In this paper we provide an existence result for a nonlocal problem of Kirchhoff‐type which involves both the p‐ and the q‐Laplacian and contains a critical term. Our approach is variational: we derive the existence of one non‐trivial solution via the multidimensional mountain pass theorem.  相似文献

In this note, a critical point result for differentiable functionals is exploited in order to prove that a suitable class of one‐dimensional fractional problems admits at least one non‐trivial solution under an asymptotical behaviour of the nonlinear datum at zero. This work is concerned with the periodic problem for compressible non‐isentropic Euler–Maxwell systems with a temperature damping term arising in plasmas. For this problem, we prove the global in time existence of a smooth solution around a given non‐constant steady state with the help of an induction argument on the order of the mixed time‐space derivatives of solutions in energy estimates. Moreover, we also show the convergence of the solution to this steady state as the time goes to the infinity. This phenomenon on the charge transport shows the essential relation of the systems with the non‐isentropic Euler–Maxwell and the isentropic Euler–Maxwell systems. This paper is concerned with a cross‐diffusion system arising in a Leslie predator–prey population model in a bounded domain with no flux boundary condition. We investigate sufficient condition for the existence and the non‐existence of non‐constant positive solution. We obtain that if natural diffusion coefficient of predator is large enough and cross‐diffusion coefficients are fixed, then under some conditions there exists non‐constant positive solution. Furthermore, we show that if natural diffusion coefficients of predator and prey are both large enough, and cross‐diffusion coefficients are small enough, then there exists no non‐constant positive solution. We consider an anisotropic phase‐field model for the isothermal solidification of a binary alloy due to Warren–Boettinger ( Acta. Metall. Mater. 1995; 43 (2):689). Existence of weak solutions is established under a certain convexity condition on the strongly non‐linear second‐order anisotropic operator and Lipschitz and boundedness assumptions for the non‐linearities. A maximum principle holds that guarantees the existence of a solution under physical assumptions on the non‐linearities. This article deals with a boundary value problem for Laplace equation with a non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition. This problem comes from petroleum engineering and is used to obtain an estimation of well productivity. The non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition is written on the well boundary. On the outer reservoir boundaries, we have both Dirichlet and Neumann conditions. In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to this problem. The existence is proved by Schauder theorem and the uniqueness is obtained under more restricted conditions, when the involved operator is a contraction. To find some non‐trivial higher‐dimensional integrable models (especially in (3+1) dimensions) is one of the most important problems in non‐linear physics. An efficient deformation method to obtain higher‐dimensional integrable models is proposed. Starting from (2+1)‐dimensional linear wave equation, a (3+1)‐dimensional non‐trivial non‐linear equation is obtained by using a non‐invertible deformation relation. We consider the initial boundary problem for a compressible non‐Newtonian fluid with density‐dependent viscosity. The local existence of strong solution is established that is based on some compatibility condition. Moreover, it is also proved that the solutions are to blow up, and the maximum norm of velocity gradients controls the possible break down of the strong solutions. The model of age‐dependent population dynamics was for the first time described by McKendrick (1926). This model was based on the first‐order partial differential equation with the standard initial condition and the non‐local boundary condition in integral form. Gurtin and MacCamy in their paper (1974) analyzed a more general model, where the progress of the population depends on its number. They proved the existence of the unique solution to their model for all time. In this paper, we propose a new scheme that combines weighted essentially non‐oscillatory (WENO) procedures together with monotone upwind schemes to approximate the viscosity solution of the Hamilton–Jacobi equations. In one‐dimensional (1D) case, first, we obtain an optimum polynomial on a four‐point stencil. This optimum polynomial is third‐order accurate in regions of smoothness. Next, we modify a second‐order ENO polynomial by choosing an additional point inside the stencil in order to obtain the highest accuracy when combined with the Harten–Osher reconstruction‐evolution method limiter. Finally, the optimum polynomial is considered as a symmetric and convex combination of three polynomials with ideal weights. Following the methodology of the classic WENO procedure, then, we calculate the non‐oscillatory weights with the ideal weights. Numerical experiments in 1D and 2D are performed to compare the capability of the hybrid scheme to WENO schemes. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, we first propose the so‐called improved split‐step theta methods for non‐autonomous stochastic differential equations driven by non‐commutative noise. Then, we prove that the improved split‐step theta method is convergent with strong order of one for stochastic differential equations with the drift coefficient satisfying a superlinearly growing condition and a one‐sided Lipschitz continuous condition. The purpose of this article is to offer new insight and tools toward the pursuit of the largest chromatic number in the class of thicknesstwo graphs. At present, the highest chromatic number known for a thickness‐two graph is 9, and there is only one known color‐critical such graph. We introduce 40 small 9‐critical thickness‐two graphs, and then use a newconstruction, the permuted layer graphs, together with a construction of Hajós to create an infinite family of 9‐critical thickness‐two graphs. Finally, a non‐trivial infinite subfamily of Catlin's graphs, with directly computable chromatic numbers, is shown to have thickness two. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper is a continuation of our recent paper 8 . We will consider the semi‐linear Cauchy problem for wave models with scale‐invariant time‐dependent mass and dissipation and power non‐linearity. The goal is to study the interplay between the coefficients of the mass and the dissipation term to prove global existence (in time) of small data energy solutions assuming suitable regularity on the L2 scale with additional L1 regularity for the data. In order to deal with this L2 regularity in the non‐linear part, we will develop and employ some tools from Harmonic Analysis.  相似文献

Let X be a vertex‐transitive graph, that is, the automorphism group Aut(X) of X is transitive on the vertex set of X. The graph X is said to be symmetric if Aut(X) is transitive on the arc set of X. suppose that Aut(X) has two orbits of the same length on the arc set of X. Then X is said to be half‐arc‐transitive or half‐edge‐transitive if Aut(X) has one or two orbits on the edge set of X, respectively. Stabilizers of symmetric and half‐arc‐transitive graphs have been investigated by many authors. For example, see Tutte [Canad J Math 11 (1959), 621–624] and Conder and Maru?i? [J Combin Theory Ser B 88 (2003), 67–76]. It is trivial to construct connected tetravalent symmetric graphs with arbitrarily large stabilizers, and by Maru?i? [Discrete Math 299 (2005), 180–193], connected tetravalent half‐arc‐transitive graphs can have arbitrarily large stabilizers. In this article, we show that connected tetravalent half‐edge‐transitive graphs can also have arbitrarily large stabilizers. A Cayley graph Cay(G, S) on a group G is said to be normal if the right regular representation R(G) of G is normal in Aut(Cay(G, S)). There are only a few known examples of connected tetravalent non‐normal Cayley graphs on non‐abelian simple groups. In this article, we give a sufficient condition for non‐normal Cayley graphs and by using the condition, infinitely many connected tetravalent non‐normal Cayley graphs are constructed. The quenching problem is examined for a one‐dimensional heat equation with a non‐linear boundary condition that is of either local or non‐local type. Sufficient conditions are derived that establish both quenching and non‐quenching behaviour. The growth rate of the solution near quenching is also given for a power‐law non‐linearity. In the present paper the unique solvability of two non‐local problems for the mixed parabolic‐hyperbolic type equation with complex spectral parameter is proved. Sectors for values of the spectral parameter where these problems have unique solutions are shown. Uniqueness of the solution is proved by the method of energy integral and existence is proved by the method of integral equations. In 1983, the second author [D. Maru?i?, Ars Combinatoria 16B (1983), 297–302] asked for which positive integers n there exists a non‐Cayley vertex‐transitive graph on n vertices. (The term non‐Cayley numbers has later been given to such integers.) Motivated by this problem, Feng [Discrete Math 248 (2002), 265–269] asked to determine the smallest valency ?(n) among valencies of non‐Cayley vertex‐transitive graphs of order n. As cycles are clearly Cayley graphs, ?(n)?3 for any non‐Cayley number n. In this paper a goal is set to determine those non‐Cayley numbers n for which ?(n) = 3, and among the latter to determine those for which the generalized Petersen graphs are the only non‐Cayley vertex‐transitive graphs of order n. It is known that for a prime p every vertex‐transitive graph of order p, p2 or p3 is a Cayley graph, and that, with the exception of the Coxeter graph, every cubic non‐Cayley vertex‐transitive graph of order 2p, 4p or 2p2 is a generalized Petersen graph. In this paper the next natural step is taken by proving that every cubic non‐Cayley vertex‐transitive graph of order 4p2, p>7 a prime, is a generalized Petersen graph. This paper presents the Galerkin approximation of the optimization problem of a system governed by non‐linear second‐order evolution equation where a non‐linear operator depends on derivative of the state of the system. The control is acting on a non‐linear equation. After giving some results on the existence of optimal control we shall prove the existence of the weak and strong condensation points of a set of solutions of the approximate optimization problems. In this paper we show some non‐elementary speed‐ups in logic calculi: Both a predicative second‐order logic and a logic for fixed points of positive formulas are shown to have non‐elementary speed‐ups over first‐order logic. Also it is shown that eliminating second‐order cut formulas in second‐order logic has to increase sizes of proofs super‐exponentially, and the same in eliminating second‐order epsilon axioms. We consider one‐factorizations of K2n possessing an automorphism group acting regularly (sharply transitively) on vertices. We present some upper bounds on the number of one‐factors which are fixed by the group; further information is obtained when equality holds in these bounds. The case where the group is dihedral is studied in some detail, with some non‐existence statements in case the number of fixed one‐factors is as large as possible.
