A model for the dynamic, adhesive, frictionless contact between a viscoelastic body and a deformable foundation is described. The adhesion process is modeled by a bonding field on the contact surface. The contact is described by a modified normal compliance condition. The tangential shear due to the bonding field is included. The problem is formulated as a coupled system of a variational equality for the displacements and a differential equation for the bonding field. The existence of a unique weak solution for the problem is established, together with a partial regularity result. The existence proof proceeds by construction of an appropriate mapping which is shown to be a contraction on a Hilbert space.  相似文献

The game problem for an input-output system governed by a Volterra integral equation with respect to a quadratic performance functional is an untouched open problem. In this paper, it is studied by a new approach called projection causality. The main result is the causal synthesis which provides a causal feedback implementation of the optimal strategies in the saddle point sense. The linear feedback operator is determined by the solution of a Fredholm integral operator equation, which is independent of data functions and control functions. Two application examples are included. The first one is quadratic differential games of a linear system with arbitrary finite delays in the state variable and control variables. The second is the standard linear-quadratic differential games, for which it is proved that the causal synthesis can be reduced to a known result where the feedback operator is determined by the solution of a differential Riccati operator equation.

There are well established rival theories about the economy. These have, in turn, led to the development of rival models purporting to represent the economic system. The models are large systems of discrete-time nonlinear dynamic equations. Observed data of the real system does not, in general, provide sufficient information for statistical methods to invalidate all but one of the rival models. In such a circumstance, there is uncertainty about which model to use in the formulation of policy. Prudent policy design would suggest that a model-based policy should take into account all the rival models. This is achieved as a pooling of the models. The pooling that yields the policy which is robust to model choice is formulated as a constrained min-max problem. The minimization is over the decision variables and the maximization is over the rival models. Only equality constraints are considered.A successive quadratic programming algorithm is discussed for the solution of the min-max problem. The algorithm uses a stepsize strategy based on a differentiable penalty function for the constraints. Two alternative quadratic subproblems can be used. One is a quadratic min-max and the other a quadratic programming problem. The objective function of either subproblem includes a linear term which is dependent on the penalty function. The penalty parameter is determined at every iteration, using a strategy that ensures a descent property as well as the boundedness of the penalty term. The boundedness follows since the strategy is always satisfied for finite values of the parameter which needs to be increased a finite number of times.The global and local convergence of the algorithm is established. The conditions, involving projected Hessian approximations, are discussed under which the algorithm achieves unit stepsizes and subsequently Q-superlinear convergence.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to an optimal control problem for a system of three nonlinear parabolic equations from population dynamics. The equations model a trophic chain consisting of a predator, a pest and a plant species. The existence and uniqueness of the positive solution for the system are proved. The control variable is connected with the action of a pesticide. Our goal is to minimize the density of the pest and to maximize the plant density. The existence of the optimal solution is proved. The existence of a weak solution to a model for the dynamic thermomechanical behavior of a viscoelastic beam, which is in frictional contact with a rigid rotating wheel, is established. The model describes a simple braking system in which a rotating wheel comes to a stop as a result of the frictional traction generated by the beam. The classical model consists of a system of coupled equations for the beam temperature and displacement, the wear of the beam's contacting end, the wheel temperature and its angular velocity. The weak formulation is an abstract differential inclusion involving set-valued pseudomonotone operators, The existence is proved by using recent results for such operators. Uniqueness is shown to hold when the wheel's angular velocity and temperature are known.  相似文献

A model for the thermomechanical behaviour of a beam which allows for the general evolution of material damage is presented and investigated. One end of the beam is fixed while the other is constrained to move between two stops. The contact of the free tip with the stops is modelled by the normal compliance condition. The thermal interaction between the stops and the free tip is described by a heat exchange condition where the heat transfer coefficient is a general function of the gaps between the tip and the stops. The effects on the mechanical properties of the material due to crack expansion are described by a damage field, which measures the decrease in the load-bearing capacity of the material. The damage evolves as a constrained diffusion process in which the microcracks that develop may grow or disappear. The mathematical model consists of a coupled system of energy--elasticity equations together with a nonlinear parabolic inclusion for the damage field. The existence of a local solution is established using truncation, penalization, and a priori estimates.  相似文献

Summary We investigate the transition from two-frequency quasiperiodicity to chaotic behavior in a model for a quasiperiodically driven magnetoelastic ribbon. The model system is a two-frequency parametrically driven Duffing oscillator. As a driving parameter is increased, the route to chaos takes place in four distinct stages. The first stage is a torus-doubling bifurcation. The second stage is a transition from the doubled torus to a strange nonchaotic attractor. The third stage is a transition from the strange nonchaotic attractor to a geometrically similar chaotic attractor. The final stage is a hard transition to a much larger chaotic attractor. This latter transition arises as the result of acrisis, the characterization of which is one of our primary concerns. Numerical evidence is given to indicate that the crisis arises from the collision of the chaotic attractor with the stable manifold of a saddle torus. Intermittent bursting behavior is present after the crisis with the mean time between bursts scaling as a power law in the distance from the critical control parameter; τ ∼ (A-Ac). The critical exponent is computed numerically, yielding the value α=1.03±0.01. Theoretical justification is given for the computed critical exponent. Finally, a Melnikov analysis is performed, yielding an expression for transverse crossings of the stable and unstable manifolds of the crisis-initiating saddle torus.  相似文献

The airline crew scheduling problem is the problem of assigning crew itineraries to flights. We develop a new approach for solving the problem that is based on enumerating hundreds of millions random pairings. The linear programming relaxation is solved first and then millions of columns with best reduced cost are selected for the integer program. The number of columns is further reduced by a linear programming based heuristic. Finally an integer solution is obtained with a commercial integer programming solver. The branching rule of the solver is enhanced with a combination of strong branching and a specialized branching rule. The algorithm produces solutions that are significantly better than ones found by current practice.  相似文献

We describe an automatic quadrature routine which is specifically designed for real functions having a certain type of infinite oscillating tails. The algorithm is designed to integrate a vector function over an infinite interval. A FORTRAN implementation of the algorithm is included.The algorithm combines an adaptive subdivision strategy with extrapolation and requires that the decay of all the functions in the vector is the same. The algorithm is based on the assumption that the oscillating behavior is due to a periodic function with the property that it changes sign when evaluated at points of distance half a period. We assume that this period is known. The algorithm offers a choice of three different quasi-linear extrapolation procedures, namely the Euler transformation and two modifications of this transformation.This work was supported by The Norwegian Research Council for Science and the Humanities.  相似文献

In this paper, we first describe a constraint generation scheme for probabilistic mixed integer programming problems. Next, we present a decomposition approach to the peak capacity expansion planning of interconnected hydrothermal generating systems, with bounds on the transmission capacity between the regions. The objective is to minimize investments in generating units and interconnection links, subject to constraints on supply reliability. The problem is formulated as a stochastic integer program. The constraint generation scheme, which is similar to Benders decomposition, is applied in the solution of the peak capacity expansion problem. The master problem in this decomposition scheme is an integer program, solved by implicit enumeration. The operating subproblem corresponds to a stochastic network flow problem, and is solved by a maximum flow algorithm and Monte Carlo simulation. The approach is illustrated through a case study involving the expansion of the system of the Brazilian Southeastern region.  相似文献

The existence is considered of a boundary control which drives a system governed by the one-dimensional diffusion equation from the zero state to a given final state, and at the same time minimizes a given functional. The problem is first modified to one in which the minimum is sought of a functional defined on a set of Radon measures. The existence of a minimizing measure is demonstrated, and it is shown that this measure may be approximated by a piecewise constant control. Finally, conditions are given under which a minimizing measurable control exists for the unmodified problem.  相似文献

The torsion of a composite cone that has a centre of rotation at its apex is investigated in a spherical system of coordinates. A composite cone is a cone with one shear modulus, inserted into a conical funnel having another shear modulus and with ideal mechanical contact between its surface and the inner surface of the conical funnel. The auxiliary problem of a composite cone with its apex truncated by a spherical surface is considered first. The outer surface of such a conical body is not loaded, but a load that reduces to a torque is applied to its spherical surface. The auxiliary problem is reduced to a one-dimensional discontinuous boundary-value problem using a specially constructed integral transformation. The exact solution of this boundary-value problem is constructed. The limit is then taken in the solution obtained as the radius of the spherical surface tends to zero for the purpose of obtaining an exact solution of the problem of the torsion of a composite cone that has a centre of rotation at the apex.  相似文献

Abstract

The paper studies the evolution of the thermomechanical and electric state of a thermoviscoelastic thermistor that is in frictional contact with a reactive foundation. The mechanical process is dynamic, while the electric process is quasistatic. Friction is modeled with a nonmonotone relation between the tangential traction and tangential velocity. Frictional heat generation is taken into account and so is the strong dependence of the electric conductivity on the temperature. The mathematical model for the process is in the form of a system that consists of dynamic hyperbolic subdifferential inclusion for the mechanical state coupled with a nonlinear parabolic equation for the temperature and an elliptic equation for the electric potential. The paper establishes the existence of a weak solution to the problem by using time delays, a priori estimates and a convergence method.  相似文献

Power plant preventive maintenance scheduling consists of knowing which generating units to take off line for regular safety inspection. This problem is extremely important because a failure in a power station may cause a general breakdown in an electric network. The principal danger is that customer electricity demand will not be satisfied in such cases. The problem is approached from the operations research perspective as a question of optimisation. Benders’ decomposition technique is used to solve the resulting model. An example of this application is included. The algorithm is put to use in a real power plant setting. The obtained result is a schedule that allows the efficient organisation of preventive maintenance over the time horizon considered.  相似文献

A model which allows us to estimate the elastic properties of thin-walled structures manufactured by injection molding is presented. The starting step is the numerical prediction of the microstructure of a short-fiber-reinforced composite developed during the filling stage of the manufacturing process. For this purpose, the Moldflow Plastic Insight® commercial program is used. As a result of simulating the filling process, a second-rank orientation tensor characterizing the microstructure of the material is obtained. The elastic properties of the prepared material locally depend on the orientational distribution of fibers. The constitutive equation is formulated by means of orientational averaging for a given orientation tensor. The tensor of elastic material properties is computed and translated into the format for a stress-strain analysis based on the ANSYSÒ finite-element code. The numerical procedure and the convergence of results are discussed for a thin strip, a rectangular plate, and a shell of revolution. The influence of manufacturing conditions on the stress-strain state of statically loaded thin-walled elements is illustrated.  相似文献
