A potential scheme is proposed for generating cluster states of many trapped ions in thermal motion, in which the effective Hamiltonian does not involve the external degree of freedom and thus the scheme is insensitive to the external state, allowing it to be thermal state. The required experimental techniques of the schemes are within the scope that can be obtained in the ion-trap setup.  相似文献

We present two schemes for preparing cluster states with atomic qubits in an ion-trap system. In the first scheme an auxiliary atomic level is needed. While in the second scheme an additional classical driven field is used, and the multi-ion cluster states can be generated by one step. Both the schemes are insensitive to thermal motion of the ions, all the facilities used in them are well within state of the art.  相似文献

We propose a scheme for one-step generation of cluster states with atoms sent through a thermal cavity with strong classical driving field, based on the resonant atom-cavity interaction so that the operating time is sharply short, which is important in the view of decoherence.  相似文献

Previous work on the retrodictive theory of direct detection is extended to cover the homodyne detection of coherent optical signal states and . The retrodictive input state probabilities are obtained by the application of Bayes' theorem to the corresponding predictive distributions, based on the probability operator measure (POM) elements for the homodyne process. Results are derived for the retrodictive information on the complex amplitude of the signal field obtainable from the difference photocount statistics of both 4-port and 8-port balanced homodyne detection schemes. The local oscillator is usually assumed much stronger than the signal but the case of equal strengths in 4-port detection is also considered. The calculated probability distributions and error rates are illustrated numerically for values of signal and local oscillator strengths that extend from the classical to the quantum regimes.  相似文献

We analyze the transient nonclassical behaviour of a single-mode field whose interaction with an environment is governed by the quantum optical master equation. Our analytic method makes use of the generalized characteristic function of the field state. First, we find a time at which all squeezing effects disappear by decoherence regardless of the initial state of the mode. In the case of an input even coherent state, an unusual modification of higher-order squeezing at low values of thermal mean occupancy transferred to the field is found and discussed. For the same initial state, we also perform a comprehensive analysis of the mixing process during the interaction with the reservoir. We prove that a maximum in the evolution of the 2-entropy of the attenuated mode exists on condition that its initial mean photon number exceeds the mean occupancy of the reservoir. This transient mixing enhancement can be considered as a quantum effect of the initial state on the mode damping. Received 22 April 1999 and Received in final form 2 November 1999  相似文献

We propose a method of generating a four-atom entangled cluster state by considering two kinds of the atoms–cavity field interaction in cavity QED. During the preparation the cavity is only virtually excited no quantum information will be transferred from the atoms to the cavity and thus the scheme is insensitive to the cavity field states and cavity decay. The scheme can also be used to generate the cluster state for the trapped ions.  相似文献

We propose a simple method to obtain a superposition of coherent states on a circle, including Schr?dinger cat states as a special case, via conditional measurement of the state of three level atoms interacting with a one mode cavity field. In the low amplitude limit, very good approximation of Fock states can also be generated in this way. Received: 8 October 1998 / Accepted: 30 October 1998  相似文献

A scheme for implementing 2-qubit quantum controlled phase gate (QCPG) is proposed with two superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) in a cavity. The gate operations are realized within the two lower flux states of the SQUIDs by using a quantized cavity field and classical microwave pulses. Our scheme is achieved without any type of measurement, does not use the cavity mode as the data bus and only requires a very short resonant interaction of the SQUID-cavity system. As an application of the QCPG operation, we also propose a scheme for generating the cluster states of many SQUIDs.  相似文献

We propose a physical scheme for generating a two-atom cluster state through the simultaneous interaction of two two-level atoms with a single-mode cavity field prepared initially in an odd-coherent state under a large-detuned limit. The influence of the dissipation constant, the intensity of the field and the imperfect manipulation on the preparation scheme are investigated. It is shown that when the intensity of the cavity is large enough, the influence of the cavity decay is ettlciently suppressed. The possible error in the implementation of the cluster state is negligible when the time difference between two atoms crossing the cavity axis is small. It is suggested that the scheme can be realized by current technologies.  相似文献

Pairwise thermal entanglement in the three-qubit XXX Heisenberg model with next nearest neighbor interaction and a nonuniform magnetic field has been studied. It's found that the next nearest neighbor interaction has a great effect on the entanglement between the next nearest neighbor sites, but has slight effect on the nearest neighbor entanglement (NNE). Applying a magnetic field at the middle site enhances the next nearest neighbor entanglement (NNNE) sharply when there is a small field at the side sites and the next nearest neighbor coupling constant is positive. A staggered magnetic field helps to maintain nearest neighbor entanglement obviously.  相似文献

A theoretical study is made of the steady-state populations of a three-level atom in a ladder configuration, driven by a superposition of a monochromatic laser wave with a broad-band squeezed vacuum. The master equation for the system and the atomic Bloch equations are derived. The steady-state populations are calculated numerically and shown graphically as functions of two-photon detuning for various cases of the squeezed vacuum. It is shown that, the atomic populations depend strongly on the relative phase of the driving field and the squeezed vacuum. When the phase matching condition is fulfilled, there will be a strong two-photon resonant absorption from the squeezed vacuum, a characteristic different from absorption of photons from a classical field. We have studied quantum effects in the interaction of the exciton with a leaky quasi-mode cavity field. When the exciton is initially prepared in a superposition state which exhibits holes in its photon-number distribution, whereas the cavity field initially is in the vacuum state, it is found that there exists an energy exchange between the exciton and the cavity field. The exciton and the cavity field may exhibit sub-Poissonian distributions and quadrature squeezings. It is shown that there does not exist a violation of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality, which means that the correlation between the exciton and the cavity field is classical. The evolution of the Schr?dinger-cat states in a dissipative parametric amplifier is examined. The main tool in the analysis is the normally ordered characteristic function. Squeezing, photon-number distribution and reduced factorial moments are discussed for the single- and compound-mode cases. Also the single-mode Wigner function is demonstrated. In addition to the decoherence resulting from the interaction with the environment (damped case) there are two sources which can cause such decoherence in the system even if it is completely isolated: these are the decay of the pump and the relative phases of the initial cat states. Furthermore, for the damped case there are two regimes, which are underdamped and overdamped. In the first (second) regime the signal mode or the idler mode “collapses" to a statistical mixture (thermal field). We propose a scheme for implementing a measurement of GHZ entanglement for a multipartite system via cavity QED. In the scheme the atoms interact simultaneously with a highly detuned cavity mode with the assistant of a classical field. The scheme is insensitive to the cavity decay and the thermal field. A set of GHZ states can be exactly distinguished via detecting atomic state in a simple way.  相似文献

The s-parameterized characteristic function for the output field with the superposition of squeezed displaced Fock states (SDFS's) as input field is given. The s-ordered distribution functions for the output field with superposition of SDFS's as input state are investigated. Various moments are calculated by using the s-ordered characteristic function for that field. The Glauber second-order coherence function is calculated. The quadrature squeezing for the output field are discussed. Some Quasiprobability distribution functions of the output fields are plotted as functions of the interaction time. The quadrature squeezing for the output field are discussed. Received 30 September 1998  相似文献

Dense coding of multi-atom entangled states in cavity QED is studied. If the quantum channel is generalized GHZ states, dense coding can be directly realized in a simply way. As for the partially entangled pure states, we propose a feasible protocol for entanglement concentration, and the emciency of information transmitted is calculated. The schemes are insensitive to the cavity decay and the field state, due to the fact that the interaction here is a large-detuned one between atoms and the cavity.  相似文献

Two schemes are proposed for generating atomic qubits cluster states in cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED). In the first scheme, only two-atom-cavity interactions are involved, and cluster states can be directly generated by using constructed two-qubit controlled phase gates. The second scheme needs the assistance of additional single-qubit rotations, but takes less time than the first one for two-atom operations in the cavity. In this scheme, two projective operators are constructed to prepare two-dimension or more complicated configurations of cluster states. Both schemes are insensitive to the cavity decay due to the fact that the cavity is only virtually excited during the interaction between atoms and the cavity. The idea can also be applied to the ion trap system.  相似文献

We study the spontaneous emission properties of a V-type three-level atom embedded in a photonic crystal with the anisotropic dispersion relation. We show that the localized field can disappear and the diffusion field can become intense in some regions. This originates from no singularity of the density of states. The quantum interference leads to oscillatory, quasi-oscillatory or complete decay behavior of population. The complete decay can also be realized in certain condition without depending on the initial state. Received 9 April 2000 and Received in final form 1st August 2000  相似文献

We examine the effects of driving field linewidth on a one-atom dressed state laser. Unexpectedly, the linewidth leads to anomalous effects on the cavity field. The mean photon number of the cavity field is raised or the normalized variance is reduced to a certain degree as the linewidth increases for an appropriate range of parameters. The responsible mechanism is attributed to the fluctuation-induced modification of the electromagnetic reservoir where the atom stays.  相似文献

We show the equivalence between an ensemble of two-level atoms driven by a squeezed vacuum field, and a harmonic oscillator coupled to a squeezed field. We give the conditions for optimal squeezing transfer from the field to the atomic ensemble. We show that EPR-type correlations are created between the atomic ensemble and the incoming field.
