In this paper we establish a direct connection between stable approximate unitary equivalence for *-homomorphisms and the topology of the KK-groups which avoids entirely C*-algebra extension theory and does not require nuclearity assumptions. To this purpose we show that a topology on the Kasparov groups can be defined in terms of approximate unitary equivalence for Cuntz pairs and that this topology coincides with both Pimsner's topology and the Brown-Salinas topology. We study the generalized Rørdam group , and prove that if a separable exact residually finite dimensional C*-algebra satisfies the universal coefficient theorem in KK-theory, then it embeds in the UHF algebra of type 2. In particular such an embedding exists for the C*-algebra of a second countable amenable locally compact maximally almost periodic group.  相似文献

Valdivia invented a nondistinguished Fréchet space whose weak bidual is quasi-Suslin but not K-analytic. We prove that Grothendieck/Köthe's original nondistinguished Fréchet space serves the same purpose. Indeed, a Fréchet space is distinguished if and only if its strong dual has countable tightness, a corollary to the fact that a (DF)-space is quasibarrelled if and only if its tightness is countable. This answers a Cascales/K?kol/Saxon question and leads to a rich supply of (DF)-spaces whose weak duals are quasi-Suslin but not K-analytic, including the spaces Cc(κ) for κ a cardinal of uncountable cofinality. Our level of generality rises above (DF)- or even dual metric spaces to Cascales/Orihuela's class G. The small cardinals b and d invite a novel analysis of the Grothendieck/Köthe example, and are useful throughout.  相似文献

In the present investigation we link noncommutative geometry over noncommutative tori with Gabor analysis, where the first has its roots in operator algebras and the second in time-frequency analysis. We are therefore in the position to invoke modern methods of operator algebras, e.g. topological stable rank of Banach algebras, to display the deeper properties of Gabor frames. Furthermore, we are able to extend results due to Connes and Rieffel on projective modules over noncommutative tori to Banach algebras, which arise in a natural manner in Gabor analysis. The main goal of this investigation is twofold: (i) an interpretation of projective modules over noncommutative tori in terms of Gabor analysis and (ii) to show that the Morita-Rieffel equivalence between noncommutative tori is the natural framework for the duality theory of Gabor frames. More concretely, we interpret generators of projective modules over noncommutative tori as the Gabor atoms of multi-window Gabor frames for modulation spaces. Moreover, we show that this implies the existence of good multi-window Gabor frames for modulation spaces with Gabor atoms in e.g. Feichtinger's algebra or in Schwartz space.  相似文献

Given an edge- or vertex-weighted graph or digraph and a list of source-sink pairs, the minimum multicut problem consists in selecting a minimum weight set of edges or vertices whose removal leaves no path from each source to the corresponding sink. This is a classical NP-hard problem, and we show that the edge version becomes tractable in bounded tree-width graphs if the number of source-sink pairs is fixed, but remains NP-hard in directed acyclic graphs and APX-hard in bounded tree-width and bounded degree unweighted digraphs. The vertex version, although tractable in trees, is proved to be NP-hard in unweighted cacti of bounded degree and bounded path-width.  相似文献

We analyze Parseval frames generated by the action of an ICC group on a Hilbert space. We parametrize the set of all such Parseval frames by operators in the commutant of the corresponding representation. We characterize when two such frames are strongly disjoint. We prove an undersampling result showing that if the representation has a Parseval frame of equal norm vectors of norm , the Hilbert space is spanned by an orthonormal basis generated by a subgroup. As applications we obtain some sufficient conditions under which a unitary representation admits a Parseval frame which is spanned by a Riesz sequences generated by a subgroup. In particular, every subrepresentation of the left-regular representation of a free group has this property.  相似文献

The pair length of a graph G is the maximum positive integer k, such that the vertex set of G can be partitioned into disjoint pairs {x,x}, such that d(x,x)?k for every xV(G) and xy is an edge of G whenever xy is an edge. Chen asked whether the pair length of the cartesian product of two graphs is equal to the sum of their pair lengths. Our aim in this short note is to prove this result.  相似文献

Let D be an edge-coloured digraph, V(D) will denote the set of vertices of D; a set NV(D) is said to be a kernel by monochromatic paths of D if it satisfies the following two conditions: For every pair of different vertices u,vN there is no monochromatic directed path between them and; for every vertex xV(D)−N there is a vertex yN such that there is an xy-monochromatic directed path.In this paper we consider some operations on edge-coloured digraphs, and some sufficient conditions for the existence or uniqueness of kernels by monochromatic paths of edge-coloured digraphs formed by these operations from another edge-coloured digraphs.  相似文献

The automorphism group and outer automorphism group of a free group Fn of rank n act on the abelianized group H of Fn and the dual group H* of H. The twisted first homology groups of and with coefficients in H and H* are calculated.  相似文献

Two Latin squares of order v are r-orthogonal if their superposition produces exactly r distinct ordered pairs. If the second square is the transpose of the first one, we say that the first square is r-self-orthogonal, denoted by r-SOLS(v). It has been proved that for any integer v?28, there exists an r-SOLS(v) if and only if v?r?v2 and r∉{v+1,v2-1}. In this paper, we give an almost complete solution for the existence of r-self-orthogonal Latin squares.  相似文献

In this paper a new class of higher order (F,ρ,σ)-type I functions for a multiobjective programming problem is introduced, which subsumes several known studied classes. Higher order Mond-Weir and Schaible type dual programs are formulated for a nondifferentiable multiobjective fractional programming problem where the objective functions and the constraints contain support functions of compact convex sets in Rn. Weak and strong duality results are studied in both the cases assuming the involved functions to be higher order (F,ρ,σ)-type I. A number of previously studied problems appear as special cases.  相似文献

We prove that II1 factors M have a unique (up to unitary conjugacy) cross-product type decomposition around “core subfactors” NM satisfying the property HT of [S. Popa, On a class of type II1 factors with Betti numbers invariants, Ann. of Math. (2) 163 (2006) 809-899] and a certain “torsion freeness” condition. In particular, this shows that isomorphism of factors of the form Lαi(Z2)?Fni, i=1,2, for FniSL(2,Z) free groups of rank ni and αj=e2πitj, tjQ, implies n1=n2.  相似文献

Given a hyperplane arrangement in an affine space equipped with a linear functional, we define two finite-dimensional, noncommutative algebras, both of which are motivated by the geometry of hypertoric varieties. We show that these algebras are Koszul dual to each other, and that the roles of the two algebras are reversed by Gale duality. We also study the centers and representation categories of our algebras, which are in many ways analogous to integral blocks of category O.  相似文献

We consider the following problem: Given a set of m×n real (or complex) matrices A1,…,AN, find an m×m orthogonal (or unitary) matrix P and an n×n orthogonal (or unitary) matrix Q such that P*A1Q,…,P*ANQ are in a common block-diagonal form with possibly rectangular diagonal blocks. We call this the simultaneous singular value decomposition (simultaneous SVD). The name is motivated by the fact that the special case with N=1, where a single matrix is given, reduces to the ordinary SVD. With the aid of the theory of *-algebra and bimodule it is shown that a finest simultaneous SVD is uniquely determined. An algorithm is proposed for finding the finest simultaneous SVD on the basis of recent algorithms of Murota-Kanno-Kojima-Kojima and Maehara-Murota for simultaneous block-diagonalization of square matrices under orthogonal (or unitary) similarity.  相似文献

This paper introduces an iteration scheme for viscosity approximation of a zero of accretive operator in a reflexive Banach space with weakly continuous duality mapping. A new iterative sequence is introduced and strong convergence of the algorithm {xn} is proved. The results improve and extend the results of Su [Xiaolong Qin, Yongfu Su, Approximation of a zero point of accretive operator in Banach spaces, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 320 (2007) 415-424] and some others.  相似文献

Let G be a graph of order n and S be a vertex set of q vertices. We call G,S-pancyclable, if for every integer i with 3≤iq there exists a cycle C in G such that |V(C)∩S|=i. For any two nonadjacent vertices u,v of S, we say that u,v are of distance two in S, denoted by dS(u,v)=2, if there is a path P in G connecting u and v such that |V(P)∩S|≤3. In this paper, we will prove that if G is 2-connected and for all pairs of vertices u,v of S with dS(u,v)=2, , then there is a cycle in G containing all the vertices of S. Furthermore, if for all pairs of vertices u,v of S with dS(u,v)=2, , then G is S-pancyclable unless the subgraph induced by S is in a class of special graphs. This generalizes a result of Fan [G. Fan, New sufficient conditions for cycles in graphs, J. Combin. Theory B 37 (1984) 221-227] for the case when S=V(G).  相似文献

If (Σ,X) is a measurable space and X a Banach space we investigate the X-inheritance of copies of ? in certain subspaces Δ(Σ,X) of bvca(Σ,X), the Banach space of all X-valued countable additive measures of bounded variation equipped with the variation norm. Among the consequences of our main theorem we get a theorem of J. Mendoza on the X-inheritance of copies of ? in the Bochner space L1(μ,X) and other of the author on the X-inheritance of copies of ? in bvca(Σ,X).  相似文献

We prove that two dual operator algebras are weak Morita equivalent in the sense of [D.P. Blecher, U. Kashyap, Morita equivalence of dual operator algebras, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 212 (2008) 2401-2412] if and only if they have equivalent categories of dual operator modules via completely contractive functors which are also weak-continuous on appropriate morphism spaces. Moreover, in a fashion similar to the operator algebra case, we characterize such functors as the module normal Haagerup tensor product with an appropriate weak Morita equivalence bimodule. We also develop the theory of the W-dilation, which connects the non-selfadjoint dual operator algebra with the W-algebraic framework. In the case of weak Morita equivalence, this W-dilation is a W-module over a von Neumann algebra generated by the non-selfadjoint dual operator algebra. The theory of the W-dilation is a key part of the proof of our main theorem.  相似文献

We prove maximal ergodic inequalities for a sequence of operators and for their averages in the noncommutative Lp-space. We also obtain the corresponding individual ergodic theorems. Applying these results to actions of a free group on a von Neumann algebra, we get noncommutative analogues of maximal ergodic inequalities and pointwise ergodic theorems of Nevo-Stein.  相似文献

We investigate a new 8-dimensional Riemannian geometry defined by a generic closed and coclosed 3-form with stabiliser PSU(3), and which arises as a critical point of Hitchin's variational principle. We give a Riemannian characterisation of this structure in terms of invariant spinor-valued 1-forms, which are harmonic with respect to the twisted Dirac operator ? on ΔΛ1. We establish various obstructions to the existence of topological reductions to PSU(3). For compact manifolds, we also give sufficient conditions for topological PSU(3)-structures that can be lifted to topological SU(3)-structures. We also construct the first known compact example of an integrable non-symmetric PSU(3)-structure. In the same vein, we give a new Riemannian characterisation for topological quaternionic Kähler structures which are defined by an Sp(1)⋅Sp(2)-invariant self-dual 4-form. Again, we show that this form is closed if and only if the corresponding spinor-valued 1-form is harmonic for ? and that these equivalent conditions produce constraints on the Ricci tensor.  相似文献
