The vibrational behaviour of beam systems can be expressed in terms of waves of both propagating and near field types. A propagating wave incident upon a discontinuity gives rise to reflected and transmitted waves of both kinds whose amplitudes may be found from well-known reflection and transmission coefficients. In this paper the approach is extended to the case of incident near field waves, reflection and transmission matrices being derived for the cases of a point support and a change in section. Reflection at a boundary and the effects of applied excitations are also considered. It is seen that incident near fields can give rise to substantial propagating components. The application of the results to the analysis of free and forced vibration of beams is then demonstrated. By adopting this approach the effects of the interaction of the near fields with neighbouring discontinuities are fully included. 相似文献

This paper deals with a TE plane wave reflection and transmission from a thin film with one-dimensional disorder by means of the stochastic functional approach. The relative permittivity of the thin film is written by a Gaussian random field in the horizontal direction with infinite extent, and is uniform in the vertical direction with finite thickness. Arandomwavefield is obtained in terms of a Wiener-Hermite expansion representation with approximate expansion coefficients (Wiener kernels) under a small fluctuation case. For a SiC thin film and a glass thin film having one-dimensional disorder with Gaussian correlation or an exponential correlation, numerical examples of the first-order incoherent scattering cross section and the optical theorem are illustrated in the figures. It is then found that ripples and four major peaks appear in angular distributions of the incoherent scattering. Such four peaks may occur in the directions of forward scattering, specular reflection, backscattering and in the symmetrical direction of forward scattering with respect to the normal to surface of the thin film. Physical processes that yield such ripples and peaks are discussed. 相似文献

This paper presents an analytical approach using higher order plate theories to determine wave reflections from and transmissions through a damaged region in a beam. The damaged region is either treated as two split beams or as an inhomogeneity. The reflection ratios and transmission ratios are found to depend strongly on the frequency of the incident flexural waves, as well as the size of the damage, which gives rise to strong stop/pass band behaviour. Using the spectral analysis method, the transient wave propagation in a beam with a part-through delamination is predicted and compared with experimental results, indicating a good agreement in the phases and amplitudes of both the reflected and transmitted waves. 相似文献

In this paper, we put forward a new version of Cantor fractal multilayers, which are nonlinear medium, and investigate its properties of reflection and transmission when a plane wave is obliquely incident upon it. A new exact self-similarity algorithm that make use of the self -similarity of these structure are developed. The results for different stages of fractal growth within the first-order nonlinear approximation are found. Compared with the traditional chain-matrix approach, the scheme provides the reflection and transmission coefficients for any stage (S) with much less calculation time on a personal computer. 相似文献

This paper describes the electroacoustic behaviour of a new piezoelectric Active Noise Reduction (ANR) earplug device. The sensor is a microphone having suitable characteristics chosen from among commercially available electret microphones. The actuator is a cylindrical piezoelectric ceramic loaded with a thin fluid film. An analytic model of laterally radiating loudspeaker, based on fundamental equations of acoustics, which takes into account the effect of viscosity and heat conduction is adapted to describe the acoustic radiation of the actuator. Theoretical and experimental frequency responses in a small cavity and an example of the ANR that can be obtained with the earplug are presented. 相似文献

In waveguide structures, waves may be partially reflected by local non-uniformities such as cracks and other defects. The reflection and transmission characteristics associated with the presence of a discontinuity may be used, in principle, to give some indication of both the location and size of the defect. A combined spectral element and finite element (SE/FE) method has been used previously to investigate the effects of local non-uniformities at relatively low frequencies. However, for analysis at higher frequencies, where complex deformation of the waveguide occurs, it is necessary to extend this approach. Such high frequency analysis is necessary if small defects are to be located within the waveguide cross-section. In order to investigate wave propagation at higher frequencies, a combined spectral super element and finite element (SSE/FE) method is presented. This method allows the transmission, reflection and wave conversion at discontinuities to be determined for complex waveguides. As an example of the use of this method, wave reflection and transmission in rails are estimated at frequencies between 20 and 40 kHz for various notional sawcut-like defects of progressively increasing size. This shows the feasibility of the approach for realistic waveguides. However, from these simulations it is shown that defects have to be quite large before they can be detected using a single transducer position on the rail cross-section using train-induced vibration. 相似文献

A new approach in which tunneling of a quantum particle through a one-dimensional potential barrier is treated as a combined process involving two alternative elementary transmission and reflection processes is presented. It is demonstrated that the wave function describing the state of the entire quantum ensemble of particles can unambiguously be expressed as a sum of two other solutions of the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation (ODSE) that describe the states of sub-ensembles of transmitted and reflected particles in all stages of scattering. 相似文献

This paper presents an optimal design for a system comprising a nonlinear energy sink (NES) and a piezoelectric-based vibration energy harvester attached to a free–free beam under shock excitation. The energy harvester is used for scavenging vibration energy dissipated by the NES. Grounded and ungrounded configurations are examined and the systems parameters are optimized globally to both maximize the dissipated energy by the NES and increase the harvested energy by piezoelectric element. A satisfactory amount of energy has been harvested as electric power in both configurations. The realization of nonlinear vibration control through one-way irreversible nonlinear energy pumping and optimizing the system parameters result in acquiring up to 78 percent dissipation of the grounded system energy. 相似文献

A study of surface polariton electric fields incident on a periodic rough surface is done. Expression for the components of the diffuse reflected and transmitted fields are calculated to first order in the roughness amplitude. The frequency dependence of the reflection and transmission factors is found to have a structure within the surface polariton frequency range. 以飞秒激光放大器作为光源联合使用瞬态反射/透射实验技术研究了纳米Au半透明纳米薄膜中非平衡载能粒子的热传导过程. 在相同实验条件下, 发现该薄膜的瞬态透射和反射信号明显不同并且延迟时间在5.0–7.5 ps时瞬态透射信号的符号发生改变. 对纳米薄膜的透射和反射信号进行了对比分析, 分别使用双温模型和Crude近似进行数据模拟并拟合, 分析认为沿膜厚方向的温度梯度变化和界面热阻效应引起介电函数的变化不同, 从而引起了瞬态透射信号和反射信号的不同. 对于半透明金属纳米薄膜需要同时考虑其瞬态透射和反射影响才能得到准确的瞬态吸收结果. 随着抽运脉冲能量的增加, 可以看到上升时间约为1.0 ps, 电子-晶格弛豫时间增加. 相似文献

A method of comparing the sound transmission characteristics of various materials, and combinations of materials, is presented, using a modified impedance tube technique. The procedure proved to be relatively quick and inexpensive in comparison with standard reverberation suite tests, and is therefore particularly useful for the qualitative ranking of multiple samples.The limitations of the technique are discussed in some detail, and particular emphasis is given to the problems of small sample size and method of mounting in the apparatus. 相似文献

The interaction of opposing TE-waves in a nonlinear cubical dielectric located in a waveguide of arbitrary cross-section is examined. It is shown that the propagation constants of the interacting waves are functions of the combination of the amplitudes of those waves. We study the attenuation, caused by weak damping, of harmonic waves through a discrete, periodic structure with frequency nominally within the Propagation Zone (i.e., propagation occurs in the absence of the damping). The period of the structure consists of a linear stiffness and a weak linear/nonlinear damping. Adapting the transfer matrix method and using harmonic balance for the nonlinear terms, a four-dimensional linear/nonlinear map governing the dynamics is obtained. We analyze this map by applying the method of multiple scales upto first order. The resulting slow evolution equations give the amplitude decay rate in the structure. The approximations are validated by comparing with other analytical solutions for the linear case and full numerics for the nonlinear case. Good agreement is obtained. The method of analysis presented here can be extended to more complex structures. 相似文献
