The steady flow of an incompressible viscous non-Newtonian fluid above an infinite rotating porous disk in a porous medium is studied with heat transfer. A uniform injection or suction is applied through the surface of the disk. Numerical solutions of the non-linear differential equations which govern the hydrodynamics and energy transfer are obtained. The effect of the porosity of the medium, the characteristics of the non-Newtonian fluid and the suction or injection velocity on the velocity and temperature distributions is considered. The inclusion of the three effects, the porosity, the non-Newtonian characteristics, and the suction or injection velocity together has shown some interesting effects.  相似文献

The unsteady Couette–Poiseuille flow of an electrically conducting incompressible non-Newtonian viscoelastic fluid between two parallel horizontal non-conducting porous plates is studied with heat transfer considering the Hall effect. A sudden uniform and constant pressure gradient, an external uniform magnetic field that is perpendicular to the plates and uniform suction and injection through the surface of the plates are applied. The two plates are kept at different but constant temperatures while the Joule and viscous dissipations are taken into consideration. Numerical solutions for the governing momentum and energy equations are obtained using finite difference approximations. The effect of the Hall term, the parameter describing the non-Newtonian behavior, and the velocity of suction and injection on both the velocity and temperature distributions is examined.  相似文献

The unsteady magnetohydrodynamic flow of an electrically conducting viscous incompressible non-Newtonian Bingham fluid bounded by two parallel non-conducting porous plates is studied with heat transfer considering the Hall effect. An external uniform magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the plates and the fluid motion is subjected to a uniform suction and injection. The lower plate is stationary and the upper plate moves with a constant velocity and the two plates are kept at different but constant temperatures. Numerical solutions are obtained for the governing momentum and energy equations taking the Joule and viscous dissipations into consideration. This paper deals with the steady forced flow of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid against a porous rotating disk when a uniform magnetic field acts perpendicular to the disk surface. For small suction the equations of motion are integrated numerically by Kármán-Pohlhausen method, but for large suction a series solution in the inverse powers of the suction parameter is obtained. The effects of disk porosity and magnetic field on the various flow parameters are discussed in detail.  相似文献

An unsteady free convective flow through porous media of viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid through a vertical porous channel with thermal radiation is studied. A magnetic field of uniform strength is applied perpendicular to the vertical channel. The magnetic Reynolds number is assumed very small so that the induced magnetic field effect is negligible. The injection and suction velocity at both plates is constant and is given by v 0. The pressure gradient in the channel varies periodically with time along the axis of the channel. The temperature difference of the plates is high enough to induce the radiative heat. Taking Hall current and Soret effect into account, equations of motion, energy, and concentration are solved. The effects of the various parameters, entering into the problem, on velocity, temperature and concentration field are shown graphically.  相似文献

The problem of incompressible, electrically conducting viscous laminar flow between two non-conducting coaxial discs is studied, in the presence of transverse magnetic field of uniform intensity, when there is constant injection or suction at the discs. The problem is interesting both mathematically and physically. The solution, for small suction or injection, has been obtained for highly viscous fluid. This study presents the solution for the MHD transient Couette flow in an annulus formed by two concentric porous cylinders of infinite length. The fluid flow is induced by either the impulsive or the accelerated movements of the outer cylinder. A uniform magnetic field is assumed to be applied perpendicular to the direction of flow. General solution of the governing equations is obtained using a combination of Laplace transform and the Riemann-sum approximation method of Laplace inversion. The expressions for the skin friction at the two walls are obtained in both cases. The variations of the velocity and the skin friction with respect to the Hartmann number and suction/injection parameter have been discussed. It is found out that suction accelerates the flow whereas injection retards the flow.  相似文献

A viscous incompressible fluid between two plane boundaries is stratified by maintaining the planes at different temperatures. The upper plane moves with a uniform velocity. The suction/injection mechanism with constant injection velocity at the upper plane and suction velocity varying sinusoidally along the lower plane with a wave numberk is introduced at the boundaries. The steady linearised equations are solved using similarity variables for the velocity components. The wave numberk is shown to be effective in controlling the boundary layer thickness.  相似文献

The effects of Hall current and heat transfer on the rotating flow of a second grade fluid past a porous plate with variable suction are examined. The medium considered is porous and suction and external flow velocities vary periodically. The plate is assumed to be at a higher temperature than the fluid. The influences of the Hall parameter and porosity of the medium have been seen and discussed on the velocity and temperature profiles. Moreover, these influences have also been seen on the drag and lateral stress. Finally, the obtained solutions are also compared with the previous studies in the literature and found quite agreement.  相似文献

In this paper, suction and injection effects are investigated theoretically on the structure of the lower branch neutral stability modes of three-dimensional small disturbances imposed on the compressible boundary layer flow due to a rotating disk. In a recent study [ 1 ], it was demonstrated that the short-wavelength stationary/nonstationary compressible crossflow vortex modes at sufficiently high Reynolds numbers with reasonably small scaled frequencies can be described by an asymptotic expansion procedure as set up in [ 2 ] for the incompressible stationary modes, which rigorously takes into account the nonparallel effects. Employing this rational asymptotic technique, it is shown here that the wavenumber and the orientation of the compressible lower branch modes are governed by an eigenrelation that is under the strong influence of a suction/injection parameter     , which, when set to zero, the relation turns out to be the one obtained previously by Turkyilmazoglu [ 1 ] for zero-suction compressible modes.
The boundary layer growth contributes in the way of destabilizing all the modes, in particular for the compressible modes, though the wall cooling in the case of suction and the wall insulation and heating in the case of injection are found to persist to the destabilization for the modes in the vicinity of the stationary mode. From a linear stability analysis point of view, suction is found to be stabilizing, whereas injection enhances the instability as compared to the no suction through the surface of the disk. In both cases, positive frequency waves are found to be highly destabilized as compared to the waves having negative frequencies. The findings of the work are also fully supported after a comparison between the numerical results obtained from directly solving the linearized compressible system with a usual parallel flow approximation and the asymptotic compressible data obtained at a high Reynolds number.  相似文献

The effect of suction/injection on the laminar mixed convectionboundary-layer flow about a vertical wall in an incompressibleviscous fluid is considered. The similarity solutions are obtainedfor some values of the suction/injection parameter as well asthe mixed convection parameter for three particular cases: uniformtemperature, uniform heat flux and stagnation flow. The resultingsystem of non-linear ordinary differential equations is solvednumerically for both assisting and opposing flow regimes usinga finite-difference scheme known as the Keller box method. Numericalresults are obtained for the skin friction coefficient and localNusselt number as well as velocity and temperature profiles.The effects of the involved parameters on the skin frictioncoefficient and the local Nusselt number characteristics arediscussed. It is found that dual solutions exist for assistingflow, besides that usually reported in the literature for opposingflow.  相似文献

In this work, we give a perturbation theorem for strong polynomial solutions to the zero surface tension Hele-Shaw equation driven by injection or suction, the so called Polubarinova–Galin equation. This theorem enables us to explore properties of solutions with initial functions close to polynomials. Applications of this theorem are given in the suction and injection cases. In the former case, we show that if the initial domain is close to a disk, most of the fluid will be sucked before the strong solution blows up. In the latter case, we obtain precise large-time rescaling behaviors for large data to Hele-Shaw flows in terms of invariant Richardson complex moments. This rescaling behavior result generalizes a recent result regarding large-time rescaling behavior for small data in terms of moments. As a byproduct of a theorem in this paper, a short proof of existence and uniqueness of strong solutions to the Polubarinova–Galin equation is given.  相似文献

The effect of suction is to supply an adverse pressure gradient to the fluid which causes back flow near the stationary plate. 根据有旋特征线理论,设计出了沿程马赫数下降规律可控的轴对称基准流场,分析了基准流场的几何参数(前缘压缩角及中心体半径)的影响规律,发现选取较小的前缘压缩角和中心体半径有利于得到性能优良的基准流场;然后在设计状态Ma=6时研究了三种典型的马赫数下降规律对这种轴对称流场性能的影响。最后考虑了粘性的影响,并进行了粘性修正探索,结果表明,采用附面层位移厚度修正方法后,基准流场的壁面压力分布和无粘情况吻合良好。   相似文献

The magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow due to non-coaxial rotations of a porous disk, moving with uniform acceleration in its own plane and a second grade fluid at infinity is examined. The fluid is electrically conducting in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. The effects of non-Newtonian fluid characteristics and uniform acceleration of the disk on the velocity field are presented both analytically and numerically. Hydromagnetic heat transfer by mixed convection along an inclined continuously stretching surface, with power-law variation in the surface temperature or heat flux, in the presence of Hall current and internal heat generation/absorption has been studied. The surface is considered to be permeable to allow fluid suction or blowing, and stretching with a surface velocity varied according to a power-law. Two cases of the temperature boundary conditions were considered at the surface. The governing equations have been transformed into non-similar partial differential equations which have been integrated by the forth-order Runge–Kutta method. The effect of Hall parameter, magnetic parameter, dimensionless blowing/suction parameter, space and temperature dependent internal heat generation/absorption parameters and buoyancy force parameters on the temperature, primary and secondary flow velocity have been studied parametrically. All parameters involved in the problem affect the flow and thermal distributions except the temperature-dependent internal heat generation/absorption in the case of prescribed heat flux (PHF). Numerical values of the local skin-friction and the local Nusselt numbers for various parametric conditions have been tabulated.  相似文献
