The electronic structure of azulene molecule has been studied. We have obtained the optimized structures of ground and singlet excited states by using the complete active space self-consistent-field (CASSCF) method, and calculated vertical and 0-0 transition energies between the ground and excited states with second-order M?ller-Plesset perturbation theory (CASPT2). The CASPT2 calculations indicate that the bond-equalized C(2v) structure is more stable than the bond-alternating C(s) structure in the ground state. For a physical understanding of electronic structure change from C(2v) to C(s), we have performed the CASSCF calculations of Duschinsky matrix describing mixing of the b(2) vibrational mode between the ground (1A(1)) and the first excited (1B(2)) states based on the Kekule-crossing model. The CASPT2 0-0 transition energies are in fairly good agreement with experimental results within 0.1-0.3 eV. The CASSCF oscillator strengths between the ground and excited states are calculated and compared with experimental data. Furthermore, we have calculated the CASPT2 dipole moments of ground and excited states, which show good agreement with experimental values.  相似文献

Two-photon, two-color double-resonance ionization spectroscopy combining synchrotron vacuum ultraviolet radiation with a tunable near-infrared (NIR) laser has been used to investigate gerade symmetry states of the nitrogen molecule. The rotationally resolved spectrum of an autoionizing (1)Σ(g)(-) state has been excited via the intermediate c(4) (v = 0) (1)Π(u) Rydberg state. We present the analysis of the band located at T(v) = 10,800.7 ± 2 cm(-1) with respect to the intermediate state, 126,366 ± 11 cm(-1) with respect to the ground state, approximately 700 cm(-1) above the first ionization threshold. From the analysis a rotational constant of B(v) = 1.700 ± 0.005 cm(-1) has been determined for this band. Making use of the pulsed structure of the two radiation beams, lifetimes of several rotational levels of the intermediate state have been measured. We also report rotationally-averaged fluorescence lifetimes (300 K) of several excited electronic states accessible from the ground state by absorption of one photon in the range of 13.85-14.9 eV. The averaged lifetimes of the c(4) (0) and c(5) (0) states are 5.6 and 4.4 ns, respectively, while the b(') (12), c(')(4) (4, 5, 6), and c(')(5) (0) states all have lifetimes in the range of hundreds of picoseconds.  相似文献

Quantum-mechanical calculations are reported for the Li+HF(v=0,1,j=0)-->H+LiF(v',j') bimolecular scattering process at low and ultralow temperatures. Calculations have been performed for zero total angular momentum using a recent high-accuracy potential-energy surface for the X2A' electronic ground state. For Li+HF(v=0,j=0), the reaction is dominated by resonances due to the decay of metastable states of the Li cdots,...F-H van der Waals complex. Assignment of these resonances has been carried out by calculating the eigenenergies of the quasibound states. We also find that while chemical reactivity is greatly enhanced by vibrational excitation, the resonances get mostly washed out in the reaction of vibrationally excited HF with Li atoms. In addition, we find that at low energies, the reaction is significantly suppressed due to the less-efficient tunneling of the relatively heavy fluorine atom.  相似文献

Selective control of HOD photodissociation (H-O + D ← HOD → H + O-D) has been theoretically investigated using CW lasers with appropriate carrier frequency and |0, 0〉, |0, 1〉 and |0, 2〉 with zero quantum of excitation in the O-H bond and zero, one and two quanta of excitation in the O-D bond as the initial states. Results indicate that the O-H bond in HOD can be selectively dissociated with a maximum flux of 87% in the H + O-D channel from the ground vibrational state |0, 0〉. For the O-D bond dissociation, it requires two quanta of excitation (|0, 2〉) in the O-D mode to obtain 83% flux in the H-O + D channel. Use of a two colour laser set-up in conjunction with the field optimized initial state (FOIST) scheme to obtain an optimal linear combination of |0, 0〉 and |0, 1〉 vibrational states as the initial state provides an additional 7% improvement to flux in the H-O + D channel as compared to that from the pure |0, 1〉 state.  相似文献

Four internal-rotation/vibration bands of the Ne-D(2)O complex have been measured in the v(2) bend region of D(2)O using a tunable infrared diode laser spectrometer to probe a slit supersonic expansion. Three ortho bands are excited from the ground state Σ(0(00)) to the Σ and Π(1(11), υ(2) = 1) internal rotor states and the n = 1, Σ(0(00), υ(2) = 1) stretching-internal rotor combination state. Strong perturbations between the excited vibrational states are evident. The observed spectra are analyzed separately with a three-state J-dependent Coriolis plus J-independent angular-radial coupling model [M. J. Weida and D. J. Nesbitt, J. Chem. Phys. 106, 3078 (1997)] and a three-state Coriolis coupling model [R. C. Cohen and R. J. Saykally, J. Chem. Phys. 95, 7891 (1991)]. The former model works more successfully than the latter. Molecular constants for the ground and excited vibrational states of ortho (20)Ne-D(2)O isotopomer as well as the Coriolis and angular-radial coupling constants are determined accurately. The van der Waals stretching frequency is estimated to be ν(s) = 24.85 cm(-1) in the ground state and decreases to about 20.8 cm(-1) upon vibrational excitation of the D(2)O bend.  相似文献

Highly correlated coupled cluster methods with single and double excitations (CSSD) and CCSD with perturbative triple excitations were used to predict molecular structures and harmonic vibrational frequencies for the electronic ground state X 1Sigma+, and for the 3Delta, 3Sigma+, 3Phi, 1 3Pi, 2 3Pi, 1Sigma+, 1Delta, and 1Pi excited states of NiCO. The X 1Sigma+ ground state's geometry is for the first time compared with the recently determined experimental structure. The adiabatic excitation energies, vertical excitation energies, and dissociation energies of these excited states are predicted. The importance of pi and sigma bonding for the Ni-C bond is discussed based on the structures of excited states.  相似文献

Ab initio potential energy surfaces and the corresponding analytical energy functions of the ground 1A' and excited 2A' states for the Li(2(2)P) plus H(2) reaction are constructed. Quasiclassical trajectory calculations on the fitted energy functions are performed to characterize the reactions of Li(2(2)P) with H(2)(v = 0, j = 1) and H(2)(v = 1, j = 1) as well as the reaction when the vibrational energy is replaced by collision energy. For simplicity, the transition probability is assumed to be unity when the trajectories go through the crossing seam region and change to the lower surface. The calculated rotational distributions of LiH(v = 0) for both H(2)(v = 0, j = 1) and H(2)(v = 1, j = 1) reactions are single-peaked with the maximum population at j' = 7, consistent with the previous observation. The vibrational excitation of H(2)(v = 1) may enhance the reaction cross section of LiH(v' = 0) by about 200 times, as compared to a result of 93-107 reported in the experimental measurements. In contrast, the enhancement is 3.1, if the same amount of energy is deposited in the translational states. This endothermic reaction can be considered as an analog of late barrier. According to the trajectory analysis, the vibrational excitation enlarges the H-H distance in the entrance channel to facilitate the reaction, but the excess energy may not open up additional reaction configuration.  相似文献

The electric dipole moment in the ground state (vp = 0) and the first five excited states (vp = 1 … 5) of the ring puckering vibration of thietane have been determined from Stark shifts of rotational transitions. The results are: 0|μa|0 = 1.87583(16) D, 1|μa|1 = 1.87341(18) D, 2|μa|2 = 1.89759(28) D, 3|μa|3 = 1.88688(29) D, 4|μa|4 = 1.90036(18) D, 5|μa|5 = 1.88596(59) D. The dependence of these values on vp shows the zig-zagging behaviour typical of modes with double minimum potentials. A combined analysis of the ground and first excited states yielded also a precise value for the transition moment, 0|μc|1 = 0.24023(49) D.

A potential and electric dipole moment function has been derived from ab initio calculations, using MP2 and the 6–31G** basis set. Expectation values of the dipole and transition moments were determined from these data. Absolute values are about 5% in error, but the variation with vibrational state is reproduced excellently by the theoretical values.  相似文献

The SH + CH(3) product channel for the photodissociation of CH(3)SH at 204 nm was investigated using the sliced velocity map ion imaging technique with the detection of CH(3) products using state selective (2+1) resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI). Images were measured for CH(3) formed in the ground and excited vibrational states (v(2) = 0, 1, and 2) of the umbrella mode from which the correlated SH vibrational state distributions were determined. The vibrational distribution of the SH fragment in the SH + CH(3) channel at 204 nm is clearly inverted and peaks at v = 1. The highly negative anisotropy parameter of the CH(3) (v(2) = 0, 1, and 2) products is indicative of a fast dissociation process for C-S bond cleavage. Two kinds of slower CH(3) products were also observed (one of which was partly vibrationally resolved) that are assigned to a two-step photodissociation processes, in which the first step is the production of the CH(3)S (X(2)E) radical via cleavage of the S-H bond in CH(3)SH, followed by probe laser photodissociation of nascent CH(3)S radicals yielding CH(3)(X(2)A(1), v(2) = 0-2) + S((3)P(j)/(1)D) products.  相似文献

The pump-probe polarization anisotropy is computed for molecules with a nondegenerate ground state, two degenerate or nearly degenerate excited states with perpendicular transition dipoles, and no resonant excited-state absorption. Including finite pulse effects, the initial polarization anisotropy at zero pump-probe delay is predicted to be r(0) = 3/10 with coherent excitation. During pulse overlap, it is shown that the four-wave mixing classification of signal pathways as ground or excited state is not useful for pump-probe signals. Therefore, a reclassification useful for pump-probe experiments is proposed, and the coherent anisotropy is discussed in terms of a more general transition dipole and molecular axis alignment instead of experiment-dependent ground- versus excited-state pathways. Although coherent excitation enhances alignment of the transition dipole, the molecular axes are less aligned than for a single dipole transition, lowering the initial anisotropy. As the splitting between excited states increases beyond the laser bandwidth and absorption line width, the initial anisotropy increases from 3/10 to 4/10. Asymmetric vibrational coordinates that lift the degeneracy control the electronic energy gap and off-diagonal coupling between electronic states. These vibrations dephase coherence and equilibrate the populations of the (nearly) degenerate states, causing the anisotropy to decay (possibly with oscillations) to 1/10. Small amounts of asymmetric inhomogeneity (2 cm(-1)) cause rapid (130 fs) suppression of both vibrational and electronic anisotropy beats on the excited state, but not vibrational beats on the ground electronic state. Recent measurements of conical intersection dynamics in a silicon napthalocyanine revealed anisotropic quantum beats that had to be assigned to asymmetric vibrations on the ground electronic state only [Farrow, D. A.; J. Chem. Phys. 2008, 128, 144510]. Small environmental asymmetries likely explain the observed absence of excited-state asymmetric vibrations in those experiments.  相似文献

A state-selected beam of hydroxyl radicals is generated using a pulsed discharge source and hexapole field. The OH radicals are characterized by resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) spectroscopy via the nested D 2Sigma- and 3 2Sigma- Rydberg states. Simplified spectra are observed from the selected |MJ|=3/2 component of the upper Lambda-doublet level of the lowest rotational state (J=32) in ground (v"=0) and excited (v"=1-3) vibrational levels of the OH X 2Pi3/2 state. Two-photon transitions are observed to the D 2Sigma-(v'=0-3) and 3 2Sigma-(v'=0,1) vibronic levels, extending previous studies to higher vibrational levels of the Rydberg states. Spectroscopic constants are derived for the Rydberg states and compared with prior experimental studies. Complementary first-principle theoretical studies of the properties of the D 2Sigma- and 3 2Sigma- Rydberg states [see M. P. J. van der Loo and G. C. Groenenboom, J. Chem. Phys. 123, 074310 (2005), following paper] are used to interpret the experimental findings and examine the utility of the (2+1) REMPI scheme for sensitive detection of OH radicals.  相似文献

Highly correlated ab initio methods were used in order to generate the potential energy curves of the electronic states of the SO(2+) dication and of the electronic ground state of the neutral SO molecule. These curves were used to predict the spectroscopic properties of this dication and to perform forward calculations of the double photoionization spectrum of SO. In light of spin-orbit calculations, the metastability of this doubly charged ion is discussed: for instance, the rovibrational levels of the X (1)Sigma(+) and A (3)Sigma(+) states are found to present relatively long lifetimes. In contrast, the other electronic excited states should predissociate to form S(+) and O(+) in their electronic ground states. The simulated spectrum shows structures due to transitions between the v=0 vibrational level of SO (X (3)Sigma(-)) and the vibrational levels below the barrier maximum of 11 of the calculated electronic states. The 2 (1)Sigma(+) electronic state of SO(2+) received further treatment: in addition to vibrational bands due to the below barrier energy levels of this electronic state, at least nine continuum resonances were predicted which are responsible for the special shape of the spectrum in this energy region. This work is predictive in nature and should stimulate future experimental investigations dealing with this dication.  相似文献

The ground and low-lying excited states of CoCN have been studied by ab initio multireference single and double excitation configuration interaction (MR-SDCI) calculations with Davidson's correction Q and Cowan-Griffin's relativistic corrections. The electronic ground state of CoCN is (3)Phi(i) and the equilibrium geometry is linear with bond lengths of r(e)(Co-C)=1.8540 A and r(e)(C-N)=1.1677 A, substantially different from the experimentally derived values of r(0)(Co-C)=1.8827(7) A and r(0)(C-N)=1.1313(10) A. The first excited state is (3)Delta(i), separated from the ground state by 727 cm(-1). Larger dynamical electron correlation energy for the low-spin (3)Phi state than for the high-spin (5)Phi state makes the (3)Phi state to be the ground state, which is discussed in terms of the differences in natural orbitals. A new spin-orbit interaction scheme between the X (3)Phi(i) and 1 (3)Delta(i) states is proposed.  相似文献

An experimental two-color photoionization dynamics study of laser-excited Br2 molecules is presented, combining pulsed visible laser excitation and tunable vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) synchrotron radiation with photoelectron imaging. The X 1Sigmag + -B 3Pi0+u transition in Br2 is excited at 527 nm corresponding predominantly to excitation of the v' = 28 vibrational level in the B 3Pi0+u state. Tunable VUV undulator radiation in the energy range of 8.40-10.15 eV is subsequently used to ionize the excited molecules to the X 2Pi32,12 state of the ion, and the ionic ground state is probed by photoelectron imaging. Similar experiments are performed using single-photon synchrotron ionization in the photon energy range of 10.75-12.50 eV without any laser excitation. Photoelectron kinetic energy distributions are extracted from the photoelectron images. In the case of two-color photoionization using resonant excitation of the intermediate B 3Pi0+u state, a broad distribution of photoelectron kinetic energies is observed, and in some cases even a bimodal distribution, which depends on the VUV photon energy. In contrast, for single-photon ionization, a single nearly Gaussian-shaped distribution is observed, which shifts to higher energy with photon energy. Simulated spectra based on Franck-Condon factors for the transitions Br2(X 1Sigmag+, v" = 0)-Br2 +(X 2Pi12,32, v+) and Br2(B 3Pi0+u, v' = 28)-Br2 +(X 2Pi12,32, v+) are generated. Comparison of these calculated spectra with the measured images suggests that the differences in the kinetic energy distributions for the two ionization processes reflect the different extensions of the vibrational wave functions in the v" = 0 electronic ground state (X 1Sigmag+) versus the electronically and vibrationally excited state (B 3Pi0+u, v' = 28).  相似文献

The resonance Raman scattering spectra of uranyl formate (UO(2)(HCOO)(2)) in dimethyl sulfoxide ((CH(3))(2)SO, DMSO) have been measured under laser excitation of the uranyl ion in resonance with the 1Sigma(g)(+)-->(1)Phi(g) Laport forbidden f-f electronic transitions (ranging from 510 to 450 nm) by using ten output lines with wavelength ranging from 528.7 to 454.5 nm of the argon-ion laser at room temperature. The observed resonance excitation profile resembles the vibronic structure of the electronic absorption spectrum (ABS) but does not completely superimpose on it. Such a discrepancy is quantitatively explained by the interference effect, which occurs noticeably in the UO(2)L(2) (L=NO(3), CH(3)COO, Cl or HCOO)-DMSO system. Transform theory that makes use of the electronic ABS of the resonant electronic state has been applied to predict the Raman excitation profile (REP) of the uranyl totally symmetric stretching vibrational mode. Comparing the experimental REP with the transform theory prediction, it is found that the resonance Raman intensities of this stretching mode depend mainly on the vibronic interaction (non-Condon effect) in excited electronic states. Reliable value of the nuclear displacement on going the 1Sigma(g)(+)-->(1)Phi(g) electronic transition and the amount of charge transferred from the ligand to uranium of uranyl ion both in the ground and excited states are obtained. Elongation of the U-O equilibrium bond length due to the electronic transition is related to the magnitude of the change in the excitation profile, and has linear relation to the change in the amount of charge transferred from the ligand to uranium of uranyl ion in UO(2)L(2) type uranyl compounds in DMSO.  相似文献

We report results of two-color resonant four-wave mixing experiments on highly predissociated levels of the methylthio (or thiomethoxy) radical CH3S in its first excited electronic state A 2A1. Following photolysis of jet-cooled dimethyl disulfide at 248 nm, the spectra were measured with a hole-burning scheme in which the probe laser excited specific rotational transitions in band 3(3). The spectral simplification afforded by the two-color method allows accurate determination of line positions and homogeneous linewidths, which are reported for the C-S stretching states 3v(v=3-7) and combination states 1(1)3v(v=0-2), 2(1)3v(v=3-6), and 1(1)2(1)3v(v=0,1) involving the symmetric CH3 stretching (nu1) mode and the CH3 umbrella (nu2) mode. The spectra show pronounced mode specificity, as the homogeneous linewidth of levels with similar energies varies up to two orders of magnitude; nu3 is clearly a promoting mode for dissociation. Derived vibrational wave numbers omega1', omega2', and omega3' of the A state agree satisfactorily with ab initio predictions.  相似文献
