Novel dense composite adsorbents for expanded bed adsorption of protein have been fabricated by coating 4% agarose gel onto Nd-Fe-B alloy powder by a water-in-oil emulsification method. Two composite matrices, namely Nd-Fe-B alloy-densified agarose (NFBA) gels with different size distributions and densities, NFBA-S (50-165 microm, 1.88 g/ml) and NFBA-L (140-300 microm, 2.04 g/ml), were produced. Lysozyme was used as a model protein to test the adsorption capacity and kinetics for the NFBA gels modified by Cibacron blue 3GA (CB-NFBA gels). Liquid-phase dispersion behavior in the expanded beds was examined by measurements of residence time distributions, and compared with that of Streamline SP (Amersham-Pharmacia Biotech, Sweden). The dependence of axial mixing in the expanded beds on flow velocity, bed expansion degree. settled bed height, and viscosity of liquid phase was investigated. Breakthrough curves of lysozyme in the expanded beds of the CB-NFBA gels were also examined. The dynamic binding capacity at 5% breakthrough was 23.3 mg/ml matrix for the CB-NFBA-S gels, and 16.7 mg/ml matrix for the CB-NFBA-L, at a flow velocity of 220 cm/h. The results indicate that the NFBA gels are promising for expanded bed adsorption of proteins.  相似文献

The formation of stable water-in-crude oil emulsions during petroleum production and refinery may create sever and costly separation problems. It is very important to understand the mechanism and factors contributing to the formation and stabilization of such emulsions for both great economic and environmental development. This article investigates some of the factors controlling the stability of water-in-crude oil emulsions formed in Burgan oil field in Kuwait. Water-in-crude oil emulsion samples collected from Burgan oil filed have been used to separate asphaltenes, resins, waxes, and crude oil fractions. These fractions were used to prepare emulsion samples to study the effect of solid particles (Fe3O4) on the stability of emulsions samples. Results indicate that high solid content lead to higher degree of emulsion stability. Stability of emulsion samples under various waxes to asphaltenes (W/A) ratios have also been tested. These tests showed that at low W/A content, the emulsions were very stable. While at a wax to asphaltene ratio above 1 to 1, the addition of wax reduced emulsion stability. Stability of emulsion samples with varying amount of water cut has also been investigated. Results indicated that stability and hence viscosity of emulsion increases as a function of increasing the water cut until it reaches the inversion point where a sharp decline in viscosity takes place. This inversion point was found to be approximately at 50% water cut for the crude oils considered in this study.  相似文献

The nature of layers formed by cellulose nanofibrils that had been surface modified (hydrophobized) at the oil/water (o/w) interface was investigated. The aim of the study was to clarify the mechanism underlying the excellent ability of these nanoparticles to stabilize emulsions. Layers of hydrophobized nanofibrillated cellulose spread at the o/w interface were deposited on glass slides by the Langmuir-Blodgett deposition technique. Overall evaluation of layer structures was performed by image analysis based on a Quadtree decomposition of images obtained from a flatbed scanner. A more detailed characterization of the layer structures was performed by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM). The results show that nanofibrils that were able to stabilize emulsions occur as single, dispersed fibrils or form large, network-like aggregates at the o/w interface. Fibrils that were insufficiently hydrophobized and therefore did not stabilize emulsions were only partially deposited and formed small, compact aggregates. We conclude that it is likely that the network formation is the main mechanism by which the fibrils prevent coalescence of emulsion droplets.  相似文献

Macroporous polystyrene microsphere/graphene oxide(PS/GO) composite monolith was first prepared using Pickering emulsion droplets as the soft template. The Pickering emulsion was stabilized by PS/GO composite particles in-situ formed in an acidic water phase. With the evaporation of water and the oil phase(octane), the Pickering emulsion droplets agglomerated and combined with each other, forming a three-dimensional macroporous PS/GO composite matrix with excellent mechanical strength. The size of the macrospores ranged from 4 mm to 20 mm. The macroporous PS/GO composite monolith exhibited high adsorption capacity for tetracycline(TC) in an aqueous solution at p H 4–6. The maximum adsorption capacity reached 197.9 mg g 1at p H 6. The adsorption behaviour of TC fitted well with the Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. This work offers a simple and efficient approach to fabricate macroporous GO-based monolith with high strength and adsorption ability for organic pollutants.  相似文献

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOFMS) with nonpolar matrices has been investigated for its applicability to the characterization of atmospheric resid crude oil fractions. The data obtained by use of nonpolar matrices was compared with that from polar matrices as well as from direct LDI-MS and field ionization mass spectrometry. Nonpolar matrices, such as anthracene or 9-cyanoanthracene, yield only a single radical molecular cation upon LDI. Thus, no interfering matrix-related ions are present during the MALDI-TOFMS analysis of the crude oil sample. Nonpolar matrices yield molecular mass distributions from linear mode MALDI-TOFMS that are comparable to distributions found with LDI-MS. An advantage of nonpolar matrices is the increased production of analyte ions, which allows reflectron mode MALDI-TOFMS to be performed. Nonpolar matrices are also shown to be less sensitive to solvent and sample preparation conditions than conventional polar matrices. These results suggest that nonpolar matrices may be favorable alternatives to more traditional polar or acidic matrices commonly used in the MALDI mass spectral characterization of crude oil related samples.  相似文献

The structure and the sorption properties of partially hydrophobized silicates (dodecylammonium and dodecyldiammonium vermiculites) have been investigated in aqueous solutions of 1-butanol. The alcohol is preferentially adsorbed on the surface. The interlayer composition is calculated from adsorption and x-ray diffraction data. In air-dried state the organic cations lie flat on the interlamellar surface. In aqueous butanol solutions, the basal spacing of dodecylammonium vermiculite gradually increases with the extent of butanol adsorption because the chains increasingly point away from the surface. The basal spacing of dodecyldiammonium vermiculite is virtually independent on the interlayer composition because the expansion of the interlayer space is sterically restricted and a relatively rigid structure is formed. The enthalpy of the displacement of water by 1-butanol has been determined by flow sorption microcalorimetry. The displacement process is endothermic.  相似文献

基于工业蛭石优异的热膨胀性及阳离子交换性,利用化学-微波法制备高膨胀率膨胀蛭石(HEV),采用对比分析法对亚甲基蓝(MB)的吸附性能进行了研究。结果表明,HEV膨胀率高(膨胀率K=60倍),比表面积大(80 m^2·g^-1),孔径主要分布在2~5 nm之间,仍保持蛭石、水金云母和金云母的物相结构,阳离子交换容量由原样的0.835 mmol·g^-1增加到1.005 mmol·g^-1。HEV对MB的吸附容量受MB初始浓度、吸附时间、溶液pH和吸附温度影响。当MB溶液初始浓度为300 mg·L-1、吸附时间为240 min、溶液pH值为9、吸附温度为298 K时,吸附量为419.87 mg·g^-1,远高于蛭石原矿。吸附过程符合Langmuir模型与准二级动力学模型,为单分子层吸附和吸附势垒较低的自发无序吸热反应过程。HEV具有优异的阳离子交换性和吸附性,是一种具有开发价值的高效低成本吸附剂。  相似文献

A new strategy to synthesize a highly efficient CO(2) capturer by incorporating tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA) into as-synthesized MCM-41 (AM) is reported. The amine guest can be distributed in the micelle of the support, forming a web within the mesopore to trap CO(2) molecules and resulting in a high adsorption capacity for CO(2) up to 237 mg g(-1). Four samples of the as-synthesized MCM-41 with a different amount or type of surfactant are employed as supports to investigate the influence of micelles on the CO(2) adsorption, and the spokelike structure of the micelle in the channel of the support is proven to be essential to the distribution of guest amine. Among these supports, the AM sample is the most competitive due to the advantages of energy and time saving in preparation of the support along with the resulting higher CO(2) adsorption capacity. At the optimal loading of 50 wt % TEPA, the AM-50 sample exhibits a high adsorption capacity of 183 mg g(-1) in the sixth adsorption cycle at 5 % CO(2) concentration.  相似文献

 Adsorption of n-butanol and water from butanol–water mixtures is studied on adsorbents of different hydrophobicity (activated carbon and hydrophobized montmorillonites). The shape of the adsorption isotherms of the hydrophobized clay minerals does not indicate preferential adsorption of butanol. Therefore, the adsorption capacity cannot be determined on the basis of the Langmuir isotherm. A new equation for determining the adsorption capacity is derived by combining the free enthalpy of adsorption with the adsorption excess amount. Both collections of data are obtained from the surface excess isotherm. The reliability of the adsorption capacity is checked by X-ray diffraction measurements. Oil-in-water emulsion is an innovate manner by which heavy crude oil can be transported from producing sites to transforming sites through pipelines. The effect of emulsifier on the interfacial properties and demulsification performance of demulsifier for heavy crude oil–in-water emulsion has been studied by many researchers. However, the influence of asphaltene in heavy crude oil on the interfacial properties of demulsifier has not been investigated yet. In this article, the influence of asphaltene concentration of two typical demulsifiers (straight-chained SP-1 and branch-chained AE-1) was systematically studied in terms of absorption thermodynamics, absorption kinetics, and coalescence kinetics. The results revealed that the demulsifier adsorption was a ΔS controlled spontaneous process. The absolute value of ΔG of SP-1 adsorption was found to decrease with asphaltene concentration, whilst the asphaltene concentration had no significant influence on that of AE-1. With the increase of asphaltene concentration, the demulsifiers’ adsorption rates increased, but the reorganization rates on the interface decreased. Coalescence speed of asphaltene droplet decreased with asphaltene concentration in spite of demulsifier type. Additionally, AE-1 had higher absolute value of ΔG, adsorption speed, and coalescence speed than that of SP-1 at the same condition.  相似文献

A microwave-assisted solvent extraction (MASE) method for the determination of methabenzthiazuron (MBT) in soil samples by HPLC-DAD (diode array detection) was evaluated. Spiked soil samples having different physico-chemical properties, and selected soil-derived matrices with diverse MBT adsorption capacity, characterized by their Freundlich equation Kf values, were used to verify the method applicability to a broad range of different soils. The spiking procedure was considered a crucial point to reproduce as closely as possible the solute-soil adsorption taking place in the natural environment. Ageing effects, where the compound could diffuse into inaccessible locations within the soil matrix in view of its great stability, were considered of particular concern. In spite of the heterogeneous physico-chemical properties of soils under study, recoveries were greater than 90%. Performance of the MASE procedure correlated highly with the adsorption capacity of soil-derived matrices: the lowest recoveries were for illite (67-73%), among the mineral surfaces, and for a humic acid (67-72%), among the organic fractions. Intra-assay variation for each type of sample soil range from 0.40 to 3.89%(RSD). Limits of detection and quantification were 0.047 and 0.15 microg g(-1), respectively. Analyte residence time was not a very significant factor on the extractability.  相似文献

Novel Chitosan-g-Octanal Schiff base amphiphilic polymer has been developed by click grafting technique and evaluated successfully in removing different types of oils spills. The chemical structure and the morphological changes of the developed Chitosan-g-Octanal Schiff base amphiphilic polymer have been followed using FT-IR spectroscopy and SEM. The amphiphilic character of the developed Chitosan-g-Octanal Schiff base polymer has been controlled through variations of the Octanal grafting percentages from 38% to 82%. Dramatic changes of the Chitosan-g-Octanal Schiff base polymer solubility have been founded. The ion exchange capacity and water uptake have been affected in the same manner. The oils adsorption capacity was founded in direct relation to the Octanal grafting percentages and followed the order: mineral < kerosene < diesel < light crude oil (LCO) < heavy crude oil (HCO). Operational conditions such as oil amount, adsorption time, adsorbent dose, and agitation speed have been studied. The oil adsorption capacity of the Chitosan-g-Octanal Schiff base polymer for light and heavy crude oil has been increased by 167% and 110% over Chitosan ones. Finally, the removal process is optimized using response surface methodology (RSM).  相似文献

研究了蛭石对结晶紫的吸附特性,考察了溶液pH值、吸附剂用量、搅拌时间、结晶紫浓度、温度对吸附平衡的影响。结果表明,室温下溶液pH=6,蛭石用量为0.2000 g时蛭石对结晶紫的吸附效果最佳,吸附率超过94%。拟二级速率方程能很好地描述蛭石对结晶紫的吸附动力学,相关系数(R2)达到0.9996。不同温度下蛭石对结晶紫的吸附等温线均符合Langmuir方程,相关系数(R2)都在0.9898以上。吉布斯自由能变化△G0,且随着温度升高,吸附量增大,表明该反应是自发进行的吸热反应。  相似文献

Ordered mesoporous silica material was synthesized from a low-cost precursor, sugarcane leaf ash, was used as a support matrix for lipase for the production of biodiesel. The mesoporous samples were characterized using Fourier transform infra red spectroscopy. The surface topography and morphology of the mesoporous materials were studied using scanning electron microscope. The pore diameter, pore volume, Brunauer Emmett and Teller surface area of the mesoporous material were determined by N2 gas adsorption technique. Different pore size Santa Barbara Acid-15 (SBA-15) samples were synthesized and their lipase immobilization capacity and specific enzyme activity of immobilization lipase were determined and compared. Lipase from Candida Antarctica immobilized on SBA-15 (C) had shown maximum percentage immobilization and specific enzyme activity. The immobilized lipase mesoporous matrix was used for biodiesel production from crude non-edible Calophyllum inophyllum oil. The percentage yield of fatty acid methyl ester, 97.6 % was obtained under optimized conditions: 100 mg of lipase immobilized on SBA-15, 6:1 methanol to oil molar ratio, the reaction of 2 g C. inophyllum oil with methanol.  相似文献

Preparation and adsorption specificity of tannins immobilized by covalent binding on water-insoluble matrices were investigated. Immobilized tannins were prepared by condensing cyanogen bromide activated tannins with aminohexyl derivatives of several kinds of matrices. The most suitable matrix for the immobilization of tannin was alkali-treated cellulose powder. The concentration of sodium hydroxide solution for alkali treatment influenced the adsorption capacity of immobilized tannin for a protein, but temperature and time for alkali treatment did not. Immobilized tannins having spacers of long chain length exhibited high adsorption capacity for a protein. Chinese gallotannin was the most favorable ligand for protein adsorption. The immobilization of tannin on aminohexyl matrices was also possible by using epichlorohydrin instead of cyanogen bromide. The maximum adsorption capacity of the immobilized tannin for a protein was about 50 mg/ml of the absorbent. Immobilized tannin adsorbed proteins specifically but did not absorb low molecular weight compounds.  相似文献

An “oil in water” formulation was optimized to determine chromium in heavy crude oil (HCO) and bitumen-in-water emulsion (Orimulsion-400®) samples by transversally heated electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (TH-ET AAS) using Zeeman effect background correction. The optimum proportion of the oil-water mixture ratio was 7:3 v/v (70 ml of oil as the internal phase) with a non-ionic surfactant concentration (Intan-100) in the emulsion of 0.2% w/w. Chromium was determined in different crude oil samples after dilution of the emulsions 1:9 v/v with a 0.2% w/w solution of surfactant in order to further reduce the viscosity from 100 to 1.6 cP and at the same time to bring the concentration of chromium within the working range of the ET AAS technique. The calibration graph was linear from 1.7 to 100 μg Cr l−1. The sensitivity was of 0.0069 s l μg−1, the characteristic mass (mo) was of 5.7 pg per 0.0044 s and the detection limit (3σ) was of 0.52 μg l−1. The relative standard deviation of the method, evaluated by replicate analyses of three crude oil samples varied in all cases between 1.5 and 2.6%. Recovery studies were performed on four Venezuelan crude oils, and the average chromium recovery values varied between 95.9-104.8, 90.6-107.6, 95.6-104.0 and 98.8-103.9% for the Cerro Negro, Crudo Hamaca and Boscán crude oils and for the Orimulsión®-400, respectively. The results obtained in this work for the Cerro Negro, Crudo Hamaca and Boscán crude oils and for the Orimulsión®-400 following the proposed procedure were of 0.448±0.008, 0.338±0.004 0.524±0.021 and 0.174±0.008 mg Cr l−1, respectively, which were in good agreement with the values obtained by a tedious recommended standard procedure (respectively: 0.470±0.05, 0.335±0.080, 0.570±0.021 and 0.173±0.009 mg Cr l−1).  相似文献

In many oil production sites water injection is used as a piston to push the crude out of the well. As the age of the field progresses, the ratio of water to oil produced increases. Agitation of a water and crude oil mixture may give stable water-in-oil emulsion in which the water remains dispersed for a long period of time. These emulsions can cause severe problems in production and transport processes since they normally possess high stability and viscosity. The most important water properties which may contribute to the emulsion stability include pH and additive content. In this study, we report on the effect of both, water pH and the presence of surfactant molecules (anionic, cationic or non-ionic) on the stability of an Algerian crude oil (Haoudh el Hamra well) aqueous emulsion prepared by a mechanical agitation procedure. The stability was followed by the test-bottle method to measure the resolved water separated from the emulsion, and optical microscopy to visualize the dispersed water droplets in the oil phase. The results of the effects of varying the aqueous-phase pH suggest that the neutral medium is more efficient than acidic or basic environment for stabilizing the emulsions. The addition of non-ionic surfactants has a better potential to improve crude oil emulsion stability with respect to both cationic and anionic surfactants which do not show any improvement in the oil/water phase compatibility.  相似文献

This study reports experimental measurements investigating the ability of a biological (rhamnolipid) and a synthetic (sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS) surfactant to remove the North Sea Ekofisk crude oil from various soils with different particle size fractions under varying washing conditions. The washing parameters and ranges tested were as follows: temperature (5 to 50 degrees C), time (5 to 20 min), shaking speed (80 to 200 strokes/min), volume (5 to 20 cm3), and surfactant concentration (0.004 to 5 mass%). The contaminated soils were prepared in the laboratory by mixing crude oil and soils using a rotating cylindrical mixer. Two contamination cases were considered: (1) weathered contamination was simulated by keeping freshly contaminated soils in a fan assisted oven at 50 degrees C for 14 days, mimicking the weathering effect in a natural hot environment, and (2) nonweathered contamination which was not subjected to the oven treatment. The surfactants were found to have considerable potential in removing crude oil from different contaminated soils and the results were comparable with those reported in literature for petroleum hydrocarbons. The removal of crude oil with either rhamnolipid or SDS was within the repeatability range of +/-6%. The most influential parameters on oil removal were surfactant concentration and washing temperature. The soil cation exchange capacity and pH also influenced the removal of crude oil from the individual soils. However, due to the binding of crude oil to soil during weathering, low crude oil removal was achieved with the weathered contaminated soil samples.  相似文献

The present paper proposes the emulsification of weathered crude oils in water as a competitive and cost effective method for reducing their viscosities. Weathered crude oil samples were collected from major Kuwaiti oil lakes. Emulsion preparation involved using, either a nonionic surfactant or alkali, as well as both alkali and fatty acid. The obtained emulsions were characterized by measuring the droplet size distribution of the dispersed phase using optical microscopy. Emulsion stability was also examined in terms of the system breakdown. The rheological properties were measured using a concentric cylinder rotary rheometer. The emulsion rheological behavior has been studied as a function of composition, temperature, and shear rate. A constitutive model was developed to characterize the pseudoplastic behavior of the crude oil and the emulsion systems. The model fitted well the experimental results with a correlation coefficient higher than 95%. Associated with the pseudoplastic behavior, viscoelastic behavior has been observed with emulsions and some oils at high shear rates.

The results of this investigation indicated that the examined weathered crude oils can be transported through pipelines as emulsions of up to 80 vol.% oil concentrations. The proposed method of treatment with NaOH and oleic acid offers several advantages over the surfactant treatment. It exhibited comparable rheological behavior at lower cost and less mixing energy. It also provided higher emulsion stability, which favors oil transportation for longer distances.  相似文献
