A series of 2,3-dihydrobenzo[b]selenophene-5-ol antioxidants was prepared by subjecting suitably substituted allyl 4-methoxyphenyl selenides to microwave-induced seleno-Claisen rearrangement/intramolecular Markovnikov hydroselenation followed by boron tribromide-induced O-demethylation. The novel antioxidants were assayed for their capacity to inhibit azo-initiated peroxidation of linoleic acid in a water/chlorobenzene two-phase system containing N-acetylcysteine as a thiol reducing agent in the aqueous phase. Antioxidant efficiency as determined by the inhibited rate of peroxidation, Rinh, increased with increasing methyl substitution (Rinh=46-26 microM/h), but none of the compounds could match alpha-tocopherol (Rinh=22 microM/h). Regenerability as determined by the inhibition time, Tinh, in the presence of the thiol regenerating agent decreased with increasing methyl substitution. Thus, under conditions where the unsubstituted compound 5a inhibited peroxidation for more than 320 min, alpha-tocopherol worked for 90 min and the trimethylated antioxidant 5g for 60 min only. Sampling of the aqueous phase at intervals during peroxidation using antioxidant 5a showed that N-acetylcysteine was continuously oxidized with time to the corresponding disulfide. In the absence of the regenerating agent, compounds 5 inhibited peroxidation for 50-60 min only. A (RO)B3LYP/LANL2DZdp//B3LYP/LANL2DZ model was used for the calculation of homolytic O-H bond dissociation enthalpies (BDE) and adiabatic ionization potentials (IP) of phenolic antioxidants 5. Both BDE (80.6-76.3 kcal/mol) and IP (163.2-156.0 kcal/mol) decrease with increasing methyl substitution. The phenoxyl radical corresponding to phenol 5g gave an intense ESR signal centered at g=2.0099. The H-O bond dissociation enthalpy of the phenol was determined by a radical equilibration method using BHA as an equilibration partner. The observed BDE (77.6+/-0.5 kcal/mol) is in reasonable agreement with calculations (76.3 kcal/mol). As judged by calculated log P values, the lipophilicity of compounds 5 increased slightly when methyl groups were introduced into the phenolic moiety (2.9>C log P<4.2). The capacity of compounds 5a (kinh=3.8x10(5) M-1 s-1) and 5g (kinh=1.5x10(6) M-1 s-1) to inhibit azo-initiated autoxidation of styrene in the homogeneous phase (chlorobenzene) was also studied. More efficient regeneration at the lipid-aqueous interphase is the most likely explanation why the intrinsically poorest antioxidant 5a can outperform its analogues as well as alpha-TOC in the two-phase system. Possible mechanisms of regeneration are discussed and evaluated.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) on B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level was employed to investigate the substituent effects on O--H bond dissociation enthalpies (BDEs) and ionization potentials (IPs) of catechols. It was revealed that the ortho hydroxyl of catechol was effective for the reduction of the O--H BDE; however, the group had little influence on the IP. The para substituent effects upon O--H BDEs and IPs for catechols were roughly the same as those for monophenols, and this gave the catechol moiety more potential than monophenol to be used as a lead compound in rational design of phenolic antioxidants. In addition, the 1,4-pyrone effects on O--H BDEs of catecholic rings A or B of flavonoids were also investigated. Although 1,4-pyrone extended the conjugation system of flavonoids, it was not beneficial to reduce the O--H BDE as a result of its electron-withdrawing property. Thus, 1,4-pyrone was unlikely to be favorable to enhance the H-abstraction activity of flavonoids.  相似文献

The optimized molecular geometry, vibrational frequencies, and gauge including atomic orbital (GIAO) (1)H and (13)C NMR shift values of 5-(4-bromophenylamino)-2-methylsulfanylmethyl-2H-1,2,3-triazol-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester have been calculated by using Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional method (DFT/B3LYP) with 6-31G(d), 6-31G(d,p) and LANL2DZ basis sets. The optimized molecular geometric parameters were presented and compared with the data obtained from X-ray diffraction. In order to fit the calculated harmonic wavenumbers to the experimentally observed ones, scaled quantum mechanics force field (SQM FF) methodology was proceeded. Correlation factors between the experimental and calculated (1)H chemical shift values of the title compound in vacuum and in CHCl(3) solution by using the conductor-like screening continuum solvation model (COSMO) were reported. The calculated results showed that the optimized geometry well reproduces the crystal structure. The theoretical vibrational frequencies and chemical shifts are in very good agreement with the experimental data. In solvent media the energetic behavior of the title compound was also examined by using the B3LYP method with the 6-31G(d) basis set, applying the COSMO model. The obtained results indicated that the total energy of the title compound decreases with increasing polarity of the solvent. Furthermore, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), natural bond orbital (NBO) and frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) of the title compound were performed by the B3LYP/LANL2DZ method, and also thermodynamic parameters for the title compound were calculated at all the HF and B3LYP levels.  相似文献

New experimental results on the determination of the bond dissociation enthalpy (BDE) value of 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol, a model compound for flavonoid antioxidants, by the EPR radical equilibration technique are reported. By measurement of the equilibrium constant for the reaction between 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol and the 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenoxyl radical, in UV irradiated isooctane solutions at different temperatures, it has been shown that the thermodynamic parameters for this reaction are DeltaH degrees = -2.8+/-0.1 kcal mol(-1) and DeltaS degrees = +1.3+/-0.2 cal mol(-1) K(-1). This demonstrates that the entropic variations in the hydrogen exchange reaction between phenols and the corresponding phenoxyl radicals are also negligible when one of the reacting species is a polyphenol and that the EPR radical equilibration technique also allows the determination of the Obond;H BDEs in intramolecularly hydrogen-bonded polyphenols. The BDE of 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol (78.2 kcal mol(-1)) was determined to be identical to that of alpha-tocopherol. Through use of the group additivity rule, this piece of data was also used to calculate the strength of the intramolecular hydrogen bond between the hydroxyl proton and the oxygen radical centre in the corresponding semiquinone radical (5.6 kcal mol(-1)), which is responsible both for the excellent antioxidant properties of catechols and for the BDE of catechol (81.8 kcal mol(-1)). These values are in poor agreement with those predicted by DFT calculations reported in the literature (9.5 kcal mol(-1) and 77.6 kcal mol(-1), respectively). Extensive theoretical calculations indicate that the BDE of catechol is reproduced well (81.6 kcal mol(-1)) by use of diffuse functions on oxygen and the CCSD method.  相似文献

Density function theory (DFT) has been employed to study the geometric and electronic structures of a series of spiro nitramines at the B3LYP/6-31G level. The calculated results agree reasonably with available experimental data. Thermodynamic properties derived from the infrared spectra on the basis of statistical thermodynamic principles are linearly correlated with the number of nitramine groups as well as the temperature. Detonation performances were evaluated by the Kamlet-Jacobs equations based on the calculated densities and heats of formation. It is found that some compounds with the predicted densities of ca. 1.9 g/cm3, detonation velocities over 9 km/s, and detonation pressures of about 39 GPa (some even over 40 GPa) may be novel potential candidates of high energy density materials (HEDMs). Thermal stability and the pyrolysis mechanism of the title compounds were investigated by calculating the bond dissociation energies (BDE) at the B3LYP/6-31G level and the activation energies (E(a)) with the selected PM3 semiempirical molecular orbital (MO) based on the unrestricted Hartree-Fock model. The relationships between BDE, E(a), and the electronic structures of the spiro nitramines were discussed in detail. Thermal stabilities and decomposition mechanisms of the title compounds derived from the B3LYP/6-31G BDE and the UHF-PM3 E(a) are basically consistent. Considering the thermal stability, TNSHe (tetranitrotetraazaspirohexane), TNSH (tetranitrotetraazaspiroheptane), and TNSO (tetranitrotetraazaspirooctane) are recommended as the preferred candidates of HEDMs. These results may provide basic information for the molecular design of HEDMs.  相似文献

The S-H bond dissociation enthalpies [BDE(S-H)] of a set of 5-X- and 6-X-3-pyridinethiols (X = F, Cl, CH3, OCH3, NH2, N(CH3)2, CF3, CN, and NO2) have been computed using the density functional theory based (RO)B3LYP procedure with 6-311++G(2df,2p) basis set. The effects of substituents on the BDE(S-H), proton affinity of the pyridinethiol anion [PA(S-)] and ionization energy (IE) are analyzed and their correlations with Hammett's substituent constants are examined. Subsequently, a series of 6-substituted 3-pyridinethiols have been explored to find out their antioxidant potentials. Finally, a number of 3-pyridinethiol based compounds are theoretically proposed as novel antioxidants.  相似文献

The effect of water on the O-H bond dissociation enthalpy (BDE) of para-substituted phenols has been investigated by means of DFT calculations. It is shown that the experimental BDE values are fairly well-reproduced by simple B3LYP/6-31G* calculations carried out on the phenol/phenoxyl-water complexes taking into account only hydrogen-bonding (HB) interactions of water molecules with molecular sites (HB model). On the contrary, the BDE values computed with the polarizable continuum model (PCM/B3LYP/6-31G*)8 are overestimated by about 3-4 kcal/mol. Discrepancy between theory and experiment increases using the PCM method in addition to the HB model. Calculations show that, in general, the HB interaction with water molecules decreases the BDE of phenols bearing electron-releasing groups while increasing the BDE of phenols bearing electron-withdrawing substituents. This opposite effect is explained by considering the resonance structures with charge separation both in phenols and in phenoxyl radicals. With electron donors, the phenoxyl radical is preferentially stabilized by the HB acceptor interaction with two water molecules, while with electron acceptors the phenol is preferentially stabilized by the HB donor interaction with one water molecule.  相似文献

The molecular structure, vibrational spectrum, standard thermodynamic functions, and enthalpy of formation of free base phthalocyanine (Pc) have been studied using the density functional theory B3LYP procedure, as well as the ab initio Hartree–Fock method. Various basis sets 3‐21G, 6‐31G*, and LANL2DZ have been employed. The results obtained at various levels are discussed and compared with each other and with the available experimental data. It is shown that calculations performed at the Hartree–Fock level cannot produce a reliable geometry and related properties such as the dipole moment of Pc and similar porphyrin‐based systems. Electron correlation must be included in the calculations. The basis set has comparatively less effect on the calculated results. The results derived at the B3LYP level using the smaller 3‐21G and LANL2DZ basis sets are very close to those produced using the medium 6‐31G* basis set. The geometry of Pc obtained at the B3LYP level has D2h symmetry and the diameter of the central macrocycle is about 4 Å. The enthalpy of formation of Pc in the gas phase has been predicted to be 1518.50 kJ/mol at the B3LYP/6‐311G(2d,2p)//B3LYP/6‐31G* level via an isodesmic reaction. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The homolytic C-H bond dissociation enthalpies (BDEs) of toluene and its para- and meta-substituted derivatives have been estimated by using the (RO)B3LYP/6-311++G(2df,2p)//(U)B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) procedure. The performance of two other hybrid functionals of DFT, namely, B3PWP91 and O3LYP, has also been evaluated using the same basis sets and molecules. Our computed results are compared with the available experimental values and are found to be in good agreement. The (RO)B3LYP and (RO)O3LYP procedures are found to produce reliable BDEs for the C-H bonds in toluene and the C-X (X = F, Cl) bond in alpha-substituted toluene (C6H5-CH2X) and their substituted derivatives. The substituent effect on the BDE values has been analyzed in terms of the ground-state effect and the radical effect. The effect of polarization of the C-H bond on the substituent effect is also analyzed. The BDE(C-H) and BDE(C-X) values for alpha-substituted (X = F and Cl) toluenes with a set of para substituents are presented for the first time.  相似文献

The accurate estimation of S-O bond dissociation enthalpies (BDE) of sulfoxides by computational chemistry methods has been a significant challenge. One of the primary causes for this challenge is the well-established requirement of including high-exponent d functions in the sulfur basis set for accurate energies. Unfortunately, even when high-exponent d functions were included in Pople-style basis sets, the relative strength of experimentally determined S-O BDE was incorrectly predicted. The aug-cc-pV(n+d)Z basis sets developed by Dunning include an additional high-exponent d function on sulfur. Thus, it was expected that the aug-cc-pV(n+d)Z basis sets would improve the prediction of sulfoxide S-O BDE. This study presents the S-O BDE predicted by B3LYP, CCSD, CCSD(T), M05-2X, M06-2X, and MP2 combined with aug-cc-pV(n+d)Z, aug-cc-pVnZ, and Pople-style basis sets. The accuracy of these predictions was determined by comparing the computationally predicted values to the experimentally determined S-O BDE. Values within experimental error were obtained for dialkyl sulfoxides when the S-O BDEs were estimated using an isodesmic oxygen transfer reaction at the M06-2X/aug-cc-pV(T+d)Z level of theory. However, the S-O BDE of divinyl sulfoxide was overestimated by this method.  相似文献

The structure optimizations of 2-formylpyridine (H2FoPyS), 3-formylpyridine (H3FoPyS), and 4-formylpyridine (H4FoPyS) semicarbazone complexes with Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) were carried out using DFT calculations at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ level of theory. The B3LYP/LANL2DZ-optimized geometry parameters for the H2FoPyS and H3FoPyS complexes show good agreement with their corresponding X-ray crystallographic data. Due to the X-ray crystallographic structures of the [Zn(H3FoPyS)2]2+ complex and the H4FoPyS complexes with Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) and have not yet been observed, their B3LYP/LANL2DZ-optimized structures are therefore theoretically proposed. The reaction energies and thermodynamic properties of complexation for these complexes computed at the same level of theory are reported.  相似文献

Quantum mechanical calculations at B3LYP/6-31G** level of theory were employed to obtain energy (E), ionization potential (IP), bond dissociation enthalpy (O-H BDE) and stabilization energies (DE(iso)) in order to infer the scavenging activity of dihydrochalcones (DHC) and structurally related compounds. Spin density calculations were also performed for the proposed antioxidant activity mechanism of 2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone (2,4,6-THA). The unpaired electron formed by the hydrogen abstraction from the phenolic hydroxyl group of 2,4,6-THA is localized on the phenolic oxygen at 2, 6, and 4 positions, the C? and C? carbon atoms at ortho positions, and the C? carbon atom at para position. The lowest phenolic oxygen contribution corresponded to the highest scavenging activity value. It was found that antioxidant activity depends on the presence of a hydroxyl at the C2 and C4 positions and that there is a correlation between IP and O-H BDE and peroxynitrite scavenging activity and lipid peroxidation. These results identified the pharmacophore group for DHC.  相似文献

Controversy remains regarding the suitable density functionals for the calculation of vitamin B(12) systems that contain cobalt. To identify the optimum functionals, geometry optimization calculations were performed on a full-size model of methylcobalamin (MeCbl) using the B3LYP, B3LYP-D, BP86, and BP86-D methods in conjunction with the 6-31G* basis set. Single-point energy evaluations were also performed with the 6-311+G(2d,p) basis set. Consistent with previous studies, the BP86-optimized geometry showed fairly good agreement with the experimental geometry. Various factors that may influence the homolytic bond dissociation energy (BDE) of the Co-C bond of MeCbl were systematically evaluated with these methods. Our analysis demonstrated that dispersion was the largest correction term that influenced the magnitude of BDE. Previous studies have shown that B3LYP significantly underestimates BDE, whereas BP86 gives BDE values that are fairly close to the experimental values (36-37 kcal/mol). The same trend in the relative magnitudes of the BDEs was observed in the present calculations. However, BP86 underestimated the BDE for a full model of MeCbl. When the amount of Hartree-Fock exchange in the B3LYP functional was reduced to 15% and the dispersion correction was made (i.e., B3LYP*-D), the calculated BDE was in good accord with experimental values. B3P86-D also performed well. A detailed analysis was undertaken to determine which atoms in cobalamin have large dispersion interactions with a methyl fragment of MeCbl.  相似文献

1 INTRODUCTION Recently, the chemistry of lead is of interest in relation to its toxicity and effects on intelligence in human populations[1~3]. The design of drugs to coun- teract the effects of lead poisoning requires estab- lishing the preferred ligands of Pb(II) and their ste- reochemistry. Consequently, synthesis of chelated- form antidotes for lead(II) ion toxicosis has attracted more and more attention, and numerous reports con- cerning experimental coordination chemistry of lead(…  相似文献

The Schiff base compound, 4‐[(2‐hydroxy‐3‐methylbenzylidene)amino]‐1,5‐dimethyl‐2‐phenyl‐1,2‐dihydro‐3H‐pyrazol‐3‐one, has been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV–vis, and X‐ray single‐crystal determination. Molecular geometry from X‐ray experiment of the title compound in the ground state have been compared using the density functional method (B3LYP) with 6‐31G(d,p) basis set. Calculated results show that density functional theory (DFT) can well reproduce the structure of the title compound. The energetic behavior of the title compound in solvent media has been examined using B3LYP method with the 6‐31G(d,p) basis set by applying the Onsager and the polarizable continuum model (PCM). The results obtained with these methods reveal that the PCM method provided more stable structure than Onsager's method. By using TD‐DFT method, electronic absorption spectra of the title compound have been predicted and a good agreement with the TD‐DFT method and the experimental one is determined. The predicted nonlinear optical properties of the title compound are much greater than ones of urea. In addition, DFT calculations of the title compound, molecular electrostatic potential and NBO analysis were performed at B3LYP/6‐31G(d,p) level of theory. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A review of the vibrational assignments for 2-iodopyridine has been proposed based on the FT-Raman (3500-50cm(-1)) and IR (4000-400cm(-1)) spectral measurements. Equilibrium geometries and vibrational frequencies have been computed from a variety of electronic structure methods: the ab initio (RHF), six DFT (BLYP, BP86, B3LYP, B3P86, B3PW91 and SVWN) and MP2 methods using 3-21G*, LANL2DZ and DGDZVP basis sets. A normal coordinate analysis has been carried out: the normal modes and their couplings are characterized in terms of potential energy distributions (PEDs). The comparison of assignments for pyridine and halopyridines shows that several of the normal modes arise from coupled vibrations in 2-iodopyridine. The BP86 and B3LYP methods with LANL2DZ basis set have performed reasonably well in reproducing the observed spectra, demonstrating that the LANL2DZ basis set (with effective core potential representations of electrons near the nuclei for post-third row atoms) is suitable for 2-iodopyridine.  相似文献

Benzocyclobutadienyl diazirine (2) was synthesized and reacted with hydroxide ion in a Fourier transform mass spectrometer to afford the conjugate base of benzocyclobutadiene (1a). Authentication of the ion structure was carried out by a derivatization experiment (i.e., la was converted to benzocyclobutenone enolate, which has previously been studied), and its reactivity was explored. Thermochemical data for benzocyclobutadiene (1) were obtained (deltaH(o)acid (1) = 386 +/- 3 kcal mol(-1), EA(1r) = 1.8 +/- 0.1 eV, and C-H BDE (1) = 114 +/- 4 kcal mol(-1)), compared to MP2 and B3LYP calculations, and contrasted to a series of model compounds. Cyclobutadienyl radical appears to be quite different from benzocyclobutadienyl radical (1r) and worth further exploration.  相似文献

The geometries, energies, and electronic properties of a series of phosphorescent Pt(II) complexes including FPt, CFPt, COFPt, and NFPt have been characterized within density functional theory DFT calculations which can reproduce and rationalize experimental results. The properties of excited‐states of the Pt(II) complexes were characterized by configuration interaction with singles (CIS) method. The ground‐ and excited‐state geometries were optimized at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ and CIS/LANL2DZ levels, respectively. In addition, we also have performed a triplet UB3LYP optimization for complex FPt and compared it with CIS method in the emission properties. The datum (562.52 nm) of emission wavelength for complex FPt, which were computed based on the triplet UB3LYP optimization excited‐state geometry, is not agreement with the experiment value (500 nm). The absorption and phosphorescence wavelengths were computed based on the optimized ground‐ and excited‐state geometries, respectively, by the time‐dependent density functional theory (TD‐DFT) methods. The results revealed that the nature of the substituent at the phenylpyridine ligand can influence the distributions of HOMO and LUMO and their energies. Moreover, the auxiliary ligand pyridyltetrazole can make the molecular structure present a solid geometry. In addition, the charge transport quality has been estimated approximately by the predicted reorganization energy (λ). Our result also indicates that the substitute groups and different auxiliary ligand not only change the nature of transition but also affect the rate and balance of charge transfer. By summarizing the results, we can conclude that the NFPt is good OLED materials with a solid geometry and a balanced charge transfer rate. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 3-(1H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol-1-yl)-1-(4-ethylphenyl)-1-oxopropan-2-yl-4-ethyl-benzoate (BEOE) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV–vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Its crystal structure has also been determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. For the title compound, density functional theory (DFT) calculations of the structure and vibrational frequencies have been performed at B3LYP/6-31G* level of theory. Based on the vibration analysis, thermodynamic properties of the title compound have been calculated. The correlative equations between the thermodynamic properties and temperatures have also been listed. By using TD-DFT method, electron spectra of the title compound have been predicted, which suggests the B3LYP/6-31G* method can approximately simulate the electron spectra for the system presented here.  相似文献
