In the present paper we use piecewise linear functions in order to obtain representations and estimates for the remainder in approximating continuous functions by positive linear operators. Applications of these results for Bernstein and Stancu’s operators are also presented. In addition, we give some partial results concerning the best constant problem for Bernstein operators with respect to the second order modulus of continuity.  相似文献

Infinite products of positive linear operators (p.l.o.) reproducing linear functions are considered from a quantitative point of view. Refining and generalizing convergence theorems of Gwó?d?-?ukawska, Jachymski, Gavrea, Ivan and the present authors, it is shown that infinite products of certain positive linear operators, all taken from a finite set of mappings reproducing linear functions, weakly converge to the first Bernstein operator. A discussion of products of Meyer-König and Zeller operators is included.  相似文献

Balcerzak, Dems and Komisarski [M. Balcerzak, K. Dems, A. Komisarski, Statistical convergence and ideal convergence for sequences of functions, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 328 (2007) 715-729] have recently introduced the notion of equi-statistical convergence which is stronger than the statistical uniform convergence. In this paper we study its use in the Korovkin-type approximation theory. Then, we construct an example such that our new approximation result works but its classical and statistical cases do not work. We also compute the rates of equi-statistical convergence of sequences of positive linear operators. Furthermore, we obtain a Voronovskaya-type theorem in the equi-statistical sense for a sequence of positive linear operators constructed by means of the Bernstein polynomials.  相似文献

We establish the global smoothness preservation of a function f by the sequence of linear positive operators. Our estimate is in terms of the second order Ditzian-Totik modulus of smoothness. Application is given to the Bernstein operator.  相似文献

Recently, linear positive operators of Bernstein–Schoenberg type, relative to B-splines bases, have been considered. The properties of these operators are derived mainly from the total positivity of normalized B-spline bases. In this paper we shall construct a generalization of the operator considered in [15] by means of normalized totally positive bases generated by a particular class of totally positive scaling functions. Next, we shall study its approximation properties. Our results can be established also for more general sequences of normalized totally positive bases.  相似文献

We define and study a new family of univariate rational Bernstein operators. They are positive operators exact on linear polynomials. Moreover, like classical polynomial Bernstein operators, they enjoy the traditional shape preserving properties and they are total variation diminishing. Finally, for a specific class of denominators, some convergence results are proved, in particular a Voronovskaja theorem, and some error bounds are given.  相似文献

Shape preserving polynomial curves   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We introduce particular systems of functions and study the properties of the associated Bézier-type curve for families of data points in the real affine space. The systems of functions are defined with the help of some linear and positive operators, which have specific properties: total positivity, nullity diminishing property and which are similar to the Bernstein polynomial operator. When the operators are polynomial, the curves are polynomial and their degrees are independent of the number of data points. Examples built with classical polynomial operators give algebraic curves written with the Jacobi polynomials, and trigonometric curves if the first and the last data points are identical.  相似文献

We obtain the infimum of the Hyers–Ulam stability constants for Stancu, Bernstein and Kantorovich operators and prove that in a class of certain positive linear operators this infimum for Bernstein operator has a minimality property.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce new approximation operators for univariate set-valued functions with general compact images in Rn. We adapt linear approximation methods for real-valued functions by replacing linear combinations of numbers with new metric linear combinations of finite sequences of compact sets, thus obtaining "metric analogues" of these operators for set-valued functions. The new metric linear combination extends the binary metric average of Artstein to several sets and admits any real coefficients. Approximation estimates for the metric analogue operators are derived. As examples we study metric Bernstein operators, metric Schoenberg operators, and metric polynomial interpolants.  相似文献

On a closed bounded interval, consider a nested sequence of Extended Chebyshev spaces possessing Bernstein bases. This situation automatically generates an infinite dimension elevation algorithm transforming control polygons of any given level into control polygons of the next level. The convergence of these infinite sequences of polygons towards the corresponding curves is a classical issue in computer-aided geometric design. Moreover, according to recent work proving the existence of Bernstein-type operators in such Extended Chebyshev spaces, this nested sequence is automatically associated with an infinite sequence of Bernstein operators which all reproduce the same two-dimensional space. Whether or not this sequence of operators converges towards the identity on the space of all continuous functions is a natural issue in approximation theory. In the present article, we prove that the two issues are actually equivalent. Not only is this result interesting on the theoretical side, but it also has practical implications. For instance, it provides us with a Korovkin-type theorem of convergence of any infinite dimension elevation algorithm. It also enables us to tackle the question of convergence of the dimension elevation algorithm for any nested sequence obtained by repeated integration of the kernel of a given linear differential operator with constant coefficients.  相似文献

We introduce and study a one-parameter class of positive linear operators constituting a link between the well-known operators of S.N. Bernstein and their genuine Bernstein-Durrmeyer variants. Several limiting cases are considered including one relating our operators to mappings investigated earlier by Mache and Zhou. A recursion formula for the moments is proved and estimates for simultaneous approximation of derivatives are given.  相似文献

A sequence of positive linear operators which approximate each continuous function on [0,1] while preserving the functione 2 (x) =x 2 is presented. Quantitative estimates are given and are compared with estimates of approximation by Bernstein polynomials. Connections with summability are discussed. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

In 1967 Durrmeyer introduced a modification of the Bernstein polynomials as a selfadjoint polynomial operator on L2[0,1] which proved to be an interesting and rich object of investigation. Incorporating Jacobi weights Berens and Xu obtained a more general class of operators, sharing all the advantages of Durrmeyer’s modification, and identified these operators as de la Vallée-Poussin means with respect to the associated Jacobi polynomial expansion. Nevertheless, all these modifications lack one important property of the Bernstein polynomials, namely the preservation of linear functions. To overcome this drawback a Bernstein-Durrmeyer operator with respect to a singular Jacobi weight will be introduced and investigated. For this purpose an orthogonal series expansion in terms generalized Jacobi polynomials and its de la Vallée-Poussin means will be considered. These Bernstein-Durrmeyer polynomials with respect to the singular weight combine all the nice properties of Bernstein-Durrmeyer polynomials with the preservation of linear functions, and are closely tied to classical Bernstein polynomials. Focusing not on the approximation behavior of the operators but on shape preserving properties, these operators we will prove them to converge monotonically decreasing, if and only if the underlying function is subharmonic with respect to the elliptic differential operator associated to the Bernstein as well as to these Bernstein-Durrmeyer polynomials. In addition to various generalizations of convexity, subharmonicity is one further shape property being preserved by these Bernstein-Durrmeyer polynomials. Finally, pointwise and global saturation results will be derived in a very elementary way.  相似文献

In this paper, in order to make the convergence faster to a function being approximated, we modify the Bernstein–Durrmeyer type operators, which were introduced in Abel et al. (Nonlinear Anal Ser A Theory Methods Appl 68(11):3372–3381, 2008). The modified operators reproduce the constant and linear functions. The operators discussed here are different from the other modifications of Bernstein type operators. The Voronovskaja type asymptotic formula with quantitative estimate for a new type of complex Durrmeyer polynomials, attached to analytic functions in compact disks is obtained. Here, we put in evidence the overconvergence phenomenon for this kind of Durrmeyer polynomials, namely the extensions of approximation properties with exact quantitative estimates, from the real interval [0, 1/3] to compact disks in the complex plane.  相似文献

Special classes of functions on the classical semigroupN of non-negative integers, as defined using the classical backward and forward difference operators, get associated in a natural way with special classes of bounded linear operators on Hilbert spaces. In particular, the class of completely monotone functions, which is a subclass of the class of positive definite functions ofN, gets associated with subnormal operators, and the class of completely alternating functions, which is a subclass of the class of negative definite functions onN, with completely hyper-expansive operators. The interplay between the theories of completely monotone and completely alternating functions has previously been exploited to unravel some interesting connections between subnormals and completely hyperexpansive operators. For example, it is known that a completely hyperexpansive weighted shift with the weight sequence {n}(n0) (of positive reals) gives rise to a subnormal weighted shift whose weight sequence is {1/n}(n0). The present paper discovers some new connections between the two classes of operators by building upon some well-known results in the literature that relate positive and negative definite functions on cartesian products of arbitrary sets using Bernstein functions. In particular, it is observed that the weight sequence of a completely hyperexpansive weighted shift with the weight sequence {n}(n0) (of positive reals) gives rise to a subnormal weighted shift whose weight sequence is {n+1/n}(n0). It is also established that the weight sequence of any completely hyperexpansive weighted shift is a Hausdorff moment sequence. Further, the connection of Bernstein functions with Stieltjes functions and generalizations thereof is exploited to link certain classes of subnormal weighted shifts to completely hyperexpansive ones.  相似文献
