A new semi-organic nonlinear optical bis(thiourea) zinc carbonate (BTZC) material has been synthesized. BTZC single crystals were grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation method. The grown crystals were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), powder XRD, FTIR, UV–visible, thermal, and second harmonic generation (SHG) analysis. Single crystal XRD study has been carried out to identify the lattice parameters. FTIR studies confirm the functional groups present in the grown crystal. Optical transmission studies have confirmed that the grown crystal is highly transparent. Thermo gravimetric and differential thermal analyses reveal the good thermal stability of the material. The SHG conversion efficiency of BTZC was determined using Kurtz powder technique and found 1.3 times more than that of KDP.  相似文献

Single crystals of the nonlinear material γ-glycine have been grown in the presence of lithium nitrate by slow-evaporation method. Structural characterization of the grown crystals was carried out by powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) methods and it is observed that the samples crystallize in hexagonal system with non-centrosymmetric space groups. The modes of vibrations of different molecular groups present in glycine have been identified by spectral analyses. UV–visible transmittance study was performed to analyze optical transparency of γ-glycine crystals and found that the crystal was transparent in the entire visible-NIR region. Second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency has been estimated as 62 mV and the output power by the crystal was 1.72 times that of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystal. The thermal stability and decomposition of the sample have been studied by thermal analysis and it is observed that the γ-glycine crystal have good thermal stability.  相似文献

Single crystals of pure and cerium(III)nitrate doped zinc(tris) thiourea sulphate (ZTS) were grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation method. The cell parameters of the grown crystals were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Powder X-ray diffraction patterns were recorded and indexed for the structural confirmation. The presence of functional group in the compound has been confirmed by FTIR analysis. UV–vis absorption spectrum has been recorded to determine the cut-off wavelength of the crystal. TGA/DTA studies show thermal stability of the grown crystals. SEM-EDX analysis revealed the incorporation of the impurity (Ce3+) into ZTS crystals. The microhardness study reveals that the hardness number (Hv) increases with load for all the grown crystals of this work. From the values of work hardening coefficients, it was concluded that pure and cerium nitrate doped ZTS crystals belong to the category of soft materials. The second harmonic generation of cerium(III)nitrate doped ZTS crystals was confirmed by Kurtz–Perry powder method using Nd:YAG laser.  相似文献

In the present study, an amino acid derivatives, L-alanine (LA) and Bismuth nitrate-doped L-alanine (BNLA) crystals were grown by the slow evaporation technique. The crystal structure and quality of the grown crystal were examined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) and powder XRD. The X-ray diffraction analysis of LA and BNLA crystals confirmed the orthorhombic crystal system without any internal structural grain boundaries. The optical properties of the LA and BNLA crystals have been determined using UV-Visible spectroscopy and Photoluminescence (PL). The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the crystal was measured using Kurtz powder technique. The dielectric constant measurement was performed at room temperature for different frequencies. Photoconductivity tests show that the LA and BNLA crystals have negative photoconductivity value. On testing of the retentivity or remanent magnetization, the BNLA crystal has increased values as compared to the pure LA crystals, in addition to the observation of changes in coercivity. Further, the observation of maximum intensity peak for the BNLA crystal at 346.9 nm pointed out that the crystal has blue fluorescence emission. The third-order nonlinear optical properties of the grown crystal were studied using Z-scan technique. The enhancement in nonlinear refractive index and third-order NLO susceptibility value shows that the grown BNLA crystals may be of good quality and less in defect than that of pure LA crystals.  相似文献

We successfully grow single crystals of pure and thiourea-doped glycyl-L-alanine hydrochloride (GLAH and TU-GLAH) from aqueous solutions by the slow evaporation technique. We study the effect of thiourea dopant on the crystal properties. Single-crystal X-ray techniques confirm the crystal structure and change in the lattice-parameter values for the doped crystals. We analyze the doped crystals quantitatively by energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) and confirm the presence of thiourea in the pure samples. We obtain the second-harmonic generations for the grown crystals using a Nd:YAG laser. We determine values of the work hardening coefficient from the microhardness study. We measure the values of the dielectric constant and dielectric losses in order to understand the electrical phenomena taking place in pure and TU-GLAH crystals.  相似文献

Good transparent bulk single crystals of pure l-alanine (LA) and cobalt doped LA crystals have been synthesized and successfully grown by slow-cooling method from their aqueous solutions. The concentration of metal dopants in the mother solution with 0.5 mol% for cobalt was carried out individually and crystals were obtained with well defined morphology. The as grown metal doped and pure single crystals were characterized by single crystal XRD studies which confirm that the incorporation of metallic dopants has not changed the basic structure of the parent crystal. The absorption of these crystals was analyzed and the result confirms that they possess low absorption in the range 230–1100 nm. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was carried out to investigate the molecular vibrations of these crystals and to confirm the incorporation of the dopants. The thermal properties have been studied by TGA/DTA curves. The EDAX measurement and surface morphology were studied for pure and metal doped LA crystals. The second harmonic generation (SHG) signals were observed using Nd: YAG laser with fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm in pure and metal doped crystals. The laser damage threshold was measured for pure and metal doped LA crystals and also tested by using a Q-switched Nd: YAG laser showed enhanced LDT value for metal (Co2+) doped LA crystal compared to pure LA crystal due to the metallic substitutions thus proving their useful candidature for nonlinear optical applications.  相似文献

Pure (undoped) and RbCl-doped LAHC single crystals were grown successfully by the solution method with the slow evaporation technique at room temperature. The grown crystals were colourless and transparent. The solubility of the grown samples were found out at various temperatures. The lattice parameters of the grown crystals were determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction technique and the diffracting planes were indentified by recording the powder X-ray diffraction pattern. UV-visible transmittance studies were carried out for the grown samples. Chemical analysis and atomic absorption studies indicate the presence of rubidium in the doped LAHC crystals. Nonlinear optical studies reveal that the SHG efficiency increases when the LAHC crystal is doped with rubidium chloride (RbCl). From microhardness studies, it is observed that the RbCl-doped LAHC crystal is harder than the pure sample. It is observed that the dielectric properties of the LAHC crystal are altered when it is doped with rubidium chloride.  相似文献

Low solubility potassium pentaborate tetrahydrate (KB5), ammonium pentaborate tetrahydrate (AB5) and mixed (KAB5) single crystals have been grown by the Sankaranarayanan-Ramasamy (SR) method. The crystal structures and space groups have been confirmed by powder XRD analysis. The direction of the grown crystal was confirmed by the back reflection X-ray Laue pattern. The crystalline perfection (CP) of the crystals have been evaluated using HRXRD studies. The transmittance spectra of the grown crystals were recorded by UV–Vis-NIR transmission studies showing that all the crystals have 90% transmittance in the entire visible region and found that the crystals' cut off wavelengths were below 200 nm. The optical studies such as refractive index (RI) and birefringence interferometry (BI) were reported. The RI for five different wavelengths of KB5, AB5 and KAB5 crystals were analyzed using the prism coupling method (PCM). Electromechanical behavior of the grown crystals was observed using piezoelectric coefficient (d33) measurement. Vickers Microhardness (VMH) measurement carried out at 30 °C shows increased hardness as the load increases.  相似文献

Allylthiourea cadmium bromide (ATCB) is a promising organometallic second order nonlinear optical material. ATCB was synthesized in Millipore water and single crystals of ATCB were grown by isothermal solvent evaporation as well as by conventional temperature lowering methods. Crystal structure of the as grown ATCB was analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction and also by powder X-ray diffraction pattern. Structural perfection of the as grown single crystal was studied through multicrystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The nature of co-ordination and the functional groups present were investigated by the Fourier transform infrared spectrum. The melting point of the crystal was studied through differential scanning calorimetric analysis. The optical absorption spectrum of the as grown crystal exhibits the lower cut-off (295 nm) with the wide transparent UV–VIS–NIR wave band. The SHG property was identified by Kurt’z powder technique. The linear refractive index of the as grown crystal was measured for different laser wavelengths. The reverse indentation size effect for the as grown crystal was confirmed from the mechanical studies. Phosphate doped bis-urea oxalic acid (PBUO) crystals were grown using the aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique. Single crystal XRD study indicates that the sample crystallizes in monoclinic structure. The mechanical parameters like hardness, yield strength and stiffness constant of the crystal were determined by using the Vickers hardness tester. UV-visible spectral studies were done to determine the various linear optical parameters. Second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency was measured for the grown crystal of PBUO to understand the nonlinear optical activity. TG/DTA analysis shows that the PBUO crystal is thermally stable upto 170 °C. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) was carried out by recording the EDAX spectrum of the grown crystal to identify elements in the sample. The grown PBUO crystals were also characterized by FTIR, SEM, PL, LDT and impedance studies.  相似文献
