The UV absorption, phosphorescence and phosphorescence‐excitation spectra of benzophenone (BP) derivatives used as organic UV absorbers have been observed in rigid solutions at 77 K. The triplet–triplet absorption spectra have been observed in acetonitrile at room temperature. The BP derivatives studied are 2,2′,4,4′‐tetrahydroxybenzophenone (BP‐2), 2‐hydroxy‐4‐methoxybenzophenone (BP‐3), 2,2′‐dihydroxy‐4,4′‐dimethoxybenzophenone (BP‐6), 5‐chloro‐2‐hydroxybenzophenone (BP‐7) and 2‐hydroxy‐4‐n‐octyloxybenzophenone (BP‐12). The energy levels and lifetimes of the lowest excited triplet (T1) states of these BP derivatives were determined from the first peak of phosphorescence. The time‐resolved near‐IR emission spectrum of singlet oxygen generated by photosensitization with BP‐7 was observed in acetonitrile at room temperature. BP‐2, BP‐3, BP‐6 and BP‐12 show photoinduced phosphorescence enhancement in ethanol at 77 K. The possible mechanism of the observed phosphorescence enhancement is discussed. The T1 states of 2‐hydroxy‐5‐methylbenzophenone, 4‐methoxybenzophenone and 2,4′‐dimethoxybenzophenone have been studied for comparison.  相似文献

The excited states of UV absorber, ethylhexyl methoxycrylene (EHMCR) have been studied through measurements of UV absorption, fluorescence, phosphorescence and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra in ethanol. The energy levels of the lowest excited singlet (S1) and triplet (T1) states of EHMCR were determined. The energy levels of the S1 and T1 states of EHMCR are much lower than those of photolabile 4‐tert‐butyl‐4′‐methoxydibenzoylmethane. The energy levels of the S1 and T1 states of EHMCR are lower than those of octyl methoxycinnamate. The weak phosphorescence and EPR Bmin signals were observed and the lifetime was estimated to be 93 ms. These facts suggest that the significant proportion of the S1 molecules undergoes intersystem crossing to the T1 state, and the deactivation process from the T1 state is predominantly radiationless. The photostability of EHMCR arises from the 3ππ* character in the T1 state. The zero‐field splitting (ZFS) parameter in the T1 state is D** = 0.113 cm?1.  相似文献

Room‐temperature long‐lived near‐IR phosphorescence of boron‐dipyrromethene (BODIPY) was observed (λem=770 nm, ΦP=3.5 %, τP=128.4 μs). Our molecular‐design strategy is to attach PtII coordination centers directly onto the BODIPY π‐core using acetylide bonds, rather than on the periphery of the BODIPY core, thus maximizing the heavy‐atom effect of PtII. In this case, the intersystem crossing (ISC) is facilitated and the radiative decay of the T1 excited state of BODIPY is observed, that is, the phosphorescence of BODIPY. The complex shows strong absorption in the visible range (ε=53800 M ?1 cm?1 at 574 nm), which is rare for PtII–acetylide complexes. The complex is dual emissive with 3M LCT emission at 660 nm and the 3IL emission at 770 nm. The T1 excited state of the complex is mainly localized on the BODIPY moiety (i.e. 3IL state, as determined by steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy, 77 K emission spectra, and spin‐density analysis). The strong visible‐light‐harvesting ability and long‐lived T1 excite state of the complex were used for triplet‐triplet annihilation based upconversion and an upconversion quantum yield of 5.2 % was observed. The overall upconversion capability (η=ε×ΦUC) of this complex is remarkable considering its strong absorption. The model complex, without the BODIPY moiety, gives no upconversion under the same experimental conditions. Our work paves the way for access to transition‐metal complexes that show strong absorption of visible light and long‐lived 3IL excited states, which are important for applications in photovoltaics, photocatalysis, and upconversions, etc.  相似文献

In this study, green phosphorescent Pt(II) complexes with N,N‐diphenyl‐6‐(1H‐pyrazol‐1‐yl)pyridin‐2‐amine (Ndpp) coordinated ligands, [Pt (Ndpp)Cl] 2a , [Pt (Ndpp)Pb, Pb = (prop‐1‐ynyl)benzene] 2b , and [Pt (Ndpp)CN] 2a? CN were theoretically investigated by means of density functional theory and time‐dependent density functional theory calculations to reveal their marked distinct phosphorescence quantum yields. These complexes exhibit evident absorption bands in the 200–450 nm region but emit strong green light with marked differences of phosphorescence quantum yields. Compared with the complex 2a , the complex 2b possesses large oscillator strengths of absorption spectra, strong spin‐orbit coupling, and transition electric dipole moment, as well as small singlet‐triplet splitting energies, which conduces to enhancing its radiative decay. To illustrate the nonradiative decay process, the transition state (TS) between the triplet metal‐centered (3MC) state and the excited state (T1) was optimized. The 3MC state is found to be the minimum energy crossing point (MECP) between the T1 state and the S0 state. Compared with the complex 2a , the complex 2b possesses a much larger energy barrier to the MECP state from the T1 state, so it is strongly emissive in the green region. Besides, the introduction of ? CN substitutions on 2a is useful for enhancing the energy barrier to the thermal deactivation pathway of 3MLCT → TS → MECP. These results demonstrate that the modification of metal–ligand conjugation is an effective way to develop high‐performance phosphorescent materials.  相似文献

An organic crystal of 4,4′‐bis(N‐carbazolyl)‐1,1′‐biphenyl (pCBP) exhibits time‐dependent afterglow color from blue to orange over 1 s. Both experimental and computational data confirm that the color evolution results from well‐separated, long‐persistent thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) and room‐temperature phosphorescence (RTP) with different but comparable decay rates. TADF is enabled by a small S1–T1 energy gap of 0.7 kcal mol?1. The good separation of TADF and RTP is due to a 11.8 kcal mol?1 difference in the S0 energies of the S1 and T1 structures, indicating that apart from the excited‐state properties, tuning the ground state is also important for luminescence properties. This afterglow color evolution of pCBP allows its applications in anticounterfeiting and data encryption with high security levels.  相似文献

This paper describes the results of a study of the photophysical properties of various methyl-angelicins (MA) in solvents of different polarity and proticity. The behavior of their excited singlet and triplet states was investigated by fluorometry and nanosecond laser flash photolysis. On the basis of semiempirical (ZINDO/S-CI) calculations and the solvent effect on the absorption and fluorescence properties, the lowest excited singlet state (S1) is assigned to a partially allowed π, π* state. The close lying S2 state is n,π* in nature. The efficiency of the decay pathways of S1 (fluorescence, intersystem crossing and internal conversion) strongly depends on the energy gap between the S1 and S2 states consistent with the manifestation of “proximity effect.” Thus, MA in cyclohexane decay only through S1→ S0 internal conversion, while in acetonitrile and ethanol, where the n, π* state is located at higher energy, their fluorescence and intersystem crossing increase significantly. The lowest excited triplet states (T1) were characterized in terms of their absorption spectra, decay kinetics, molar absorption coefficients and formation quantum yields. The interaction of T1 MA with molecular oxygen leads to an efficient formation of singlet oxygen, as evidenced by the appearance of characteristic IR phosphorescence centered at 1269 nm.  相似文献

The donor‐π‐conjugated‐acceptor (D‐π‐A) structure is an important design for the luminescent materials because of its diversity in the selections of donor, π‐bridge and acceptor groups. Herein, we demonstrate two examples of D‐π‐A structures capable to finely modulate the excited state properties and arrangement of energy levels, TPA‐AN‐BP and CZP‐AN‐BP , which possess the same acceptor and π‐bridge but different donor. The investigation of their photophysical properties and DFT calculation revealed that the D‐π‐A structure with proper donor, π‐bridge and acceptor can result in separation of frontier molecular orbitals on the corresponding donor and acceptor with an obvious overlap on the π‐bridge, resulting in a hybridized local and charge‐transfer (HLCT ) excited state with high photoluminescent (PL ) efficiencies. Meanwhile, their singlet and triplet states are arranged on corresponding moieties with large energy gap between T2 and T1 , and a small energy gap between S1 and T2 , which favor the reverse intersystem crossing (RISC ) from high‐lying triplet levels to singlet levels. As a result, the sky‐blue emission non‐doped OLED based on the TPA‐AN‐BP reached maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE ) of 4.39% and a high exciton utilization efficiency (EUE ) of 77%. This study demonstrates a new strategy to construct highly efficient OLED materials.  相似文献

To investigate the role of the excited triplet state in the deactivation process of 5-hydroxyflavone (5HF), the photophysical process of 5HF was studied by transient absorption, phosphorescence spectroscopies, and semiempirical calculations. The triplet–triplet absorption (T–T) spectra of 5HF and 5-methoxyflavone (5MF) were observed upon direct and triplet-sensitized excitation. The T–T spectrum of 5HF (λmax=350 nm, τT=2.8 μs) was different from that of 5MF (λmax=360 nm, τT=6.8 μs). Estimations of the triplet energies of 5HF and 5MF by quenching experiments, phosphorescence, and semiempirical (PM3/CI4) calculation revealed that 5HF underwent an intramolecular hydrogen atom transfer and formed the tautomer in the excited triplet state. The triplet energy of the normal form of 5HF was 260 kJ mol−1, while that of the tautomer form (5HF′) was 197 kJ mol−1. The triplet energy of 5MF, the model compound of the normal form of 5HF, was 261 kJ mol−1. The PM3/CI4 calculation supported the experimental observations and suggested that the most stable conformer in the triplet state of 5HF is the tautomer form.  相似文献

The blue‐light (BL) absorbing protein Xcc‐LOV from Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri is composed of a LOV‐domain, a histidine kinase (HK) and a response regulator. Spectroscopic characterization of Xcc‐LOV identified intermediates and kinetics of the protein's photocycle. Measurements of steady state and time‐resolved fluorescence allowed determination of quantum yields for triplet (ΦT = 0.68 ± 0.03) and photoproduct formation (Φ390 = 0.46 ± 0.05). The lifetime for triplet decay was determined as τT = 2.4–2.8 μs. Fluorescence of tryptophan and tyrosine residues was unchanged upon light‐to‐dark conversion, emphasizing the absence of significant conformational changes. Photochemistry was blocked upon cysteine C76 (C76S) mutation, causing a seven‐fold longer lifetime of the triplet state (τT = 16–18.5 μs). Optoacoustic spectroscopy yielded the energy content of the triplet state. Interestingly, Xcc‐LOV did not undergo the volume contraction reported for other LOV domains within the observation time window, although the back‐conversion into the dark state was accompanied by a volume expansion. A radioactivity‐based enzyme function assay revealed a larger HK activity in the lit than in the dark state. The C76S mutant showed a still lower enzyme function, indicating the dark state activity being corrupted by a remaining portion of the long‐lived lit state.  相似文献

Abstract— Pyrazinopsoralen (PzPs), a new monofunctional psoralen, has a UV absorption spectrum similar to other psoralens except that it absorbs more strongly in the long-UVA than 8-methoxypsoralen. The solvent effects on the UV absorption and fluorescence emission spectra indicate that the lowest excited singlet state is the π,π* state like other psoralen derivatives. It shows a much lower fluorescence quantum yield (0.0008 in ethanol at room temperature) than the other psoralens as expected by the increased proximity effect (vibronic perturbation) due to close 1(n,π*) to 1(π,π*) states. The fluorescence lifetime was 1.05 ns in methylcyclohexane with a single exponential decay, while more than two components were observed in other solvents with the short-lived component being the major (>95%). The triplet state of PzPs could not be detected by phosphorescence, laser flash excitation (T-T absorption) and singlet oxygen formation probably due to very low φisc, or short lifetime of the triplet state (τT) caused by the fast T1→ S0 intersystem crossing.  相似文献

A heteroleptic bis(tributylphosphine) platinum(II)‐alkynyl complex ( Pt‐1 ) showing broadband visible‐light absorption was prepared. Two different visible‐light‐absorbing ligands, that is, ethynylated boron‐dipyrromethene (BODIPY) and a functionalized naphthalene diimide (NDI) were used in the molecule. Two reference complexes, Pt‐2 and Pt‐3 , which contain only the NDI or BODIPY ligand, respectively, were also prepared. The coordinated BODIPY ligand shows absorption at 503 nm and fluorescence at 516 nm, whereas the coordinated NDI ligand absorbs at 594 nm; the spectral overlap between the two ligands ensures intramolecular resonance energy transfer in Pt‐1 , with BODIPY as the singlet energy donor and NDI as the energy acceptor. The complex shows strong absorption in the region 450 nm–640 nm, with molar absorption coefficient up to 88 000 M ?1 cm?1. Long‐lived triplet excited states lifetimes were observed for Pt‐1 – Pt‐3 (36.9 μs, 28.3 μs, and 818.6 μs, respectively). Singlet and triplet energy transfer processes were studied by the fluorescence/phosphorescence excitation spectra, steady‐state and time‐resolved UV/Vis absorption and luminescence spectra, as well as nanosecond time‐resolved transient difference absorption spectra. A triplet‐state equilibrium was observed for Pt‐1 . The complexes were used as triplet photosensitizers for triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion, with upconversion quantum yields up to 18.4 % being observed for Pt‐1 .  相似文献

C60–bodipy triads and tetrads based on the energy‐funneling effect that show broadband absorption in the visible region have been prepared as novel triplet photosensitizers. The new photosensitizers contain two or three different light‐harvesting antennae associated with different absorption wavelengths, resulting in a broad absorption band (450–650 nm). The panchromatic excitation energy harvested by the bodipy moieties is funneled into a spin converter (C60), thus ensuring intersystem crossing and population of the triplet state. Nanosecond time‐resolved transient absorption and spin density analysis indicated that the T1 state is localized on either C60 or the antennae, depending on the T1 energy levels of the two entities. The antenna‐localized T1 state shows a longer lifetime (τT=132.9 μs) than the C60‐localized T1 state (ca. 27.4 μs). We found that the C60 triads and tetrads can be used as dual functional photocatalysts, that is, singlet oxygen (1O2) and superoxide radical anion (O2 . ?) photosensitizers. In the photooxidation of naphthol to juglone, the 1O2 photosensitizing ability of the C60 triad is a factor of 8.9 greater than the conventional triplet photosensitizers tetraphenylporphyrin and methylene blue. The C60 dyads and triads were also used as photocatalysts for O2 . ?‐mediated aerobic oxidation of aromatic boronic acids to produce phenols. The reaction times were greatly reduced compared with when [Ru(bpy)3Cl2] was used as photocatalyst. Our study of triplet photosensitizers has shown that broadband absorption in the visible spectral region and long‐lived triplet excited states can be useful for the design of new heavy‐atom‐free organic triplet photosensitizers and for the application of these triplet photosensitizers in photo‐organocatalysis.  相似文献

Main chain polymeric benzophenone photoinitiator (PBP) was synthesized by using “Thiol‐ene Click Chemistry” and characterized with 1H NMR, FTIR, UV, and phosphorescence spectroscopies. PBP as a polymeric photoinitiator presented excellent absorption properties (ε294 = 28,300 mol?1L?1cm?1) compared to the molecular initiator BP (ε252 = 16,600 mol?1L?1cm?1). The triplet energy of PBP was obtained from the phosphorescence measurement in 2‐methyl tetrahydrofurane at 77 K as 298.3 kJ/mol and according to phosphorescence lifetime, the lowest triplet state of PBP has an n‐π* nature. Triplet–triplet absorption spectrum of PBP at 550 nm following laser excitation (355 nm) were recorded and triplet lifetime of PBP was found as 250 ns. The photoinitiation efficiency of PBP was determined for the polymerization of Hexanedioldiacrylate (HDDA) with PBP and BP in the presence of a coinitiator namely, N‐methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) by Photo‐DSC. The initiation efficiency of PBP for polymerization of HDDA is much higher than for the formulation consisting of BP. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2010  相似文献

Quasilinear absorption and luminescence spectra of 1,2-benzotetraphene were obtained in polycrystalline matrices at 77 K. Tne energies of successive excited singlet states as well as the energy of the lowest excited triplet state were found experimentally and compared with those calculated by the PPP CI method. The fluorescence lifetime and quantum yield were determined experimentally. Moreover, the radiationless transition probabilities, lifetime of triplet state and phosphorescence quantum yield were estimated employing the Siebrand-Williams model. The results obtained suggest that radiationless ISC processes are the main deactivation channel of the S1 and T1 states. The vibrational analysis of quasilinear absorption and luminescence spectra was performed and fundamental frequencies of ground and first excited singlet states were determined.  相似文献

The effect of intermolecular hydrogen bonding on the photophysical properties of N‐methyl‐1,8‐naphthalimide ( 2 ) has been investigated by time‐dependent density functional theory (TD‐DFT) method. The UV and IR spectra of 2 monomer and its hydrogen‐bonded complexes formed with 2,2,2‐trifluoroethanol (TFE) 2 +TFE and 2 +2TFE have been calculated, which confirm the presence of intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions between the carbonyl groups of the aromatic imide and the hydroxyl group of the polyfluorinated alcohol. The absorption and fluorescence intensities going from 2 monomer via hydrogen‐bonded complex 2 +TFE to 2 +2TFE were found to be gradually enhanced with the wavelength gradually red‐shifted. The enhancements of the fluorescence intensities from 2 monomer to hydrogen‐bonded complexes 2 +TFE and 2 +2TFE were attributed to the decrease of the intersystem crossing (ISC) efficiency from the first excited singlet state S1 1(ππ*) to the second excited triplet state T2 3(nπ*), whose energy was increased relative to its ground state due to the intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions.  相似文献

Acetic acid–based thioxanthone (TXCH2COOH) was synthesized and characterized and used as a photoinitiator for free radical photopolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in the absence and presence of a tertiary amine (MDEA) in different solvents. Different absorption properties were observed depending on the solvent. Fluorescence and phosphorescence experiments were also carried out successfully. The fluorescence quantum yield was found to be 0.09 and the phosphorescence lifetime was calculated as 138 ms at 77 K. The photoinitiator undergoes efficient intersystem crossing into the triplet state and the lowest triplet state possesses ππ* configuration. Laser flash photolysis experiments show that transient absorption of TXCH2COOH is similar to the parent thioxanthone and the triplet lifetime was calculated as 2.3 μs at 630 nm.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of the natural antioxidant quercetin on the photostability of the most widely used combination of UVA (320–400 nm) and UVB (290–320 nm) filters, respectively butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (BMDBM) and octyl methoxycinnamate (OMC). In order to reproduce the conditions prevalent in commercial sunscreen products, the stabilizing efficacy of quercetin was evaluated in model creams containing BMDBM (3%, wt/wt) together with OMC (4%, wt/wt) and exposed to a solar simulator at an irradiance corresponding to natural sunlight. Quercetin was found to enhance the photostability of the two UV filters in a concentration-dependent way. Addition of quercetin to the sunscreen formulation significantly reduced the photodegradation of BMDBM and OMC from 40.3 ± 2.4 to 27.7 ± 2.6% and from 51.3 ± 2.1 to 42.2 ± 2.0%, respectively. Moreover, comparative photodegradation studies demonstrated that quercetin was much more effective and at a lower concentration than commonly used stabilizer (octocrylene) and antioxidants (vitamin E, butylated hydroxyanisole). In vitro determination of the UVB and UVA protection parameters showed that the quercetin-based formulation fulfilled the official requirements on sunscreen products. Because of its photostabilizing and multiple antioxidant properties, quercetin represents a useful additive for the formulation of effective broad-spectrum sunscreens containing BMDBM and OMC.  相似文献

Previous studies of perylenediimides (PDIs) mostly utilized the lowest singlet excited state S1. Generation of a triplet excited state (T1) in PDIs is important for applications ranging from photodynamic therapy to photovoltaics; however, it remains a formidable task. Herein, we developed a heavy‐atom‐free strategy to prompt the T1←S1 intersystem crossing (ISC) by introducing electron‐donating aryl (Ar) groups at the head positions of an electron‐deficient perylenediimide (PDI) core. We found that the ISC efficiency increases from 8 to 54 % and then to 86 % by increasing the electron‐donating ability of head‐substituted aryl groups from phenyl (p‐PDI) to methoxyphenyl (MeO‐PDI) and then to methylthioxyphenyl (MeS‐PDI). By enhancing the intramolecular charge‐transfer (ICT) interaction from p‐PDI to MeO‐PDI, and then to MeS‐PDI, singlet oxygen generation via energy‐transfer reactions from T1 of PDIs to 3O2 was demonstrated with the highest yield of up to 80 %. These results provide guidelines for developing new triplet‐generating PDIs and related rylene diimides for optoelectronic applications.  相似文献

Pure organic materials with ultralong room‐temperature phosphorescence (RTP) are attractive alternatives to inorganic phosphors. However, they generally show inefficient intersystem crossing (ISC) owing to weak spin–orbit coupling (SOC). A design principle based on the realization of small energy gap between the lowest singlet and triplet states (ΔEST) and pure ππ* configuration of the lowest triplet state (T1) via structural isomerism was used to obtain efficient and ultralong RTP materials. The meta isomer of carbazole‐substituted methyl benzoate exhibits an ultralong lifetime of 795.0 ms with a quantum yield of 2.1 %. Study of the structure–property relationship shows that the varied steric and conjugation effects imposed by ester substituent at different positions are responsible for the small ΔEST and pure ππ* configuration of T1.  相似文献
