Let F n be the free group of rank n, and let Aut+(F n ) be its special automorphism group. For an epimorphism π : F n G of the free group F n onto a finite group G we call the standard congruence subgroup of Aut+(F n ) associated to G and π. In the case n = 2 we fully describe the abelianization of Γ+(G, π) for finite abelian groups G. Moreover, we show that if G is a finite non-perfect group, then Γ+(G, π) ≤ Aut+(F 2) has infinite abelianization.  相似文献

Let R(F, G) be the variety of representations of a finitely generated group F into a connected reductive algebraic group G, and let C(F, G) be the variety of closed conjugacy classes of representations. We examine the question of whether an étale slice for the conjugation action of G exists through a representation ρR(F, G) when the ground field k has characteristic p > 0. We show that an étale slice through ρ may exist for the action of an enlarged group , even when there is no étale slice for the G-action. As an application, we generalise a result known to hold in characteristic zero, which expresses the tangent space to C(F, G) at the conjugacy class of a suitable representation ρ as a subspace of the 1-cohomology H1 (F, %plane1D;524;(ρ)) of an F-module %plane1D;524;(ρ). A similar result holds in characteristic p, but with H1 (F%plane1D;524;(ρ)) replaced by a quotient of H1 (F%plane1D;524;(ρ)).  相似文献

An edge e of a graph G is said to be a fixed edge if Ge+e G implies that e =e, and a forced edge if Ge+e is an edge-reconstruction of G implies that e =e. In this paper, we use the method of excludable configurations to investigate the fixed edges and the forced edges of series-parallel networks. It is proved that all series-parallel networks contain fixed edges except P 3K 1 and P 4K 1, and that all series-parallel networks are edge-reconstructible. As the main result, we show that if G is a finite group such that Γ(G) = Γ(2 F 4(q)), where q = 22m+1 for some m ≧ 1, then G has a unique nonabelian composition factor isomorphic to 2 F 4(q). We also show that if G is a finite group satisfying |G| =|2 F 4(q)| and Γ(G) = Γ(2 F 4(q)), then G2 F 4(q). As a consequence of our result we give a new proof for a conjecture of W. Shi and J. Bi for 2 F 4(q). The third author was supported in part by a grant from IPM (No. 87200022).  相似文献

Let F be a non-Archimedean locally compact field, and let p be its residual characteristic. Put G=GL p (F) and let G =D ×, where $D$ is a division algebra with centre F and of degree p 2 over F. The Jacquet–Langlands correspondence is a bijection between the discrete series of G and that of G . We describe this explicitly, in terms of Carayol's parametrization of these discrete series. A subgroupX of the locally finite groupG is said to beconfined, if there exists a finite subgroupFG such thatX gF≠1 for allgG. Since there seems to be a certain correspondence between proper confined subgroups inG and non-trivial ideals in the complex group algebra ℂG, we determine the confined subgroups of periodic simple finitary linear groups in this paper. An (m+2)-dimensional Lorentzian similarity manifold M is an affine flat manifold locally modeled on (G,ℝ m+2), where G = ℝ m+2 ⋊ (O(m+1, 1)×ℝ+). M is also a conformally flat Lorentzian manifold because G is isomorphic to the stabilizer of the Lorentzian group PO(m+2, 2) of the Lorentz model S m+1,1. We discuss the properties of compact Lorentzian similarity manifolds using developing maps and holonomy representations.  相似文献

We study some of the combinatorial structures related to the signature ofG-symmetric products of (open) surfacesSP G m (M)=M m/G whereGS m.The attention is focused on the question, what information about a surfaceM can be recovered from a symmetric productSP n(M). The problem is motivated in part by the study of locally Euclidean topological commutative (m+k,m)-groups, [16]. Emphasizing a combinatorial point of view we express the signature Sign(SP G m (M))in terms of the cycle index ofG, a polynomial which originally appeared in Pólya enumeration theory of graphs, trees, chemical structures etc. The computations are used to show that there exist punctured Riemann surfacesM g,k,M g′,k′such that the manifoldsSP m(M g,k)andSP m(M)g′,k′)are often not homeomorphic, although they always have the same homotopy type provided 2 g +k=2 g′ +k′ andk,k′≥1. It is proved that ifE is a separable Banach lattice withE′ weakly sequentially complete,F is a Banach space andT:E→F is a bounded linear operator withT′F′ non-separable, then there is a subspaceG ofE, isomorphic toC(Δ), such thatT G is an isomorphism, whereC(Δ) denotes the space of continuous real valued functions on the Cantor discontinuum. This generalizes an earlier result of the second-named author. A number of conditions are proved equivalent for a Banach latticeE to contain a subspace order isomorphic toC(Δ). Among them are the following:L 1 is lattice isomorphic to a sublattice ofE′;C(Δ)′ is lattice isomorphic to a sublattice ofE′; E contains an order bounded sequence with no weak Cauchy subsequence;E has a separable closed sublatticeF such thatF′ does not have a weak order unit.  Let G be a graph, and g, f, f′ be positive integer-valued functions defined on V(G). If an f′-factor of G is a spanning tree, we say that it is f′-tree. In this paper, it is shown that G contains a connected (g, f+f′−1)-factor if G has a (g, f)-factor and an f′-tree. Received: October 30, 2000 Final version received: August 20, 2002  相似文献

It is proved that, if G is a finite group that has the same set of element orders as the simple group D p (q), where p is prime, p ≥ 5 and q ∈ {2, 3, 5}, then the commutator group of G/F(G) is isomorphic to D p (q), the subgroup F(G) is equal to 1 for q = 5 and to O q (G) for q ∈ {2, 3}, F(G) ≤ G′, and |G/G′| ≤ 2.  相似文献

Let G be a digraph with vertex set V(G) and arc set E(G) and let g = (g , g +) and ƒ = (ƒ , ƒ +) be pairs of positive integer-valued functions defined on V(G) such that g (x) ⩽ ƒ (x) and g +(x) ⩽ ƒ +(x) for each xV(G). A (g, ƒ)-factor of G is a spanning subdigraph H of G such that g (x) ⩽ id H (x) ⩽ ƒ (x) and g +(x) ⩽ od H (x) ⩽ ƒ +(x) for each xV(H); a (g, ƒ)-factorization of G is a partition of E(G) into arc-disjoint (g, ƒ)-factors. Let = {F 1, F 2,…, F m} and H be a factorization and a subdigraph of G, respectively. is called k-orthogonal to H if each F i , 1 ⩽ im, has exactly k arcs in common with H. In this paper it is proved that every (mg+m−1,m+1)-digraph has a (g, f)-factorization k-orthogonal to any given subdigraph with km arcs if k ⩽ min{g (x), g +(x)} for any xV(G) and that every (mg, mf)-digraph has a (g, f)-factorization orthogonal to any given directed m-star if 0 ⩽ g(x) ⩽ f(x) for any xV(G). The results in this paper are in some sense best possible.   相似文献

LetG be a connected complex semisimple Lie group. Let Γ be a cocompact lattice inG. In this paper, we show that whenG isSL 2(C), nontrivial deformations of the canonical complex structure onX exist if and only if the first Betti number of the lattice Γ is non-zero. It may be remarked that for a wide class of arithmetic groups Γ, one can find a subgroup Γ′ of finite index in Γ, such that Γ′/[Γ′,Γ′] is finite (it is a conjecture of Thurston that this is true for all cocompact lattices inSL(2, C)). We also show thatG acts trivially on the coherent cohomology groupsH i(Γ/G, O) for anyi≥0.  相似文献

Let F be a non-Archimedean locally compact field, n be an integer ≥ 2, κ be a character of F × of finite order dividing n, and G be the group GL(n, F). We prove that if π is an irreducible κ-discrete series of G, then there exist some pseudo-coefficients for the twisted character trace(πA) where A denotes a non-zero intertwining operator between π ⊗ (κ ∘ det) and π.  相似文献

Let X =  (V, E) be a connected graph. Call X super restricted edge connected in short, sup-λ′, if F is a minimum edge set of X such that XF is disconnected and every component of XF has at least two vertices, then F is the set of edges adjacent to a certain edge with minimum edge degree in X. A bipartite graph is said to be half vertex transitive if its automorphism group is transitive on the sets of its bipartition. In this article, we show that every connected half vertex transitive graph X with n =  |V(X)| ≥  4 and X \ncong K1,n-1{X \ncong K_{1,n-1}} is λ′-optimal. By studying the λ′-superatoms of X, we characterize sup-λ′ connected half vertex transitive graphs. As a corollary, sup-λ′ connected Bi-Cayley graphs are also characterized.  相似文献

Let F′,F be any two closed orientable surfaces of genus g′ > g≥ 1, and f:FF be any pseudo-Anosov map. Then we can “extend” f to be a pseudo- Anosov map f′:F′→ F′ so that there is a fiber preserving degree one map M(F′,f′)→ M(F,f) between the hyperbolic surface bundles. Moreover the extension f′ can be chosen so that the surface bundles M(F′,f′) and M(F,f) have the same first Betti numbers. Y. Let F be a field of characteristic ≠ 2 such that is of cohomological 2- and 3-dimension ≤ 2. For G a simply connected group of type 3 D 4 or 6 D 4 over F, we show that the natural map
where Ω F is the set of orderings of F and F v denotes the completion of F at v, restricts to be injective on the image of H 1(F, Z(G)) in H 1(F, G). For F not formally real, this implies that Serre's “Conjecture II” [Ser.94,III.3.1] holds for such groups if and only if trialitarian groups are classified by their Tits algebras over F. Let G : Ω→Ω' be a closed unital map between commutative, unital quantales. G induces a functor G^- from the category of Ω-categories to that of Ω'-categories. This paper is concerned with some basic properties of G^-. The main results are: (1) when Ω, Ω' are integral, G : Ω→Ω' and F : Ω'→Ω are closed unital maps, F is a left adjoint of G^- if and only if F is a left adjoint of G; (2) G^- is an equivalence of categories if and only if G is an isomorphism in the category of commutative unital quantales and closed unital maps; and (3) a sufficient condition is obtained for G^- to preserve completeness in the sense that GA is a complete Ω'-category whenever A is a complete Ω-category.  相似文献

Explicit expressions for the transfers V i from a metabelian p-group G of coclass cc(G) = 1 to its maximal normal subgroups M 1, . . . , M p+1 are derived by means of relations for generators. The expressions for the exceptional case p = 2 differ significantly from the standard case of odd primes p ≥ 3. In both cases the transfer kernels Ker(V i ) are calculated and the principalisation type of the metabelian p-group is determined, if G is realised as the Galois group Gal(Fp2(K)|K){{\rm{Gal}}({F}_p^2(K)\vert K)} of the second Hilbert p-class field Fp2(K){{F}_p^2(K)} of an algebraic number field K. For certain metabelian 3-groups G with abelianisation G/G′ of type (3, 3) and of coclass cc(G) = r ≥ 3, it is shown that the principalisation type determines the position of G on the coclass graph G(3,r){\mathcal{G}(3,r)} in the sense of Eick and Leedham-Green.  相似文献
