In this paper the procedure of large-scale averaging of the magnetic-field diffusion equation with the α-term curlα(r,t)B(r,t) is used to show that a nonuniform distribution of the turbulent helicity fluctuations (more precisely, the fluctuations of the coefficient α) with a zero average value gives rise to large-scale amplification of the initial magnetic field. A detailed study is carried out of the dependence of the resulting large-scale α effect on the characteristics of the correlator 〈〈α(r, t)α(r″,t″)〉〉 in a rotating medium with a nonuniform distribution of the angular velocity ω=ω(ρ,z) (ρ is the distance for the rotation axis z). We present a critical assessment of the diffusing wave spectroscopy (DWS) technique for obtaining the characteristic lengths and for measuring the loss and storage moduli of a reasonable well-known wormlike micelle (WM) system. For this purpose, we tracked the Brownian motion of particles using DWS embedded in a Maxwellian fluid constituted by a wormlike micellar solution made of cetyltrimethylam-monium bromide (CTAB), sodium salicylate (NaSal), and water. We found that the motion of particles was governed by the viscosity of the solvent at short times and by the stress relaxation mechanisms of the giant micelles at longer times. From the time evolution of the mean square displacement of particles, we could obtain for the WM solution the cage size where each particle is harmonically bound at short times, the long-time diffusion coefficient, and experimental values for the exponent that accounts for the broad spectrum of relaxation times at the plateau onset time found in the 〈Δr 2(t)〉 vs. time curves. In addition, from the 〈Δr 2(t) vs. time curves, we obtained G′(ω) and G″(ω) for the WM solutions. All the DWS microreological information allowed us to estimate the characteristic lengths of the WM network. We compare our DWS microrheological results and characteristic lengths with those obtained with mechanical rheometers at different NaSal/CTAB concentration ratios and temperatures.  相似文献

Using the appropriate harmonic oscillator states and reasonable approximations, we construct coherent wavepackets corresponding to the solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation for the attractive potentialV(r)=−k/r, k>0, in two and three space dimensions. We deduce the corresponding classical limit in two dimension by requiring that the expectation value 〈r〉 of the radial variable is large. In the case of three dimensions, besides the condition of large 〈r〉, we make the uncertainty Δr=[〈r 2〉 − 〈r2]1/2 a minimum with respect to certain parameter of the wavepacket. We then investigate the trajectory traversed by the wavepacket in the classical limit. We find that the classical limit of this relativistic quantal problem gives, in the leading order, the same expression for the rate of motion of the perihelion as that given by the solution of the corresponding special relativistic classical dynamical problem. We also briefly discuss some of the subtle aspects of the classical limit of the relativistic quantal system, in general.  相似文献

The wave mechanics of two impenetrable hard core particles in a 1-D box is analyzed. Each particle in the box behaves like an independent entity represented by a macro-orbital (a kind of pair waveform). While the expectation value of their interaction, 〈 V HC (x) 〉, vanishes for every state of two particles, the expectation value of their relative separation, 〈 x 〉, satisfies 〈 x 〉≥λ/2 (or q ≥ π/d, with 2d=L being the size of the box). The particles in their ground state define a close-packed arrangement of their wave packets (with 〈 x 〉= λ/2, phase position separation Δϕ = 2π and momentum |q o| = π/d) and experience a mutual repulsive force (zero point repulsion) f o =h 2/2md 3 which also tries to expand the box. While the relative dynamics of two particles in their excited states represents usual collisional motion, the same in their ground state becomes collisionless. These results have great significance in determining a correct microscopic understanding of widely different many-body systems.  相似文献

Distributions of the conductance G of a long quantum wire with the fractal distribution of barriers have been obtained in the successive incoherent tunneling regime. The asymptotic behavior (in the limit L → ∞) of moments 〈G k (L)〉, average power of the shot noise 〈S(L)〉, and Fano factor agree with the results of the work [C. W. J. Beenakker et al., Phys. Rev. B 79, 024204 (2009)], and the distributions themselves describe well the Monte Carlo simulation results. The equation that has been obtained for the distributions of the resistance and conductance agrees with the recent fractional differential generalization of the Dorokhov-Mello-Pereyra-Kumar equation for the quasi-one-dimensional multichannel disordered semiconductors with a self-similar distribution of scatterers.  相似文献

We find the dependence of the ensemble-averaged resistance, 〈ρ L〉, of a one-dimensional chain consisting of periodically spaced random delta-function potentials of the chain length L, the incident-electron energy, and the chain disorder parameter w. We show that generally the 〈ρ L〉 vs L dependence can be written as a sum of three exponential functions, two of which tend to zero as L℩∞. Hence the asymptotic expression for 〈ρ L〉 is always an exponential function of L. Such an expression for 〈ρ L〉 means that the electronic states are indeed localized and makes it possible (which is important) to find the dependence of the localization radius on the incident-electron energy and the force with which an electron interacts with the sites of the chain. Using the general formulation for obtaining chemical potentialμ of an ideal Fermi gas of particles at temperature T, with particle rest mass m0 and average density 〈N〉/V, the dependence of the mean square number fluctuation 〈ΔN 2〉/V on the particle mass m0 has been calculated explicitly. The numerical calculations are exact in all cases whether rest mass energym 0c2 is very large (non-relativistic case), very small (ultra-relativistic case) or of the same order as the thermal energy kBT. Application of our results to the detection of the universal very low energy cosmic neutrino background (CNB), from any of the three species of neutrinos, shows that it is possible to estimate the neutrino mass of these species if from approximate experimental measurements of their momentum distribution one can extract, someday, not only the density 〈N v〉/V but also the mean square fluctuation 〈Δ v 2 〉/V. If at the present epoch, the universe is expanding much faster than thermalization rate for CNB, it is shown that our analysis leads to a scaled neutrino massm v instead of the actual massm 0v .  相似文献

The time evolution of a random surfacez=h(r, t) (r=x, y) formed by a deposition process of the Edwards-Wilkinson type is discussed. The discussion is based on the author’s former derivation of the autocorrelation functionA h(|r − r′|,t, t′)=〈h(r,t)h(r′,t′)〉 of the height functionh(r,t) under the assumption of a stochastic initial condition [V. Bezák: Acta Physica Univ. Comenianae39 (1998) 135]. Under the assumption of a steady (non-zero) deposition rate, the varianceσ h 2 (t)=〈[h(r,t)]2〉 increases logarithmically in time whilst the correlation lengthl h(t) of the height functionh(r,t) increases as ∼t 1/2. Therefore, the ratioσ h(t)/l h (t) tends to zero and the surfacez=h(r,t) does always tend towards a smoothened appearance. The mean area of a two-dimensional Gaussian ring of N monomers is known to diverge when the ring is subject to a critical pressure differential, p cN -1. In a recent publication (Eur. Phys. J. E 19, 461 (2006)) we have shown that for an inextensible freely jointed ring this divergence turns into a second-order transition from a crumpled state, where the mean area scales as 〈A〉 ∼ N, to a smooth state with 〈A〉 ∼ N 2. In the current work we extend these two models to the case where the swelling of the ring is caused by trapped ideal-gas particles. The Gaussian model is solved exactly, and the freely jointed one is treated using a Flory argument, mean-field theory, and Monte Carlo simulations. For a fixed number Q of trapped particles the criticality disappears in both models through an unusual mechanism, arising from the absence of an area constraint. In the Gaussian case the ring swells to such a mean area, 〈A〉 ∼ NQ, that the pressure exerted by the particles is at p c for any Q. In the freely jointed model the mean area is such that the particle pressure is always higher than p c, and 〈A〉 consequently follows a single scaling law, 〈A〉 ∼ N 2 f (Q/N), for any Q. By contrast, when the particles are in contact with a reservoir of fixed chemical potential, the criticality is retained. Thus, the two ensembles are manifestly inequivalent in these systems. We consider the states with extremum products and sums of the uncertainties in non-commuting observables. These are illustrated by two specific examples of harmonic oscillator and the angular momentum states. It shows that the coherent states of the harmonic oscillator are characterized by the minimum uncertainty sum 〈(Δq)2〉 + 〈(Δp)2〉. The extremum values of the sums and products of the uncertainties of the components of the angular momentum are also obtained.  相似文献

The temperature scaling of the ferroelectric hysteresis was investigated in hard lead zirconate titanate (PZT) bulk ceramic. The power-law temperature scaling relations were obtained for hystersis area 〈A〉, remnant polarization Pr, and coercivity EC in the forms of 〈A〉∝T-0.9650, Pr∝T-0.0261, and EC∝T-0.8823, respectively, which are mostly comparable to those of its soft counterpart. The observation that Pr decayed more slowly with temperature than in soft PZT was attributed to the presence of the complex defects in hard PZT. In this paper, a single crystal of 0.96Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-0.04BaTiO3 with dimensions of Φ 30×10 mm was grown by the top-seeded-solution growth method. X-ray powder diffraction results show that the as-grown crystal possesses the rhombohedral perovskite-type structure. The dielectric, piezoelectric and electrical conductivity properties were systematically investigated with 〈001〉, 〈110〉 and 〈111〉 oriented crystal samples. The room-temperature dielectric constants for the 〈001〉, 〈110〉 and 〈111〉 oriented crystal samples are found to be 650, 740 and 400 at 1 kHz. The (T m, ε m) values of the dielectric temperature spectra are almost independent of the crystal orientations; they are (306°C, 3718), (305°C, 3613) and (307°C, 3600) at 1 kHz for the 〈001〉, 〈110〉 and 〈111〉 oriented crystal. The optimum poling conditions were obtained by investigating the piezoelectric constants d 33 as a function of poling temperature and poling electric field. For the 〈001〉 and 〈110〉 crystal samples, the maximum d 33 values of 146 and 117 pC/N are obtained when a poling electric field of 3.5 kV/mm and a poling temperature of 80°C were applied during the poling process. The as-grown 0.96Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-0.04BaTiO3 crystal possesses a relatively large dc electrical conductivity, especially at higher temperature, having a value of 1.98×10−11 Ω−1⋅m−1 and 3.95×10−9 Ω−1⋅m−1 at 25°C and 150°C for the 〈001〉 oriented crystal sample.  相似文献

The depolarisation ratio for the Raman-active phenyl stretching mode has been measured over the whole of the mesophase range, and the orientational order parameters deduced, in the uniaxial nematic liquid crystal octylcyanobiphenyl (8CB). Linearly polarised light was incident normally on a homogeneously aligned sample and a χ2 minimisation routine performed on the 360° depolarisation ratio profile. The order parameters 〈P 200〉 and 〈P 400〉 , together with the differential polarisability ratio, r , are used as fitting parameters and measured as a function of temperature. Interestingly, we show that the value for r , conventionally measured in the isotropic phase and assumed to remain constant, has a clear temperature dependence, ranging from -0.032±0.008 in the isotropic phase through to -0.245±0.015 at the nematic-to-smectic A phase transition. The measured order parameters 〈P 200〉 and 〈P 400〉 varied from 0.35- 0.55±0.02 and 0.180- 0.245±0.02 , respectively, across the 8 ° C wide nematic phase range. The values of both 〈P 200〉 and 〈P 400〉 are in excellent agreement with theory, but it is noteworthy that 〈P 400〉 shows a much better quantitative match than has been reported in previous work. Crucially the temperature dependence of r is shown to be a contributing factor in the low 〈P 400〉 values that have been conventionally reported from Raman scattering measurements. The potential for fitting the entire angular depolarisation ratio distribution in liquid crystalline systems that are described by more order parameters, specifically biaxial materials, is discussed.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the order parameter (〈M 2〉, the mean-square spin excess per spin) for a system with a finite number of spins of the 1D Ising model was investigated. It was shown that there is a nonzero temperature T s below which 〈M 2〉 rapidly tends to unity. The analogy between the 1D ensemble of a finite number of spins and a system of superparamagnetic particles is discussed.  相似文献

The statistics of energy levels for a disordered conductor are considered in the critical energy window near the mobility edge. It is shown that, if the critical wave functions are multifractal, the one-dimensional gas of levels on the energy axis is compressible, in the sense that the variance of the level number in an interval is 〈 (δN)2〉∼χ〈N〉 for 〈N〉≫1. A model pseudopotential depending on an effective core radius but otherwise parameter free is used to study the interatomic interactions, phonon dispersion curves (inq and r-space analysis), phonon density of states, mode Grüneisen parameters, dynamical elastic constants (C 11,C 12 andC 44), bulk modulus (B), shear modulus (C′), deviation from Cauchy relation (C 12C 44), Poisson’s ratio (σ), Young’s modulus (Y), behavior of phonon frequencies in the elastic limit independent of the direction (Y 1), limiting value in the [110] direction (Y 2), degree of elastic anisotropy (A), maximum frequencyω max, mean frequency 〈ω〉, 〈ω 21/2=(〈ω〉/〈ω −1〉)1/2, fundamental frequency 〈ω 2〉, and propagation velocities of the elastic constants in Cu, Ag, Au, Ni, Pd, and Pt. The contribution of s-like electrons is calculated in the second-order perturbation theory for the model potential while that of d-like electrons is taken into account by introducing repulsive short-range Born-Mayer like term. Very recently proposed screening function due to Sarkar et al. has been used to obtain the screened form factor. The theoretical results are compared with experimental findings wherever possible. A good agreement between theoretical investigations and experimental findings has proved the ability of our model potential for predicting a large number of physical properties of transition metals.  相似文献

The effect of doping CdIn2S4 single crystals by copper (3 mol %) on their X-ray dosimetric characteristics is investigated. It is found that the characteristic X-ray conductivity of CdIn2S4〈Cu〉 single crystals increases 3–16 times compared with undoped CdIn2S4 at effective radiation hardness V a = 25−50 keV and dose rate E = 0.75−78.05 R/min. Moreover, the persistence of the crystal characteristics completely disappears and the supply voltage of a CdIn2S4〈Cu〉 X-ray detector decreases fivefold. The dependence of the steady X-ray-induced current in CdIn2S4〈Cu〉 on the X-ray dose is described as ΔI E, 0E α, where 0.6 ≤ α ≤ 1.8.  相似文献

We present an insightful ‘derivation’ of the Langevin equation and the fluctuation dissipation theorem in the specific context of a heavier particle moving through an ideal gas of much lighter particles. The Newton’s law of motion (mx = F) for the heavy particle reduces to a Langevin equation (valid on a coarser time-scale) with the assumption that the lighter gas particles follow a Boltzmann velocity distribution. Starting from the kinematics of the random collisions we show that (1) the average force 〈F〉 ∞ −x and (2) the correlation function of the fluctuating forceη = F — 〈F〉 is related to the strength of the average force. New experimental data on the binding energyB λλ ofλλ6He, reported very recently, come up with the valuesB λλ = 725 ±0.14 MeV and ΔBλλ = 101 ±0.2 MeV which are substantially lower than the old dataB λλ = 109 ±0.8 MeV and ΔBλλ = 4.7±10 MeV in use in literature since 1966. In view of the new data we decided to undertake a re-study of the λλ 6 He hypernucleus using the same three-body model (α-λ-λ) with a simple coordinate space variational approach which was employed earlier with the old data onλλ/6He. After fitting different λ-λ potentials to the new data of λλ 6 He we have applied our method to study some double-λ hypernuclei in light, medium and heavy mass regions and have determined the structural quantities like Bλλ, the r.m.s. values of core-λ (〈rcore-λ〉〉) and λ-λ (〈rλ-λ〉〉) distances theoretically. The core-λ interaction considered is of Woods-Saxon type. The strength and the range of the core-A potential have been adjusted to reproduce the λ-binding energy(B λ) . These are in good agreement with the relativistic mean field (RMF) results. Our study shows that the λ-λ bonding energy ΔBλλ decreases with increasing mass number from λλ 10 Be to λλ 210 Pb of a double-A hypernucleus  相似文献
