The Mössbauer spectra of (Fe, Co)S1 + x were recorded at room temperature and 4.2 K for samples of varying composition to study the magnetic behaviour of the solid solutions. The Mössbauer spectra are split magnetically at iron concentrations above 16% Fe. For samples with less than 16%Fe, the Mössbauer spectra show no evidence of magnetic splitting down to 4.2 K. The room temperature centre shift data appear to vary continuously with composition and the hyperfine magnetic field decreases with decreasing Fe2+ concentration. A Mössbauer spectrum of 57Fe:CoS at 4.2 K in an external field of 25 kOe showed no evidence of magnetic splitting beyond that caused by the applied field, indicating a net zero internal field.A high spin to low spin transition in Fe2+ is ruled out as being responsible for the observed magnetic behaviour on the basis of the centre shift data. The Mössbauer data are interpreted to indicate a substantial increase in electron delocalization towards the ligands as the 〈M-S〉 distance decreases with decreasing Fe2+concentration. This causes a reduction in the magnitude of the internal magnetic field contributions as well as a decrease of shielding of the nucleus, giving rise to the observed Mössbauer parameters. The Mössbauer spectrum of 57Fe:CoS at room temperature is compared with the spectrum of FeS above the 6.7 GPa phase transition at room temperature. The similarities of the centre shift and the 〈M-S〉 distance in the two phases indicate that covalency may also be responsible for the observed high pressure behaviour of FeS, and not the presence of Fe3+ as was originally suggested.  相似文献

Mössbauer effect of Fe57 embedded as very dilute substitutional impurities in Pd2MnSn was studied. The impurities are seen to replace the three elements in the alloy. Although the Curie temperature of the alloy is 189K, well below the room temperature, the Mössbauer spectrum recorded at room temperature consisted of two distinct 6-finger magnetic hyperfine spectra and a single unsplit line. One of the 6-finger patterns which corresponds to an internal magnetic field ofH int=?375 kOe is inferred to arise due to local magnetic coupling of the localized magnetic moments of Fe impurities at the Pd sites with those of the 4 Mn first nearest neighbours of the Fe impurities. The other 6-finger pattern which corresponds to an internal magnetic field ofH int=?335 kOe is inferred to arise due to the local magnetic coupling of the localized magnetic moments of the Fe impurities at the Sn sites with those of the 6 Mn second nearest neighboours of the Fe impurities. The difference in the internal magnetic fields observed at the Pd and Sn sites in the alloy could be understood qualitatively, on the basis of RKKY theory, as arising due to the different conduction electron polarization contributions to the net internal magnetic field at the Fe impurity sites. The results of the measurements suggest that the localized magnetic moments of Fe57 impurities at Pd and Sn sites are antiferromagnetically coupled with the moments of their neighbouring Mn atoms.  相似文献

A unified phenomenological model of the magnetic dynamic of an ensemble of nanoparticles of different magnetic nature is developed. The model can be applied to the numerical analysis of Mössbauer spectra as functions of the temperature and external field. The model allows us to describe nonstandard features of the temperature evolution of the spectrum shape, particularly the macroscopic quantum effects often observed in the spectra of 57Fe nuclei in antiferromagnetic nanoparticles.  相似文献

The solid state solutions of europium transition element oxides Eu (Fe0.8M0.2)O3 (M=Sc,Cr,Mn,Co) are synthesized. The X-ray diffraction of the compound shows that all the compounds possess the perovskite structures. Both the151Eu Mössbauer spectra and the57Fe Mössbauer spectra are measured. The hyperfine magnetic field and non-axisymmetric electric field gradient are observed in the151Eu Mössbauer spectrum. The57Fe Mössbauer spectrum shows that there are four components of hyperfine fields corresponding to four kinds of different neighbours of the Fe ion.  相似文献

Mössbauer measurements in 57Fe in dilute FeCr alloys in external magnetic fields up to 140 kOe are presented. The magnetic hyperfine interactions are compared with results obtained by Herbert, Clark and Wilson and are discussed in terms of a model due to Housley and Dash.  相似文献

The magnetic hyperfine field at an Fe site in the ferromagnetic alloy Fe0.475Co0.525 was measured using the Mössbauer effect. The value obtained at room temperature was 343 kOe. The hyperfine field at a substituted Cd impurity was measured by the method of time differential perturbed angular correlations. A single frequency was observed at room temperature, corresponding to a field of -177 kOe. Using the Mössbauer effect, the Sn site hyperfine field was measured in a sample in which 0.3 atomic percent of 119Sn had been substituted. The room temperature spectrum consisted of the superposition of a single line, together with a six-line hyperfine spectrum, corresponding to a field of 231 kOe. A phenomenological interpretation is proposed for Fe, Cd and Sn fields in the binary alloys of iron.  相似文献

Radio-frequency (rf) magnetic modulation has been used to generate sidebands in57Fe Mössbauer spectra of Fe0.18Ni0.82 Permalloy foils which have the smallest constant of magnetostriction among Fe?Ni alloys. Sidebands in Mössbauer spectra were observed at 30 MHz and 55 MHz. In addition to the generation of sidebands, the external rf magnetic field was found to alter the line positions of the original six line spectrum. An attempt was made to study acoustic vibrations in the foil by means of X-ray diffraction. The rf magnetic field caused changes in diffraction peak intensities and positions. It was found that X-ray diffraction can be used to study the amplitude of acoustic vibrations in Permalloy foils.  相似文献

The magnetization process of Fe and Nd layers at 5K in Fe/Nd multilayered films with strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is elucidated from a comparison of57Fe Mössbauer spectra in the presence of the external field applied parallel to the film plane with total magnetization. At zero external field, the film has a magnetic multi-domain structure. The Nd layer moment is perpendicular to the film plane and the Fe layer moment points in the out-of-plane direction. The Fe layer moment monotonically rotates to the in-plane direction with increasing external field parallel to the film plane, while the Nd layer moment is oriented to the film normal direction up to the external field of 10kOe, above which the Nd layer moment gradually turns to the direction of the external field.  相似文献

The hyperfine field distribution has been measured for Fe - 28 per cent Ni - 3 per cent C alloy at 22 K with a longitudinal external field. Relative Mössbauer line intensities indicate that the effective hyperfine field at Fe57 nuclei lower than 30–40 kOe tends to align perpendicular with a 50 kOe external field which is explicable only by the model of coexistence of antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic Fe states.  相似文献

Mössbauer reflectivity spectra and nuclear resonance reflectivity (NRR) curves have been measured using the Synchrotron Mössbauer Source (SMS) for a [57Fe/Cr]30 periodic multilayer, characterized by the antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling between adjacent 57Fe layers. Specific features of the Mössbauer reflectivity spectra measured with π‐polarized radiation of the SMS near the critical angle and at the `magnetic' maximum on the NRR curve are analyzed. The variation of the ratio of lines in the Mössbauer reflectivity spectra and the change of the intensity of the `magnetic' maximum under an applied external field has been used to reveal the transformation of the magnetic alignment in the investigated multilayer.  相似文献

The crystal and magnetic properties of Dy2Fe17, Dy6Fe23, DyFe3 and DyFe2 intermetallic compounds are investigated with X-ray, magnetometric, 57Fe and 161Dy Mössbauer effect methods. The X-ray analysis shows that investigated compounds are single phases with Th2Ni17, Th6Mn23, PuNi3 and NgCu2 type crystal structures, respectively. The magnetometric measurements prove their ferrimagnetic behaviour, localization of Fe magnetic moments and long range Fe-Fe exchange magnetic interactions. The crystal field effects induce magnetic anisotropy which results in local magnetic symmetry or iron atoms lower than the crystal one. This is observed by the Mössbauer effect method. The values of 161Dy hyperfine magnetic fields measured for investigated compounds exceed that found in metallic dysprosium due to polarization of conduction electrons by 3d-electrons of iron atoms. The weighted average value of 57Fe hyperfine magnetic field decreases with the increase of Dy content in the compounds.  相似文献

Magnetic and Mössbauer studies have been carried out on a series of ternary borides RFe4B (R = Er, Tm, Lu) which have the hexagonal CeCo4B type structure. These compounds are found to be magnetically ordered at room temperature. Magnetization studies in the temperature range from 5 to 300 K reveal the presence of compensation temperatures in Er and Tm compounds and indicate antiferromagnetic coupling between the rare earth and Fe moments. Room temperature 57Fe Mössbauer studies yield values of hyperfine fields at the two Fe sites as 246 and 185 kOe in ErFe4B and TmFe4B, and 204 and 145 kOe in LuFe4B. The 166Er Mössbauer studies give nearly free-ion hyperfine field at the Er sites which indicates that the exchange interaction in ErFe4B is much stronger than crystal field interaction.  相似文献

Nowadays, nanoparticles of maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) represent one of the most useful materials in modern advanced nanotechnological applications due to their superior magnetic properties. For their characterization,57Fe zero-field and in-field Mössbauer spectroscopy have proved themselves to be very powerful and effective tools which are crucial for an investigation of the local surrounding of iron atoms and observation of dynamic effects. The structural and magnetic characteristics of maghemite and its nanoparticles are thus discussed with regard to their zero-field and in-field Mössbauer spectra recorded at various temperatures and applied external magnetic fields. In addition, a special attention is also devoted to remarkable physical phenomena (superparamagnetism, spin canting) occurring largely in maghemite nanosized particles.  相似文献

The transferred hyperfine fields at 119Sn, using Mössbauer spectroscopy are reported for the hexagonal B-35 compounds with a general formula Fe1?xMxSn, where MMn, Co and Ni. In these compounds, Sn atoms occupy two crystallographically inequivalent sites. For FeSn the observed spectrum consists of a quadrupole doublet and a magnetic pattern corresponding to 2(d) and 2(a) sites respectively. The data have been analysed to resolve the controversy regarding hyperfine parameters. On replacing Fe by Mn atoms, additional lines appear in the higher velocity region of the Mössbauer spectrum and the intensity of the nuclear Zeeman pattern increases at the expense of quadrupole doublet. The resulting Mössbauer spectra have been analysed by taking only the nearest neighbour interactions into account. This analysis shows that on replacing each Fe atom by a Mn atom, the hyperfine field at 1(a) Sn site increases by about 40 kOe and a field of about 35 kOe is produced at the 2(d) Sn sites. Further, from the nuclear Zeeman pattern for 2(d) sites, the sign of quadropole splitting for these sites could also be determined and was found to be positive. However, the substitution of Co and Ni in place of Fe atoms results in a broad unresolved pattern suggesting that the hyperfine field at the 1(a) sites decreases and a finite field develops at the 2(d) site. The origin of transferred hyperfine fields at the two inequivalent Sn sites is discussed, the magnetic transition temperatures of these compounds have been estimated and the magnetic moments of M-atoms have been inferred.  相似文献

A high-pressure 57Fe Mössbauer study of SrFeO3 up to 74 GPa has been performed with diamond-anvil-cell (DAC) using synchrotron radiation and a radioactive point source of 57Co in Rh. SrFeO3 is known as a typical cubic perovskite with a high-valence state of Fe4+ and shows metallic conductivity at 0.1 MPa down to 4.2 K. Applying an external high pressure, SrFeO3 has not shown any structural transformation up to 74 GPa keeping an Fe4+ state but the Néel temperature increases up to 300 K at 18 GPa. The external high pressure may induce the ferromagnetism in SrFeO3 by a decrease of the interatomic distance of Fe or an increase of the d-band width. 57Fe Mössbauer measurements under externally applied longitudinal magnetic field using radioactive 57Co in Rh source and also nuclear forward scattering measurements with a linearly polarized synchrotron radiation under external magnetic field indicate the existence of the pressure induced ferromagnetism in SrFeO3. In this work we compare high-pressure Mössbauer spectroscopy using synchrotron and radioactive sources and summarize the advantages and disadvantages of each method.  相似文献

Stress field and magnetic field annealed FINEMET ribbons were investigated by 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy, magnetic and XRD methods. The change in relative areas of the 2nd and 5th lines in the Mössbauer spectra indicated significant variation in magnetic anisotropy due to the different annealing. High velocity resolution Mössbauer spectroscopy was also used to control the model applied for the evaluation of Mössbauer spectra. A correlation was found between the permeability and the magnetic anisotropy of the annealed FINEMET samples. This can be applied to predict production parameters of FINEMET ribbons with more favorable soft magnetic properties for technological applications.  相似文献

The results from 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopic studies of multiferroic BiFeO3 in a range of tem-peratures including that of the magnetic phase transition are presented. The Mössbauer spectra are processed and analyzed by reconstructing the hyperfine magnetic field distributions and interpreting the spectra with a cycloid-type spatial spin-modulated structure model. The temperature dependences of the hyperfine spectrum parameters (the Mössbauer line shift, the quadrupole shift, and the isotropic and anisotropic contributions to the hyperfine magnetic field) are obtained, along with the anharmonicity parameter of an incommensurate spin wave.  相似文献

The Mössbauer technique was used to measure the hyperfine magnetic field and isomer shift of57Fe nucleus in the ordered and disordered Fe3Al alloys. The Mössbauer spectra were analyzed to yeld the hyperfine magnetic field distribution curves. A linear correlation has been revealed between the average hyperfine field and the average number of Al atoms in the first two nearest neighbour shells of57Fe nucleus,N Al, for both ordered and disordered alloys. The measured values of the mean isomer shift agree very well with the values expected from the Miedema-Van der Woude model.  相似文献

Iron nanoparticles of various sizes have been synthesized using the chemical route which involves the preparation of iron bipyridine complexes in presence of different capping agents followed by thermal decomposition at 450°C in inert atmosphere. The bimetallic nanoalloys of Fe with Mg and Pd have also been prepared by following the same route. The resulting nanoparticles have been characterized by EDX-RF, XRD, AFM and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. The appearance of quadrupole doublets in the Mössbauer spectra of Fe nanoparticles indicates the absence of magnetic interaction and variation in parameters is due to the varying particle size. The Mössbauer spectrum of Fe–Mg2 bimetallic nanoalloy shows two doublets indicating the presence of superparamagnetism. The two doublets can be attributed to change in s-electron density of iron resulting from its two neighboring magnesium atoms. Fe–Pd nanoalloy Mössbauer spectrum is characterized by having a superparamagnetic doublet and a ferromagnetic sextet.  相似文献
