Let K be a complete and cocomplete category with a given proper (E,M)-factorization. K is called well-bounded if K is moreover bounded with a generator and cowellpowered with respect to the given factorization. Freyd-Kelly proved the following theorem about well-bounded categories: Let K be a well-bounded category and let Γ be a class of cylinders in the small category C1, and let all but a set of these cylinders be cones. Then Γ(C,K) is a reflective subcategory of [C,K]. The main results of this paper are: (I) If F: K→L is a Top-functor and L is well-bounded, then K is well-bounded. (II) If U is an E-reflective subcategory of a well-bounded category,then U is again wellbounded. As a corollary one obtains for instance that all coreflective and all epireflective subcategories of the category of topological spaces are well-bounded.  相似文献

Let pHaus denote the category of Hausdorff spaces and p-maps, and let HCL denote the subcategory of pHaus consisting of H-closed spaces and continuous functions. A general framework for cluster tilting is set up by showing that any quotient of a triangulated category modulo a tilting subcategory (i.e., a maximal 1-orthogonal subcategory) carries an induced abelian structure. These abelian quotients turn out to be module categories of Gorenstein algebras of dimension at most one.   相似文献

Let be a triangulated category with coproducts, the full subcategory of compact objects in . If is the homotopy category of spectra, Adams (Topology 10 (1971) 185–198), proved the following: All homological functors are the restrictions of representable functors on , and all natural transformations are the restrictions of morphisms in . It has been something of a mystery, to what extent this generalises to other triangulated categories. In Neeman (Topology 36 (1997) 619–645), it was proved that Adams’ theorem remains true as long as is countable, but can fail in general. The failure exhibited was that there can be natural transformations not arising from maps in . A puzzling open problem remained: Is every homological functor the restriction of a representable functor on ? In a recent paper, Beligiannis (Relative homological and purity in triangulated categories, 1999, preprint) made some progress. But in this article, we settle the problem. The answer is no. There are examples of derived categories of rings, and homological functors which are not restrictions of representables.  相似文献

Locally presentable categories are precisely those complete categories which have a small dense subcategory. Every subcategory of a locally presentable category (i) has a small dense subcategory, (ii) if it is closed under limits, then it is locally presentable and (iii) if it is closed under colimits, then it is coreflective. We exhibit examples of triangulated categories which are neither the stable category of a Frobenius category nor a full triangulated subcategory of the homotopy category of a stable model category. Even more drastically, our examples do not admit any non-trivial exact functors to or from these algebraic respectively topological triangulated categories. Let \mathbbX\mathbb{X} be a separated Noetherian scheme of finite Krull dimension which has enough locally free sheaves of finite rank and let U í \mathbbXU\subseteq \mathbb{X} be an open subscheme. We prove that the singularity category of U is triangle equivalent to the Verdier quotient triangulated category of the singularity category of \mathbbX\mathbb{X} with respect to the thick triangulated subcategory generated by sheaves supported in the complement of U. The result unifies two results of Orlov. We also prove a noncommutative version of this result.  相似文献

Let P be an abelian p-group, E a cyclic -group acting freely on P and k an algebraically closed field of characteristic . In this work, we prove that every self-equivalence of the stable module category of comes from a self-equivalence of the derived category of . Work of Puig and Rickard allows us to deduce that if a block B with defect group P and inertial quotient E is Rickard equivalent to , then they are splendidly Rickard equivalent. That is, Broué's original conjecture implies Rickard's refinement of the conjecture in this case. We define right n-angulated categories, which are analogous to right triangulated categories. Let 𝒞 be an additive category and 𝒳 a covariantly finite subcategory of 𝒞. Hedrlin and Pultr proved that every small category is isomorphic to a full subcategory of the category Alg (Δ) of all algebras of type Δ whenever the sum ∑Δ of their arities satisfies ∑Δ>2. This article deals with simultaneous representation in categories of algebras, a generalization of the related question: given a subcategory k′ of a small category k, when does there exist an extension Δ′ of a type Δ with ∑Δ?2 such that k′ is a full subcategory of Alg(Δ′) while the Alg (Δ)-redacts of algebras representing k′ determine a category isomorphic to k? We characterize simultaneous representability by algebras and their reducts completely, and show that it is closely related to Isbell's dominion. A consequence of the main result states that algebraically representable pairs (k′, k) of one-object categories k′ k are exactly those for which k′ coincides with its dominion in k, and provides an alternative characterization of the dominion. Simultaneous representability by partial algebras is not subject to any such restriction.  相似文献

A protolocalisation of a homological (resp. semi-abelian) category is a regular full reflective subcategory, whose reflection preserves short exact sequences. We study the closure operator and the torsion theory associated with such a situation. We pay special attention to the fibered, the regular epireflective and the monoreflective cases. Let \(\mathcal {X}\) be a resolving subcategory of an abelian category. In this paper we investigate the singularity category \(\mathsf {D_{sg}}(\underline{\mathcal {X}})=\mathsf {D^b}({\mathsf {mod}}\,\underline{\mathcal {X}})/\mathsf {K^b}({\mathsf {proj}}({\mathsf {mod}}\,\underline{\mathcal {X}}))\) of the stable category \(\underline{\mathcal {X}}\) of \(\mathcal {X}\). We consider when the singularity category is triangle equivalent to the stable category of Gorenstein projective objects, and when the stable categories of two resolving subcategories have triangle equivalent singularity categories. Applying this to the module category of a Gorenstein ring, we prove that the complete intersections over which the stable categories of resolving subcategories have trivial singularity categories are the simple hypersurface singularities of type \((\mathsf {A}_1)\). We also generalize several results of Yoshino on totally reflexive modules.  相似文献

This paper deals with questions relating to Haghverdi and Scott’s notion of partially traced categories. The main result is a representation theorem for such categories: we prove that every partially traced category can be faithfully embedded in a totally traced category. Also conversely, every symmetric monoidal subcategory of a totally traced category is partially traced, so this characterizes the partially traced categories completely. The main technique we use is based on Freyd’s paracategories, along with a partial version of Joyal, Street, and Verity’s Int-construction.  相似文献
