Multilayer relaxation at high-index Cu(n, n−1, 0) (n=2, 3 and 4) stepped surfaces was determined by the first-principles pseudopotential plane wave (PPPW) method. For those surfaces that have n and n−1 atom-rows in terrace and subterrace, respectively, the topmost 2n−2 interlayer spacings contract, while the 2n−1st interlayer spacing expands. There is no similar rule found for the relaxations parallel to the surfaces. Compared with the bulk terminated structure, a thin compact layer, which consisted of the topmost 2n−1 atom layers and separated slightly from the underneath atom layers, makes the surface more flat after relaxation. The bond-lengths between the step edge (first layer) atom and its nearest-neighbors do not depend on the surface termination, but only on the local coordination.  相似文献

Surface structures and electronic properties of hypophosphite, H2PO2, molecularly adsorbed on Ni(1 1 1) and Cu(1 1 1) surfaces are investigated in this work by density functional theory at B3LYP/6-31++g(d, p) level. We employ a four-metal-atom cluster as the simplified model for the surface and have fully optimized the geometry and orientation of H2PO2 on the metal cluster. Six stable orientations have been discovered on both Ni (1 1 1) and Cu (1 1 1) surfaces. The most stable orientation of H2PO2 was found to have its two oxygen atoms interact the surface with two PO bonds pointing downward. Results of the Mulliken population analysis showed that the back donation from 3d orbitals of the transition metal substrate to the unfilled 3d orbital of the phosphorus atom in H2PO2 and 4s orbital's acceptance of electron donation from one lone pair of the oxygen atom in H2PO2 play very important roles in the H2PO2 adsorption on the transition metals. The averaged electron configuration of Ni in Ni4 cluster is 4s0.634p0.023d9.35 and that of Cu in Cu4 cluster is 4s1.004p0.033d9.97. Because of this subtle difference of electron configuration, the adsorption energy is larger on the Ni surface than on the Cu surface. The amount of charge transfers due to above two donations is larger from H2PO2 to the Ni surface than to the Cu surface, leading to a more positively charged P atom in NinH2PO2 than in CunH2PO2. These results indicate that the phosphorus atom in NinH2PO2 complex is easier to be attacked by a nucleophile such as OH and subsequent oxidation of H2PO2 can take place more favorably on Ni substrate than on Cu substrate.  相似文献

We have performed density-functional theory calculations to study the atomic structure of the K/Pd(1 0 0)-p(2 × 2) and -c(2 × 2) surfaces formed at 0.25 ML and 0.5 ML, respectively. We find that K atoms prefer the hollow site with the K adsorption height 2.44 Å for p(2 × 2) and 2.50 Å c(2 × 2). The first interlayer spacing (d12) of the Pd(1 0 0) substrate appears slightly contracted from the bulk value as Δd12 = −0.8% and −0.3% for p(2 × 2) and c(2 × 2), respectively. The calculated contraction Δd12 = −0.3% for c(2 × 2) is not in accord with the expansion Δd12 = +1.3% reported by a low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) study. As the origin of this difference, a possibility of hydrogen contamination of the surface sample used in the LEED study is suggested: Our calculations show that the d12 of K/Pd(1 0 0)-c(2 × 2) increases linearly with the coverage of H coadsorption, which leads to an estimation for the H coverage of the surface sample as 0.1-0.4 ML.  相似文献

Resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) has been applied to study the n → 3p Rydberg transition of pyrimidine (jet-cooled sample and mass resolved spectrum). Only the one component, the 3pz(B2), appears in the (2 + 1) REMPI and the active vibrations are ν6a = 622, ν1 = 946, and ν9a = 1116 cm−1. The symmetry of the state was determined by polarization measurements (linear, circular polarization). The first (π,n) 3B1 triplet state appears as a one-photon resonance in the three-photon ionization process.  相似文献

The effects of surface preparation and illumination on electric parameters of Au/InSb/InP(100) Schottky diode were investigated, in the later diode InSb forms a fine restructuration layer allowing to block In atoms migration to surface. In order to study the electric characteristics under illumination, we make use of an He-Ne laser of 1 mW power and 632.8 nm wavelength. The current-voltage I(VG), the capacitance-voltage C(VG) measurements were plotted and analysed. The saturation current Is, the serial resistance Rs and the mean ideality factor n are, respectively, equal to 2.03 × 10−5 A, 85 Ω, 1.7 under dark and to 3.97 × 10−5 A, 67 Ω, 1.59 under illumination. The analysis of I(VG) and C(VG) characteristics allows us to determine the mean interfacial state density Nss and the transmission coefficient θn equal, respectively, to 4.33 × 1012 eV−1 cm−2, 4.08 × 10−3 under dark and 3.79 × 1012 eV−1 cm−2 and 5.65 × 10−3 under illumination. The deep discrete donor levels presence in the semiconductor bulk under dark and under illumination are responsible for the non-linearity of the C−2(VG) characteristic.  相似文献

We report on the precise location of Cl atoms chemisorbed on a Cu(0 0 1) surface and the interlayer relaxations of the metal surface. Previous studies have shown that chlorine dissociates on Cu(0 0 1) to form a c(2 × 2) chemisorbed layer with Cl atoms occupying four-fold hollow sites. A Cu-Cl interlayer spacing of 1.60 Å and a slightly expanded Cu-Cu first interlayer spacing of 1.85 Å (1.807 Å for bulk Cu) was determined by LEED. The resulting Cu-Cl bond length, 2.41 Å, is very similar to the SEXAFS value of 2.37 Å. Contradictory results were obtained by angle-resolved photoemission extended fine structure: while confirming the Cu-Cl interlayer spacing of 1.60 Å, no first Cu-Cu interlayer relaxation has been observed. On the other hand, a small corrugation of the second Cu layer was pointed out. We carried out a detailed structural determination of the Cu(0 0 1)-c(2 × 2)-Cl system using surface X-ray diffraction technique with synchrotron radiation. We find a Cu-Cl interlayer spacing of 1.584(5) Å and confirm the expansion of the first Cu-Cu interlayer, with an average spacing of 1.840(5) Å. In addition, we observe a small corrugation of the second Cu layer, with Cu atoms just below Cl atoms more tightly bound to the surface layer, and even a second Cu-Cu interlayer expansion.  相似文献

The oxidation of the W(1 0 0) surface at elevated temperatures has been studied using room temperature STM and LEED. High exposure of the clean surface to O2 at 1500 K followed by flash-annealing to 2300 K in UHV results in the formation of a novel p(3 × 1) reconstruction, which is imaged by STM as a missing-row structure on the surface. Upon further annealing in UHV, this surface develops a floreted LEED pattern characteristic of twinned microdomains of monoclinic WOx, while maintaining the p(3 × 1) missing-row structure. Atomically resolved STM images of this surface show a complex domain structure with single and double W〈0 1 0〉 rows coexisting on the surface in different domains.  相似文献

We have traced the development of the Ni electronic structure with thickness variation on flat and nano-structured Cu(0 0 1) surfaces by means of photoemission spectroscopy. The binding energy of the Ni 2p3/2 main peak and satellite peak is found to have shifted monotonically in the direction opposite to each other, with the increase of Ni coverage. The reduced binding energy of the thin film’s main peak is strongly correlated to the Cu 4s/Ni 3d interfacial hybridization effect (s/d IHE) and the narrowing of the d band with the reduction of dimensions, while the increased satellite binding energy results from the combination of interface hybridization and expansion of an extended 4s-like state towards the vacuum. The center of the Ni dxy band is predicted to shift closer to the Fermi level with increasing film thickness. Enhanced satellite intensity in thin films is observed, correlating to the narrowing of the d band with decreased film thickness. Through comparison of Ni films grown on flat versus nano-structured Cu(0 0 1) surfaces, the mixing of Cu and Ni atoms is found to be enhanced at the terrace edge region and consequently a larger s/d IHE is predicted for Ni on the nano-structured surface.  相似文献

A density-functional theory (DFT) study is performed using a full-potential linearized-augmented-plane-waves (FP-LAPW) method to investigate the magnetic structure of vanadium-molybdenum systems (Vn/Mo(0 0 1), n = 1, 2). The topmost V layers relax inward in both systems with a larger contraction in V2/Mo(0 0 1) system. A p(1 × 1) in-plane ferromagnetic ordering with appreciable magnetic moments is obtained on V overlayers, which is found to be the ground state in both systems. The layers below the surface exhibit induced magnetism with antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling.  相似文献

The reaction of SO2 with stoichiometric TiO2(1 1 0), partially reduced TiO2 − x(1 1 0) and Cu/TiO2(1 1 0) was investigated using synchrotron based X-ray photoemission spectroscopy. SO2 adsorbs on perfect TiO2(1 1 0) forming SO4 species at room temperature, while SO2 dissociatively adsorbs on partially reduced TiO2 − x(1 1 0) forming SO4, SO3 as well as two sulfide species. SO2 exposure to Cu particles supported on perfect TiO2(1 1 0) can lead to the formation of SO4, SO3 and sulfide species. When depositing Cu on SO4/TiO2(1 1 0) at room temperature, the dissociation efficiency of Cu atoms is much higher than that of Cu deposited on TiO2(1 1 0) prior to SO2 dosing. The post-deposited Cu atoms can efficiently contact and react with SO4 species before they form Cu-Cu bonds and big clusters. Small Cu nanoparticles supported on TiO2(1 1 0) are more reactive towards SO2 than surfaces of bulk copper. The chemical reactivity of the Cu/TiO2(1 1 0) system increases with Cu coverage until reaching a maximum at θCu = 0.5-0.8 ML. After this point, an increase in Cu coverage leads to the formation of big Cu particles and the reactivity of the system decrease to that typical of bulk Cu. A comparison with results for SO2/Cu/MgO(0 0 1) indicates that the effects of size and metal ↔ oxide interactions are important for the chemical activation of Cu nanoparticles on titania.  相似文献

Emission spectra of the b1Σ+(b0+) → X3Σ(X10+,X21) and a1Δ(a2) → X21 transitions of AsBr have been measured in the near-infrared spectral region with a Fourier-transform spectrometer. The arsenic bromide radicals were generated in fast-flow systems by reaction of arsenic vapor (Asx) with bromine and were excited by microwave-discharged oxygen. The most prominent features in the spectrum are the Δv = +1,0,−1, and −2 band sequences of the b1Σ+(b0+) → X3Σ(X10+) transition in the range 11 700-12 700 cm−1. With lower intensities, the Δv = 0 and −1 sequences of the b1Σ+(b0+) → X3Σ(X21) sub-system show up in the same range. Further to the red, between 6000 and 6700 cm−1, the Δv = 0, +1, and −1 sequences of the hitherto unknown a1Δ(a2) → X21 transition are observed. Analyses of medium- and high-resolution spectra have yielded improved molecular constants for the X10+, X21, and b0+ states and first values of the electronic energy and the vibrational constants of the a2 state.  相似文献

Using infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS) and temperature programmed desorption (TPD), we investigated carbon monoxide (CO) adsorption and desorption behaviors on atomic checkerboard structures of Cu and Pd formed by Pd vacuum deposition at various temperatures of Cu(1 0 0). The 0.15-nm-thick Pd deposition onto a clean Cu(1 0 0) surface at room temperature (RT) showed a clear c(2 × 2) low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) pattern, i.e. Cu(1 0 0)-c(2 × 2)-Pd. The RT-CO exposure to the c(2 × 2) surfaces resulted in IRRAS absorption caused by CO adsorbed on the on-top sites of Pd. The LEED patterns of the Pd-deposited Cu(1 0 0) at higher substrate temperatures revealed less-contrasted c(2 × 2) patterns. The IRRAS intensities of the linearly bonded CO bands on 373-K-, 473-K-, and 673-K-deposited c(2 × 2) surfaces are, respectively, 25%, 22%, and 10% less intense than those on the RT-deposited surface, indicating that Pd coverages at the outermost c(2 × 2) surfaces decrease with increasing deposition temperature. In the initial stage of the 90-K-CO exposure to the RT surface, the band attributable to CO bonded to the Pd emerged at 2067 cm−1 and shifted to higher frequencies with increasing CO exposure. At saturation coverage, the band was located at 2093 cm−1. In contrast, two distinct bands around 2090 cm−1 were apparent on the spectrum of the 473-K-deposited surface: the CO saturation spectrum was dominated by an apparent single absorption at 2090 cm−1 for the 673-K-deposited surface. The TPD spectra of the surfaces showed peaks at around 200 and 300 K, which were ascribable respectively to Cu-CO and Pd-CO. Taking into account the TPD and IRRAS results, we discuss the adsorption-desorption behaviors of CO on the ordered checkerboard structures.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) combined with conductor-like solvent model (COSMO) have been performed to study the solvent effects of H2 adsorption on Cu(h k l) surface. The result shows H2 can not be parallel adsorbed on Cu(h k l) surface in gas phase and only vertical adsorbed. At this moment, the binding energies are small and H2 orientation with respect to Cu(h k l) surfaces is not a determining parameter. In liquid paraffin, when H2 adsorbs vertically on Cu(h k l) surface, solvent effects not only influences the adsorptive stability, but also improves the ability of H2 activation; When H2 vertical adsorption on Cu(h k l) surface at 1/4 and 1/2 coverage, H-H bond is broken by solvent effects. However, no stable structures at 3/4 and 1 ML coverage are found, indicating that it is impossible to get H2 parallel adsorption on Cu(h k l) surfaces at 3/4 and 1 ML coverages due to the repulsion between adsorbed H2 molecules.  相似文献

We have studied the influence of oxygen pressure during the cyclic annealing used for the cleaning of W(1 1 0) surfaces. For this purpose the surface morphology and electronic properties are measured by means of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spectroscopy (STS), respectively. It is found that the surfaces with impurity atom densities as low as 2 × 10−3 can be obtained by gradually reducing the oxygen pressure between subsequent annealing cycles down to about 2 × 10−8 mbar in the final cycle. Only on the clean surface a bias-dependent spatial modulation of the local density of states (LDOS) is observed at step edges and around impurity sites by STS. In addition, we find a pronounced peak in the occupied states. In combination with density functional theory calculations these features can be traced back to a dispersive pz-dxz-type surface resonance band and the lower band edge of a surface state, respectively.  相似文献

A high resolution (0.0018 cm−1) Fourier transform instrument has been used to record the spectrum of an enriched 34S (95.3%) sample of sulfur dioxide. A thorough analysis of the ν2, 2ν2 − ν2, ν1, ν1 + ν2 − ν2, ν3, ν2 + ν3 − ν2, ν1 + ν2 and ν2 + ν3 bands has been carried out leading to a large set of assigned lines. From these lines ground state combination differences were obtained and fit together with the existing microwave, millimeter, and terahertz rotational lines. An improved set of ground state rotational constants were obtained. Next, the upper state rotational levels were fit. For the (0 1 0), (1 1 0) and (0 1 1) states, a simple Watson-type Hamiltonian sufficed. However, it was necessary to include explicitly interacting terms in the Hamiltonian matrix in order to fit the rotational levels of the (0 2 0), (1 0 0) and (1 0 1) states to within their experimental accuracy. More explicitly, it was necessary to use a ΔK = 2 term to model the Fermi interaction between the (0 2 0) and (1 0 0) levels and a ΔK = 3 term to model the Coriolis interaction between the (1 0 0) and (0 0 1) levels. Precise Hamiltonian constants were derived for the (0 0 0), (0 1 0), (1 0 0), (0 0 1), (0 2 0), (1 1 0) and (0 1 1) vibrational states.  相似文献

The magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in the DyNi2, DyAl2 and Tb1−nGdnAl2 (n=0, 0.4, 0.6) was theoretically investigated in this work. The DyNi2 and DyAl2 compounds are described considering a model Hamiltonian which includes the crystalline electrical field anisotropy. The anisotropic MCE was calculated changing the magnetic field direction from 〈1 1 1〉 to 〈0 0 1〉 in DyNi2 and from 〈1 0 0〉 to 〈0 1 1〉 in DyAl2. The influence of the second- and first-order spin-reorientation phase transitions on the MCE that occurs in these systems is discussed. For the calculations of the MCE thermodynamic quantities in the Tb1−nGdnAl2 systems we take into account a two sites magnetic model, and good agreement with the available experimental data was obtained.  相似文献

Surface optimised S 2p photoelectron spectra show that both surface S2− monomers and (S-S)2− dimers are present at pyrite (1 0 0) fracture surfaces. In order to determine which sulfur species are involved in Cu adsorption, fresh pyrite surfaces were exposed to Cu2+ in solution. The S 2p spectra suggest that both types of S surface species are involved in the mechanism of Cu adsorption (activation). Ab initio density functional theory was used to model Cu adsorbed onto pyrite (1 0 0) to support the interpretation of the spectroscopy. Mulliken population analysis confirms the charge distribution suggested by the core line shifts as observed in the photoelectron spectra. The ab initio calculations were consistent with a two-coordinate bond between Cu(I), a surface S monomer and a surface S dimer.  相似文献

The electronic structure of the c(2 × 2)-Si/Cu(0 1 1) surface alloy has been investigated and compared to the structures seen in the three phases of the (√3 × √3)R30°Cu2Si/Cu(1 1 1) system, using LCAO-DFT. The weighted surface energy increase between the alloyed Cu(0 1 1) and Cu(1 1 1) surfaces is 126.7 meV/Si atom. This increase in energy for the (0 1 1) system when compared to the (1 1 1) system is assigned to the transition from a hexagonal to a rectangular local bonding environment for the Si ion cores, with the hexagonal environment being energetically more favorable. The Si 3s state is shown to interact covalently with the Cu 4s and 4p states whereas the Si 3p state, and to a lesser extent the Si 3d state, forms a mixture of covalent and metallic bonds with the Cu states. The Cu 4s and 4p states are shown to be altered by approximately the same amount by both the removal of Cu ion cores and the inclusion of Si ion cores during the alloying of the Cu(0 1 1) surface. However, the Cu 3d states in the surface and second layers of the alloy are shown to be more significantly altered during the alloying process by the removal of Cu ion cores from the surface layer rather than by the addition of Si ion cores. This is compared to the behavior of the Cu 3d states in the surface and second layers of the each phase of the (√3 × √3)R30°-Cu2Si/Cu(1 1 1) alloy and consequently the loss of Cu-Cu periodicity during alloying of the Cu(0 1 1) surface is conjectured as the driving force for changes to the Cu 3d states. The accompanying changes to the Cu 4s and 4p states in both the c(2 × 2)-Si/Cu(0 1 1) and (√3 × √3)R30°-Cu2Si/Cu(1 1 1) alloys are quantified and compared. The study concludes with a brief quantitative study of changes in the bond order of the Cu-Cu bonds during alloying of both Cu(0 1 1) and Cu(1 1 1) surfaces.  相似文献

We present ab-initio investigation of the electronic and magnetic structure of TM(0 0 1) surfaces and TM/Cu(0 0 1) systems (TM=Fe, Co, Ni, Cu) with and without hydrogen adsorbed layer. The adsorption energy of hydrogen atom is found to be energetically more stable above the surface layer of Ni(0 0 1) surface than other TM(0 0 1) surfaces. The adsorption energies of hydrogen on TM/Cu(0 0 1) systems are larger than those on TM(0 0 1) surfaces. The relaxed geometries show that hydrogen has a strong influence on the interlayer distance. Furthermore, a marked reduction of Fe, Co, and Ni surface magnetic moments to 2.54, 1.41 and 0.25 μB, respectively, is obtained due to the presence of hydrogen.  相似文献

We report the iron isotope effect on a transition temperature (Tc) in an optimally-doped (Ba,K)Fe2As2 (Tc = 38 K) and SmFeAsO1−y (Tc = 54 K) superconductors. In order to obtain the reliable isotope shift in Tc, twin samples with different iron isotope mass are synthesized in the same conditions (simultaneously) under high-pressure. We have found that (Ba,K)Fe2As2 shows an inverse iron isotope effect αFe = −0.18 ± 0.03 while SmFeAsO1−y shows a small iron isotope effect αFe = −0.02 ± 0.01, where the isotope exponent α is defined by Tc  Mα (M is the isotopic mass). The results show that αFe changes in the iron-based superconductors depending on the system. The distinct iron isotope effects imply the exotic coupling mechanism in the iron-based superconductors.  相似文献
