This paper presents the comparison of using least mean square time-domain equalizer (LMS-TEQ) and decision feedback time-domain equalizer (DF-TEQ) to reduce cyclic prefix (CP) length for direct-detection of optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (O-OFDM) over 6960 km of single mode fiber (SMF). Both TEQs are used immediately after the channel. Numerical modeling results show that they can cancel the residual inter symbol interference (ISI) and inter carrier interference (ICI) caused by both the group velocity dispersion (GVD) and the CP length being shorter than the channel impulse response (CIR). Using these TEQs allow the reduction of CP length, and consequently leading to system performance improvement. On the other hand, each of TEQs adds complexity to the system. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyze and compare the performance of LMS-TEQ and DF-TEQ while considering different CP length and complexity.  相似文献

In OFDM systems, the Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) and the Inter-Block Interference (IBI) are mitigated by using Null-Tones (NTs) and the Guard Interval (GI) redundancy of length higher than the channel size. To preserve a high bit rate, channel shortening is required to reduce the GI length. We propose here a new adaptive method for the blind estimation of the Time domain EQualizer (TEQ) for time varying communication channels. Our contribution is three-fold. First, we exploit the knowledge of the first emitted symbol in a differential encoded OFDM system to derive the initial estimate of the TEQ. Then, we update the TEQ coefficients according to the channel variation by optimizing a criterion exploiting both the GI and NT redundancies and using a fast Generalized Eigen Value (GEV) tracking algorithm. Finally, the optimization of the previous criterion is achieved in such a way we control the Target Impulse Response (TIR) quality and we improve the overall system performance. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the performance of our method and assess our theoretical derivations.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a simple system for defect enhancement in periodic masks, enabling in this way their rapid localization. The system uses the fact that periodic structures under coherent illumination generate replicas of itself displaced half period at certain distances (1/2-Talbot’s length). Projecting back this displaced self-image onto the mask creates a suppression of the periodic structure. If the mask presents defects, the cancellation of the periodic structure allows their detection since the self-imaging phenomenon occurs only for the periodic structure. The technique may be applied to transmission masks like semiconductor wafers, photomasks for integrated circuits or LCD panels.  相似文献

Multiple Path Interference (MPI) and Multiple Access Interference (MAI) are important factors that affect the performance of Chinese Area Positioning System (CAPS). These problems can be solved by using spreading sequences with ideal properties and multi-user detectors. Chaotic sequences based on Chebyshev map are studied and the satellite communication system model is set up to investigate the application of chaotic sequences for CAPS in this paper. Simulation results show that chaotic sequences have desirable correlation properties and it is easy to generate a large number of chaotic sequences with good security. It has great practical value to apply chaotic sequences to CAPS together with multi-user detecting technology and the system performance can be improved greatly. Differential output-ports choosing probability (DOCP) scheme is a novel traffic outputting model for core router in optical burst switching (OBS) network. In this paper, we provide an analytical model for studying the performance of traffic blocking and delay in DOCP-applied OBS network. We first evaluate blocking probabilities using DOCP and confirm it by simulation. Then, in optical buffer-equipped OBS core router, we consider the average delay time for buffered traffic and the average total traffic queueing length in core router. The knowledge of delay performance is useful for the optical buffer architecture configuration in differential traffic scenario. Several results indicate that, under the same load condition, the blocking probabilities and the delay time will change along with the changeable ports choosing probability and the ratio between different length bursts in the OBS system.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the performance of optical burst switched networks for erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) and semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs). We show that EDFAs are more suitable for burst switching as compared to SOAs. We further investigate the burst length for 18, 24.6 and 55 km optical switched network. It is observed that burst length should neither be very small nor very large. If the burst length is small, throughput will be less, and if the burst length is very large, delay will be very large. This is due to higher wait times incurred when packets are formed into larger bursts causing additional overall delay. It is observed that performance decreases up to a small burst length of 1500 μs, which is the minimum burst length required for the creation of the burst. Once this burst is created, there is significant improvement in the quality factor up to 3000 μs. After this burst length, the performance again degrades. Hence the burst length can be optimized for the best quality factor in optical burst switched networks. We further show that by increasing EDFA gain, the quality deteriorates as increasing the EDFA gain results in increased levels of additive phase noise, which can further induce nonlinearities.  相似文献

针对水声滤波器组多载波(Filter Bank MultiCarrier,FBMC)传统均衡方法效率低、复杂度高等问题,提出了单阵元无源时间反转镜(Passive Time Reversal Mirror,PTRM)和虚拟时间反转镜(Virtual Time Reversal Mirror,VTRM)的均衡算法,该算法利用时间聚焦原理可以降低水声信道带来的符号间干扰(Inter Symbol Interference,ISI),并且不需要在FBMC符号中插入导频,进一步提高了通信速率.通过仿真和外场实验验证了水声FBMC系统采用单阵元PTRM和VTRM的有效性,结果表明,这两种均衡方法能够有效减少ISI,提高系统可靠性能。   相似文献

This paper presents an algorithm to minimize the performance loss (PL) of minimum mean square error (MMSE) in code division multiple access (CDMA) based optical multiple input multiple output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (O-MIMO-OFDM) systems over 1200 km of standard single mode fiber (SSMF). In order to meet the ultra high speed and ultra long-haul transmission distance in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems, the nonlinear impairment affecting the overall spectral efficiency and system performance should be minimized. This paper proposes a strategy to mitigate the four-wave mixing (FWM) effect in WDM system. The strategy determines the effect of both single and combined effects of second, third, and fourth optimization priority parameters such as fiber length, input power, dispersion, channel spacing, and effective area on FWM power. A comparison study was made under different types of optical fiber such as single-mode fiber (SMF), dispersion shifted fiber, non-zero dispersion fiber, and non-zero dispersion shifted fiber. In addition, the system performance in term of bit-error-rate was calculated in the case of single priority (impact of effective area) and combined priority (impact of effective area, input power, fiber length and channel spacing). The results show that the FWM effect was reduced based on the transmission parameters order of optimization, i.e., priority selection proposed. Moreover, the results indicated that increasing sequentially the effective area, fiber length; channel spacing and decreasing the input power provide the most significant sequence in suppressing the effects of FWM. This priority sequence brought the suppression ratio to approximately 26.3% in SMF, which suppressed the FWM effects up to −50 dBm. In term of BER; the combined priority introduces improvement in BER of 2.31 × 10−25 in comparison with single priority that has value of BER 4 × 10−14. Finally, this work suggests that the proposed priority-based parameter optimization strategy is an ideal solution for optimum performance of WDM system.  相似文献

The design of a new family of two-dimensional single pulse per column codes for optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) networks is reported. The 1-D modified pseudo-noise codes have been known to be orthogonal and their generation and system design based on these codes is rather simple. But their performance is limited due to the bandwidth constraints if the code length increases. Hence, using these 1-D modified pseudo-noise codes, modified 2-D pseudo-noise matrix codes (MPMCs) are generated. The system performance is evaluated for two, three and four simultaneous users using the link with all the sources responsible for degradation included: attenuation, chromatic dispersion, non-linear refractive effects, non-linear scattering and four-wave mixing. The effect of the non-linear and lossy dispersive medium over the system performance is shown by plotting the BER with respect to the link length for the systems designed using encoders/decoders base on 1-D modified pseudo-noise codes and our MPMCs. The performance is compared for the two types of codes by finding the crosstalk due to interfering users simultaneously operating in the network.  相似文献

Several experimental techniques have been developed to utilize spin-polarized xenon gas for sensitivity and selectivity enhancement in surface studies using solid-state NMR. Although previously reported as a viable spin polarization transfer mechanism, the details of high-field cross-polarization (CP) have not been thoroughly investigated. We recently reported observations of CP from an adsorbed layer of hyperpolarized xenon (HP Xe) to a variety of surface nuclei at temperatures as high as 323 K [J. Am. Chem. Soc. 105 (2001) 1412]. In this paper, we investigate many of the issues associated with HP Xe surface CP studies, including polarization transfer kinetics and the effects of temperature on the dynamics. Protonated and methylated silica samples are used as model systems for comparison. A comparison of the rate analysis data from CP and SPINOE (Spin Polarization-Induced Nuclear Overhauser Effect) experiments provides information on the origin of the difference in polarization transfer efficiencies between the two techniques. Lineshape analysis of 1H spectra for CP and SPINOE experiments demonstrates the difference in selectivity of methods due to longer SPINOE evolution times that lead to greater spin diffusion. The results of this work help to assess the viability of HP Xe CP as a surface analysis technique.  相似文献

In this paper, a new calculation method on the capture rate of multi-sky-screens across measurement system was researched and analyzed. The measurement principle of multi-sky-screens across measurement system was introduced, and the optical detection principle and detection sensitivity were discussed based on photometric theory. According to the relation of detection screen thickness, projectile length and photoelectric detector performance, and the gradient screen characteristic, the calculation expression of capture rate on multi-sky-screens across measurement system was induced and analyzed in detail. From the three kind states relation between projectile length and detection screen thickness, the function of capture rates was analyzed and calculated by experimentation under different detection distances and different environments. The result shows when the projectile length is more than and equal to the detection screen thickness under the same conditions, the capture rate is highest; when the projectile length is less than the detection screen thickness, the capture rate will reduce; and the gradient screen's capture rate is less than vertical screen, those experiments are consistent with the theories analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, it is shown that at a high bit rate of 80-Gb/s alternate polarization of adjacent bits in a Wavelength Division Multiplexed (WDM) transmission link improves the system performance in terms of improved Q factor and minimum bit error rate (BER). Alternate Polarization Return to Zero (al-PRZ) further suppresses the non-linear effects at higher power levels of 25 dBm per channel and also improves the transmission length to 640 km for a N × 80-Gb/s WDM system and hence results in an improvement of BER to 10−20.  相似文献

The influence of mesoporous environment on the conjugated polymers was studied by UV-Vis absorption and Photoluminescence spectroscopy. The applied polymers were three novel poly(p-phenylenevinylene) derivatives (DDMA-PPV). These polymers have dibenzothiophen-5,5-dioxide units in their backbones, but are different from each other in the length of alkoxy side-chains. The polymers were incorporated into the mesoporous channels of SBA-15 by sorption from their dilute solutions. The confined polymers exhibited different trends in the shifts of the absorption onsets and the emission peaks depending on the length of the side-chains. The polymer with shorter side-chain showed red-shifts in both the absorption and emission spectra, whereas the polymer with longer side-chain showed blue-shifts. These phenomena were caused by the combined influences from the electronic confinement and the conformation distortion. Moreover, these trends were enhanced when the polymers were loaded in amine-modified SBA-15.  相似文献

现有Turbo均衡采用迭代联合均衡译码结构,这一迭代过程在信噪比高于某一门限后才能产生正向的迭代增益,当信道码间干扰较为严重或者采用高阶调制方式时,该信噪比门限较高;同时,现有Turbo均衡的性能还受限于其交织器长度,故当码块长度较短时,其性能并不理想。针对以上问题,提出了一种基于Spinal码的联合均衡译码方法。首先,该方法采用非迭代的最大似然联合均衡译码结构,有效避免了Turbo均衡迭代结构所带来的信噪比门限高问题;其次,该方法采用信息混合能力更强的Spinal码,有助于提高码块长度受限时的误码率性能;最后,该方法利用Spinal码可以有效增加相似信息序列间汉明距离的特点,将联合均衡译码时间复杂度降低为仅随信息序列长度与信道响应长度呈线性增长,解决了本方法难以实际应用于实时水声通信的难题。在抚仙湖湖试中,同样实现速率为3.34kbps数据通信,该方法的误码率优于Turbo均衡方法两个数量级以上。时变水声信道下的仿真以及湖试结果表明,该方法在码长受限的情况下仍在复杂水声信道中表现出更好性能,其所需的最低输入信噪比显著低于现有Turbo均衡方法。   相似文献

We report the design of a new family of strict optical orthogonal codes (SOOCs) that permit the use of nonconstant code weights in optical code-division multiplexing (OCDM) systems. Because this new code can possess any number of pulses (i.e., 1s) in each codeword while still maintaining the minimum autocorrelation and cross-correlation constraints (i.e., “1”) for incoherent optical processing, its use can flexibly support multimedia applications in an OCDM system to meet varieties of transmission performance and traffic requirements which are demanded by different types of communication services. The method of designing the proposed codes is presented, and the bound on code length is also given.  相似文献
