The total current (photocurrent plus dark current) through an insulator with one ohmic contact is obtained. The insulator contains a single, discrete trap level and in addition fixed holes as recombination centers. From the total current, the photocurrent-voltage characteristic is derived. For shallow traps only, the photocurrent after an ohmic range, continuously turns into saturation. For deep traps only, however, below the threshold voltage for the onset of the space-charge-limited dark current, the photocurrent-voltage characteristic is considerably influenced by the rate of excitation by light. The superlinear rise of the photocurrent with voltage (at low rates of excitation) changes into a linear and furthermore into a sublinear rise with increasing rate of excitation. Near the threshold voltage the photocurrent passes through a maximum at very low rates of excitation because the deep traps are filled with electrons from the ohmic contact. The corresponding maximum gain may be by orders of magnitude greater than the saturation gain.  相似文献

We present designs for multipole ion traps based on a set of planar, annular, concentric electrodes which require only rf potentials to confine ions. We illustrate the desirable properties of the traps by considering a few simple cases of confined ions. We predict that mm-scale surface traps may have trap depths as high as tens of electron volts when parameters of a magnitude common in the field are chosen. Under similar conditions, micromotion amplitudes in a 2D ion crystal as low as tens of nanometers could be realized. Several example traps are studied, and the scaling of those properties with voltage, frequency, and trap scale, for small numbers of ions, is derived. Applications of these traps include quantum information science, frequency metrology, and cold ion–atom collisions.  相似文献

The absolute frequency of the In(+) 5s(2) (1)S(0)5s5p (3)P(0) clock transition at 237 nm was measured with an accuracy of 1.8 parts in 10(13). Using a phase-coherent frequency chain, we compared the (1)S(0)(3)P(0) transition with a methane-stabilized HeNe laser at 3.39 mum, which was calibrated against an atomic cesium fountain clock. A frequency gap of 37 THz at the fourth harmonic of the HeNe standard was bridged by a frequency comb generated by a mode-locked femtosecond laser. The frequency of the In(+) clock transition was found to be 1 267 402 452 899.92 (0.23) kHz, the accuracy being limited by the uncertainty of the HeNe laser reference. This result represents an improvement in accuracy of more than 2 orders of magnitude over previous measurements of the line and now stands as what is to our knowledge the most accurate measurement of an optical transition in a single ion.s.  相似文献

The influences on the neutrino energy loss rates in iron group nuclei at the same density are investigated in the presence of strong electron screening and in the absence of electron screening. The results show that at a temperature of $15\ti10^9$\,K, the neutrino energy loss rates which come from the electron capture process for most iron group nuclei decrease no more than 2 orders of magnitude but for the others (such as $^{53,55,56,57,58,59,60}$Co, $^{56,59}$Ni) they can decrease about 3 orders of magnitude due to strong electron screening (SES), whereas, at a temperature of $10^9K$ the neutrino energy loss rates of the most iron group nuclei can be diminished greatly due to the SES. For example, $^{61}$Fe, $^{60}$Fe, and $^{62}$Ni the neutrino energy loss rates decrease about 4, 15 and 16 orders of magnitude and for $^{57}$Cr, $^{58}$Cr, and $^{60}$Cr decrease about 18, 12, and 10 orders of magnitude respectively. According to our calculations the neutrino energy loss rates of nuclei $^{58}$Mn, $^{59}$Mn, $^{60}$Mn, and $^{62}$Mn may decrease about 13 orders of magnitude at a temperature of $10^9$\,K due to the SES.  相似文献

Specific shape resonances were studied in systems with the highest point symmetry. The resonances occur in narrow energy intervals and disappear when inner potentials increase. A model system of point scatterers that are placed in the vertexes of an icosahedron and at its center was analyzed. In this system, the geometric resonance lifetime is extremely sensitive to structure changes and may attain 10−10 s, i.e., exceed the rotation period of electrons in atoms by six orders of magnitude. The feasibility of molecular traps that capture elastically scattered electrons and bring them into the resonant state is discussed. The resident time of electrons in these traps can be controlled with external static fields.  相似文献

The basic assumption of luminescence dating is the equality between the growth curve of OSL generated by the natural radiation and the OSL growth curve reconstructed in laboratory conditions. The dose rates that generate the OSL in nature and in laboratory experiments differ by about ten orders of magnitude. Recently some discrepancies between the natural and laboratory growth curves have been observed. It is important to establish their reasons in order to introduce appropriate correction into the OSL dating protocol or to find a test that allows to eliminate the samples which should not be used for dating. For this purpose, both growth curves, natural and laboratory, were reconstructed by means of computer simulations of the processes occurring in the sample during its deposition time in environment as well as those which occur in a laboratory during dating procedure. The simulations were carried out for three models including one shallow trap, two OSL traps, one disconnected deep and one luminescence center. The OSL model for quartz can be more complex than the one used in the presented simulations, but in spite of that the results show effects of growth curves discrepancies similar to those observed in experiments. It is clear that the consistency of growth curves is not a general feature of the OSL processes, but rather a result of an advantageous configuration of trap parameters. The deep disconnected traps play the key role and their complete filling before the zeroing of OSL signal is a necessary condition of the growth curves' consistency.  相似文献

Europium (Eu+) ions were confined in a Paul trap and detected by non-destructive method. Storage time of Eu+ ions achieved in vacuum was improved by orders of magnitude employing buffer gas cooling. The experimentally detected signal was fitted to the ion response signal and the total number of ions trapped was estimated. It is found that the peak signal amplitude as well as the product of FWHM and the peak signal amplitude is proportional to the total number of trapped ions. The trapped ion secular frequency was swept at different rates and its effect on the absorption line profile was studied both experimentally and theoretically.  相似文献

Growth rates of PPS and PVDF spherulites in very thin films were measured. The growth rates change by about four orders of magnitude within the crystallization temperature ranges examined in this work. Film thickness at the position of the spherulite for which growth rates were determined was measured; the film thickness was deduced from retardation in the spherulite. In the light of the criterion we proposed, film thicknesses more than several tens of microns are required for the growth rate to change by four orders of magnitude. However, the thickness of the thinnest film examined experimentally was less than 1 μm. This discrepancy between theory and experiment is large and violates the framework of the traditional growth model unrecoverably.  相似文献

He+ ions as well as neutral He atoms with keV energies are scattered under a grazing angle of incidence from a clean and atomically flat Ag(111) surface. From a comparison of ion fractions observed after scattering of He+ ions and He atoms we find for energies below some keV small but defined fractions of ions that have survived the complete scattering event with the surface. This feature allows us to clear up the microscopic interaction scenario for Auger neutralization of He+ ions at a Ag(111) surface. The Auger neutralization rates are 2 to 3 orders of magnitude smaller than conventional rates derived from experiments for He+-metal systems and agree with recent calculations.  相似文献

Gaussian modifications of the neutrino energy loss (NEL) by electron capture on the strongly screening nuclides 55Co and 56Ni are investigated. The results show that in strong electron screening (SES),the NEL rates decrease without modifying the Gamow-Teller (G-T) resonance transition. For instance, the NEL rates of 55Co and 56Ni decrease more than two and three orders of magnitude for ρ7 = 5.86, T9≤ 5,Ye = 0.47, △ = 6.3, respectively. In contrast, due to Gaussian modification, the NEL rates increase about two orders of magnitude in SES. Due to SES, the maximum values of the C-factor (in %) on NEL of 55Co, 56Ni are of the order of 99.80%, 99.56% at ρ7 = 5.86 Ye = 0.47 and 99.60%, 99.65% at ρ7 = 106 Ye = 0.43, respectively.  相似文献

While sol–gel-processed metal oxides are widely used as an electron transport layer to enhance photovoltaic performances, their effect on photodetector application was not studied. We found sol–gel-processed titanium oxide deteriorated dark current characteristics in reverse biases by almost two orders of magnitude, whereas bare Al cathodes exhibited ideal dark current characteristics. Increased dark current came from space charge limited currents in microscopic p-i-p metal-semiconductor-metal configurations. The spatial variation of workfunction values was believed to form local leakage paths by partial filling of traps on the surface of sol–gel titanium oxide.  相似文献

The reaction of ethanol oxidation has been examined over a Pt polycrystalline film deposited on an yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrochemical reactor. Experiments were carried out at 325 °C at atmospheric total pressure and under open and closed circuit conditions. It was found that the electrochemically-induced change in the catalytic rate of ethanol consumption is four orders of magnitude higher than the rate of ion transport through the solid electrolyte. The galvanostatic transient behavior of the consumption rates of ethanol and oxygen and of the formation rates of carbon dioxide and acetaldehyde have been also recorded. 使用最新版本的Space Radiation 7.0软件对典型卫星轨道(包括地球同步轨道、中地轨道和低地轨道)的空间辐射环境进行提取和计算,分析不同空间天气和屏蔽条件下的轨道离子通量-能量谱和通量-线性能量沉积(LET)谱特点。以一款SOI SRAM为例,结合地面加速器重离子试验获得的单粒子翻转截面-LET值关系曲线,预计该器件的在轨软错误率(SER),并分析关键参数对预计结果的影响规律和内在机理。结果表明,使用Space Radiation软件的四种输入模式获得的预计结果可相差5倍左右;灵敏区厚度的增大导致在轨SER降低数个数量级,原因为灵敏区厚度的设置与灵敏区平均投影面积和符合条件的空间离子通量的大小直接相关;漏斗长度的大小对预计结果有一定的影响。最后,对SER预计模型的适用性和发展趋势进行了讨论。  相似文献

We report atomistic simulations for both self- and transport diffusivities of light gases in carbon nanotubes and in two zeolites with comparable pore sizes. We find that transport rates in nanotubes are orders of magnitude faster than in the zeolites we have studied or in any microporous material for which experimental data are available. The exceptionally high transport rates in nanotubes are shown to be a result of the inherent smoothness of the nanotubes. We predict that carbon nanotube membranes will have fluxes that are orders of magnitude greater than crystalline zeolite membranes.  相似文献

The accumulation of hydrogen and defects in the E-125 zirconium alloy (Zr-2.5% Nb) is investigated. The hydrogen concentration is maximum on the surface of zirconium alloy samples after electrolytic hydrogenation. The hydrogen concentration decreases at a depth of about 0.5 μm and then gradually grows with increasing depth. The surface of the zirconium alloy is strengthened and becomes more fragile after hydrogenation. A plastic deformation of the zirconium alloy gives rise to traps with different binding energies of hydrogen. The primary type of traps, the binding energy, and the amount of hydrogen captured by traps depend on the deformation magnitude and the sequence of deformation and hydrogenation processes. High mobility of hydrogen in plastically deformed samples is observed under bombardment of the surface of the zirconium alloy by a helium ion beam with an energy of 2.34 MeV. The variation of the hydrogen concentration in the near-surface region of zirconium under ion bombardment depends on the extent of deformation: upon bombardment by helium ions, the hydrogen concentration in the near-surface region of the metal increases for deformations from 1 to 3% and decreases for deformations of 4 and 5%.  相似文献

The dynamic polarizabilities of the 7s and 6d states of Ra~+are calculated using a relativistic core polarization potential method.The magic wavelengths of the 7s_(1/2)–6d_(3/2,5/2)transitions are identified.Comparing to the common radiofrequency(RF) ion traps,using the laser field at the magic wavelength to trap the ion could suppress the frequency uncertainty caused by the micromotion of the ion,and would not affect the transition frequency measurements.The heating rates of the ion and the powers of the laser for the ion trapping are estimated,which would benefit the possible precision measurements based on all-optical trapped Ra+.  相似文献

Tellurium nanoclusters were synthesized in (100) Si by ion implantation followed by annealing for 60 min with a 0.45 MHz high-frequency electromagnetic field. The results were compared with previous ones for a 30 min treatment. Structural studies were done by cross-sectional high resolution transmission electron microscopy and fast Fourier transformation of the images. The results show that for the 60 min treatment, the dynamics of nanocluster formation change, larger clusters are observed, some of which crystallized and were separated by high-resistive areas of amorphous Si. The structural changes are correlated with the electrical resistance as measured by ac impedance spectroscopy. The conductance of the samples after the 60 min treatment, compared to as implanted samples, dropped by seven orders of magnitude in the range of low frequencies and about three orders of magnitude at higher frequencies. This drastic change of the electrophysical behaviour of the field treated nanomaterial is discussed in terms of potential barriers at the interface of different phases. Based on the theory of relativity in superstrong magnetic fields (SMFs), we have carried out an estimation on electron capture (EC) rates of nuclides 52,53,54,55,56Fe in the SMFs in magnetars. The rates of change of electronic fraction (RCEF) in the EC process are also discussed. The results show that the EC rates increase greatly and even exceeds by 4 orders of magnitude (e.g. 54Fe, 55Fe and 56Fe) in SMF. On the contrary, the RCEF decreases largely and even exceeds by 5 orders of magnitude in the SMF.  相似文献

The photoconductivity response time in Bi12SiO20 grows 3 orders of magnitude when the temperature changes from 350 to 200 K. We attribute this to the influence of shallow traps with activation energy 0.4 eV. For low temperatures, the time of holographic grating formation is determined by the time of shallow-level filling. Effects of an ultra-strong magnetic field on electron capture rates for 55Co are analyzed in the nuclear shell model and under the Landau energy levels quantized approximation in the ultra-strong magnetic field, and the electron capture rates on 10 abundant iron group nuclei at the surface of a magnetar are given. The results show that electron capture rates on 55Co are increased greatly in the ultra-strong magnetic field, by about 3 orders of magnitude generally. These conclusions play an important role in future study of the evolution of magnetars.  相似文献
