In the paper an optogalvanic experiment is described. A tunable dye laser irradiates discharge plasma in neon and the change of the plasma density is measured by microwave technique. The paper describes also the theoretical method which gives the change of the plasma impedance in relation to the measured signal. Finally the measuring method, the theoretical predictions for optimizing the method and the proposed approximations were experimentally checked.  相似文献

Recent studies of thermal roughening on Si surfaces and kinetic roughening of some growing films, copper and tungsten, by using scanning tunneling microscopy and atomic force microscopy are reviewed. A logarithmic divergence of the surface height fluctuations of Si(111) vicinal surfaces is confirmed, in agreement with the theoretical prediction of rough surface in thermal equilibrium. For the kinetically formed rough surfaces, power law dependences of the interface width on the system size are clearly observed. Furthermore, the tungsten films show a short-range scaling regime and a long-range “smooth” regime. The roughness exponents α are compared with theoretical predictions: for the typical Cu electrode position condition (α=1/2), the exponent appears to be close to that found for local growth models, and for tungsten films (0.7~0.8), it is consistent with recent predictions for growth where surface diffusion is predominant.  相似文献

 在发生冲击熔化的情况下,金属样品/窗口界面压力下的熔化温度与卸载温度数值相等,且十分接近于界面温度值。根据这一结论,利用二级轻气炮加载手段和光辐射法测温技术,用氟化锂(LiF)单晶作透明窗口,获得了110~140 GPa压力范围内无氧铜的熔化温度。实验表明,无氧铜的高压熔化温度数据与文献发表的无氧铜高压声速实验结果是一致的,铜的高压熔化规律可用Lindemann熔化定律近似描述。采用的熔化温度测量方法不必反演出冲击温度,简化了冲击熔化温度的数据处理方法,为金属冲击熔化温度测量提供了一种潜在的技术途径。  相似文献

We report the low-temperature multifrequency ESR studies of copper pyrimidine dinitrate, a spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic chain with alternating g tensor and the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, allowing us to test a new theoretical concept proposed recently by Oshikawa and Affleck [Phys. Rev. Lett. 82, 5136 (1999)]. Their theory, based on bosonization and self-energy formalism, can be applied for precise calculation of ESR parameters of S=1/2 antiferromagnetic chains in the perturbative spinon regime. Excellent quantitative agreement between the theoretical predictions and experiment is obtained.  相似文献

We present a new pump-probe mode-mismatched thermal lens method for pulse excitation aimed to the measurement of nonlinear absorption coefficient in optical materials. We develop a theoretical model based on the Fresnel diffraction approximation and their predictions are verified experimentally with samples of Rhodamine 6G and Rhodamine B in ethanol solution. The principal advantage of this technique is that it does not require any mechanical movement during measurement. Below we perform the new type of thermal lens experiment in the pulse regime for the measurement of nonlinear absorption coefficient in transparent samples and we demonstrate the validity of theoretical predictions using an alternative method to the classical thermal lens technique.  相似文献

With the aim of understanding the thermal stability of binary immiscible metallic multilayers, we propose a generally size-dependent thermodynamic criterion for determining the interface alloying in multilayers, with respect to the size-dependent interface energy of binary metal systems. Taking the copper/tungsten bilayer as an example, we obtain the interfacial alloying phase diagram based on the proposed thermodynamic model. Our theoretical predictions are consistent with experiments, implying that the size-dependent thermodynamic criterion of the thermal stability could be expected to be applicable to many multilayers.  相似文献

We report on a new measurement of the parity-violating asymmetry in quasielastic electron scattering from the deuteron at backward angles at Q2=0.038 (GeV/c)2. This quantity provides a determination of the neutral weak axial vector form factor of the nucleon, which can potentially receive large electroweak corrections. The measured asymmetry A=-3.51+/-0.57 (stat)+/-0.58 (syst) ppm is consistent with theoretical predictions. We also report on updated results of the previous experiment at Q2=0.091 (GeV/c)2, which are also consistent with theoretical predictions.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to validate the kilovoltage X‐ray energy spectrum on the ID17 beamline at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). The purpose of such validation was to provide an accurate energy spectrum as the input to a computerized treatment planning system, which will be used in synchrotron microbeam radiotherapy trials at the ESRF. Calculated and measured energy spectra on ID17 have been reported previously but recent additions and safety modifications to the beamline for veterinary trials warranted a fresh investigation. The authors used an established methodology to compare X‐ray attenuation measurements in copper sheets (referred to as half value layer measurements in the radiotherapy field) with the predictions of a theoretical model. A cylindrical ionization chamber in air was used to record the relative attenuation of the X‐ray beam intensity by increasing thicknesses of high‐purity copper sheets. The authors measured the half value layers in copper for two beamline configurations, which corresponded to differing spectral conditions. The authors obtained good agreement between the measured and predicted half value layers for the two beamline configurations. The measured first half value layer was 1.754 ± 0.035 mm Cu and 1.962 ± 0.039 mm Cu for the two spectral conditions, compared with theoretical predictions of 1.763 ± 0.039 mm Cu and 1.984 ± 0.044 mm Cu, respectively. The calculated mean energies for the two conditions were 105 keV and 110 keV and there was not a substantial difference in the calculated percentage depth dose curves in water between the different spectral conditions. The authors observed a difference between their calculated energy spectra and the spectra previously reported by other authors, particularly at energies greater than 100 keV. The validation of the beam spectrum by the copper half value layer measurements means the authors can provide an accurate spectrum as an input to a treatment planning system for the forthcoming veterinary trials of microbeam radiotherapy to spontaneous tumours in cats and dogs.  相似文献

An experiment is performed to measure acoustic scattering from scale modelled ice ridges in both specular (forward) and non-specular (backward) directions, for comparison with predictions from theoretical models. The experiment uses a 100 kHz transmitter emitting sinusoidal bursts. An array of miniature transducers is used to measure the scattered field as a function of scattering angle. Experimental results are obtained for scattering from different types of rods simulating ice ridges, and also the reflection coefficient from an acrylic block. The results show good agreement with the Twersky model predictions. This experiment establishes an effective technique, using scale models in the laboratory, to compare theoretical predictions and field experimental data.  相似文献

We report on experimental test of a 7.8 GHz power extractor using a dielectric loaded rectangular waveguide structure. This work is conducted at the Argonne wakefield accelerator (AWA) facility. The wakefield is excited by an electron beam travelling through a dielectric loaded rectangular waveguide, and the generated rf power is then subsequently extracted with a properly designed rf coupler. In the experiment, 30 MW of output power is excited by a 66nC single electron bunch, and wakefield superposition by a train consisting of four bunches is also demonstrated. Both the results agree well with theoretical predictions.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the frequencies and linewidths of the Raman-active longitudinal optical (LO) phonons in GaAs and AlAs have been measured. The low-temperature lifetime of the LO phonon in AlAs is found to be 9.7 ps, very close to the corresponding GaAs value of 9.5 ps. This contradicts early theoretical predictions. The agreement between theory and experiment can be restored when the accidental degeneracy between the AlAs LO phonon frequency and a feature in the two-phonon density of states is taken into account.  相似文献

In a quantum mechanical two-slit experiment one can observe a single photon simultaneously as particle (measuring the path) and as wave (measuring the interference pattern) if the path and the interference pattern are measured in the sense of unsharp observables. Dynamic deformation of copper single crystals, especially of fatigued copper single crystals with different orientations, was conducted on a split-Hopkinson pressure bar apparatus. The strain rates were in the range 2???9?×?103?s?1. After dynamic deformation, the adiabatic shear bands (ASBs) were examined in a light microscope and SEM. The width and spacing of ASBs formed under different strain rates in a fatigued copper single crystal were measured and the spacing of ASBs is one-order of magnitude smaller than the theoretical predictions. The possible reasons for the discrepancy were discussed. The critical strains for the ASB formation in four different orientated single crystals at stain rate of about 4?×?103?s?1 were determined by examining the post-deformation specimens and dynamic stress–strain curves. It is clearly indicated that the critical strains for the ASB formation are orientation-dependent in copper single crystals. A simple microscopic mechanism for ASB formation in fatigued single crystals was proposed.  相似文献

Double-spin asymmetries in the cross section of electroproduction of and mesons on the proton and deuteron are measured at the HERMES experiment. The photoabsorption asymmetry in exclusive electroproduction on the proton exhibits a positive tendency. This is consistent with theoretical predictions that the exchange of an object with unnatural parity contributes to exclusive electroproduction by transverse photons. The photoabsorption asymmetry on the deuteron is found to be consistent with zero. Double-spin asymmetries in and meson electroproduction by quasi-real photons were also found to be consistent with zero; the asymmetry in the case of the meson is compatible with a theoretical prediction which involves knockout from the nucleon. We present the first experimental determination of the 2(3)P(1)-1(1)S0 transition rate in helium and compare this measurement with theoretical quantum-electrodynamic predictions. The experiment exploits the very long (approximately 1 minute) confinement times obtained for atoms magneto-optically trapped in an apparatus used to create a Bose-Einstein condensate of metastable (2(3)S1) helium. The 2(3)P(1)-1(1)S0 transition rate is measured directly from the decay rate of the cold atomic cloud following 1083 nm laser excitation from the 2(3)S1 to the 2(3)P1 state, and from accurate knowledge of the 2(3)P1 population. The value obtained is 177+/-8 s(-1), which agrees very well with theoretical predictions, and has an accuracy that compares favorably with measurements for the same transition in heliumlike ions higher in the isoelectronic sequence.  相似文献

The power of several coherent laser beams can be transferred into a single diffraction-limited signal beam by photorefractive coupling. The efficiency of the power transfer is investigated experimentally in the case of two pump beams. Two different geometrical arrangements, one with overlapping (simultaneous) and the other with separate (sequential) pump beams are compared in a BaTiO3:Ce crystal, with diffusion-driven photorefraction. We measured about the same power transfer efficiency in both arrangements for strong signal beams, but the efficiency was higher in the sequential arrangement for weak signals. A simple theoretical model of the power transfer process based on the standard linear two-wave-mixing theory is presented and the observed stationary beam-coupling behavior for different pump-to-signal intensity ratios is found to be in qualitative agreement with the theoretical predictions. The laser-induced thermal force that traps a bubble in an absorbing liquid is studied theoretically and experimentally. The force origins from the thermal gradients of the surface tension induced by a laser beam over the bubble surface. It is shown that this force is proportional to the square of the bubble radius and to the thermal gradient of the surface tension. A simple experimental method based on comparison with the Archimedes' flotation force, is used for the measurement of this force. The experimental results, performed on ethanol solutions of iodine, confirm the theoretical predictions.  相似文献

In this work, we consider the critical force required to unzip two different naturally occurring sequences of double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) at temperatures ranging from 20 °C to 50 °C, where one of the sequences has a 53% average guanine-cytosine (GC) content and the other has a 40% GC content. We demonstrate that the force required to separate the dsDNA of the 53% GC sequence into single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) is approximately 0.5 pN, or approximately 5% greater than the critical force required to unzip the 40% GC sequence at the same temperature. In the temperature range between 20 and 40 °C the measured critical forces correspond reasonably well to predictions based on a simple theoretical homopolymeric model, but at temperatures above 40 °C the measured critical forces are much smaller than the predicted forces. The correspondence between theory and experiment is not improved by using Monte Carlo simulations that consider the heteropolymeric nature of the sequences.  相似文献
