabilities are assumed. The goal is to minimize the weighted sum of total weighted completion time and total weighted tardiness, which are aimed at satisfying the producer and customer goals separately. Normalized weights are assigned to both criteria to describe the trade-off between the two objectives. Two different initial solution finding mechanisms are proposed, and a tabu-search-based two-level search algorithm is deve1loped to find optimal/near-optimal solutions for the problem. A mathematical model is also developed and implemented to evaluate the optimality of the results from search algorithms for small problem instances. To further uncover the difference in performance of initial solutions and algorithms, an experimental design is performed and results are reported.  相似文献
