A weak Cayley table isomorphism is a bijection φ: G → H of groups such that φ(xy) ~ φ(x)φ(y) for all x, y ∈ G. Here ~denotes conjugacy. When G = H the set of all weak Cayley table isomorphisms φ: G → G forms a group 𝒲(G) that contains the automorphism group Aut(G) and the inverse map I: G → G, x → x ?1. Let 𝒲0(G) = ?Aut(G), I? ≤ 𝒲(G) and say that G has trivial weak Cayley table group if 𝒲(G) = 𝒲0(G). We show that all finite irreducible Coxeter groups (except possibly E 8) have trivial weak Cayley table group, as well as most alternating groups. We also consider some sporadic simple groups.  相似文献

Let G be a locally compact Abelian group, and let X be a compact set of G. Given a positive definite function ?: G × G → ? whose real part is continuous at neutral element of G, we research a necessary and sufficient setting for the linear span of the set {x ∈ X → ?(x ? y): y ∈ X} to be dense in C(X) in the topology of uniform convergence. The context treated that is abstract encompasses classical cases of the literature, while other examples are entirely new.  相似文献

We show that the Jordan algebra 𝒮 of symmetric matrices with respect to either transpose or symplectic involution is zero product determined. This means that if a bilinear map {.,?.} from 𝒮?×?𝒮 into a vector space X satisfies {x, y}?=?0 whenever x?○?y?=?0, then there exists a linear map T : 𝒮?→?X such that {x,?y}?=?T(x?○?y) for all x, y?∈?𝒮 (here, x?○?y?=?xy?+?yx).  相似文献

Abstract

Given a contravariant functor F : 𝒞 → 𝒮ets for some category 𝒞, we say that F (𝒞) (or F) is generated by a pair (X, x) where X is an object of 𝒞 and x ∈ F(X) if for any object Y of 𝒞 and any y ∈ F(Y), there is a morphism f : Y → X such that F(f)(x) = y. Furthermore, when Y = X and y = x, any f : X → X such that F(f)(x) = x is an automorphism of X, we say that F is minimally generated by (X, x). This paper shows that if the ring R is left noetherian, then there exists a minimal generator for the functor ?xt (?, M) : ? → 𝒮ets, where M is a left R-module and ? is the class (considered as full subcategory of left R-modules) of injective left R-modules.  相似文献

Let R be a simple unital ring. Under a mild technical restriction on R, we will characterize biadditive mappings G: R2 → R satisfying G(u, u)u = uG(u, u), and G(1, r) = G(r, 1) = r for all unit u ∈ R and r ∈ R, respectively. As an application, we describe bijective linear maps θ: R → R satisfying θ(xyx?1y?1) = θ(x)θ(y)θ(x)?1θ(y)?1 for all invertible x, y ∈ R. This solves an open problem of Herstein on multiplicative commutators. More precisely, we will show that θ is an isomorphism. Furthermore, we shall see the existence of a unital simple ring R′ without nontrivial idempotents, that admits a bijective linear map f: R′ → R′, preserving multiplicative commutators, that is not an isomorphism.  相似文献

We study Lie brackets and Jordan products derived from associative operations ○, ? satisfying the interchange identity (w?x) ○ (y?z) ≡ (wy)?(xz). We use computational linear algebra, based on the representation theory of the symmetric group, to determine all polynomial identities of degree ≤7 relating (i) the two Lie brackets, (ii) one Lie bracket and one Jordan product, and (iii) the two Jordan products. For the Lie–Lie case, there are two new identities in degree 6 and another two in degree 7. For the Lie–Jordan case, there are no new identities in degree ≤6 and a complex set of new identities in degree 7. For the Jordan–Jordan case, there is one new identity in degree 4, two in degree 5, and complex sets of new identities in degrees 6 and 7.  相似文献

We describe surjective additive maps θ: A → B which preserve zero products, where A is a ring with a nontrivial idempotent and B is a prime ring. We also characterize surjective additive maps θ: A → B such that for all x, y ∈ A we have θ(x)θ(y)* = 0 if and only if xy* = 0. Here A is a unital prime ring with involution that contains a nontrivial idempotent and B is a prime ring with involution.  相似文献

In this article, a kind of nonregular constraint and a principle for seeking critical point under the constraint are presented, where no Lagrange multiplier is involved. Let E, F be two Banach spaces, g: E → F a c 1 map defined on an open set U in E, and the constraint S = the preimage g ?1(y 0), y 0 ∈ F. A main deference between the nonregular constraint and regular constraint is that g′(x) at any x ∈ S is not surjective. Recently, the critical point theory under the nonregular constraint is a concerned focus in optimization theory. The principle also suits the case of regular constraint. Coordinately, the generalized regular constraint is introduced and the critical point principle on generalized regular constraint is established. Let f: U → ? be a nonlinear functional. While the Lagrange multiplier L in classical critical point principle is considered, its expression is given by using generalized inverse g+(x) of g′(x) as follows: if x ∈ S is a critical point of f| S , then L = f′(x) ○ g+(x) ∈ F*. Moreover, it is proved that if S is a regular constraint, then the Lagrange multiplier L is unique; otherwise, L is ill-posed. Hence, in case of the nonregular constraint, it is very difficult to solve Euler equations; however, it is often the case in optimization theory. So the principle here seems to be new and applicable. By the way, the following theorem is proved: if A ∈ B(E, F) is double split, then the set of all generalized inverses of A, GI(A) is smooth diffeomorphic to certain Banach space. This is a new and interesting result in generalized inverse analysis.  相似文献

We study algebra classes and divisor classes on a normal affine surface of the form z 2 = f(x, y). The affine coordinate ring is T = k[x, y, z]/(z 2 ? f), and if R = k[x, y][f ?1] and S = R[z]/(z 2 ? f), then S is a quadratic Galois extension of R. If the Galois group is G, we show that the natural map H1(G, Cl(T)) → H1(G, Pic(S)) factors through the relative Brauer group B(S/R) and that all of the maps are onto. Sufficient conditions are given for H1(G, Cl(T)) to be isomorphic to B(S/R). The groups and maps are computed for several examples.  相似文献

Let 𝒴 be a smooth connected manifold, Σ ? ? an open set and (σ, y) → 𝒫 y (σ) a family of unbounded Fredholm operators D ? H 1 → H 2 of index 0 depending smoothly on (y, σ) ∈ 𝒴 × Σ and holomorphically on σ. We show how to associate to 𝒫, under mild hypotheses, a smooth vector bundle 𝒦 → 𝒴 whose fiber over a given y ∈ 𝒴 consists of classes, modulo holomorphic elements, of meromorphic elements φ with 𝒫 y φ holomorphic. As applications we give two examples relevant in the general theory of boundary value problems for elliptic wedge operators.  相似文献

Let (A, B) be a nonempty bounded closed convex proximal parallel pair in a nearly uniformly convex Banach space and T: AB → AB be a continuous and asymptotically relatively nonexpansive map. We prove that there exists x ∈ AB such that ‖x ? Tx‖ = dist(A, B) whenever T(A) ? B, T(B) ? A. Also, we establish that if T(A) ? A and T(B) ? B, then there exist x ∈ A and y ∈ B such that Tx = x, Ty = y and ‖x ? y‖ = dist(A, B). We prove the aforementioned results when the pair (A, B) has the rectangle property and property UC. In the case of A = B, we obtain, as a particular case of our results, the basic fixed point theorem for asymptotically nonexpansive maps by Goebel and Kirk.  相似文献

We in this article, introduce a class of hypergroups called ultraspherical hypergroups and show that the Fourier space of an ultraspherical hypergroup forms a Banach algebra under pointwise product. These hypergroups need not be commutative and include for example double coset hypergroups. We also show that the structure space of this algebra equals the underlying hypergroup. Let R be a noncommutative prime ring with extended centroid C and maximal left ring of quotients Qml(R). The aim of the paper is to study a basic functional identity concerning bi-additive maps on R. Precisely, it is proved that a bi-additive map B:R×RQml(R) satisfying [B(x,y),[x,y]] = 0 for all x,yR must be of the form (x,y)?λ[x,y]+μ(x,y) for x,yR, where λ∈C and μ:R×RC is a bi-additive map. As applications to the theorem, Jordan σ-biderivations with σ an epimorphism and additive commuting maps on noncommutative Lie ideals of R are characterized.  相似文献

Let K be a nonempty closed and convex subset of a real reflexive Banach space X that has weakly sequentially continuous duality mapping J. Let T: K → K be a multivalued non-expansive non-self-mapping satisfying the weakly inwardness condition as well as the condition T(y) = {y} for any y ∈ F(T) and such that for a contraction f: K → K and any t ∈ (0, 1), there exists x t  ∈ K satisfying x t  ∈ tf(x t ) + (1 ? t)Tx t . Then it is proved that {x t } ? K converges strongly to a fixed point of T, which is also a solution of certain variational inequality. Moreover, the convergence of two explicit methods are also investigated.  相似文献

We compute the Hochschild cohomology and homology of the algebra Λ = kx, y〉/(x 2, xy + qyx, y 2) with coefficients in 1 Λψ for every degree preserving k-algebra automorphism ψ : Λ → Λ. As a result we obtain several interesting examples of the homological behavior of Λ as a bimodule.  相似文献

For a triangular algebra 𝒜 and an automorphism σ of 𝒜, we describe linear maps F,G:𝒜𝒜 satisfying F(x)y+σ(x)G(y) = 0 whenever x,y𝒜 are such that xy = 0. In particular, when 𝒜 is a zero product determined triangular algebra, maps F and G satisfying the above condition are generalized skew derivations of the form F(x) = F(1)x+D(x) and G(x) = σ(x)G(1)+D(x) for all x𝒜, where D:𝒜𝒜 is a skew derivation. When 𝒜 is not zero product determined, we show that there are also nonstandard solutions for maps F and G.  相似文献

We consider the group G of C-automorphisms of C(x, y) (resp. C[x, y]) generated by s, t such that t(x) = y, t(y) = x and s(x) = x, s(y) = ? y + u(x) where u ∈ C[x] is of degree k ≥ 2. Using Galois's theory, we show that the invariant field and the invariant algebra of G are equal to C.  相似文献

A weak Cayley table isomorphism is a bijection φ:GH of groups such that φ(xy)~φ(x)φ(y) for all x,yG. Here ~ denotes conjugacy. When G = H the set of all weak Cayley table isomorphisms φ:GG forms a group 𝒲(G) that contains the automorphism group Aut(G) and the inverse map I:GG,x?x?1. Let 𝒲0(G) = ?Aut(G),I?≤𝒲(G) and say that G has trivial weak Cayley table group if 𝒲(G) = 𝒲0(G). We show that PSL(2,pn) has trivial weak Cayley table group, where p≥5 is a prime and n≥1.  相似文献

Let S be a semigroup and 𝔽 be a field. For an ideal J of the semigroup algebra 𝔽[S] of S over 𝔽, let ?J denote the restriction (to S) of the congruence on 𝔽[S] defined by the ideal J. A semigroup S is called a permutable semigroup if α ○ β = β ○ α is satisfied for all congruences α and β of S. In this paper we show that if S is a semilattice or a rectangular band then φ{S; 𝔽}J → ?J is a homomorphism of the semigroup (Con(𝔽[S]); ○ ) into the relation semigroup (?S; ○ ) if and only if S is a permutable semigroup.  相似文献

Given A and B two nonempty subsets in a metric space, a mapping T: AB → AB is relatively nonexpansive if d(Tx, Ty) ≤ d(x, y) for every x ∈ A, y ∈ B. A best proximity point for such a mapping is a point x ∈ AB such that d(x, Tx) = dist(A, B). In this work, we extend the results given in Eldred et al. (2005) [A.A. Eldred, W.A. Kirk, P. Veeramani, Proximal normal structure and relatively nonexpansive mappings, Studia Math. 171, 283–293] for relatively nonexpansive mappings in Banach spaces to more general metric spaces. Namely, we give existence results of best proximity points for cyclic and noncyclic relatively nonexpansive mappings in the context of Busemann convex reflexive metric spaces. Moreover, particular results are proved in the setting of CAT(0) and uniformly convex geodesic spaces. Finally, we show that proximal normal structure is a sufficient but not necessary condition for the existence in A × B of a pair of best proximity points.  相似文献
