Under study are the solvable nonabelian linear groups of infinite central dimension and sectional p-rank, p ≥ 0, in which all proper nonabelian subgroups of infinite sectional p-rank have finite central dimension. We describe the structure of the groups of this class. 相似文献

We are concerned with locally soluble linear groups of infinite central dimension and infinite sectional p-rank, p ⩾ 0, in
which every proper non-Abelian subgroup of infinite sectional p-rank has finite central dimension. It is proved that such
groups are soluble.

Let {ie166-01} be a set of finite groups. A group G is said to be saturated by the groups in {ie166-02} if every finite subgroup
of G is contained in a subgroup isomorphic to a member of {ie166-03}. It is proved that a periodic group G saturated by groups
in a set {U3(2m) | m = 1, 2, …} is isomorphic to U3(Q) for some locally finite field Q of characteristic 2; in particular, G is locally finite.

Summary A T-group is a group in which normality is transitive, a T1-group is a group which is not a T-group but all of whose proper subgroups are T-groups, and a T2-group is a group which is not a T- group or a T1-group but all of whose proper subgroups are T-groups or T1-groups. In this note we determine all the finite T2-groups, and we show that all T2-groups which are either soluble or 2-groups are finite. We study also the groups in which every proper soluble subgroup is a T-group or a T1-group.

In an unpublished 1987 letter, Bob Oliver determined which elementary abelian 2-groups have generalized euclidean integral group rings. He produced a filtration of E 2(R) by normal subgroups, sandwiched between elementary and special linear relative groups, with layers that are second homology groups with mod-2 coefficients. His proof is presented here, with related consequences for some other finite groups. 相似文献

It is proved that finite simple groups L4(2m), m ⩾ 2, and U4(2m), m ⩾ 2, are, up to isomorphism, recognized by spectra, i.e., sets of their element orders, in the class of finite groups.
As a consequence the question on recognizability by spectrum is settled for all finite simple groups without elements of order

This paper identifies a certain class of locally supersoluble groups (called soluble hall-T groups) which contains the soluble T-groups as well as the nilpotent groups. The main result states that the product of a normal soluble hall-T subgroup and a subnormal locally supersoluble subgroup is always locally supersoluble.AMS Subject Classification (1991): 20E25, 20F16, 20F19 相似文献

By multidimensional matrix inversion, combined with an A
r
extension of Jackson’s 8
φ
7 summation formula by Milne, a new multivariable 8
φ
7 summation is derived. By a polynomial argument this 8
φ
7 summation is transformed to another multivariable 8
φ
7 summation which, by taking a suitable limit, is reduced to a new multivariable extension of the nonterminating 6
φ
5 summation. The latter is then extended, by analytic continuation, to a new multivariable extension of Bailey’s very-well-poised

We examine some designs and binary codes constructed from the primitive permutation representations of the groups PSL
2(8) and PSL
2(9). For PSL
2(8) of degree 36, we construct a design and its code with the automorphism groups PSL
2(8) and S
9, respectively. For PSL
2(8) of degree 36 and PSL
2(9) of degree 15, we construct some designs and its codes invariant under the groups S
9 and A
8, respectively. The weight distribution and the dual of these codes are determined. By considering the action of automorphism
groups on some of these codes, we obtain the structure of the stabilizer for every codeword and construct some designs such
that S
9 or A
8 act primitively on them.

We consider a torsion-free nilpotent R p -group, the p-rank of whose quotient by the commutant is equal to 1 and either the rank of the center by the commutant is infinite or the rank of the group by the commutant is finite. We prove that the group is constructivizable if and only if it is isomorphic to the central extension of some divisible torsion-free constructive abelian group by some torsion-free constructive abelian R p -group with a computably enumerable basis and a computable system of commutators. We obtain similar criteria for groups of that type as well as divisible groups to be positively defined. We also obtain sufficient conditions for the constructivizability of positively defined groups. 相似文献

A subgroup is called c-semipermutable in G if A has a minimal supplement T in G such that for every subgroup T 1 of T there is an element x ∈ T satisfying AT 1 x = T 1 x A. We obtain a few results about the c-semipermutable subgroups and use them to determine the structures of some finite groups. 相似文献

The normality of symmetry property of Cayley graphs of valencies 3 and 4 on the alternating group A5 is studied. We prove that all but four such graphs are normal; that A5 is not 5-CI. A complete classification of all arc-transitive Cayley graphs on A5 of valencies 3 and 4 as well as some examples of trivalent and tetravalent GRRs of A5 is given. 相似文献

We shall extend the research on power structure of finite p-groups in Mann (J Algebra 42:121–135, 1976) to locally nilpotentp-groups. Firstly, we obtain that a locally nilpotent \(P_i\)-group G with \(|G:\mho _1(G)|< \infty \) is an extension of a divisible abelian group by a finite p-group. Next we get the structure of infinite locally nilpotent p-groups which are not \(P_i\)-groups, but all of whose proper infinite subgroups are \(P_i\)-groups. Finally, we show that locally nilpotent \(P_i\)-groups with all subgroups subnormal are nilpotent. 相似文献

In this paper we study two problems concerning Assouad-Nagata dimension:
- (1)
- Is there a metric space of positive asymptotic Assouad-Nagata dimension such that all of its asymptotic cones are of Assouad-Nagata dimension zero? (Dydak and Higes, 2008 [11, Question 4.5]).
- (2)
- Suppose G is a locally finite group with a proper left invariant metric dG. If dimAN(G,dG)>0, is dimAN(G,dG) infinite? (Brodskiy et al., preprint [6, Problem 5.3]).

The purpose of this paper is computing the fundamental relations and automorphism groups of very thin Hv-groups. In this regards, we first investigate some basic properties of Hv-groups and then we show that any given group is isomorphic to the fundamental group of a nontrivial Hv-group. The main properties of very thin Hv-groups are also investigated and it is proved that every finite very thin Hv-group is proper. 相似文献

Let A be a finitely generated abelian group. We describe the automorphism group Aut(A) using the rank of A and its torsion part p-part A
p
.
For a finite abelian p-group A of type (k
1, ..., k
n
), simple necessary and sufficient conditions for an n × n-matrix over integers to be associated with an automorphism of A are presented. Then, the automorphism group Aut(A) for a finite p-group A of type (k
1, k
2) is analyzed.
