The effect of an external magnetic field with a strength up to 140 kOe on the phase transitions in manganese arsenide single crystals has been investigated. The existence of unstable magnetic and crystal structures at temperatures above the Curie temperature T C = 308 K has been established. The displacements of manganese and arsenic atoms during the magnetostructural phase transition and the shift in the temperature of the first-order magnetostructural phase transition in a magnetic field have been determined. It has been shown that the magnetocaloric effect in a magnetic field of 140 kOe near the Curie temperature T C is equal to ??T ?? 13 K. A model of the superparamagnetic state in MnAs above the temperature T C has been proposed using the data on the magnetic properties and structural transformation in the region of the first-order magnetostructural phase transition. It has been demonstrated that, at temperatures close to T C, apart from the contribution to the change in the entropy from the change in the magnetization there is a significant contribution from the transformation of the crystal lattice due to the magnetostructural phase transition.  相似文献

0.85 Sr0.15MnO3 system has been investigated. Enlargements of lattice parameters with grain growth have been observed. Associated with this growth are a series of magnetic changes, including magnetization, Curie temperature Tc and superparamagnetic behavior. These phenomena may provide another route to understanding the relationship between structure and magnetism in the hole-doped manganese perovskites. In the compound MnBi, a first-order transition from the paramagnetic to the ferromagnetic state can be triggered by an applied magnetic field and the Curie temperature increases nearly linearly with an increase in magnetic field by ∼2 K/T. Under a field of 10 T, TC increases by 20 and 22 K during heating and cooling, respectively. Under certain conditions a reversible magnetic field or temperature induced transition between the paramagnetic and ferromagnetic states can occur. A magnetic and crystallographic H-T phase diagram for MnBi is given. Magnetic properties of MnBi compound aligned in a Bi matrix have been investigated. In the low temperature phase MnBi, a spin-reorientation takes place during which the magnetic moments rotate from being parallel to the c-axis towards the basal plane at ∼90 K. A measuring Dc magnetic field applied parallel to the c-axis of MnBi suppresses partly the spin-reorientation transition. Interestingly, the fabricated magnetic field increases the temperature of spin-reorientation transition Ts and the change in magnetization for MnBi. For the sample solidified under 0.5 T, the change in magnetization is ∼70% and Ts is ∼91 K.  相似文献

We present a detailed magnetic critical behavior study of Fe2CrAl Heusler alloy, for the first time, with rigorous analysis of high precision magnetization data obtained over the critical temperature region. Our studies confirm that B2 type site-disordered in Fe2CrAl alloy exhibits long-range ferromagnetic order below a well defined Curie temperature (T=208 K). Though the nature of this transition is found to be of second order, the estimated critical exponents β=0.42, γ=1.356 and δ=4.25, are in between the theoretically predicted values for three-dimensional Heisenberg and mean-field interaction models. However, it is noteworthy that the scaling relations are obeyed indicating renormalization of interactions around the Curie temperature (TC), where magnetization data collapse into two separate branches, above and below TC. This conclusively shows that calculated critical exponents as well as critical temperature are unambiguous and intrinsic to the system. However, magnetization vs temperature data shows another magnetic transition (at T=313 K) above the Curie temperature. It is shown that the short range magnetic correlation exist even beyond TC with cluster moment ∼102 μB. This is attributed to a site disorder which results in formation of Cr clusters with short range ferromagnetic order.  相似文献

Temperature dependences of heat capacity CP(T) and magnetization M(T) of an icosahedral dysprosium boride (DyB62) single crystal have been experimentally investigated in the temperature range of 2-300 K. The magnetic susceptibility χ(T) of DyB62 follows Curie-Weiss law with a paramagnetic Curie temperature of −3.7 K, which implies that the antiferromagnetic interactions are dominant in this material and suggests the possibility of magnetic ordering at low temperatures. This conjecture is supported by the temperature dependence of heat capacity CP(T), which decreases upon heating from 2 to 7 K. The heat capacity of DyB62 at 2 K is analyzed as a sum of magnetic, Debye, two-level system and soft atomic potential components.  相似文献

Ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) with an anomalous angular dependence has been observed in the Ge:(Mn, Al)/GaAs nanolayers deposited from laser plasma at a reduced temperature of 150°C. The resonance is associated with the needle-like inclusions of a high-temperature ferromagnetic phase with the Curie temperature T C > 293 K. Such a magnetic anisotropy is confirmed by the atomicforce and magneticforce microscopy of a side chip. A low-temperature ferromagnetic phase with normal FMR and T C < 212 K is formed between the needle-like inclusions. This phase manifests itself in the anomalous Hall effect at 77 K and probably is a solid solution of manganese in germanium.

Ferromagnetic order in the thermodynamically stable, pseudomorphic monolayer Fe(110) on W(110), coated by Ag, was studied in situ in UHV using Conversion Electron Mössbauer Spectroscopy (CEMS) and Torsion Oscillation Magnetometry (TOM). Films near the monolayer coverage, prepared at 475 K, consist of nearly independent monolayer and double-layer patches. The properties of monolayer patches are nearly independent of the mean film thickness resulting in excellent conditions to determine the true monolayer properties. The Curie temperature is reduced toT c, mono= 282 K = 0.27 Tc,bulk, the ground state hyperfine field is reduced toB hf(0)=11.9 T = 0.35B hf,bulk(0) and the magnetic moment per atom is enhanced to(0) = 2.53 B=1.14(0)bulk. Remanent magnetization is detected forT 260 K=0.92T c, mono, square loop magnetization forT 230 K=0.82T c, mono. Unusual properties of the phase transition are detected by the combination of both experimental techniques.  相似文献

The accurate determination of the Curie temperature (TC) is particularly important in describing the magnetic behavior close to the paramagnetic-ferromagnetic (PM-FM) phase transition. In this paper, we studied the magnetic phase transition and accurately predicted the Curie point of perovskite manganite La0.825Sr0.175MnO3. We find the compound shows a second-order PM-FM transition and has a large magnetic entropy change (MEC) in vicinity of phase transition region. Based on the scaling law and the correlation between magnetic field and MEC, the precise and magnetic-independent Curie temperature was determined to be 281.7 K, obviously lower than 285.4 K decided from the magnetization versus temperature. The reliability of new Curie temperature can be well confirmed by the modified Arrott plot together with the critical exponents. Our results not only open up a new pathway for precise definition of Curie point but also facilitate the efficient exploitation of spontaneous magnetic bubbles in perovskite manganite.  相似文献

The dependence on temperature of the layer magnetization of a Heisenberg ferromagnetic ultrathin film in presence of magnetocrystalline single-ion anisotropy was theoretically investigated in the framework of a Green's function approach using the random phase approximation (RPA). The effect of surface orientation and of film thickness N on the Curie temperature TC was carefully investigated in the case of face centered cubic (FCC) films: the steepest increase of TC(N) was found in the case of the FCC(1 1 1) orientation and the smoothest in the FCC(1 1 0) one. Our results for TC(N) were successfully fitted by a finite-size scaling relation [TC(∞)−TC(N)]/TC(N)=(N/N0)λ, giving a shift exponent λ≃1.5, irrespectively of the surface orientation. Finally, the temperature evolution of the magnetization profile was analyzed, as well as its limiting shape at TC.  相似文献

Structural and magnetic changes on invar Fe64Ni36 alloy (TC = 500 K) produced by mechanical milling followed by heating up to 1073 K, were investigated by neutron diffraction, magnetization measurements, X‐ray diffraction under high pressures and X‐ray absorption at both Fe and Ni K‐edges. We argue that the strain induced in the Fe64Ni36 material after this treatment mainly affects the Fe sites due to the magnetovolume coupling, the most notorious feature being the increase of the Curie temperature (ΔTC = 70 K). The magnetization and electrical resistivity of Mn3−xFexSnC (0.5≤x≤1.3) were measured to investigate the behavior of the complicated magnetic phase transitions and electronic transport properties from 5 to 300 K. The results obtained demonstrate that Fe doping at the Mn sites of Mn3SnC induces a more complicated magnetic phase transition than that in its parent phase Mn3SnC from a paramagnetic (PM) state to a ferrimagnetic (FI) state consisting of antiferromagnetic (AFM) and ferromagnetic (FM) components, while, with the change of Fe-doped content and magnetic field, there is a competition between the AFM component and FM component in the FI state. Both the Curie temperature (TC) and the saturated magnetization Ms increase with increasing x. The FM component region becomes broader with further increasing Fe-doped content x. The external magnetic field easily creates a saturated FM state (and increased TC) when . Fe doping quenches the negative thermal expansion (NTE) behavior from 200 to 250 K reported in Mn3SnC.  相似文献

Magnetization and susceptibility were investigated as a function of temperature and magnetic field in polycrystalline Mn[Cr0.5Ga1.5]S4 spinel. The dc susceptibility measurements at 919 Oe showed a disordered ferrimagnetic behaviour with a Curie-Weiss temperature θCW=−55 K and an effective magnetic moment of 5.96 μB close to the spin-only value of 6.52 μB for Cr3+ and Mn2+ ions in the 3d3 and 3d5 configurations, respectively. The magnetization measured at 100 Oe revealed the multiple magnetic transitions with a sharp maximum at the Néel temperature TN=3.9 K, a minimum at the Yafet-Kittel temperature TYK=5 K, a broad maximum at the freezing temperature Tf=7.9 K, and an inflection point at the Curie temperature TC=48 K indicating a transition to paramagnetic phase. A large splitting between the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) magnetizations at a temperature smaller than TC suggests the presence of spin-glass-like behaviour. This behaviour is considered in a framework of competing interactions between the antiferromagnetic ordering of the A(Mn) sublattice and the ferromagnetic ordering of the B(Cr) sublattice.  相似文献

Single-crystals of the new ferromagnetic superconductor UCoGe have been grown. The quality of as-grown samples can be significantly improved by a heat-treatment procedure, which increases the residual resistance ratio (RRR) from ∼5 to ∼30. Magnetization M(T) and resistivity ρ(T) measurements show the annealed samples have a sharp ferromagnetic transition with a Curie temperature TC is 2.8 K. The ordered moment of 0.06 μB is directed along the orthorhombic c-axis. Superconductivity is found below a resistive transition temperature Ts=0.65 K.  相似文献

The magnetization of maghemite and magnetite thin films is measured as a function of the temperature and orientation of the film. It is established that the temperature dependence of the spontaneous magnetization deviates from the Bloch law at low temperatures and is adequately described by the linear function M/M s = 2.2(1-T/T C) below the Curie temperature T C. The linear temperature dependence of the magnetization below the Curie temperature is explained by the change in the spin of iron ions in tetrahedral positions due to local deformations of the crystal lattice.  相似文献

The field dependence of magnetic entropy change ΔSM(T,H) has been studied in the crystalline sample Nd1.25Fe11Ti, a multiphase system constituted by three phases: Fe17Nd2, Fe7Nd and Fe11TiNd. The magnetic entropy change has been calculated from the numerical derivative of magnetization curves M(T,H) with respect to temperature and subsequent integration in field. To determine the field dependence of the experimental ΔSM, a local exponent n(T,H) can be calculated from the logarithmic derivative of the magnetic entropy change vs. field. In contrast with the results for single phase materials, where n at the Curie temperature TC is field independent, it is shown that for a multiphase system n evolves with field both at the Curie temperature of the system and the Curie temperatures of the constituent phases. This is in agreement with numerical simulations using the Arrott-Noakes equation of state.  相似文献

Dielectric strontium bismuth titanate ceramics SrTiO3: Bi is a complex solid solution consisting of the Sr1?uBi2u/3u/3TiO3 perovskite matrix and small planar inclusions related to Aurivillius-type layered ferroelectric compounds with a high Curie temperature TC (700–950 K). The matrix is characterized by a smeared ferroelectric phase transition in the temperature range 150–200 K and exhibits relaxation dielectric polarization. At temperatures below but close to the Curie temperature TC, the state of the ceramics can be treated as superparaelectric. The concentration dependence of the temperature corresponding to the maximum of the permittivity is explained.  相似文献

The influence of low-temperature annealing on the magnetic hysteresis loop parameters of magnetostrictive Co-Si-B and nonmagnetostrictive Co-Fe-Si-B glasses was studied. The dependence of Curie temperature (TC), crystallization temperature (Tx), full-stress-relaxation temperature, saturation magnetostriction constant, saturation magnetization and coercive field Hc on metalloids contents for as quenched Co100-x(Si0.5B0.5)x glasses was determined. It was found that annealing enhances remanence magnetization for all investigated Co-Si-B glasses. The coercive field of these glasses is influenced by annealing owing to: stress relaxation (resulting in an Hc decrease) and domain structure stabilization (resulting in an Hc increase). Significant Hc reduction for both magnetostrictive and non-magnetostrictive glasses was observed, after annealing above TC. For glasses with TC<>Tx, it was necessary to apply an external magnetic field in ord er to decrease Hc.It was found that non-magnetostrictive metallic glasses with low Curie temperatures (TC ? 450 K) exhibit the most stable magnetic hysteresis loop parameters.  相似文献

Orthoferrites present, as bulk materials, reorientation transitions of their magnetic moment alignment at temperatures depending on the rare-earth (RE) ion. In particular, orthoferrites (REFeO3) with RE = Sm, Dy, present this transition at T SRT = 443 K and 36 K, respectively. The spectra of the complex Kerr and Faraday angle have been measured on orthoferrite thin films (RE = Sm, Dy, Y), which were prepared by pulsed laser deposition on amorphous quartz substrates. The obtained spectra exhibit contributions of both surfaces and interfaces. Propagation effects of the polarized light in the magneto-optical medium which is interpreted in terms of a simplified theoretical formalism, is also observed. For selected photon energies, temperature dependent Faraday rotation measurements, , on orthoferrite thin films (RE = Sm, Dy, Y) have been performed. A quite different thermal variation compared to the bulk magnetization has been observed. Curie temperatures are found to be close to the bulk values or slightly larger by 10 K to 20 K as in the case of DyFeO3 and YFeO3. For RE = Sm and Dy, increases with increasing temperature contrary to the saturation magnetization, passes through a maximum at about 460 K and vanishes with a T C of 647±18 K, 695 K for RE = Sm and Dy respectively. The temperature (T = 77–420 K) dependences of the electrical resistivity and the magnetization, the magnetic-field (H ≤ 5 kOe) and pressure (P ≤ 7 GPa) dependences of the resistivity, the Hall coefficient, and the magnetization have been measured in the Zn0.1Cd0.9GeAs2 + 10 wt % MnAs composite with the Curie temperature T C = 310 K. The magnetoresistive effect has been observed at high hydrostatic pressure to 7 GPa. At nearly room temperature, the pressure dependence of the magnetization demonstrated a transition from the ferromagnetic to paramagnetic state at P ~ 3.2 GPa that was accompanied by the semiconductor–metal phase transition.  相似文献
