In this paper, based upon the basic theory for glued manifolds in M.W. Hirsch (1976) [8, Chapter 8, §2 Gluing Manifolds Together], we give a method of constructing homeomorphisms between two small covers over simple convex polytopes. As a result we classify, up to homeomorphism, all small covers over a 3-dimensional prism P3(m) with m?3. We introduce two invariants from colored prisms and other two invariants from ordinary cohomology rings with Z2-coefficients of small covers. These invariants can form a complete invariant system of homeomorphism types of all small covers over a prism in most cases. Then we show that the cohomological rigidity holds for all small covers over a prism P3(m) (i.e., cohomology rings with Z2-coefficients of all small covers over a P3(m) determine their homeomorphism types). In addition, we also calculate the number of homeomorphism types of all small covers over P3(m).  相似文献

We give a concrete example of an infinite sequence of (pn,qn)-lens spaces L(pn,qn) with natural triangulations T(pn,qn) with pn tetrahedra such that L(pn,qn) contains a certain non-orientable closed surface which is fundamental with respect to T(pn,qn) and of minimal crosscap number among all closed non-orientable surfaces in L(pn,qn) and has n−2 parallel sheets of normal disks of a quadrilateral type disjoint from the pair of core circles of L(pn,qn). Actually, we can set p0=0, q0=1, pk+1=3pk+2qk and qk+1=pk+qk.  相似文献

The paper deals with sharp embeddings of the Sobolev spaces Hsp(IRn) and the Besov spaces Bsp,p(IRn) into rearrangement—invariant spaces and related Hardy inequalities. Here 1 < p < ∞ and s = n/p.  相似文献

We study the mod 2 homology of the double and triple loop spaces of homogeneous spaces associated with exceptional Lie groups. The main computational tools are the Serre spectral sequence for fibrations Ωn+1GΩn+1(G/H)→ΩnH for n=1,2, and the Eilenberg-Moore spectral sequence associated with related fiber squares, which both converge to the same destination space H(Ωn(G/H);F2). We also develop the generalized Bockstein lemma to determine the higher Bockstein actions.  相似文献

It is well known that the commutator Tb of the Calderón-Zygmund singular integral operator is bounded on Lp(Rn) for 1 < p < +∞ if and only if b ∈ BMO [1]. On the other hand, the commutator Tb is bounded from H1(Rn) into L1(Rn) only if the function b is a constant [2]. In this article, we will discuss the boundedness of commutator of certain pseudo-differential operators on Hardy spaces H1. Let Tσ be the operators that its symbol is S01,δ with 0 ≤ δ < 1, if b ∈ LMO, then, the commutator [b, Tσ] is bounded from H1(Rn) into L1(Rn) and from L1(Rn) into BMO(Rn); If [b, Tσ] is bounded from H1(Rn) into L1(Rn) or L1(Rn) into BMO(Rn), then, b ∈ LMOloc.  相似文献

Fix a prime p. Given a finite group G, let H(G) denote its mod p cohomology. In the early 1990s, Henn, Lannes, and Schwartz introduced two invariants d0(G) and d1(G) of H(G) viewed as a module over the mod p Steenrod algebra. They showed that, in a precise sense, H(G) is respectively detected and determined by Hd(CG(V)) for d?d0(G) and d?d1(G), with V running through the elementary abelian p-subgroups of G.The main goal of this paper is to study how to calculate these invariants. We find that a critical role is played by the image of the restriction of H(G) to H(C), where C is the maximal central elementary abelian p-subgroup of G. A measure of this is the top degree e(G) of the finite dimensional Hopf algebra H(C)H(G)Fp, a number that tends to be quite easy to calculate. Our results are complete when G has a p-Sylow subgroup P in which every element of order p is central. Using the Benson-Carlson duality, we show that in this case, d0(G)=d0(P)=e(P), and a similar exact formula holds for d1. As a bonus, we learn that He(G)(P) contains nontrivial essential cohomology, reproving and sharpening a theorem of Adem and Karagueuzian. In general, we are able to show that d0(G)?max{e(CG(V))|V<G} if certain cases of Benson's Regularity Conjecture hold. In particular, this inequality holds for all groups such that the difference between the p-rank of G and the depth of H(G) is at most 2. When we look at examples with p=2, we learn that d0(G)?14 for all groups with 2-Sylow subgroup of order up to 64, with equality realized when G=SU(3,4).En route we study two objects of independent interest. If C is any central elementary abelian p-subgroup of G, then H(G) is an H(C)-comodule, and we prove that the subalgebra of H(C)-primitives is always Noetherian of Krull dimension equal to the p-rank of G minus the p-rank of C. If the depth of H(G) equals the rank of Z(G), we show that the depth essential cohomology of G is nonzero (reproving and extending a theorem of Green), and Cohen-Macauley in a certain sense, and prove related structural results.  相似文献

Let G be a group, S a subgroup of G, and F a field of characteristic p. We denote the augmentation ideal of the group algebra FG by ω(G). The Zassenhaus-Jennings-Lazard series of G is defined by Dn(G)=G∩(1+ωn(G)). We give a constructive proof of a theorem of Quillen stating that the graded algebra associated with FG is isomorphic as an algebra to the enveloping algebra of the restricted Lie algebra associated with the Dn(G). We then extend a theorem of Jennings that provides a basis for the quotient ωn(G)/ωn+1(G) in terms of a basis of the restricted Lie algebra associated with the Dn(G). We shall use these theorems to prove the main results of this paper. For G a finite p-group and n a positive integer, we prove that G∩(1+ω(G)ωn(S))=Dn+1(S) and G∩(1+ω2(G)ωn(S))=Dn+2(S)Dn+1(SD2(G)). The analogous results for integral group rings of free groups have been previously obtained by Gruenberg, Hurley, and Sehgal.  相似文献

We study the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear heat equation ut-?u=|u|p-1u in RN. The initial data is of the form u0=λ?, where ?C0(RN) is fixed and λ>0. We first take 1<p<pf, where pf is the Fujita critical exponent, and ?C0(RN)∩L1(RN) with nonzero mean. We show that u(t) blows up for λ small, extending the H. Fujita blowup result for sign-changing solutions. Next, we consider 1<p<ps, where ps is the Sobolev critical exponent, and ?(x) decaying as |x|-σ at infinity, where p<1+2/σ. We also prove that u(t) blows up when λ is small, extending a result of T. Lee and W. Ni. For both cases, the solution enjoys some stable blowup properties. For example, there is single point blowup even if ? is not radial.  相似文献

We prove the path sum formula for computing the U(n) invariant denominator functions associated to stretched U(n) Wigner operators. A family of U(n) invariant polynomials G[λ](n) is then defined which generalize the μGq(n) polynomials previously studied. The G[λ](n) polynomials are shown to satisfy a number of difference equations and have symmetry properties similar to the μGq(n) polynomials. We also give a direct proof of the important transposition symmetry for the G[λ](n) polynomials. To enable the non-specialist to understand the foundations for these remarkable polynomials, we provide an exposition of the boson calculus and the construction of the multiplicity-free U(n) Wigner operators.  相似文献

In this paper we aim to construct adaptive confidence region for the direction of ξ in semiparametric models of the form Y=G(ξTX,ε) where G(⋅) is an unknown link function, ε is an independent error, and ξ is a pn×1 vector. To recover the direction of ξ, we first propose an inverse regression approach regardless of the link function G(⋅); to construct a data-driven confidence region for the direction of ξ, we implement the empirical likelihood method. Unlike many existing literature, we need not estimate the link function G(⋅) or its derivative. When pn remains fixed, the empirical likelihood ratio without bias correlation can be asymptotically standard chi-square. Moreover, the asymptotic normality of the empirical likelihood ratio holds true even when the dimension pn follows the rate of pn=o(n1/4) where n is the sample size. Simulation studies are carried out to assess the performance of our proposal, and a real data set is analyzed for further illustration.  相似文献

In this paper we study the isometric extension problem and show that every surjective isometry between the unit spheres of Lp (μ) (1 p ∞, p≠2) and a Banach space E can be extended to a linear isometry from Lp(μ) onto E, which means that if the unit sphere of E is (metrically) isometric to the unit sphere of Lp(μ), then E is linearly isometric to Lp(μ). We also prove that every surjective 1-Lipschitz or anti-1-Lipschitz map between the unit spheres of Lp (μ1, H1) and Lp(μ2,H2) must be an isometry and can be extended to a linear isometry from Lp (μ1,H1) to Lp (μ2,H2), where H1 and H2 are Hilbert spaces.  相似文献

Using unknotting number, we introduce a link diagram invariant of type given in Hass and Nowik (2008) [4], which changes at most by 2 under a Reidemeister move. We show that a certain infinite sequence of diagrams of the trivial two-component link need quadratic number of Reidemeister moves for being splitted with respect to the number of crossings.  相似文献

Let be a continuous function such that H(p)→H0R as |p|→+∞. Fixing a domain Ω in R2 we study the behaviour of a sequence (un) of approximate solutions to the H-system Δu=2H(u)uxuy in Ω. Assuming that suppR3|(H(p)−H0)p|<1, we show that the weak limit of the sequence (un) solves the H-system and unu strongly in H1 apart from a countable set S made by isolated points. Moreover, if in addition H(p)=H0+o(1/|p|) as |p|→+∞, then in correspondence of each point of S we prove that the sequence (un) blows either an H-bubble or an H0-sphere.  相似文献

For a homoclinic class H(p f ) of f ?? Diff1(M), f?OH(p f ) is called R-robustly entropy-expansive if for g in a locally residual subset around f, the set ?? ? (x) = {y ?? M: dist(g n (x), g n (y)) ?? g3 (?n ?? ?)} has zero topological entropy for each x ?? H(p g ). We prove that there exists an open and dense set around f such that for every g in it, H(p g ) admits a dominated splitting of the form E ?? F 1 ?? ... ?? F k ?? G where all of F i are one-dimensional and non-hyperbolic, which extends a result of Pacifico and Vieitez for robustly entropy-expansive diffeomorphisms. Some relevant consequences are also shown.  相似文献

Let k be a knot in S3. There is an epimorphism from π1(S3k) onto a free product of two nontrivial cyclic groups sending a meridian to an element of length two iff k has property Q (Topology of Manifolds, Markham, Chicago, IL, 1970, pp. 195-199) that is if there is a closed surface F in S3 containing k, such that k is imprimitive in H1(X) and in H1(Y) where X and Y are the closures of the components of S3F. We give answers to questions of Simon (1970) about properties Q, Q∗ and Q∗∗. Epimorphisms from knot groups onto torus knot groups are also studied and some results on property P and surgery are included.  相似文献

We study the regularity properties of the Hamilton-Jacobi flow equation and infimal convolution in the case where the initial datum function is continuous and lies in a given Sobolev-space W 1,p (? n ). We prove that under suitable assumptions it holds for solutions w(x, t) that D x w(·, t) → Du(·) in L p (? n ) as t → 0. Moreover, we construct examples showing that our results are essentially optimal.  相似文献

Let G=(V,E) be a graph with V={1,2,…,n}. Denote by S(G) the set of all real symmetric n×n matrices A=[ai,j] with ai,j≠0, ij if and only if ij is an edge of G. Denote by I(G) the set of all pairs (p,q) of natural numbers such that there exists a matrix AS(G) with at most p positive and q negative eigenvalues. We show that if G is the join of G1 and G2, then I(G)?{(1,1)}=I(G1K1)∩I(G2K1)?{(1,1)}. Further, we show that if G is a graph with s isolated vertices, then , where denotes the graph obtained from G be removing all isolated vertices, and we give a combinatorial characterization of graphs G with (1,1)∈I(G). We use these results to determine I(G) for every complete multipartite graph G.  相似文献
