The low-temperature specific heat C p of La(Fe0.873Co0.007Al0.12)13 compound has been measured in two states: (i) antiferromagnetic (AFM) with a Néel temperature of T N = 192 K and (ii) ferromagnetic (FM). The FM order appears at T = 4.2 K in a sample exposed to an external magnetic field with induction B C ≥ 2.5 T and is retained for a long time in a zero field at temperatures up to T*C = 23 K. The coefficient γFM in the low-temperature specific heat C = γT + βT 3 in the FM state differs quite insignificantly from that (γAFM) in the AFM state. Contributions to the low-temperature specific heat, which are related to a change in the elastic and magnetoelastic energy caused by magnetostrictive deformations, are considered.  相似文献

The anion deficient cobaltite La0.5Ba0.5CoO2.8 with theformal cobalt valence state close to 3+ has been studied as function of pressure up to6.5 GPa at different temperatures by neutron powder diffraction. At ambient pressure thecrystal structure of this compound has cubic symmetry (space group Pm3?m) and is found to become antiferromagnetic withT N close to 250 K. Applied pressure inducesa gradual transition from the antiferromagnetic into a ferromagnetic state through a mixedmagnetic state. The transition is not accompanied by obvious changes in the macroscopiccrystal symmetry. It is suggested that the magnetic ground state strongly depends on theunit cell volume and that the transition is associated with a spin state crossover of thecobalt ions whereas the formal Co3+/Co4+ ratio is less importantthan expected following the double exchange scenario for the appearance offerromagnetism.  相似文献

Magnetic, elastic, magnetoelastic, transport, and magnetotransport properties of the Eu0.55Sr0.45MnO3 ceramics have been studied. A break was detected in the temperature dependence of electrical resistivity ρ(T) near the temperature of the magnetic phase transformation (41 K), with the material remaining an insulator down to the lowest measurement temperature reached (ρ=106 Ω cm at 4.2 K). In the interval 4.2≤T≤50 K, the isotherms of the magnetization, volume magnetostriction, and ρ were observed to undergo jumps at the critical field HC1, which decreases with increasing T. For 50≤T≤120 K, the jumps in the above curves persist, but the pattern of the curves changes and HC1 grows with increasing T. The magnetoresistance Δρ/ρ = (ρ H H=0)/ρ H is positive for H<HC1 and passes through a maximum at 41 K, where Δρ/ρ = 6%. For H>HC1, the magnetoresistance is negative, passes through a minimum near 41 K, and reaches a colossal value of 3×105 % at H=45 kOe. The volume magnetostriction is negative and attains a giant value of 4.5×10?4atH=45 kOe. The observed properties are assigned to the existence of three phases in Eu0.55Sr0.45MnO3, namely, a ferromagnetic (FM) phase, in which carriers are concentrated because of the gain in s-d exchange energy, and two antiferromagnetic (AFM) phases of the A and CE types. Their fractional volumes at low temperatures were estimated to be as follows: ~3% of the sample volume is occupied by the FM phase; ~67%, by the CE-type AFM phase; and ~30%, by the A-type AFM phase.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of Li x CoO2 for x = 0.94, 0.75, 0.66, and 0.51 are investigated within the method combining the generalized gradient approximation with dynamical mean field theory (GGA + DMFT). A delicate interplay between Hund’s exchange energy and t 2g ?e g crystal field splitting is found to be responsible for the high-spin to low-spin state transition for Co4+ ions. The GGA + DMFT calculations show that the Co4+ ions at a small doping level adopt the high-spin state, while delithiation leads to an increase in the crystal field splitting and low-spin state becomes preferable. The Co3+ ions are found to stay in the low-spin configuration for any x values.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of the EuMn0.5Co0.5O3 perovskite synthesized under various conditions are studied in fields up to 140 kOe. The sample synthesized at T = 1500°C is shown to exhibit a metamagnetic phase transition, which is irreversible below T = 40 K, and the sample synthesized at T = 1200°C demonstrates the field dependence of magnetization that is typical of a ferromagnet. Both samples have TC = 123 K and approximately the same magnetization in high magnetic fields. The metamagnetism is assumed to be related to a transition from a noncollinear ferromagnetic phase to a collinear phase, and the presence of clusters with ordered Co2+ and Mn4+ ions leads to ferromagnetism. The noncollinear phase is formed due to the competition between positive Co2+–Mn4+ and negative Mn4+–Mn4+ and Co2+–Co2+ interactions, which make almost the same contributions, and to the existence of a high magnetic anisotropy.  相似文献

The structural, elastic, magnetic, and magnetoelectric properties of the CaBaCo4O7 multiferroic are experimentally studied and compared with the properties of the related YBaCo4O7 cobaltite, where Y3+ ions substitute for Ca2+ ions. Unlike the frustrated YBaCo4O7 magnet, the softening of Young’s modulus and the hysteresis in the ΔE(T)/E 0 curve of ferrimagnetic CaBaCo4O7 in the paramagnetic region are weak, and the anomaly during the magnetic transition increases by almost an order of magnitude. This difference can point to different characters of the development of a long-range magnetic order in these two cobaltites. The distortion of the crystal structure that removes the frustrations of exchange interactions is found to correlate with the magnetic behavior of the cobaltites under study. The magnetization curves of the Ca cobaltite have two steps below 15 K, which can point to the presence of a metastable state in a high magnetic field. The study of the longitudinal and transverse magnetoelectric effects in a pulsed magnetic field demonstrates that their magnitudes are maximal near T C and change their character from linear to quadratic during passage through this temperature.  相似文献

The magnetic superconductorRu0.9Sr2YCu2.1O7.9 (Ru-1212Y) has beeninvestigated using neutron diffraction under variable temperature and magnetic field. Withthe complementary information from magnetization measurements, we propose a magnetic phasediagram T-H for the Ru-1212 system. Uniaxialantiferromagnetic (AFM) order of 1.2μ B /Ruatoms with moments parallel to the c-axis is found below the magnetictransition temperature at  ~140 K in the absence of magnetic field. In addition, ferromagnetism (FM) in the ab-plane develops below  ~120 K, butis suppressed at lower temperature by superconducting correlations. Externally appliedmagnetic fields cause Ru-moments to realign from the c-axis to theab-plane, i.e. along the ?1,1,0? direction, and induce ferromagnetismin the plane with  ~1μ B at 60 kOe.These observations of the weak ferromagnetism suppressed by superconductivity and thefield-induced metamagnetic transition between AFM and FM demonstrate not only competingorders of superconductivity and magnetism, but also suggest a certain vortex dynamicscontributing to these magnetic transitions.  相似文献

Thin epitaxial films of Re0.6Ba0.4MnO3 (Re = La, Pr, Nd, Gd) on (001)-oriented single crystal SrTiO3 and ZrO2(Y2O3) substrates have been prepared and studied. All films possess a cubic perovskite structure, except for the film with Re = La, which exhibited a rhombohedral distortion of the perovskite lattice. The results show evidence for the presence of two magnetic phases, ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM), in the films studied: (i) the magnetization isotherm M(H) appears as a superposition of a linear component (characteristic of antiferromagnets) and a small spontaneous magnetization component; (ii) the magnetic moment per formula unit is significantly reduced as compared to the value expected for the complete FM or ferrimagnetic ordering; (iii) there is a difference between magnetizations of the samples cooled with and without an applied magnetic field, which is preserved in the entire range of magnetic fields studied (50 kOe); (iv) the temperature dependence of the magnetization M(T) in strong magnetic fields is close to linear (for the composition with Re = Gd, M(T) is described by a Langevin function for superparamagnets with a cluster moment of 2μB); and (v) the magnetization hysteresis loops of the field-cooled samples are shifted along the field axis. The exchange integral (characterizing the Mn-O-Mn coupling via the FM-AFM phase boundary) estimated from the latter shift is | J|=10?6 eV. This value is two orders of magnitude lower than the negative exchange integral between the FM layers in ReMnO3, which makes the presence of a transition layer at the FM-AFM phase boundary unlikely. The temperature dependences of electrical resistance and magnetoresistance exhibit maxima at the Curie temperature (TC), where the magnetoresistance reaches a colossal value. This behavior indicates that the two-phase magnetic state is caused by a strong s-d exchange.  相似文献

High pressure evolution of structural, vibrational and magnetic properties of La0.75Ca0.25MnO3 was studied by means of X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy up to 39 GPa, and neutron diffraction up to 7.5 GPa. The stability of different magnetic ground states, orbital configurations and structural modifications were investigated by LDA + U electronic structure calculations. A change of octahedral tilts corresponding to the transformation of orthorhombic crystal structure from the Pnma symmetry to the Immaone occurs above P ~ 6 GPa. At the same time, the evolution of the orthorhombic lattice distortion evidences an appearance of the e g d x² ? z² orbital polarization at high pressures. The magnetic order in La0.75Ca0.25MnO3 undergoes a continuous transition from the ferromagnetic 3D metallic (FM) ground state to the A-type antiferromagnetic (AFM) state of assumedly 2D pseudo-metallic character under pressure, that starts at about 1 GPa and extends possibly to 20–30 GPa.  相似文献

The effect of additives of cobalt and zirconium oxides on the conductivity of nanostructured composites based on indium oxide is studied. It is shown that addition of up to 20 wt % ZrO2 to In2O3 leads to a sharp decrease in the conductivity of the composite. For the Co3O4?In2O3 system, the conductivity decreases up to a Co3O4 content of 60 wt %, after which it increases. At a Co3O4 content in the Co3O4?In2O3 system of up to 60 wt %, n-type conduction takes place, changing to p-type at 80 to 100 wt % Co3O4. Zirconium oxide exhibits practically no n-type conduction, so electric current in the ZrO2?In2O3 system flows through In2O3 nanocrystals, i.e., n-type conduction takes place. Possible causes of the observed effects are considered.  相似文献

The crystal structure and magnetic properties of the Bi1 ? x Ca x Fe1 ? x/2Nb x/2O3 system were studied. It is shown that, at x ≤ 0.15, the unit-cell symmetry of solid solutions is rhombohedral (space group R3c). Solid solutions with x ≥ 0.3 have an orthorhombic unit cell (space group Pbnm). The rhombohedral compositions are antiferromagnetic, while the orthorhombic compositions exhibit a small spontaneous magnetization due to Dzyaloshinski?-Moriya interaction. In CaFe0.5Nb0.5O3, the Fe3+ and Nb5+ ions are partially ordered and the unit cell is monoclinic (space group P21/n). In the concentration range 0.15 < x < 0.30, a two-phase state (R3c + Pbnm) is revealed.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of an EuBaCo1.9O5.36 single crystal are studied in the temperature range T = 2–300 K and the magnetic field range H ≤ 90 kOe. This binary layered cobaltite single crystal has vacancies in the cobalt and oxygen sublattices, in contrast to the stoichiometric EuBaCo2O5.5 composition. All cobalt ions in EuBaCo1.9O5.36 are in a trivalent state. The single crystal has an orthorhombic structure with space group Pmmm, and its unit cell parameters are a = 3.883 Å, b = 7.833 Å, and c = 7.551 Å. The field and temperature dependences of the magnetization of the single crystal demonstrate that it is ferrimagnet below TC = 242 K. At T < 300 K, all three spin states of the Co3+ ions are present. The nearest-neighbor interactions give antiferromagnetic (AFM) and ferromagnetic (FM) contributions to the exchange energy. The ratio of the AFM to the FM contributions changes when temperature decreases because of a change in the spin state of the Co3+ ions. The single crystal exhibits signs of mictomagnetism at low temperatures in high magnetic fields. At T = 2 K and H = 90 kOe, the zero-field and nonzero-field magnetizations are strongly different because of a uniaxial magnetic anisotropy, which tends to set magnetization along the magnetic field applied in cooling throughout the crystal volume. As a result, a complex ferrimagnetic structure with a noncollinear direction of Co3+ spins appears. The following phenomena characteristic of mictomagnets are also observed in the EuBaCo1.9O5.36 single crystal: a shift in a magnetization hysteresis loop when temperature decreases, retained hysteretic phenomena and no magnetization saturation in high magnetic fields, and an orientation transition. The mictomagnetic state in EuBaCo1.9O5.36 is shown to be caused by the structural distortions induced by vacancies in the cobalt and oxygen sublattices and by the frustration of AFM and FM exchange interactions.  相似文献

The spins of Ru5+ ions in Sr2YRuO6 form a face-centered cubic lattice with antiferromagnetic nearest neighbor interaction J≈25 meV. The antiferromagnetic structure of the first type experimentally observed below the Néel temperature T N =26 K corresponds to four frustrated spins of 12 nearest neighbors. In the Heisenberg model in the spin-wave approximation, the frustrations already cause instability of the antiferromagnetic state at T=0 K. This state is stabilized by weak anisotropy D or exchange interaction I with the next-nearest neighbors. Low D/JI/J~10?3 values correspond to the experimental T N and sublattice magnetic moment values.  相似文献

Metastable solid solutions (SS) Mn3FeTiSbO9 and Mn4FeTi2SbO12 with the ilmenite structure (space group R\(\bar 3\)) have been prepared by quenching at normal conditions. The compositions of the compounds have been justified using EDX spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The magnetic properties of SSs have been analyzed by comparison with ferrimagnetic ilmenite Mn2FeSbO6 (TN = 269 K) as a natural mineral and ceramics obtained at high pressure and high temperature. The solid solutions have been characterized as dilute magnetic systems formed as a result of substitution of nonmagnetic cations Ti4+ for a part of Fe3+ and Sb5+ cations. Mn3FeTiSbO9 is considered as a ferromagnetic with TN = 171 K and Mn4FeTi2SbO12 as a magnetic with the concentration of magnetic clusters below the percolation threshold.  相似文献

The magnetization of the canted antiferromagnet CoCO3 (T N = 18.1 K) is calculated in the Weiss molecular field approximation taking into account the microscopic state of the Co2+ ion in the entire range of temperatures and magnetic fields. The values of T N, magnetic susceptibility in the basal plane, and ferromagnetic moment were used as parameters. It is shown that the anisotropy of the g factor and of the exchange interaction at low temperatures (T < 30 K) including the magnetic ordering temperature is correctly described in the Abragam-Pryce approximation. At high temperatures, the g factor increases and becomes isotropic, but it cannot be described using the Abragam-Pryce approximation. The reasons for g factor variation and the magnitude of the magnetic moment are discussed.  相似文献

For La 0.825 3+ Sr 0.175 2 +Mn3+O 2.912 2? anion-deficient manganite, the specific magnetization, the dynamic magnetic susceptibility, and the heat capacity are investigated. This material is found to be an inhomogeneous ferromagnet below the Curie point T C ≈ 122 K, which is much lower than the Curie point determined for the stoichiometric composition (T C ≈ 268 K). An increase in magnetic field by two orders of magnitude leads to an increase in the Curie temperature by ΔT ≈ 12 K. The presence of oxygen vacancies leads to the frustration of a part, namely, V fr ≈ 22%, of the indirect Mn3+-O-Mn3+ exchange interactions, but the spin glass state is not realized. The ferromagnetic matrix of the material under study is characterized by a scatter in the exchange interaction intensities. The heat capacity is found to exhibit an anomalous behavior. Based on the Banerjee magnetic criterion, it is established that the ferromagnet-paramagnet transition observed for La 0.825 3+ Sr 0.175 2+ Mn3+O 2.912 2? anion-deficient manganite is a second-order thermodynamic phase transition. The mechanism and origin of the critical behavior of the system under investigation are discussed.  相似文献

The neodymium ferroborate NdFe3(BO3)4 undergoes an antiferromagnetic transition at T N = 30 K, which manifests itself as a λ-type anomaly in the temperature dependence of the specific heat C and as inflection points in the temperature dependences of the magnetic susceptibility χ measured at various directions of an applied magnetic field with respect to the crystallographic axes of the sample. Magnetic ordering occurs only in the subsystem of Fe3+ ions, whereas the subsystem of Nd3+ ions remains polarized by the magnetic field of the iron subsystem. A change in the population of the levels of the ground Kramers doublet of neodymium ions manifests itself as Schottky-type anomalies in the C(T) and χ(T) dependences at low temperatures. At low temperatures, the magnetic properties of single-crystal NdFe3(BO3)4 are substantially anisotropic, which is determined by the anisotropic contribution of the rare-earth subsystem to the magnetization. The experimental data obtained are used to propose a model for the magnetic structure of NdFe3(BO3)4.  相似文献

The temperature behavior of I-U curves and the field and temperature dependences of the electrical resistivity and dielectric permittivity of crystals of the LiCu2O2 phase have been studied. It was established that the crystals belong to p-type semiconductors and that their static resistivity in the range 80–260 K follows the Mott law ρ=Aexp(T0/T)1/4 describing variable-range hopping over localized states. At comparatively low electric fields, the crystals exhibit threshold switching and characteristic S-shaped I-U curves containing a region of negative differential resistivity. In the critical voltage region, jumps in the conductivity and dielectric permittivity are observed. Possible mechanisms of the disorder and electrical instability in these crystals are discussed.  相似文献

We apply Raman scattering spectroscopy to study the nature of carbon inclusions in Al2O3 and (HfO2) x (Al2O3)1 ? x films deposited using volatile complex compounds. Raman spectra of the films under investigation contain D and G vibrational modes, which indicate that carbon clusters of the sp 2 configuration tend to form in the films. We estimate the size of clusters from the integrated intensity ratio I D /I G and find it to be in the range of 14–20 Å. The content of hydrogen in carbon clusters is calculated from the height of the photoluminescence pedestal and is found to vary from 14 to 30 at % depending on the regime of the film’s synthesis.  相似文献

This mini-review is dedicated to the 85th birthday of Prof. L.V. Keldysh, from whom we have learned so much. In this paper, we study the potential and electron density depth profiles in surface accumulation layers in crystals with a large and nonlinear dielectric response such as SrTiO3 (STO) in the cases of planar, spherical, and cylindrical geometries. The electron gas can be created by applying an induction D0 to the STO surface. We describe the lattice dielectric response of STO using the Landau–Ginzburg free energy expansion and employ the Thomas–Fermi (TF) approximation for the electron gas. For the planar geometry, we arrive at the electron density profile n(x) ∝ (x + d)–12/7, where dD0–12/7. We extend our results to overlapping electron gases in GTO/STO/GTO heterojunctions and electron gases created by spill-out from NSTO (heavily n-type doped STO) layers into STO. Generalization of our approach to a spherical donor cluster creating a big TF atom with electrons in STO brings us to the problem of supercharged nuclei. It is known that for an atom with a nuclear charge Ze where Z > 170, electrons collapse onto the nucleus, resulting in a net charge Zn < Z. Here, instead of relativistic physics, the collapse is caused by the nonlinear dielectric response. Electrons collapse into the charged spherical donor cluster with radius R when its total charge number Z exceeds the critical value ZcR/a, where a is the lattice constant. The net charge eZn grows with Z until Z exceeds Z* ≈ (R/a)9/7. After this point, the charge number of the compact core Zn remains ≈ Z*, with the rest Z* electrons forming a sparse TF atom with it. We extend our studies of collapse to the case of long cylindrical clusters as well.  相似文献
