It is well known that certain properties of continuous functions on the circle T related to the Fourier expansion can be improved by a change of variable, i.e., by a homeomorphism of the circle onto itself. One of the results in this area is the Jurkat–Waterman theorem on conjugate functions, which improves the classical Bohr–Pál theorem. In the present work we propose a short and technically very simple proof of the Jurkat–Waterman theorem. Our approach yields a stronger result. 相似文献

We extend a constructive proof of the Eisenbud–Evans–Storch theorem, developed in a previous work by Coquand, Schuster, and Lombardi, from the affine to the projective case. The main tool is that of distributive lattices, which allows us to replace the classical topological arguments by more algebraic and constructive ones. Given a suitable graded ring, we work in the distributive lattice in which the prime filters correspond to the homogeneous prime ideals. The proof presented here is one of the first examples of concrete results obtained using this tool. 相似文献

Loomis and Whitney proved an inequality between volume and areas of projections of an open set in n-dimensional space related to the isoperimetric inequality. They reduced the problem to a combinatorial theorem proved by a repeated use of Hölder inequality. In this paper we prove a general inequality between real numbers which easily implies the combinatorial theorem of Loomis and Whitney.
