The paper gives the results of measuring ferromagnetic resonance on thin cobalt films, vacuum deposited on unheated glass slides. The values of the (g-factor, the width of the curve, the effective stress and uniaxial induced anisotropy were determined as a function of the thickness of the film from measurements of the ferromagnetic absorption in a magnetic field normal and parallel to the surface of the film. Measurements were carried out on a frequency of 9200 MHz and on film thicknesses of 180 to 1800 Å. A qualitative explanation of the observed dependences is given.

The dispersion of the third-order electric susceptibilities(; , , –) and(; , 0, 0) of NaCl and KCl monocrystals has been calculated by means of experimental data on the electro-optic Kerr effect. The result has been obtained by using semi-classical models of anharmonic oscillators. An ionic contribution to the electro-optic coefficients has been presented. From the result obtained it follows that the third-order electric susceptibilities are of the order of 10–22 m2 V–2.  相似文献

A comprehensive study of the ac response properties of the classical stochastic model for sliding charge density waves (CDW) in quasi one-dimensional metals is made by numerically solving the associated Fokker-Planck equation. Above the conductivity threshold a noise mechanism is indispensable to give finite line widths to the resonances of the applied ac signal of frequency with the narrow band noise frequency OSC inherent in the model. In the present investigation a current noise of strengthT N proportional to the CDW current is used in the Fokker-Planck equation in order to model the broad band current noise frequently observed above threshold. The present model thus incorporates three characteristic frequency scales: OSC,T N ,and a crossover frequency OSC. Results are evaluated for the ac conductivity (;E 0,E ) as function of frequency , dc bias electric fieldE 0 and ac signal field strengthE . ForE 0 the linear ac response is obtained by a separate treatment of the Fokker-Planck equation. The resonances near =OSC are studied in detail. Strong ac signals reduce the response at the fundamental resonance and lead to a harmonic interference structure nearn=OSC. The overall agreement of the present results with recent measurements of the linear ac response is not good. In reality our results seem to be superimposed on a background not reproduced by the classical model with one cross over frequency. However, the peak in Im (;E 0,E =0) vs.E 0, when the narrow band noise frequency is near , is well reproduced. The spectral width of this peak which corresponds to the inductive dip in the susceptibility is studied as function of current noise strengthT N .The results stress the need for a complete Fokker-Planck treatment sinceT N is not simply related to the line width.  相似文献

The time evolution of a damped quantum particle is discussed. Dissipation is modeled by the bilinear coupling to a set of harmonic oscillators. Using a functional integral technique that accounts for initial correlations between the particle and the reservoir, one can express the dynamics of the damped particle entirely in terms of equilibrium correlation functions. The long-time behavior of these correlations is determined for memory damping arising from the coupling to a reservoir with spectral densityI() at low frequencies, where > 0. The time evolution of nonequilibrium initial states of the damped particle is discussed. At finite temperatures an initially localized state is found to spread subdiffusively or superdiffusively, depending on . For > 2 the damping becomes ineffective for long times, and the width of a state grows kinematically. At zero temperature and for < 1, an initially localized state remains localized for all times. For 1 the state spreads, but with a slower rate than at finite temperatures. Study of arbitrary initial states indicates that the process is ergodic at finite temperatures only for 2 and at zero temperature for 1 2.  相似文献

We demonstrate that the intriguing 830 nm coherent emission, which is observed when sodium vapor is pumped with a high-power pulsed laser tuned near the 3S4D two-photon transition, is due to an axially phase-matched six-wave mixing process. This conclusion is based upon the observation of emission near 584 nm, which is coupled to the 830 nm emission in the six-wave mixing process: 1+2=2L4D4P 4P3D . In addition, we have observed coherent emission near 1.16 m, which is due to an analogous process involving cascade through the 4S (as opposed to the 3D) state. We calculate the wavelengths of all photons involved in these processes using the standard formulas of parametric wave-mixing theory, and show that they can be predicted to within experimental uncertainties. Finally we report observations of significant blue shifts of the 830 nm and 1.16 m emissions in a mixed sodium-potassium vapor. These shifts can be readily understood by considering the effect of the potassium on the frequency-dependent refractive index of the vapor. Due to these results, other recent interpretations of the 830 nm emission as stimulated excimer emission on the Na2 13 g + 13 u + band must now be rejected.  相似文献

Every normal, faithful, self-adjoint functional on a von Neumann algebraA canonically determines a one-parameter-weakly continuous *-automorphism group (the analog of the modular group) and a canonical 2 grading onA, commuting with . The theory and structure of the temperature image
The paper describes the theory of the formation of a temperature image when there are large temperature differences and introduces the concept of temperature distortion of an image. It also deals with the geometrical distortion of the temperature image by the longitudinal thermal conductivity of the receiver layer and gives a solution of the corresponding differential equation of the temperature image for the case of a general linear line test and general circular concentric test. Equations are derived for the temperature distributions of the temperature images of some optical lineated and circular test objects and their geometrical distortion due to the thermal conductivity of the receiver layer is investigated.

The first part of the paper gives a general equation for triple-crystal arrangement with perfect crystals on the assumption that the third crystal is rotated. It is shown that in the case of perfect crystals the shape of the reflection curve is practically independent of the vertical divergence. The case of mosaic crystals is also solved and the possibility of rotation by other than the third crystal is considered. A method is proposed for investigating the imperfection of a crystal which is different from methods used up to now. The paper is supplemented by some experimental results.

Within the framework of the conditions ; » –1 ( –1 is the mean time of momentum relaxation), the coefficient of absorption () of a weak electromagnetic wave by the free carriers of a polar semiconductor is calculated in the presence of a strong wave (of frequency ), for arbitrary values of and . Photon absorption by band electrons is due to these latter interacting with optical phonons (of frequency o). The problem is solved by using an analogous approach to the theory of the linear Kubo reaction. The results are valid in the absence of electron heating, when a strong wave only influences the scattering probability. The appearance of a photostimulated tail of absorption is predicted for < o, including the jump () for ( – o + ) 0T as well as peaks in the function () at the points s=s (s=1, 2, 3,...). We study the degree of additivity of orthogonal Hilbert-space-valued measures on the latticeL(H) of all projections acting on a Hilbert spaceH. We present criteria for such measures to be completely additive and we establish the connection between the additivity of orthogonal measures and the size of almost disjoint families on dimH. [For example, we show that everyH-valued orthogonal measure is weakly-additive iff (dimH) > dim H]. As a corollary we see that finitely additive orthogonal measures distinguish dimensions of Hilbert spaces (this can be viewed as a generalization of a theorem by Kruszynski). As a further corollary, we obtain that, for cardinals, with >,3, there is no Jordan homomorphism from a typeI -factor into a typeI -factor. Finally, we show that every latticeL(H) with (dimH) = dimH admits a nonzero free orthogonal measure with values inH. Our results contribute to the noncommutative probability theory and also may find applications in the theory of the representation ofC *-algebras.  相似文献

The influence of compression on the edge of self absorption of AgBr single crystals was studied. The measurements were performed at a temperature of –180°C. The shift of the edge of self absorption was studied both in the field of elastic and plastic deformations. The shift of the absorption edge towards the UV end of the spectrum was determined in the field of elastic deformations and towards the i.r. end in the field of plastic deformations. After the ending of the deformation and after unloading the crystal the return of the absorption edge towards the original position was observed.

Under routine independence assumptions, one may then calculate a formula for the spectrum ofn(t), S n(), in terms of the probability density ofs, ps(). If any probability density ps() having the property ps() I for small is substituted into this formula, the calculated Sn() is such that Sn() 1 for small . However, this is not a spectrum of a well-defined random process; here, it is termed alimit spectrum. If a probability density having the property ps() for small , where > 0, is substituted into the formula instead, a spectrum is calculated which is indeed the spectrum of a well-defined random process. Also, if the latter ps is suitably close to the former ps, then the spectrum in the second case approximates, to an arbitrary, degree of accuracy, the limit spectrum. It is shown how one may thereby have 1/f noise with low-frequency turnover, and also strict 1/f 1– noise (the latter spectrum being integrable for > 0). Suitable examples are given. Conclusions In summary, we have studied the parametric instability of a cold electron plasma in a strong, circularly polarized electromagnetic wave, taking into account the relativistic nature of the electron motion. We have shown that an instability of longitudinal waves occurs at frequencies p/ and p/, while an instability of transverse waves occurs at frequencies 0±0 and 0±p/. The results of a numerical solution of the dispersion relation for large pump amplitudes, in which case the approximation of a weak coupling between waves is not applicable, show that the growth rates and the bands of the instabilities increase with increasing pump amplitude. We have found that in the case of the excitation of electromagnetic plasma waves, even at low pump amplitudes, the relativistic nature of the electron motion can be of decisive importance for the effect.T. The change in integrated intensity of the (200) reflections of a solid solution during the formation of G.P. zones was measured and compared with the change in the character of the diffuse streaks corresponding to them. It was found that the. formation of G.P. zones does not lead to a decrease in primary extinction despite the great changes in the distribution of the copper atoms. It was shown that the formation of a precipitate accompanied by the formation of crystallographically incoherent boundaries greatly decreases the primary extinction.

The averaged retarded electron Green functionG +(,k) in 1d disordered metal is calculated using the Berezinsky diagram technique. Using the Gorkov's theory it is shown, that the substitution of inG + (,k) by the square of the external frequency atk=0 gives the dependence of Fröhlich conductivity F(). This dependence describes the impurity pinning of CDW in 1d disordered metals. The method of transition probabilities is used to calculate the line width of ferromagnetic resonance in a medium with an inhomogeneous saturation magnetization. It is shown that in addition to linear (with respect to the Fourier components of the function describing inhomogeneities) terms, the perturbation Hamiltonian must include also quadratic terms. The frequency dependence of the contribution of the porosity to H is fundamentally different from the frequency dependence of the magnetic anisotropy contribution. A one-parameter family of piecewise-linear discontinuous maps, which bifurcates from a periodic state of periodm, (m=2, 3,...) to an intermittent chaos, is studied as a new model for the onset of turbulence via intermittency. The onset of chaos of this model is due to the excitation of an infinite number of unstable periodic orbits and hence differs from Pomeau-Manneville's mechanism, which is a collapse of a pair of stable and unstable periodic orbits. The invariant density, the time-correlation function, and the power spectrum are analytically calculated for an infinite sequence of values of the bifurcation parameter which accumulate to the onset point c from the chaos side - c > 0. The power spectrum near=0 is found to consist of a large number of Lorentzian lines with two dominant peaks. The highest peak lies around frequency=2/m with the power-law envelope l/¦-(2/m)¦4. The second-highest peak lies around o = 0 with the envelope l/¦¦2. The width of each line decreases as, and the separation between lines decreases as/lg3–1. It is also shown that the Liapunov exponent takes the form-/m and the mean lifetime of the periodic state in the intermittent chaos is given bym –1(ln –1+1).  相似文献
